An Oxipur unit is a small skid-mounted device connected directly to a Pickling tank, which continuously removes dissolved Metals (such as Metal salts). The heart of Oxipur unit, the resin column, contains a granular material that has the ability to absorb acid while rejecting a solution of weakly acidic metal salts to waste. The acid can readily be recovered from the resin with a simple water wash. Oxipur unit has the flexibility to be connected to one tank or several tanks. It employs a simple PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) in a control panel that uses a graphic display to indicate what the unit is doing at any given time. The efficiency of the Oxipur Acid recovery up to 98% is achieved thanks to its special technology and perfect dosing of treated bath and water back flow. In fact, the inlet and outlet of acid and water are driven by special Flow meters designed and programmed according to the exchange capacity of the resin. Furthermore, acid is firstly sent into a special pre-filter in order to remove suspended solids.

A diaphragm pump, mounted on Oxipur unit, transfers Pickling solution from the bath, through a special cartridge filter. Then, a cycle consisting of two basic steps, begins. During the first step, filtered acid is pumped through the resin column. Flow rate is controlled by the dedicated flow meter. While the acid is absorbed by the resin particles, the metal salts solution passes through as a waste. Then, water is pumped through the resin bed, removing the acid (Second step). Water flow rate is controlled by the dedicated flow meter. This acid stream returns to the Pickling tank. The total cycle can last from 5 to 20 minutes, depending on the Oxipur size. The Oxipur unit can cycle continuously in this manner until the desired purity level is reached, otherwise, it can be operated intermittently to maintain a pre-settled level. When multiple Pickling tanks have to be treated, Oxipur unit can be equipped with an automatic multi-tank selector Manifold. This system consists of as many sets of pneumatic valves and fittings as the number of the Pickling tanks which have to be treated. Each set includes valves and fittings for feed and product lines. A simple regulation on the control board allows to set the number of cycles for each tank according to the different Aluminium concentrations. Furthermore, through Oxipur process it’s possible to select manually the tank that has to be treated or, according to necessity, replace or change it.
