Steering Wheel Shaking Causes Did you ever feel when driving a car at a certain speed probably at 80 km/h or 100 km/h, the steering wheel seems to vibrate than its usual? If this makes you curious, let’s find the possible causes. 1. Wheel balancing The first is whenever your tires replaced sometime the wheel balancing that was not done properly by the service or sometime tire has its inherited flaw from manufacturing process. The severe condition that tire has encountered such as driving over the pothole. Another cause is tire recapping, since the rubber patch that used to recap tire has its own weight which can cause wheel to be unbalanced if install to the car without re-balancing. Wheel balancing is a necessary process to find the point around a wheel that has the weight more than others. By using the wheel rotating machine to spin the mounted wheel which is the combo of rim and

tire that has already pressurized. Then, using the small piece of lead to attach at the lower weight point of the wheel. Repeat the process until the machine show the balance of 0 g which means the wheel are already well balanced. There are two types of wheel balancers that are widely used. - Dynamic Balancer - Static balancer 2. Rim deformed This occurs when the wheel got damages, or be crooked. But before get into the cause.
