Design processes associated with the conceptualization and manufacture of materials is constantly evolving. An idea for a new material that may have been prohibitively expensive just a few years ago can now be successfully brought to market. Paired with an online libraryâ&#x20AC;&#x201D;thinkmaterial.caâ&#x20AC;&#x201D; THINK:Material is a year round resource for designers with access to an online database of unique materials and collections. The website showcases a wide array of materials for commercial and residential applications including: glass, metal, wood, plastics, laminates, stone and textiles. Grip Metal is a new method for processing metals for the mass production of consistent small-scale metal hooks that are uniformly distributed on a surface of sheet metals. These hooks are precisely formed and are available in a range of heights, up to four times the base material thickness.

With a full assortment of fabricating equipment, including shears, press brakes, panel lamination lines, turret presses and welding stations, Rigidized Metals’ designers and fabricators can engage in a vast array of projects. Deep-textured perforated metal meets both the demands of acoustics and enhances the visual interest only metal can deliver. The acoustic ceiling panels can be attached via suspension cable or supports/brackets, with frames, or a custom attachment system, without compromising acoustic performance or visual appeal.

This white oak flooring material was designed for interior decoration (flooring & wall). The material itself is in white oak with a rough surface and coated with colour and white powder to create the effect of antique. Colour variation is available in 12 difference colours.

Applicate 0.1 is an entirely interactive 3D wall covering demonstrating the natural luxurious beauty of Birch Ply. Based upon the concept of a peg board, laser cut shapes can be moved and re-positioned to slot into the specially designed pre-cut holes, fostering limitless pattern possibilities.

Highlighting the natural grain of the Birch plywood, Applicate 0.5 is pure sophistication. The three-dimensional modular surface system is used as a base. However, this time, delicate washes of stain are mixed to your own colour specifications, before being applied by hand to each shape. Thus creating the seamless graduated effect without loosing the woods innate characteristics.

With the option of a two-tone finish, Applicate 2.1 offers glowing results. Different rendering finishes including phosphorescent or metallic coatings are reflected off the backboard, creating an almost luminous quality to the construction. Narrow or wide shapes can be combined to create unique woven designs and contours.

Plexwood is an all-natural and sustainable interior wood veneer composed of end grain wood and long grain wood, glued crosswise, which give the wood its graphic texture. Plexwood is available in nine kinds of wood, in a variety of products, that can be used for flooring, walls, staircases and furniture, in office spaces, homes, high traffic retail, educations, and health care environments.

The three-layer Sun-Wood panel is an ideal alternative that replicates both the look and feel of natural wood (old or burned). Using a special technique, the panels have prints from the original wood and are brushed or chipped to reproduce the natural effect.
