“Travelling to Europe”
A collaborative story made during the eTwinning Learning Event: “Quality Label Criteria: How to achieve them”
April 2014
"Travelling to Europe" Europe offers so many opportunities...Let's discover it! (Irene Pateraki) For example I am in England with a group of pupils right now. They are practicing their English in their host families and tomorrow they will get to see some of the famous London sights. Great! (Sally Ost) Wow, most of the pupils have never been there and I wonder what they will think when they will have a look at the London Eye. It's such a beautiful wheel! And it becomes even more fascinating if you have read “The London Eye Mystery" first. I wonder if the pupils know this intriguing mystery novel. I wonder what these students would do if they had super powers and with just a finger snap; they could travel to Rome.....even if they could not only travel in the distance, but also in time! They would probably fly from the London Eye and land in a completely different world, such as... Ancient Rome, as spectators in the Coliseum, during one of the famous fights between gladiators. Wouldn't they? After, let's say in the afternoon, they would have a wonderful swim in the Ionian Sea listening to the charming voices of sirens. At night, around a campfire, they would be charmed by the warm voice of an old man evoking Ulysses' travels in those same places. They would fall asleep on the same beach the hero had slept and the next morning....... (Chiara T) ...they could go to Portugal and visit Lisbon, the capital and one of the world's most scenic cities. But there is also a lot to see in the rest of Portugal: Sintra (UNESCO’s World Heritage), Coimbra, known for being the student's city (has more than 30.000 students and the University of Coimbra was classified UNESCO World Heritage too), Fátima (one of the most important catholic shrines in the world dedicated to the Virgin Mary, Porto (famous for its Porto wine)…So many places to choose!... (Manuela Baptista) ...But...they heard about Dracula and they are really curious to see his place: Bran Castle 60 km away from Brasov, Romania. They to experience the history, the myth, the intrigue and the magic of this wonderful place and its legends. Dracula's Castle is situated between Bucegi and Piatra Craiului Mountains, right where you enter Rucar-Bran Pass. It is the same with Bran Castle. Many legends are connected with Bran Castle. It is said the castle belonged to Count Dracula (Vlad Tepes), but nobody has any proof. Vlad Tepes was a Romanian king who lived only for a short time in the castle and only as a guest. What is really true is that Bran Castle conjures up the perfect Gothic fairy-tale image of a Transylvanian castle and as a result draws crowds of tourists from far and wide. They could also visit Greece. They could go to the Parthenon in Athens as well as to a lot of great museums such as the Acropolis Museum, the Byzantine museum, etc. In this context, there are a lot of ancient temples dedicated to the ancient gods. But Greece is not only ancient Greek world; it has a lot more to see: Venetian castles and towers is just another example. There are magnificent places to go to and enjoy yourself. It depends on what you want: sea or mountain. Greek islands and
mountain villages make you realize the power of beauty in nature. Greece is a must in this journey across Europe. (Eirini Zazani). Moreover, they will have the chance to meet new friends and talk about their common experiences. They will take them with them and continue their trip trying to enlarge the peer group with friends from all the countries they visit. After visiting Greece, they would be glad to visit Turkey, too .A mesmerizing mix of the exotic and the familiar, Turkey is much more than its clichéd image of a “bridge between East and West”. Invaded and settled from every direction since the start of recorded history, it combines influences from the Middle East and the Mediterranean, the Balkans and Central Asia. But there are lots of places to visit and things to do in Turkey. They couldn't decide where to begin. After traveling all over Turkey, they decided on the things to do before leaving Turkey: air ballooning over Cappadocia, visiting Orthodox monastery of Sümela in Trabzon, whirling Dervishes in Konya, extraordinary mountain top temple tomb complex in Nemrut Mountain, Anatolian's largest and best reserved classical Roman theatre at Aspendos, and Aya Sofya(Saint Sofia)mosque in Istanbul, shopping in Grand Bazaar in İstanbul, tasting Turkish Baklava and kebabs and relaxing in hamam (Turkish bath). (Deniz Sengul) Then they would fly to France to go up the Eiffel tour. They would have a fantastic view. They could down the Seine on boats before exploring the Louvre museum. But even if the capital city is a great place to visit, they would make a trip around the country. They could reach the south next to the Mediterranean Sea where they could swim between fish. They would go up the Mont Blanc, the highest European mountain. They could go for skiing. They could reach the ocean to surf, have some rest on the old volcanoes. So much places to be and to see. Next they would visit Athens and go around the Acropolis and the ancient market in Plaka. They would enjoy the sunset by the sea and have dinner at a seaside restaurant in Sounio! Then, they could go to Olympia, the birthplace of Olympics. They could see the temples of Zeus, Hera, the Gymnasium, they could run in the ancient stadium. They could feel somehow like Kalipatteira, the only girl who had ever been in that sacred place, who had dressed up like a man to watch her father and brothers to win the "kotinos". And then, they would see the famous statue of Hermes of Praxiteles holding the baby Dionysus. There are so many places to see in Greece! Maybe but just maybe they would stumble upon Eupen a rather small town with roughly 18 000 inhabitants which is nonetheless the capital of the German speaking community of Belgium. Here people truly know how useless borders are. The oldest places here are known to be no older than 1100 years old and during these years they have belonged to the Empire of Carolus Magnus, to Limburg, Brabant, Burgundy, to the Austrian Habsburgers, the Netherlands, France and Prussia and finally Belgium. So our “identity” got constantly mixed up and we believe to have picked up characteristics of all our neighbors: the reliability of our German neighbors, the “savoir-vivre” of our Walloon or French neighbors, and many more. People here know more about German
football or politics than about the Belgian equivalents. Nonetheless they consider themselves to be real and true Belgians, this they can avoid to reconsider the difficult years between the treaty of Versailles and the end of the Second World War, where the population was divided in pro-Belgian and pro-German citizens. We have our own European deputy and as he only represents 70 000 people he may be proportionally the most representative of all deputies. If you would stumble upon Eupen what would you be able to visit? A lot of buildings from the 18th century that are linked to the wool industry and textile manufacture, some late barock churches, a lot of fur forests and meadows. Another interesting thing within an hour you are able to visit Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. You would meet people who are not really famous for their open-heartedness and their open-mindedness. In fact, they will seem quite reserved. But take your time and then try to steal horses with them (as Germans say) and you will find out: it works. They will probably love visiting Croatia. A lot of mountains, lakes, rivers and the most beautiful sea in this part of the world can be found here. Seaside towns are full of history, have you heard about Dubrovnik, Zadar and Split. Plitvices lake, and Krka National resort is a sin not to visit (Jasna Sojer). Definetly, they would love visiting Croatia but then, it will be nice they travel southern and visit Crete, a beautiful island in the southern part of Greece with golden sandy beaches, impressive gorges, attractive archaeological sites and much more! But now it is time to travel to Lapland and see "Aurora Borealis". They stay in Glass Igloo where they can see sky from their bed and just see one amazing experience after visiting and seeing all European beautiful places. If they see Aurora Borealis they will have a blessed life. Greece is a very beautiful country. Crete is an amazing place!!! Peloponnesus is Beautiful too!!! The sea is really gorgeous..and there many ancient sights. And as a new Icarus, after traveling throughout Europe, they know that it is time to return home again. They start their journey under the bright Aegean sun, whole day traveling from island to island, enjoy the amazing coastline, the magnificent blue sea, fishermen greet them from their small boats, blinded by the white color of the houses they are glad to hear the children playing in the small alleys…What is Greece?....It’s a dream, a colour, a look, a love…it’s a blue sea, an olive tree, a life full of history, a land rich of “pure” people….It’s not only about the "sites" . It is about enjoying a walk around and let the scenery "talk" to you, it is about while the sun goes down to start a conversation with a local or a fellow traveler, it is about closing your eyes and try to imagine how people lived and are living here for centuries, it is about taking some time to simply enjoy the moment, to wait something unexpected to happen or not! If you wait something unexpected to happen, then you have for sure visited the right country!! The country of spontaneously, hospitality, warmth, enthusiasm, joy, a lot of smiles and friendliness!! Greece is all that, but it is also the beauty that is around! " The energy
of the mind is the essence of life", said Aristotle. There you can find one of the best climates in the world and enjoy one of the healthiest diets. There are different ways to relax: the traditional 'tavernas', cafes by the beach, beach-bars, nightlife not only in the weekends... The fun lasts until the early hours in the morning!!! (Mara Beretsou) To make the activity more fun students could use Google Maps engine and add labels of cities to visit, share photos, calculate distances and later share their map with the public. I have done similar map for my son’s project about Croatian UNESCO heritage. It's very creative and you can easily go about it and learn at the same time. It's in Croatian, but I hope you get the idea https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?hl=hr&authuser=0&mid=zphucqQ3bipE.k IljVUNQaNp8 (Marijana/CRO) What if suddenly they... woke up :)) Remember that students would start their journey "tomorrow"!!! Now they are able to choose one of all options to start with (and get their tickets in time) But what if those same students woke up only to find themselves in the future...maybe not so far ahead, but still...would they be amazed, scared, intrigued, enthralled or eager to leave? So here they are, some years into their own future...I know, time laws and so on....they won't be meeting themselves so don't worry..Our students will be coming back...but how? and by that I don't mean by what means...What do I mean?...well, let's continue the journey and see...so, somewhere in Europe...and the year is...wait, don't skip ahead. They can't find any newspapers ...and they think..Finally people have woken up, they are not printing anymore, and they are not cutting down entire forests for some newspapers. But they still need to know the date: some intriguing gadget catches their eyes: it says 2025. They are in a country they don't recognize, by the look of things, it could be an European country but which one? They hear people speaking different languages..So it's hard to figure it out. Suddenly they realize they can understand everything that's being said...Great. I guess all those eTwinning projects really paid off. Who would have thought? Well, their teachers did. They'd be proud now. Pity they can't make a film..You know, temporal mechanics..Can’t tamper with the time line :D As they walk around admiring the harmony in everything, they come across something that could be a school. Out of curiosity they decide to give it a go. It's not like somebody can kick them out...Right? But once inside, they are bewildered..there are no classrooms, but kids everywhere..chairs and tables and armchairs and fluffy carpets. Gadgets all around them. Children moving to and fro, talking to each other, switching places. The adults offering assistance must be the teachers but it's all so strange. And yet, they see groups working on fascinating stuff with such concentration that you'd think their life depended on it. Others prefer to work alone. Still not believing their eyes, our students leave the school, roaming around the strange city that looked more like a country. So many nations, languages and yet it was as if the universal translator they had seen on Star Trek had become reality.
Hmmm...Maybe something else had become reality as well...such as a replicator, since they are starving. It's hard to enjoy things on an empty stomach. Yet, they have no money. As they sit and ravish a food store with their eyes, they catch the attention of an older couple. Without thinking twice, the couple asks them if they would like something to eat. The kids can't say they are from the past, right...so they just nod and apologize for not carrying any currency. They had gotten lost. And it wouldn't be a lie. As the night draws near, they can't help but wonder if it's all a dream or if in a few years, they'd get a chance to visit this place again. Not wanting to let go of such an amazing experience they make a vow. If they wake up in their own beds and timelines they will do whatever was in their power to make that city happen. So, they close their eyes just for a second while resting comfortably on a bench. They are not afraid. Shaping their fates is in their hands and minds. So wherever and whenever they wake up, they will make the best of it (Loredana Popa, Romania) Is the best what has happened or best are yet to come??What is happening? We are travelling in time? Is this reality? Or illusions? And why we are going again back in Greece? We haven’t seen it all ?Ok then since this is a life travel lets go and see some more things here in Greece......wait....people don’t talk....are they sad? Something bad is happening here. So many sad faces. But what is that light above them? Why they can’t see that light and still are sad. These people over there must have seen that light and realize that the light always covers darkness and gives life again and again. And nothing- nobody can be sad or poor under that light. Come on team lets go towards the light and see some more amazing place this land has.....Ups...we have lost gravity...we are flying over Greece...over North Greece..Hello Thessaloniki, hello Chalkidiki, Look the Holly mountain, hello Veria, Naoussa, Kozani, Kastoria......what names!!!!So many wonderful towns shining and prepare themselves from spring. Vegetable trees all over the place, lovely beaches too. Oh, this place is like heaven....Ok if you want to travel us again in Europe let us in the end here in Greece........ But we have forgotten a very important place! Oxford - famous for its University and also its gargoyles! Imagine if one of these stone creatures came alive and joined the students on their journey. First they fly across the city, seeing the beautiful architecture from the sky. Then they relax in a Christchurch meadow next to the river before going to an English pub for lunch. What is for lunch? Fish and chips, of course! They decide the next destination all together. What about going to see Ancient Pompeii and Vesuvius in Italy? So they pack their bags and go on their way. Once they arrive in Pompeii, they go back in time and see how ancient Romans lived. What they ate, their schools, their games, their food, their dress, and their gladiator shows. The best way to learn about the past! I’m sorry, but you have already visited Athens! You're all too fast!!! Crete too, although you have to visit Ierapetra and its island named Chrissi Island, with its beach made of corals How it is possible they haven ´t visited the heart of Europe yet? It is high time to visit
Slovakia with beautiful nature, various types of landscape, mountains with lots of animals, even chamois, bears, wolfs and marmots, the biggest karst area in Central Europe and the aragonite cave in Europe, they can feel the magic atmosphere of more than 100 castles and castle ruins and visit the biggest cellar premises in Central Europe under The Cerveny Kamen Castle. (Kornelia) In Greece again! A trip is not only that we have to see, watch and learn about but taste and listen. Let’s go to enrich our senses. Food in a Greek restaurant. Here is the menu! You have to choose Souvlaki, tzatziki or fish from Greek sea! And of course a Greek village salad! It is perfect when accompanied with Greek music. Bouzouki of course! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8apRa85yhU&list=RDc33sNg45gPI Bon appetite! Oh! This food is very good, but it makes them sleeeeepyyy...... then they wake up....They can see old temples again, big streets, so many people dressed in long robes.... They are following a champion... going to the Coliseum.....there are so many wild animals... they can't believe their eyes - the gladiators are fighting them and they are winning. Thumb up for them.....Then the Coliseums is flooded and sea battles are in front of them....the ships are enormous and so different from nowadays....Hey guys! We are really having fun. Having fun in the water, swimming in the thermal water and laughing at Felix Spa, admiring the gorgeous water lilies.(Narcisa) Why don't we talk about food that our friends could taste? For example in Italy they could eat a plate of pasta with tomato sauce or a good slice of pizza (if you go to Naples, at the feet of the volcano Vesuvius you could eat the best pizza in Italy). If they go to Bologna they could eat a plate of tortellini, in Sicily some good oranges or cannoli, typical cake made with ricotta cheese..... And there the meet some Spaniards, oh it is true some time very far along Spanish live in Sicily and then they decided to visit some Spanish cities, those ancient city from Romans times, Elche, Segovia,... But what has happened? These people are not Romans they are Arabics, oh it’s great Look Granada and its red palace Alhambra, with the beautiful buildings and fountains, the sun and the food. Let´s eat something and relax by the sun (Loli from Spain). But it’s too hot now. They decided that they are going to visit a cave. Have you ever been in Postojna's cave. Have you ever seen the human fish (proteus)? It is an animal which lives only in this cave in Slovenia. World attraction. From cave they go to the mountain and they see a Bled lake. It is again something special, because the lake is small but in the middle has an island which church. The legend tells us that if you ring to bell in the church, all your wishes come true. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiWGSJ8LfZM (Mirjam Vuga) I have another proposal... why don’t we visit one of the Ionian Island, which is named Kefallinia and is so beautiful, that the waters of the sea are blue and green
and clear and so fresh, that you don’t want to come out of the water. On this Island there is a very big mountain that is called Ainos. There you can find a fir - tree, so black and beautiful... it is the same kind of fir trees that you find in Germany... As soon as we get there we must visit the Melissani Lake that is hidden in the earth, and was found after an earthquake. Or we can go to a very huge cave where we can see stalactites, Drogarati. Many years ago there where concerts held here, because of the nice acoustic, but now it is not possible anymore. Finally we would stop at one of the local taverns and have the traditional dish of the island: "kreatopita" - meat pie, so delicious and juicy and tasty that you don’t stop to one piece. Not to forget to mention that Ulysses lived here! http://youtu.be/eNbpr5Y_NSU (angela metallinou) What about some sports activities, such as, sailing, wind-surfing and parachuting in the east coastline of Athens at this time of the year! Or, even swimming in the south, in Vouliagmeni Lake where the temperature is steady and warm! http://youtu.be/RLSr0lpTUPE (anna drakotou) ... and at night in your dreams a visit to Sicily: visiting Taormina with its ancient theatre, a trip on the Mount Etna, visitation of the baroque cities Syracuse and Note and finally swim and relax in San Vito lo Capo ....... (Tanja Pananis) If you want to see a wonderful place where tradition is accompanied by landscapes of unique beauty, Vrancea county, in Romania is the perfect destination. One of our traditions is wine growing. If you taste too much of Bacchus liquor, then you will keep a vivid memory of our people and places. You are welcome anytime. Until then, if you have doubts, have a look http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oE3ujq2nR3Y (Petronia Moraru) Transported by Golden Eagles they will fly to Ossola Valley, surrounded by the peaks of Lepontine Alps, in the north of Italy. They will find themselves in a magic place, walking through woods where they will hear the 'hundreds waterfalls' running. And they will meet deers, chamois and wild ibex. (Cristina Giuliani) What about going by boat? We could sail the Iseo Lake. Looking the area from the lake is really different. In the centre there are islands where we can meet fishermen and they could tell us about how to live in an old traditional way. We could listen to their stories, eat good fish dishes and taste their drink, sing nice songs. Maybe in the late afternoon we could also have a colourful sunset. Too romantic? Students could organize games, take photos and videos and have fun together. (Cinzia Fiorentini) And if we find ourselves back in Athens why not try hiking up Lycabettus hill and enjoy the view of the city from the top of the hill? It is just fantastic in spring! (Laskarina Polemi) A day at the Acropolis museum: you will enjoy the contact with ancient Greek
civilization and the Museum exhibits.( Eleni Hartzavalou) Oh, before we find ourselves back in Athens please come and visit Patras. This is a nice place to visit! F.eg Patras and its region is home to various Ancient Greek, Roman and Byzantine Monuments, including the Roman Odeon, the Fortress of Rio and the Fortress (castle) of Patras.[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patras (Maria Perttula)
It looks like Greece is the best place to bring our students, but don't forget Milan, next year we'll have the Universal EXPO about Feed the world"...Come and see! (and taste of course)(Gabriella) We can travel around the world. Why not to visit Poland? It's a beautiful country. Different landscapes - lakes, rivers, Baltic Sea, mountains, small villages, wild nature...http://youtu.be/Qbu_FRg8vuU ( Marta Petryszak ). Now something more out of this world- a space trip! Let's travel in time and transfer our students to some distant planet. Life will be totally different there as it will be very futuristic. They'll need to get used to new living conditions and new unknown species of plants and animals. Maybe they'll come across new friends there who will communicate using a different language and they'll teach one another. But later they'll probably want to come back to their home and friends and leave together on an unforgettable trip to visit a country full of extremes: from fascinating mountains where they'll see Wild Carpathians in its purity to the seaside resorts on the Black Sea coast and the Danube Delta full of magnificent types of plants and birds on the verge of extinction. If they want more, they will be able to visit The Merry Cemetery in the north of the country or see the People's House, nowadays the Romanian Parliament, which is the biggest civil building in the world, the most expensive administrative building in the world and also the heaviest building in the world. And if this is not enough, they can drive on "the best road in the world" as Transfagarasan road was named by Top Gear. They will feel on top of the world... (Lavinia Iancu) "On top of the world"! What a feeling! We closed our eyes for a moment to inhale the air of Europe and we heard a strange sound. Something was crossing the sky! We opened the eyes and there it was! A bull was flying, with a girl on his back. Was it Zeus? Was it Europe? The scenery changed into magic and Crete appeared, glittering in the Meditarennean Sea... A prince smiled to us... http://www.heritagedaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/MINOAN1.jpg (Maria Sourgiadaki) I absolutely recommend a visit to Italy, at least to the Northern part of it, if you are short of time. What about visiting Lombardy and enjoying a ferry trip on Lake Maggiore and its suggestive Isola Bella,Isola Madre and Isola Pescatori?.If you are lucky and the weather is sunny, you will spend a wonderful afternoon between the
lake and the mountains! Gabriella Gasperini from Italy (ÇiÄ&#x;dem Bozkurt) I would say that if you visit Bursa you will never regret. It is the fourth biggest city in Turkey having a population of nearly 3 millions. It is a metropolitan but at the same time its nature is fantastic. From the city center you can go to UludaÄ&#x;, the most important ski center in Turkey in just 30 minutes and at the same time you can go the Marmara Sea. You can taste delicious fresh peach and chestnut candy for which Bursa's famous for. I will be glad to meet you here :) And yet another interesting place that they haven't travelled to is Moldova! It is a small country, neighbouring to Romania, it has no seas or mountains, but what a picturesque countryside it has! One can never get bored of the romantic landscapes, go sightseeing, breathe the fresh air of the Codrii- the biggest Moldovan forests, go hiking in the medieval places, like Old Orhei or visit fortresses like Soroca, monasteries such as Capriana, Curchi, etc. And what famous wineries does Moldova have, due to its beautiful and fruitful vineyards, warm sun and good weather! In that, Cricova, Milestii Mici or Purcari are the most famous wineries. Even the Queen of England, Elisabeth the 2nd has been buying wine from Purcani for more than 18 years.... And the traditional food is never to be forgotten: cabbage rolls, mamaliga with cottage cheese, roasted meat, and cheese pies are simply delicious!!! Those who visit Moldova call it a part of Paradise! Come and get convinced!! :) Tatiana Popa, Moldova Travelling to Crete may take some hours but it's worth visiting. You can view all kinds of landmarks and amazing beaches like Elafonisi or Balos with exotic landscape and scenery. The food is out of the world with traditional recipes that you don't want to miss. Don't miss Samaria gorge that is one of the most famous gorges in Greece and Palm tree forest in the east of the island. Wherever you go, you'll meet friendly and hospitable people treating you with a 'raki' drink or 'kalitsounia' food to make you welcome and feel like home. Night life is something you will never forget as the island is full of tourists in the summer and full of kind and good-hearted people all year long! Come on board for Crete now!!!!!!!!!!!! Catherine Georgopoulou, Greece After Crete and while students are still in Greece they can take the ship and go to another beautiful place, Alexandroupolis, a town situated nearby the sea and the borders of Greece and Turkey. We can enjoy our clean beaches, take a walk in the center and drink our coffee under the lighttower. I suggest later we can sit in a traditional restaurant( taverna) and enjoy fish and ouzo...and a warm talk ... After Greece, students can visit Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and participate in the 'Young Bitola Monmartre' painting festival where lots of students from all around the world paint the beauties of Shirok Sokak (the most famous street in FYROMacedonia)
Why not coming back to Italy and stop in Venice? Which other city can better offer a dreamlike atmosphere to our students? But for this I would suggest the month of February in which the most famous Carnival of Italy takes place. Wearing masks hiding completely your face or dressing up with typical costume; it's just up to you to choose how to feel more involved in the atmosphere...Students will be amazed by the event and the will definitely hope to come back one day...Here dreams come true !!!!!! (Isabella Zeli Italy) After all these adventures, students will have a rest in the French Ardennes. They will stay in a campsite near a lake 'Le lac des Vieilles Forges' where they would relax, sunbathe, swim, walk along the lake, play or simply enjoy nature. They would also taste specialties like 'la Galette au sucre' : a very tasty cake with a lot of sugar and butter or drink (if they are over 18) the different beers . They would visit the two most important towns: Charleville Mézières famous for its Place Ducale and its international puppets festival (if they come in September) and Sedan with its castle. They would learn about the history and legends of this part of France during an evening meeting near a big fire and then go to sleep thinking of the elves, kings and princesses..... (Michèle Pigret / France) One of the students started talking about philosophy and he remembered one of his teachers talking about a very special and one of the biggest philosopher of the world his name: Aristotle! Then he had a brilliant idea: "Why don't we go to Stagira the small village in Chalkidiki Greece which is the place where Aristotle lived!" he said. And all the other children were so enthusiastic with the idea."Yes!Yes! Let’s go to Stagyra Greece! We have so many things to see and do there."We can go to the thematic park which is based on Aristotle’s theories and we can take part to the activities!!"And they went to Greece again to visit this special thematic park. After their visiting they swam to the blue crystal beaches which is close to the village and go for a walk to the beautiful mountain which is full of wonderful natural beauties...(Melahrini Papardeli) Suddenly someone ... decides to visit another great monument, the Lion of Amphipolis, in Serres, a region of Greece near Chalkidiki. The Lion is a huge statue, undoubtedly one of the most significant monuments of the 4th century BC, in a place (Amphipolis) which, in the reign of Alexander, was an important naval base. (Dora Gk) Europe has so great places to visit, so nice food and drink. Students want to visit more places but they don’t have time. So, they decide to come back to their school and meet other countries and students through eTwinning projects! And who knows, maybe one of their project is awarded with a National and European Quality label and then a European Award and have the opportunity to travel again!!!
