Understand the complexity for SDG8

Problem Statement Economic growth is supposed to be a positive force for our planet. However, decent work and democratic rights grew weaker in almost all countries, while inequality continued to grow. Numberless workers in the global workforce are excluded from any protection under labor laws: 2.5 billion people in the informal economy, millions of migrant workers, those in precarious work and those working for platform businesses. (ITUC International Trade Union Confederation, 2018) Meanwhile, the global economy has slower growth after the recovery from economic crisis in 2008. It is also widening inequalities. There are even not enough jobs to keep up with a growing labor force. According to the International

Labour Organization, more than 204 million people were unemployed in 2015. (UNDP United Nations Development Programme) In 2018, the total number of unemployed people remains high - above 192 million - and it becomes more diffictult to find decent jobs in this situation. Nearly 2.2 billion people live below the US$1.90 poverty line. it can lead to unrest and disrupt peace if it is left unaddressed.(United Nation, 2018)

Opportunity Statement There is an opportunity to map out the relationship of SDG 12 in order to disclose the pattern of the adaptive agents for the complexity.
