The editor speaking!

We hope you like the result and will keep this book as a good memory of your stay in Norway.

Hey! International office: Tonje Nielsen Rørly, Einar Meier, Pål Grandal, Janne Strøm-Fladstad, Svein Pedersen, Terje Thorsdalen, Tor Erik Christensen. Foran: Clare Jortveit.

Very often, student exchange is just the beginning of the adventures of a lifetime, and I hope that this has been the case for you. I wish you all the best of luck in whatever the future may bring. Please keep Norway in your heart, and keep in touch with each-other and with me. I hate to see you go, and I hate to say goodbye, so instead I will say “Vi sees” and “kom tilbake.” I would also like to send a special thank you to ESN, which has done an outstanding job this year. Thank you also for putting together a yearbook. I’m sure it will bring much joy for years to come. I am so grateful that you chose to study at the University of Agder, and I hope that you have made memories for life here.

I want to start by saying that this semester has been great! It’s been a privilege getting to know so many of you, although I wish I got to know you all. I hope you’ve enjoyed your semester on exchange here in Norway and that you will come back sometime in the future! Thank you all; exchange students, ESN board, buddies, and everyone else for making this semester amazing :) The yearbook committee has had a great experience making this yearbook for you. We hope you like the result and will keep this book as a good memory of your stay in Norway :) Best regards, Monica Omdal Ødegård

the people - and their best experiences with ESN and Sørlandet

Kristaps Auzāns // Latvia

Kristen Lea Chadek // USA

You know what is really bad way how to start studies in foreign country? It is to oversleep in first day. And that was exactly what I did. I was really terrified and ready to buy back ticket to Latvia. However, everything turned out well.

My favorite memory here would be of course all of the parties and everyone I have met. : ) Also, my trips to Lofoten, Poland, and Ireland.

Linda Steinberga // Latvia

Jolanta Sabo // Poland

Had a wonderful time here that I won’t forget; a lot of experience, a lot of new people from different countries, a lot of travelling, a lot of adventures, a lot of unforgettable memories. Definitely fall in love with Norway :)

There are so many interesting things that can happen during this time, that I cannot remind everything:D But...I am sure, that I will never forget Sundays composed of (KIWI) lunches and movie evenings in the company of my new family from Kristian VI’s gate:D

Pakistan presentation at Otsia when we have all presented Pakistan. It was looking great and we have enjoyed it all. Representing you country is no doubt a great honor for everyone so that made us all proud.

Nicest memory about this experience at UiA is, it provided me the opportunity to meet someone special from czech republic and as a result spring started quite earlier and sun started to shine everyday for me :)

Ieva Zunde // Latvia My favourite memery is the time spent with our dorm’s “family”, as we call ourselves. Since the very first Sunday in Kristian IV’s gate we have had our common Sunday lunches and movie evenings. We have become like a real family, being there for each other. Wonderful time with great people!

Carsten Buchmüller // Germany There are too many special things to list them all, so all I can say is that I had an enjoyable time in Kristiansand at the UiA during my two semesters here and I will definitely come back for a visit soon!

I had fun by dressing up for Motto Parties like the Hippie Party or Carneval. Fun on AWESOME Pre Parties. Fun by making Movie Nights with great people in my room. And of course being a slice of the “sandwich” and everything connected with that!

The best moments were the very first weeks when all of us were shyly getting to know each other, asking our Norwegian buddies thousands of questions, exploring the beauties of Kristiansand or meeting all together at the parties, classes or first trips.

Marilyne Dupuy // France

Matthias Dengler // Germany

My favourite memories is when I organized my trip to Riga and Stockholm the second week i was here with totally stangers who will become ones of my closests friends here.

A really fantastic group trip to Tromsö, very nice people from all over the world and a countryside I wanna see later again.

I have a lot of memories in this semmester but maybe one of the best one is the hippy party because it is where I met the rest of the exchange students.

My favourite memory is from our orienteringtrip in Baneheia in the start of the semester, where I experienced the amazing nature surrounding Kristiansand! This city is hiding it beauty :) I love the breath taking moments of Norway!

Jin Ahrum // South Korea

Anna Hegedűs // Hungary

1. I and dimas played sled with normal Norwegian people. We joined a big group sledding and had so much fun. 2. I learned many polish words especially swearing(like ‘KURWA’) from Ewelina and Ana and when we meet, we greet with ‘SZTAMA’!

My trip to Lofoten. I reached the very northern point of my life, and I was so lucky that I saw the Northern Light. We had one day with a snowstorm but we could find a cosy cafeteria where we spent the whole day. And I saw reindeers.

When I met my friends from last semester in Germany for Carnival at the beginning of march. That was just AWE-SO-ME to be all together again. Erasmus for ever!

That I met really really nice people, that ESN does a great job for us internationals, that it could get cold in a tent when it’s under 0 degree. The nature of Norway is unbelievable beautiful and right at the moment I enjoy a great music-festival in Kristiansand “Kultopia”

Dorela Kraja // Albania My favourite memory is Snowing, hhaaahaa (its a joke). It is important and wonderful to remember the visits in schools in Kristiansand (because I study math education).

Ester Selien Boot // Holland The first time I made a fire in the snow and baked my own pølse med brød with ketchup!

My favourite memory is the meeting with Ahrum Jin for the first time. I didn’t hear exactly how to pronounce her name so I kept saying Adym and it was funny because this name was similar to polish male name. So when I found out that I have to spell it with “r” we were all laughing.

It was on my first evening, when we went to IKEA for buying homestuff. But all other guys left from store. So I was wandering, but Monica and Kristina are waiting for me. It was so nice, they saw my home and helped to bring my bags.

Sandija Skudra // Latvia

Katja Lamich // Germany

There’ll be so many good memories as every person and event will be associated with something positive. Unforgettable International Pubs, preparation, group work, our traditional Sunday lunches, movie nights and of course parties :) - amazing people having amazing time here.

I don’t have one special memory. For me it is the whole semester by itself, which has been great and special all the time! It was the best decision I could make to go to Norway: love the time, this country and the people around me!

The best memories are mostly connected with common cooking;P Travelling with Barcia, with plate in one hand and chair in the other for Sunday’s lunch, which we have even started to call ‘Family lunch’:)

IMost of my memories are connected with our “family” and often hilarious Sunday lunches, meeting incredible people who made me look at the world through different eyes :-), discovering the beauty of Norway or one of many endless chats with my awesome flatmate Ali :-)

Ben Peter Sanders // England

Lena Weinert // Germany

Going to Oslo to see the World Ski Championships and going up to the Rondane National Park and Ski touring for 1 week. The views were amazing and the weather was brilliant and I went with all my new friends from the Friluftsliv (Oudoor Education) course.

Wild camping with our “Outdoor education course” in Oslo while Ski World Championship --> camping at Holmenkollen area, watching skijump, cross-country competition and medal ceremony downtown and camping in deep snow=)

The “free bowling” evening, which I really enjoyed, because I could meet all the other exchange students and we had a lot of fun. One special memory was my trip to Oslo, where I got to see the world championship in skiing and one of the award ceremonies, Thank you all for the great time!

I had to come to Norway to learn how to make Polish dumplings. It was my first time when I took part in preparing Polish dinner in Kristiansand.

Jozef Matasovsky // Slovakia

Maud Koster // Holland

I love to remember the very early time as we arrived to K-town and started to get to know each other as well as the city itself. I love this feeling whenever I come to a new and unknown place and what i felt here was even more exceptional.

I would say the night we had the pub quiz at øststia. My team called the TusenTakk Team had the luck to answer most questions right. It was a great evening because it was as though everything fitted, everybody was feeling good. It is hard to describe such a moment.

I will have nice memories about trips around Norway and especially trip to Lofoten islands (can just agree with others: 44 hours in the train, 8 hours on ferry but it was worth that). And of course, I will rememer great people I met during Erasmus period.

Potluck dinner! :) That was a great opportunity to know each other more as well as taste international delicious dishes from all over the world. It is really hard to judge which country prepared the best food, as every dish I tasted was amazing!

Jana Seegler // Germany

Vainora Drilingaite // Lithuania

I’m so glad that I choose Norway and that I met so many nice people. The semester is not over yet, so I will have a lot of more nice memories, like the trip to Stavanger. The whole semester is a great memory-all the pre partys and wonderful nights in the clubs, especially Havana and Pir 6.What I will never forget are our Sunday lunches. Thanks guys! :o)

I know that at the end I will be crying cause I will miss people, living style, partys, nature, northern lights, all the phenomenas that Norway has. This semester the greatest moment was when some students from last semester came to Kristiansand.

My best memories from that semester are connected with great people I met here and all of the parties I attended/hosted. Learning dirty words from Kristen and Jayne. Also our Sunday dinners at Kristian IV gate; preparing meals together, and then joking with the others.

Ilka Ponsot // France

Marcus Krahenbuhl // England

There are so much awesome memories from this semester that it is difficult to choose one. However, my best one will be the Sunday lunch with Kristian IV’s gate family. We got to know each other, that was definitely a wonderful time with great friends, I will miss it! I really want to thank you ALL for this!

Seeing the Northern Lights with the boys, or being bought pints by random Norwegian strangers who like the accent.
