If you enjoy helping others in crisis or those who are having difficulty coping with life problems, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Services is your key to a rewarding career. Students may choose from three areas of specialization.
Addictions Studies Concentration
Addictions Studies explores the nature and impact of addiction on families, individuals and society. Focus is on addictive behaviors including substance abuse, gambling and internet addiction. Students learn strategies for treatment and recovery, as well as how to provide support, coordinate community outreach activities and facilitate educational programs. Careers are available in a variety of in-patient as well as out-patient treatment facilities.

Graduates Go Further
Nearly four out of five (77%) program graduates are employed shortly after graduation. This includes placement with dozens of local programs and agencies including New Horizons of the Treasure Coast, SafeSpace and Children’s Home Society. Many program graduates continue their education with a Master’s Degree in Health Counseling or Clinical Social Work while working in the human services field.

Admissions Criteria:A.A. or A.S. Degree from a regionally accredited institution and a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA are required for program admission.
Foreign Language Requirement:
Students who have not taken 2 credits of sequential high school foreign language must complete two semesters or 8 credit hours of the same foreign language at the college level to meet the foreign language requirement.
Capstone Guidance:Students must see an advisor to register for Capstone course (HUS 4945). Students must also have completed the foreign language requirement, all General Education courses, all Human Services upper-division core courses. Registration is generally limited to 12 credits during the final term when Capstone is taken.
