The Indian River State College Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) program is designed to minimize barriers for low-income parent-students starting or completing a degree, certificate or Career and Technical Education program at IRSC by assisting with childcare expenses. The program is made possible through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

The CCAMPIS program offers childcare and access to IRSC’s wraparound services to students on a sliding-fee scale, thus expanding childcare services to a large number of Pell-eligible and low-income IRSC student-parents residing in Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie counties who spend 20 hours or more each week in IRSC classes and labs, or studying for their courses. The College is partnering with the Early Learning Coalition of St. Lucie County and the Early Learning Coalition of Indian River, Martin and Okeechobee counties to connect IRSC students residing in its service district with early-education readiness programs offered at local childcare centers.

CCAMPIS Program Eligibility Criteria • Must be low-income, Pell-eligible student-parent or student-guardian pursuing post-secondary education at IRSC. • Must be working or participating in an educational activity at least 20 hours per week.

• Must have gross income at or below 150% of the federal poverty level for family size.

• Must provide preliminary documentation before application will be validated. Documentation types include: ○ Income verification form (if employed in a new job or paid by cash) ○ Pay stubs (last four (4) weekly pay stubs, last two (2) pay stubs if paid bi-weekly or semimonthly, or last pay stub if paid monthly) ○ Self-employment documentation (most recent tax return or year- to-date business records with invoices and receipts for expenses) ○ Education documentation (enrollment verification and schedule) ○ Social Security disability documentation statement from doctor and award letter

Additional Program Requirements • Parental involvement: parents who utilize the grant funding will volunteer at their child’s care center a predetermined amount of time each semester.

• Each parent must attend at least one parent education workshop administered by IRSC each semester he or she is involved with the program. IRSC will monitor and track each parent’s involvement to ensure he or she is abiding by these mandates throughout his or her involvement with the program.

• Each parent must meet with the CCAMPIS Program Coordinator each semester to discuss his or her academic progress, plans and views on his or her child’s care center experience.

• Families must pay a co-payment for childcare based on income and family size.
