In the IRSC Fire Academy Track program, you’ll gain the knowledge and skills you need for a successful fire science career. You’ll be challenged to function as a member of a team through team-building exercises and test your skills in real-world scenarios at the Treasure Coast Public Safety Training Complex at Indian River State College— one of the nation’s top fire training facilities. The final semester of the Academy Track includes the Fire Basic Recruit Academy. Participants must complete the entry processes prior to entering the Academy. Upon successful completion of the Academy, you’ll be required to pass the State of Florida Certification Examination. Credit will be articulated from the Fire Basic Recruit Academy to college credit. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify. Fees and tuition for the fifth semester (Fire Basic Recruit Academy) are covered by financial aid if eligibility remains.
