Prepare for career advancement in fire services or fire protection with a degree from IRSC! The Associate in Science Degree in Fire Science Technology is a selective-admissions program exclusively for currently certified firefighters. It is designed to be taken part-time and online to further enhance your training and skills. Graduates typically find employment as firefighters, investigators, fire protection and detection specialists, fire engineers and safety inspectors.
At IRSC you will be part of a cohort that receives a wellrounded, college education with a strong foundation in fire science, and participate in drill and ceremony, physical fitness training and fire traditions with the support of a faculty advisor/mentor throughout the program. You’ll be challenged to function as a member of a team through team-building exercises and test your skills in real-world scenarios at the Treasure Coast Public Safety Training Complex at Indian River State College—one of the nation’s top fire-training facilities. The program includes an internship with a local fire agency, preparing you for a successful career in fire science and opportunities to meet local agency officials. Applicants must • Complete the IRSC Application for Admission and • Submit official high school or GED® transcript, previous college transcripts and college placement scores (ACT®, SAT® or P.E.R.T.)—as appropriate. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.
