Prepare for a professional career in law enforcement! IRSC offers a two-year Law Enforcement Academy Track in a structured format that provides students with the skills, abilities and education for a successful law enforcement career. During this two-year degree program, students will complete: • An Associate in Science Degree in Criminal Justice Technology and • The Law Enforcement Basic Recruit Academy. Graduates are eligible for certification as a law enforcement professional in Florida and typically find employment in law enforcement agencies, correctional institutions, juvenile courts, social service agencies, crime laboratories and security agencies.

The IRSC Law Enforcement Academy Track is a dual-track program that exposes students to a strong educational foundation in collegiate-level general education and major field criminal justice courses while receiving training in law enforcement structure and discipline. Applicants must • Be at least 18 years of age prior to the end of the first semester; • Have earned a high school diploma or its equivalent; • Pass a drug screening and background investigation; • Pass placement testing; • Possess good moral character; • Not falsify any entrance documents; • Have no felony conviction or misdemeanor conviction involving false statement or perjury as an adult; • Complete the Academic Program Questionnaire; • Submit documentation to note accomplishments or to explain events in your life; • Submit Agency Sponsorship form (if applicable); • Complete the Criminal Justice Institute Program Information Sheet; and • Maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA for each semester to continue in the program. The final semester of the Academy Track includes the Law Enforcement Basic Recruit Academy. Participants must complete the entry processes prior to entering the Academy. Upon successful completion of the Academy, you’ll be required to pass the State of Florida Certification Examination. Credit will be articulated from the Law Enforcement Basic Recruit Academy to college credit. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify. During semester five, students are responsible for tuition, texts, materials, supplies and uniforms unless financial aid eligibility remains.
