Prepare to join the ranks of the best-trained office support personnel. IRSC offers three office administration programs to help you develop valued skills. They are flexible clock-hour programs with open-entry—you can begin at any time. Financial aid is available to those who qualify.
Each Career and Technical Education program consists of common courses—most are 75 hours in length. Explore office careers while completing the first two courses—Office Skills Training I and Office Skills Training II—before making a commitment to a particular program. If your career goal changes following completion of the program, you can return to complete a second program without starting from the beginning. Administrative Office Specialist This program focuses on broad, transferable skills and includes on-the-job training. Medical Administrative Specialist This program stresses the requirements of the medical secretarial industry, such as terminology, computerized patient billing, appointment scheduling, record keeping, medical terminology, machine transcription and word processing. Legal Administrative Specialist This program stresses the requirements of the legal secretarial industry, such as terminology, planning, management, finance, technical and production skills, and underlying principles of technology. Requirements • Must be at least 16 years of age. • High school diploma or GED® is not required. • Minimum TABE test score is required if high school graduation occurred prior to 2007. GED® is a registered trademark of the American Council on Education (ACE) and administered exclusively by GED Testing Service LLC under license.
