I began taking classes at Indian River State College in 2010 and was able to make the jump from service tech to assistant electrical

engineer. Then I returned to IRSC in 2016 to earn an Associate Degree. The degree, along with additional, specialized training I received with

my employer, prepared me to move into the role of electrical engineer, replacing someone who retired. —Andrew Boulay Electrical Engineer, Auto Labe

Maverick Boat Group has used services and training at Indian River State

College for many years. Most recently, IRSC tailored a 12-month program— the Maverick Leadership Academy—to our specifications with the goal of

providing our supervisors with leadership and soft-skills training we feel are

important to being an effective supervisor. We chose to partner with IRSC to provide the training, instructors and facilities because of our past, favorable experience with IRSC and their instructors; their vast expertise in providing leadership and soft skills training; and their state-of-the-art facilities located in Fort Pierce. —Stephen M. Apprenticeship Programs Piper In response to increasing demand for high-quality manufacturing employees, and in cooperation with Indian River State College, Piper Aircraft, Inc. in 2019 launched an accredited apprenticeship program. Participants engage in on-the-job training delivered by Piper subject-matter experts and classroom instruction delivered by Indian River State College. At the program’s conclusion, each successful apprentice qualifies as a Journeyman in Aircraft Assembly and has the educational foundation to pursue a long-term career with growth potential as a Piper employee.

Treasure Coast Manufacturing Association (TCMA) IRSC can manage, facilitate and deploy your apprenticeship programs. An excellent example is the fast-track manufacturing apprenticeship sponsored by TCMA. Accepted students combine on-the-job learning—through employment with local manufacturers—with evening classes at the IRSC Corporate and Community Training Institute. Upon completion, successful apprentices earn a national, industry-recognized credential, the Industrial Manufacturing Technician (IMT) and the Manufacturers Skill Standards Council (MSSC) Certified Production Technician (CPT) certification.

Corporate and Community Training Institute at IRSC CCTI offers non-credit training, consulting and continuing education such as licensing and certification courses, seminars and workshops. In the past year, CCTI hosted 128 total training events involving 2,580 students totaling 3,159 training hours. Clients for CCTI’s Regional Manufacturing Sector Workforce Development Programs range widely in size. These include Lincoln Park Career Pathways Initiative, Career Source Research Coast, Okeechobee Correctional Center and Walmart.
