Destination Overview
LOS CABOS, MEXICO
LOS CABOS, MEXICO Cabo San Lucas, where the sea, sun and desert join to cast an air of mystery and romance over all who visit. Cabo was once a tranquil fishing village and, in times long ago, a hangout for pirates. Although no longer the fishing village of old, and not many of the old pirates are seen around town any more, the magic of Cabo remains. Cabo is still small and charming by any standards, with a population of fewer than 30,000. Cabo has come of age. Located at the southernmost tip of the magnificent Baja peninsula, Cabo has been blessed with what many describe as the perfect climate. Average year-round temperature is 78 degrees; it is a little cooler in the winter and a bit warmer in the summer. For years Cabo was the remote playground reserved solely for private yacht owners. They flocked here to be near “Marlin Alley”, as the waters around Cabo have often been described. The name is well
deserved, as Cabo San Lucas is the undisputed billfish capital of the world. But Cabo is far from remote these days, and the attraction of this magical spot is no longer limited to marlin fishing. Cabo can be many different things to people. Cabo San Lucas has become known as the perfect vacation spot for the entire family. Cabo can be as quiet, romantic and relaxing as any secret hideaway. It can be as lively as anyone can possibly imagine. If your wish is to enjoy a quiet candlelight dinner, “muy romantico”, beside the shimmering sea for just the two of you, they have some of the most romantic dining spots on the face of the earth. If golf, water sports, boating, fishing, ATV’s, horseback riding and numerous other activities are what you seek, they’re all here, waiting for you. If “party till you drop” is the mood of the evening, Cabo has got it for you, big time!

Destination Overview
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico
SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO Few Caribbean cities are as steeped in Spanish tradition as Puerto Rico’s Old San Juan. Originally built as a fortress, the old city’s myriad attractions include restored 16th-century buildings and 200-year-old houses with balconies of filigreed wrought iron that overlook narrow cobblestone streets. Spanish traditions are also apparent in the countryside -- from the festivals celebrated in honor of small-town patron saints to the paradores, inexpensive but accommodating inns whose concept originated in Spain. Puerto Rico, 110 miles (177 km) long and 35 miles (56 km) wide, was populated by several tribes of Indians (primarily the Taíno) when Columbus landed during his second voyage in 1493. In 1508 Juan Ponce de León, the frustrated seeker of the Fountain of Youth, established a settlement on the island and became its first governor; in 1521 he founded what would become
known as Old San Juan. For three centuries the French, Dutch, and English tried unsuccessfully to wrest the island from Spain. In 1897 Spain granted the island dominion status and a year later -- as a result of the Spanish-American War -- Spain ceded it to the United States. In 1917 Puerto Ricans became U.S. citizens, and in 1952 Puerto Rico became a semiautonomous commonwealth. Music is a special source of Puerto Rican pride, and the brash Latin sound is best characterized by the music and dance form known as salsa, which shares not only its name with the Spanish word for “sauce” but also a zesty, hot flavor. This fusion of West African percussion, jazz (especially swing and big band) and other Latin beats (mambo, merengue, flamenco, cha-cha, and rumba) is sexy and primal. Dancing to it is a chance to let go of inhibitions.

Wear comfortable shoes and light clothing, grab your camera, and get ready to marvel at the perfect marriage of the past and the present on the very lived-in streets. A walking tour is a wonderful way to get acquainted with the Old City.
3.- Fishing Fishing in Puerto Rico takes many forms, the most dramatic of which is deep-sea fishing for billfish. The north side of the island is known as “Blue Marlin Alley because of the large number of migrating fish that pass
near its shores, especially in the summer. Puerto Rico is home to the International Billfish Tournament and specimens in excess of 1,000 pounds have been recorded.
4.- Golf If you love golf, you’re going to love Puerto Rico, the golf capital of the Caribbean. There are currently 23 spectacular golf courses on the island. You don’t need to be a world champ to appreciate the beauty and variety of our courses. Most have
been designed by golf luminaries such as Robert Trent Jones, his son Rees Jones, Greg Norman, George and Tom Fazio, Jack Nicklaus, Arthur Hills, and Puerto Rico’s own Chi Chi Rodríguez. The courses are feats of landscape architecture that impress golfers and non-players alike.
5.- Horseback Riding You can go horseback riding along a beautiful beach, follow a trail through a tropical rain forest, or amble through a coffee plantation high in the mountains. For the adventurous, the most spectacular horseback
rides are in the area around Cerro de Punta near Jayuya, the highest mountain on the island. Trails cross countless creeks and flowery meadows, and you can admire the breathtaking view of both the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.
6.- Snorkeling/Scuba Diving Puerto Rico’s tropical waters are a diver’s paradise. The average ocean temperature is 81ºF and underwater visibility averages from 60 to 75 feet near the beach. Offshore it is easily 100 feet or more! While experienced divers may prefer boat diving, there are countless sites – especially on the northeast coast near Aguadilla and Isabela – for equally impressive shore diving.
Wherever you go underwater you are likely to find tropical flora and fauna that easily eclipse the most beautiful aquarium you have ever seen. Dive Puerto Rico and you may get “up close and personal” with sea horses that look like chess set knights, unusual arrow crabs, colorful parrot fish, and octopus, among the endless schools of sergeant majors and other colorful reef fish.
Team Building Ideas The following team building suggestions have been developed specifically with the demographics of your group in mind. GBA will continue to work closely with you to develop the kind of activity or ongoing event that best works to meet the objectives and achieve goals you desire.
Ideal Image Pin Trading Party The idea of trading pins became popular with both the winter and summer games of the Olympics. It was an activity that first encouraged the athletes from different countries to interact comfortably while overcoming inherent language barriers. It quickly spread to visitors from around the world who would attend the games to support their country and athletes who represented them. It has ultimately become the international language for the Olympic movement bringing together people united in their effort to buy, collect and trade the Olympic pins. GBA has taken this same concept and developed an event specifically for the guests of Ideal Image. The unique thing about this activity is that it can take place in one evening, for example at a welcome cocktail party, or, over several days culminating on the final evening.
Description of Pins Depending on budget might determine the quality of pins. Available in all varieties from plastic to gold CloisonnĂŠ, it would be easy to mix and match quality to make certain pins more coveted than others. GBA also recommends that Ideal Image uses pin theme as an attraction in allowing guests to develop a trading strategy of their for. What follows are some examples: 1) Pins with a product oriented theme (i.e. what pin designs can we develop around the actual product or service that Ideal Image provides) 2) Pins with geographical application. (i.e. where are your guests traveling from / states, cities, etc. ) For example, people who live in Philadelphia might encourage us to make a liberty bell pin, NY, a big apple pin, etc 3) Letter or number pins. Pins that spell out key phrases such as #1 , win , etc. 4) Sports themed pins 5) Transportation style pins (cars, planes, autos, trains) 6) Corporate logo or specialty pins 7) Pin design contest for your region pre trip.
of strategies they might employ. A master of ceremonies welcome guests, provides an overview of the evenings activities and encourages traders on different strategies throughout the evening. Also included are special traders. These are usually 3 – 5 people selected from the home office who have a special supply of pins that none of the group traders have. They mix among the crowd allowing guests to trade for the pins they have but also require that the guest perform for the pin or pins they desire. This may include performing a song or some other challenge on the main stage and in front of the rest of the group. At the end of the evening each person will visit the scorers table where they will review the pins they have collected and the strategy they employed. Prizes are awarded for best trading strategy, most unique strategy, quality of pins collected, best single trade, best overall trader.
Trading Strategies 1) Trading for product related pins 2) Trading for special pins 3) Trading for theme category pins 4) Trading for letters and numbers (spell out key product phrases)
Multi-Day Event GBA can provide ideas to stretch this event out over the length of the program. The advantages for doing so are as follows 1) Guests are encouraged to continue their interaction with old and new friends throughout their stay 2) Pins can be provided as amenity gifts each night 3) Pins can be used as a reward for specially recognized performances at meetings and other training events 4) Special traders are given a very useful role to encourage total group participation throughout the conference 5) Increasing the length of the event has virtually no effect on costs with the exception of purchase of some additional pins
Event Inclusions 1) Special hat, visor, fanny pack or towel gift for each guest 2) Supply of pins for each guest and special trader 3) Cost for special design pins 4) Strategy trading and score cards 5) Special signage and opening night AV costs (nominal) 6) 4 – 6 prizes 7) GBA staff to coordinate
Logistics
Summary
As the Pin Trading Event encourages both networking interaction and friendly but, at times, spirited competition, guests may participate individually or as teams. GBA suggests production of the Pin Trading Event be incorporated into an opening evening cocktail mixer as it encourages guests to interact reacquainting old friendships while encouraging new. Upon arrival, each guest is provided with a hat, visor, fanny pack or towel in which a pre-determined allotted number of pins are affixed. While there are certainly duplications each person is given a certain variety of their own pin stock from which they can trade. They are also provided with a card which describes the rules of the event and the different types
GBA has produced their pin trading party for groups as small as 15 and as many as 1400. It has always been extremely well received and commented on as a truly effective networking event. One where strong bonds are renewed and new friendships made. This is an extremely affordable event and can be completely pre-produced and self contained prior to arrival. It encourages you management team and guests to become involved prior to the event in the design of specialty pins and securing pins of their own which they might bring with them. In the end, the beauty of the Pin Trading Party is that everyone leaves with their own collection of pins and memories
Eco Challenge The Ideal Image Eco challenge is the mother of all team building event and is designed to include the following athletic disciplines: • Ocean Kayaking • Swimming • Bike Riding • 3K foot race • ATV • Desert Dune Buggies • Zip line Challenge
At the conclusion of the above activities, participants switch with bikers going to running and runners to bikes Pairing four: for this pairing all teams are transferred to a location where they will complete together as a group in any of the following challenges Off Road ATV: After a trail ride for fun 2 competitors from each team will be selected to participate on a pre-designed obstacle course where they will race against the clock and on behalf of their team
Incorporating of these activities into one event requires teams to plan strategy and work together to complete our eco challenge. Teams are judged based on the overall and individual Discipline times. It is essential that teams are created based on athletic ability of individual members to insure all have an equal chance to compete and win.
Off road Dune Buggies: same principle as ATV’s applies
Logistics’:
Event Includes: (based on 10 teams)
All teams are established with captains designated prior to the event. At a pre-event captains briefing, complete challenge information and rules are provided. This will help each captain to determine which participants on their respective teams will participate in specific disciplines. The event itself is run in separate heats. To begin the event the teams will be divided according to which discipline they will be participating and transferred to a location where their specific activities will take place. All participants will be required to participate in at least 4 separate activities and may select from the following discipline pairings
• 20 Ocean Kayaks • 40 Mountain Bikes • 40 ATV rentals • 16 Dune Buggies • Zip Line Course rental • Transportation • Staffing • Course design • Water stations / Lunch • Team awards
Pairing one Ocean Kayaking: requires four participants from each team: Will be transferred to a coastal location where, working in teams of two they will be required to paddle three miles through the ocean and along the coast to complete their challenge Ocean swim: requires four participants from each team: In the same general area where the kayakers are performing they will be required to swim a course approximately ½ mile long along the coast (the distance for this portion of the event can be adjusted based on group abilities) At the conclusion of the above two activities participants switch disciplines with swimmers going to kayaks and kayakers going to swimming.
Pairing Two Bike race: requires four participants from each team to race mountain bikes off road through a course approximately 10 kilometers long Foot race: each participate is required to complete a 3 kilometer off road foot race
Zip Line Challenge: Six competitors per team will participate in the Zip Line Challenge which will require that they ride 8 separate Zip Lines and are judged on aerial technique and performance to score points for their team.
Summary: Please note that because of the extreme nature of some of the activities included in the Eco challenge careful consideration must be given to what activities are to actually be included or if the overall event or specific activities included within should be shortened in duration and or length. We have described here a complete challenge but for safety or budget considerations, abbreviated versions of our Eco Challenge can be designed to be fits the needs and skills of the Ideal Image group. A complete event is estimated to last a full 8 hour day and must include lunch. We would suggest that the morning event paring begin early in the day or no later than 10 am start requiring a departure from the hotel between 8:30 – 9am. Based on this estimate lunch could take place at around one where the entire group would be assembled at the multi-adventure park. Afternoon activities would then include ATV/ Dune Buggies/ and Zip Line Challenge, all which would begin at 2pm. All activities would end at approximately 4:30pm and group would return to the hotel at around 5 – 5:30pm While participants of any age can participate in any part of this event, we suggest that it best fit groups with a profile of guests between the ages of 25 – 45.
Road Rally This team building activity is much like to Scavenger hunt incorporating cryptic clues and directions to guide participants/team members through the rally course. The primary difference is the use of rental vans and drivers which allows teams to cover more ground and see more destination sights. Rally checkpoints are provided along the course to keep teams on track. This is not a race based on time. While we encourage teams to stay on schedule but do not reward any team for racing through the course for safety concerns. The rally event allows you consider just things as visits to museums, shops and other historical sights provided for in the destination itself. It also allows us the opportunity to separate teams at the start of the event and send them off in different directions to insure that one team does not simply follow another through the course. Challenges include finding specific locations, answering specific destination trivia questions, taking pictures and collecting requested items, all which are brought back to the official scorers at the conclusion of the event.
Again, this event can terminate at a downtown restaurant or other special location where dinner and a rally ending party can take place. The event itself excluding possible dinner afterwards would last a minimum of 3 hours and maximum of 5.
Suggested inclusions: 1) Van and Driver for each team 2) Rally kits to include backpack, rally map and printed challenges, escape envelope, portable first aid kit 3) Polaroid Camera and film 4) GBA rally officials 5) Four rally checkpoints with dĂŠcor 6) Water and misc soft drinks at checkpoints (optional) 7) Team briefing prior to event 8) Individual winning team awards 9) Dinner and wrap party (optional 10) ATV stop and ride (optional) 11) Team t-shirts (optional
Cabo Carnage Scavenger Hunt The Cabo Carnage Scavenger Hunt is the most fun one can have on their feet. Designed to take your guests in and around the resort property or other pre-determined location, they are either on their own or working with teammates to decipher the clues we provide them and meet challenges presented
Logistics: Working together in teams of 8 – 10 people each, each team is provided with all of the items they will need to navigate through the event successfully. Again, each team designates their own captain who is responsible for directing others during actual participation in the event. Cryptic clues are provided which must be deciphered and followed to specific locations. Once the location is discovered, each team will be faced with a challenge or riddle. This may be as simple as taking a picture or as hard as discovering the answer to a riddle with which they have been presented. Once the challenge is completed the team moves on until they each discover the way home from the place where they all began. Hand held GPS units might also be added which give add truly high tech feel to the overall experience. Using the GPS units to guide them, we can bring participants to within 10 feet of exact locations allowing us to make that which they seek smaller and more well hidden. (GPS units can be provided to members of the winning team)
Judging is based not on the fastest team to navigate the course but rather the most creative in meeting the challenges we have created along the way, items collected and pictures taken. The course can be set up either on property or at a downtown location which allows GBE to incorporate shopkeepers and stores into the guest participant adventure
Suggested possible inclusions 1) Personalized scavenger hunt routing, map, clues, challenges, riddles 2) Polaroid camera and film , backpack 3) GBA officials on course 4) Signs and dĂŠcor for official scavenger hunt checkpoints 5) Hand Held GPS unit for each team (optional) 6) Drivers and van for each team (optional) 7) Team T-shirts (optional) 8) Drinks (water, juices) at rally checkpoints (optional) 11) Dinner and event wrap party (optional) This event will last a minimum of 2 hours and up to 5 hours excluding dinner and extensive nature of rally course. Everything is created personally to meet the needs of the guests of Ideal Image
Super Sports The beaches of Cabo San Lucas are the perfect location for a fun filled day of team sports and friendly competition as GBA suggests production of the Ideal Image “Resort Sports of All Sorts.” GBA suggests the type of beach events that both capture the imagination and excitement, bringing out the natural competitive nature in all of us in a spirit of friendly camaraderie.
Logistics This event begins with the division of teams and selection of team captains for the event. Based on the size of the group we would suggest 6 – 8 teams. That would mean about 15 people per team. The decision on how to divide the group sometimes follow company region or divisional lines but this is something we leave up to Ideal Image to decide how to create the best interaction in team development and leadership. GBA, based on prior experience suggests that if spouses are included in the event they are put on separate teams and captains be chosen from the ranks of line employees rather than management. Onsite, a captains briefing will be scheduled prior to the event (usually the evening before). This allows us to explain how the event will work and their roles and responsibilities as captains. We find that such a briefing is critical in getting the captains comfortable with their role and teams excited about the upcoming event. GBA suggests that this event take place on the first full day afternoon so that guests may get to know each other as teammates and competitors early on in the conference. We find that the enthusiasm generated by the event is something guests can build on throughout their stay. Teams are provided information about the event in arrival packets along with a list of their teammates. Doing so in advance encourages them to seek these teammates ahead of time. On the day of the event, if there is a morning meeting we suggest that team t-shirts be worn to encourage early team building camaraderie. Teams will collect on the beach or at the designated location for the event at approximately 1pm. Once there, the game ball is delivered by the President or other appropriate VIP to much fanfare (skydive, jet ski, ultra light, etc.). The games begin with all events starting simultaneously. Everything runs on schedule as
teams rotate from event to event. Events are created to allow for maximum participation by each member of the team and are timed rather than scored allowing each team to score points for simply completing events. Non physical activities such as team trivia and team spirit are also score points and are judged and scored by event officials. The event ends with the performance of a team cheer presented to the officials and the rest of the group by each individual team. Scoring takes place immediately and results can be provided to the group within 30 minutes of the end of the last presented team cheer.
Event Inclusions 1) All Captains rules, schedule of events and other printed instructions 2) Personalized scoreboard / scorers tent 3) Portable Sound System 4) Three small ten by ten canopies for shade 5) All necessary sports equipment for 7 separate events 6) Personalized Trivia challenge (to include company related trivia) 7) On Site paramedics 8) Personalized color coded team t-shirts 9) GBA set up and tear down crew 10) Event Officials 11) All miscellaneous supplies 12) Awards (individual for each winning team member and 5 special category awards)
Event Challenges 1) Volleyball / 9 players per team / free substitution) 2) Obstacle Course / 6 players per team 3) 4 person sack race / 12 players per team 4) Run Chug (race through tires, drink small 8 oz beer / relay) 8 players 5) Ocean encounter (2 person relays) 6 players per team 6) Ping Pong scrabble ( entire team participates) 7) Team Trivia (entire team / works on event throughout the afternoon) 8) Team Cheer (entire team) • Please note that there are several other events from which we might suggest to substitute for the above list
