Fantasy, objectivit y, creativit y, technique, design, ser vice and purpose would be the precise words to

describe my life. Legos, coloring books, and crayons were the protagonists of my childhood; however, many of them continue to be essential in my day to day life. Years later, my creative essence became architecture; more precisely, interior architecture. Thus, I know that Interior Architecture at FIU is the best place to complete my education because it has the ideal balance bet ween the theorical and practical. For this reason, it will be possible for me to develop and sharpen my skills to the fullest.

I studied Architecture and Interior Design for 7 years in Costa Rica. However, my passion is Interior

Architecture because it represents the materialization of an idea through a container of emotions that has to be designed as a passive therapy. In other words, it must be an oasis, a pause of emotional well-being in people’s daily life. As a result, I have always believed and emphasized the resilient characteristic which architecture transfers to its users; In the same way, I believe in the value of architecture as a means of social transformation through communit y ser vice. For these reasons, I worked as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanit y Costa Rica and Techo Costa Rica. In the first organization, I conducted research on the development of an environmentally friendly house for the benefit of the communit y of Nosara, Guanacaste. In the second organization, I was part of the team of Redesign and Construction, where the thematic a xis always was architecture as a medium of social impact. Later, I made the interior redesign of a soft ware development of fice obtaining a ver y positive result in the collaborators. Also, the redesign included the renewal of the logo and the business cards. Consequently, these activities raised my desire and determination to be an architect.

I consider myself a highly creative person, ver y hard-working, committed, conscientious and ex tremely

sensitive to life. A reflection of my personalit y is my hobbies; they are: the design and creation of jewelr y, reading, yoga, exercising, and spending time with the people I love. Nevertheless, throughout people’s lives there are experiences that transform their way of being, thinking and perceiving life. For these reasons, life is exceptionally beautiful. In this manner, my case was to face and overcome with gratitude an open-heart surger y, carried out three years ago at Miami Children Hospital, which made me know and value, even more, the beautiful and powerful qualit y of resilience. Therefore, my desire to create resilient architecture has been strengthened because it provides peace, tranquilit y and protection to its users. As a result, I decided to use my acquired knowledge, due to my own experience, to project it for the benefit of people through my thesis. Accordingly, my graduation project at Veritas Universit y, Costa Rica, approached a ver y detailed research about the management, and a general design of a pediatric hospital for the treatment of congenital heart disease. Hence, I decided to name it “HE + Ar.T” which was nominated for an honorar y thesis during my public defense.

I have witnessed that the purpose of architecture is social ser vice, and the architectural foundations lie

in its formation. Nowadays, more than ever, the need for resilient spaces is present. Because of this, I cannot find a better way to help societ y than the use of creativit y and my skills to design resilient spaces. After all, “Any work of architecture which does not express serenit y is a mistake.” -Luis Barragán.

[ Concept ] Yoga Center’s interior is designed under the principles of Feng Shui with the purpose to cause an Emotional Catharsis on the yogis. In other words, the designing interior’s main objective is to achieve emotional well-being through the release of thoughts that disturb the mind or ner vous balance, so Yoga Center makes it possible through the meditation practice in a comfortable and peaceful interior.

At the same time, the magic of the place is given by the presence of natural light under passive strategies of design based on the natural light cycle. In brief, the design promotes a lighting metaphor.
