Lit-Rato The project entitled “Lit-Rato” is a digital photography portfolio revolving around the subject of
Art and The Body. The
creators of the project are students from the taking up the general course subject called Art Appreciation. The project title is inspired by the Filipino “Litrato” and when translated to english it means photo. The word Litrato was hyphenated to create the project title “Lit-rato” since the creators wanted to give emphasis on the “Lit” part which stands for literature.

BODY POSITIVITY PAGE THREE| JERRY TIENG
Wanting to redefine the meaning and look of beautiful and sexiness, Jerry Tieng, a local photographer took the initiative to start Project 100 PH that aims to empower women and advocate for body positivity through a fantastic and artistic approach of a nude shoot of 100 women from ages 18 above with different backgrounds, shape, size and lifestyles together with other local photographers.
Thoughts. By Angela Bautista
Among the 100 photographs, these two spoke and resonated with me. Social media is filled with images of what a perfect body is like and society has been aggressively telling women like me that the body that I have can never be considered beautiful no matter how much I try to hide though clothes. It’s comforting to see artists use their platform to create a movement toward body positivity and advocate for women empowerment. In this day and age, we need to redefine the beauty standards that society has been telling us. Our human bodies go through many unexplainable things and it changes beyond our control. No one should feel compelled to succumb to the impossible standards set by the society.

YOUR SELF
NOW, SHE IS
SARAH BLACK
In her 15th year in the photography industry, Sarah Black revelled by opening a fair, "Now, She Is". The trivial exhibit solemnized womanly profiles with relentless bare and nude snapshots. She was inclined towards portraying women upon a female's point of view, and wipe out any animalistic tension that is present from a manly look. To throw out peccability and pudency from the trials
of women getting a shot bare-naked, together with tearing out the malefaction and loss of face from an individual setting his or her eyes on undressed bodies, her aim was not to substantiate the female body, but to simulate and impersonate it as being delicate and elegant.

Thoughts. By Lorraine R. Yu Among the photographs of Sarah Black, what struck me the most is the one in the previous page. Though I cannot verily speculate and express my sentiments for all males since I am undeniably a woman, still, in my observations at being aware with how there are nude photographic porfolios with bare bodies of women shot by males, there unmistakably is sexual constrictions. Sarah Black broke the walls of such mentality by capturing women in their bodies gently, resplendently, and undefeatedly, somehow communicating a notion of women empowerment to her photograph's audience.

Maal Simbajon TATOO ARTIST As a tattoo artist, Maal Simbajon always saw beauty in the pain of getting tattoos. Aside from tattoos being a form of strong selfexpression, Simbajon believes that it is a form of healing. In which people could turn to tattoos to heal themselves and make themselves stronger despite going through troubles. The permanence of tattoos is also an important factor to consider and Simbajon particularly states that she would rather the customers think deeply about getting a tattoo than just rushing and regretting their decisions. Simbajon also wants to prove to people that women could also make large-scale tattoos. Despite currently being a minimalist tattoo artist, Simbajon wants to expand her skillsets to fit her vision and goals as an artist.

Thoughts. By Wilbert Tan
The piece that I resonated with the most was the family portrait as a tattoo. As a person, I’m very family oriented and I see the value in maintain close ties with the people that matter. Seeing a tattoo artist integrate the very family portrait of a person into a tattoo is very refreshing and it is a step further from majority of the tattoo art that other people use.

Niccolo Cosme’s work stood out to me because of how passionate he is with his work. Having someone like him who stood up about them and being that till this day it is still a sensitive topic .Personally, I also have people close to me who are part of the LGBTQ community. I saw first hand of how they were suppressed and made fun of.
