Welcome Endeavour is a place where we are respectful, responsible, and safe learners every day! Without the support of our families and community, we would not be able to make a difference in the lives of all of our Endeavour Jaguars!
Mission Endeavour Jaguars strive to create an inclusive learning community so all students are inspired and empowered to be kind, life-long learners. We work to do this through collaboration among our staff, students, families, and community.

Data from the Office of the Superintendent of Instruction (OSPI) State testing is required by Washington State (RCW 28A.230.095) and federal law. The federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), enacted in 1965, is the nation’s national education law and shows a longstanding commitment to equal opportunity for all students. On December 10, 2015 President Obama reauthorized ESEA as the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). These state and federal laws result in elementary students being regularly tested by the State to assess their progress as they move through school. State tests at the elementary level which fulfill the federal Every Student Succeeds Act include the following: • Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBA): English Language Arts (ELA) and Math tests (3-5) • Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS): Science test (5)

COVID-19 Pandemic In an effort to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Governor Jay Inslee ordered all schools in Washington closed as of March 17, 2020. While the initial order mandated school closures only through April 24, 2020, the order was extended to the end of the 2019-2020 school year due to increasing COVID-19 infection numbers across the state. The Issaquah School District submitted its plan for remote learning at the end of March 2020, and remote learning began for all students on Monday, April 20. Students and staff moved to an online classroom setting, using various platforms such as SeeSaw, Classlink, and Office 365. District laptops and internet hotspots were distributed to families in need, and free meals were still provided for families qualifying for the Free and Reduced Lunch program at designated pick up spots around the district daily.
Highlights Our School Improvement Plan continues to focus on improving the reading skills for all of our students. Finding ways for students to make a minimum years’ worth of growth is a goal for all staff, for all students. We strive to do this through: • • • • • • •
Developing school-wide systems to build a culture around being respectful, responsible, and safe learners. Providing professional development for certificated and classified staff around powerful literacy, and math, practices. Empowered the Building Leadership Team to created differentiated professional development for staff – distributed leadership. Developed a Tier 2/Tier 3 Team to create powerful Multi-Tiered Systems of Support for students with behavior as well as academic concerns. Piloted the SWISS Data System to track and analyze behaviors across the building and create supports for staff and students. Continue to improve structures to collaboratively analyze student work, develop differentiated lessons, and focus on data driven decision making. 15 staff members participated in the i-Ready Math Pilot to implement a normed, differentiated, personalized learning program to students at their specific math level. The pilot will be expanded in the 2020-2021 school year.
Many of the PTSA events that happen in the Spring had to be canceled due to the school closure – but remain a powerful part of the Endeavour Culture: • Jag-a-Thon (Fall 2019) • Spooky Spaghetti (Fall 2019) • Gift & Food Drive (Winter 2019) • Book Fair (Winter 2019) • Culture Night (Winter 2019) • Eager Reader (Winter 2019) • Science Fair (Canceled) • BINGO Night (Canceled) • Art Walk (Canceled)
Improving Student Achievement
During the 2019-2020 school year, the focus was on supporting students that were a year or more behind grade level. Using data driven decision, piloting personalized learning programs, and continuing to implement classrooms strategies such as GLAD (Guided Language Acquisition by Design) to support ELL students and small group instruction teachers were able to develop focused lessons to address the needs of all students in their classroom. Determining the need of technology in the classrooms, a tech audit was conducted and laptops distributed to get to a 1:1 ratio of devices in 3rd through 5th grade classrooms and 2:1 ratio in Kindergarten through 2nd grade classrooms. Teachers continue to find unique ways to support students – though an Issaquah Schools Foundation grant a teacher was able to convert her classroom to have flexible seating. As a staff we continued to learn more about inclusive practices throughout the year including intervention cycles, block scheduling, and differentiated instructional practices across all content areas.
Special Programs
Endeavour hosts one of two district MERLIN programs for highly capable students. The MERLIN program is a selfcontained model serving students in grades 3-5. Kindergarten through 5th grade students who do not qualify for the MERLIN program, but are highly capable participate in SAGE, a program designed to enrich and challenge students in academic areas. Endeavour also hosts a Learning Resource Center focused on students needing additional academic support, Learning Assistance Program (LAP) to support developing readers, and English Language Learner (ELL) program to support students learning English.
Before and After School
Endeavour offers a variety of extra-curricular programs. Some of these include Art Class, Chess Club, Choir, Coding Classes, Drama Class, E-Kids, Green Team, Global Reading, Homework Club, Math Club, Robotics, Safety Patrol, Spanish Club, and Student Council.
Celebrations
The new 700 wing was completed and students and staff were able to learn together in the updated area of our school. Along with other construction projects, our playground was also updated to include a new, larger play structure for students to enjoy.
Just So You Know
Endeavour Elementary has a supportive parent community in addition to our outstanding professional staff. Our PTSA is committed to ensuring the learning success of all students and leads fundraising efforts to enhance curriculum with hands-on learning opportunities. PTSA provides strong support to classroom curriculum and instruction by funding science and art enrichment programs as well as providing teacher/grade level grants. Once again this year PTSA supported our building goals in literacy with a grant to provide additional resources and support for students, specifically through purchasing over 20 laptops to address our personalized learning needs to support the learning of all students.
State Testing Two tests given to elementary school students—The Smarter Balanced Assessment and the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science help indicate how well Issaquah students are learning.
COVID-19 Disclaimer
Due to early facility closure and suspension of end of year testing, 2019-2020 assessment data is not available. The data below relfects the school’s scores for the 2018-2019 school year.
Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA)
The SBA consists of two parts: a computer adaptive test and a performance task. Writing is included at every grade level and students are asked to solve multi-step, real-world problems in math. Performance tasks ask students to determine an array of research, writing, and problem solving skills. The SBA results describe student achievement (how much students know at the end of the year). The Grade Level Total ELA and Grade Level Total Math charts on the right-hand side of the page indicate the percent of students in third, fourth, and fifth grade who met or exceeded standard in ELA and Math on the SBA compared to the percent of students who met or exceeded standard in ELA and Math district-wide.

The WCAS fulfills the federal requirement that students100 be tested in Science once at the elementary level. The WCAS measures the level of proficiency students 80 have achieved (what students know and can do) based on the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). The WCAS assesses all three dimensions of the 60 learning standards (Science and Engineering Practices, Disciplinary Core Ideas, and Crosscutting Concepts). The numbers on the chart represent the percentage of 40 students in grade 5 who met or exceeded standard on the NGSS compared to the percentage of students in 20 grade 5 who met or exceeded standard district-wide.
