I had a dairy in Durgan Nagar, Now shifted here. Plots are cheaper also its next to river, easy to drain waste water. Approach is difficult here.
Promise me for a puccha hosue for villagers, Then I will take you to the real village where people still sleep under a plastic sheet.

Come with me, I will show you the encroached public land parcels being used for private purpose (Gram Samaj Land)
I work in your gated society & earn ₹ 5000 PM. This amount is nothing. I wish to learn & work as a tailor while earning from home only
Land you see behind is all Gram Samaj Land, Take it as an opportunity & make something for the villagers!
4.Transat Walk (8 Walks) Post interview, requesting interviewee to take to the issues or opportunities spots. Helped in knowing insights, routes, and other issues while walking. You wont find any village worst than this. No road, Fresh water, sanitation.
BDA has given us a notice to vacant this area, they say its their land!
Are the villages near Your hometown (Meerut) also in such situation?
We made this kuccha road post monsoon somehow.
Nobody lives there (ongoing BDA’s Development behind village) govt. made that area available everything, not here.
Participation Process : Focusing Bichpuri Village 2. Drawing Competition:
A competition (3rd-6th class) was conducted between 23 village students and were asked what they wish to see in their village, shortlisted 15 entries were asked to sit with their parents and ask them…..

A river that was a frontward for the whole Bichpuri with several nearby villages, has now became a backyard. • Significant drop in the water level • Once a drinkable water today consists mostly of city waste • River Edges reclamation both from village and city. • Going upstream helped in imagining, how the edge would have been before
Nakatiya River & Bahagul River act as the city waste carrier. Currently “NO” Sewage Treatment Plant in the City”

We are not from your locality, but since childhood we still come here to hangout. We used to take bath, wash our cycles, and try to catch fishes. If clean water, and access to the river is possible, that would be really good!

• Activities for kids and youth into empty parcels will avoid re-encroachment of open spaces, and will help to keep them active and clean on the daily basis.
Gram Samaaj Land
Panchayat Ghar as Community Celebrations • A panchayat Ghar is under construction, which is expected to be used for community gatherings like Baarat ghar, Marriage events etc. • Adding activities that certainly do not allow villagers to again defunct the space such as sports, kids play zone etc. • Utilizing the existing Water Clogging point as a rainwater harvesting pond. SDG 11 with inclusive and accessible, green and public spaces, SDG 6 , also ensures healthy, livable neighborhood by eliminating dumping & ensuring sanitization.
1. Community Park – Vocational Centre
2. Panchayat Ghar & Activities
3. Vocational Centre for Women
Vocational Centre
• The purpose of the vocational training center is to encourage and teach poor families to earn their own living. • Women in Bichpuri are very unprivileged. They lack basic infrastructure, education, decent built environment and secure income.
1
• The new vocational school provides professional training and helps the people to start sustainable businesses together. • It is also a place for public gathering and democratic decision-making for the whole community.

4. Creating a Common Ground Temple - Primary School
Presently, Kids of the Primary school don’t have a playground or open space.
On the other hand Gram Samaaj land and temple’s open spaces are defunct.
Primary School
Temple
Both The temple and School can have a common ground, School Children keeping it active daily, where as temple can also organize events like Jagran, feast on special occasions.
Expected Volunteer for improving Village’s Education scenario Visitor’s Parking
Several activities within the temple like gaushala can also be activated. School, post children education can educate the villagers as well, with “education for all” moto.
For School Children
Village’s illiteracy rate is 62%. Nearby educational hubs, just across the river can collaborate and form an NGO to help this village get enlightened & educated.
SDG 4 here helps in enhancing quality primary education by having more area for extra curricular activities and allowing visiting faculties/NGO members to come & enlighten. Educating of adults, both men and women ensures literacy, by extending school hours.

PROPOSED BY BDA
5. Rethinking the planned development scheme as Rural Urban Confluence
Both, BDA (Bareilly Developmental Authority) and villagers claim the conflict zone as their land.
Proposed EWS Housing cluster Proposed land for School
The plan proposed by BDA looks very rigid, self centric, and would create a distinct separation between Village and the upcoming residential Development. Bichpuri would soon become a typical Urban Village. A scheme has been developed to resolve the conflict and bridge a relation between both Rural & Urban.

Reaching back to the community
Conclusion
Yes, A little light is beaming in the darkness...in the hope of overcoming it
Fulfilling the needs of community, where SDG goals are embedded very precisely considering those needs which should result into an emerging healthy RURBAN system that becomes a role model for authorities planning for many other such villages lying on the URBAN FRINGES.
“
Reaching back to the community, and discussing the proposals for a go ahead was a must. Since it was for the first time the villagers had an experience of participating into a discussion or design process, they were excited if these can be executed. Unfortunately they had a worry about BDA’s notice that their house under conflict zone will be demolished, they requested to be their voice and help them in resolving the matter.
“
Recalling the way village and the community celebrated Diwali by lighting the dias into dark zones, Similarly the projects will act as an ignition source which would ultimately spread across with the community participation ensuring a good neighborhood as an output.
