Soothing, moisturising and protective. Ally of the skin, it acts by strengthening its barrier function, promoting the balance and diversity of the microbiota and increasing the concentration of good bacteria.

On the skin it performs various functions including barrier regeneration, antiacne and anti-ageing action. Against acne it contributes to the reduction of the quantity of sebum and the colouring of inflammatory signs. It also has a positive action towards fibroblasts for the production of collagen, thus having a favourable effect for maintaining skin elasticity.

Suggested as a preparatory treatment within a more structured path for the resolution of a specific problem. Particularly indicated in those situations in which the skin is clearly affected by certain stresses that can alter the sensitivity and balance of the skin microbiota, resulting in various imperfections including: dration, redness, couperose, dermatitis, inflammation, irritation and acne .

BIOMETHERAPY is a scientific project which is the subject of two degree theses in Industrial Biotechnology of the University of Milan - Bicocca and Biotechnology of the University of Genoa in collaboration with Active Cells, a laboratory specialized in microbiological analysis based in Genoa. The aim of the thesis study was to formulate and test products that were respectful of the microbiota , this is why they were called “Microbiota Friendly”. BIOMETHERAPY products were tested against traditional cosmetic products to demonstrate their beneficial effect on the ‘good’ bacteria, without encouraging the proliferation of “bad” bacteria.

The correct absorption of the cosmetics we use for the care of our skin consequently depends on the good health of the microbiota.

The skin microbiota, that is the set of commensal microorganisms present on the skin, struggles every day to try to maintain an optimal balance; this balance can be easily altered by various external and internal factors, including some cosmetic treatments that can sometimes be too aggressive, not taking into account the health of the microbiota of our skin.

Sensitive skin

Sensitive skin is a subjective condition of skin hyperactivity due to environmental factors, particularly influenced by the use of incorrect cosmetic products, detergents and drugs, further aggravated by climatic factors and pollution. The most sensitive areas are in fact often some parts of the face more exposed to unfavorable climatic conditions and more; this causes a decrease in the barrier function of the epidermis.

Impure skin

Impure skin is characterised by a greater production of sebum which tends to stagnate in the hair infundibulum, giving rise to comedones. Comedones exposed to external factors become dark (black heads) due to cellular oxidation reactions, or are covered by cells of the stratum corneum leading to the formation of white heads. During the development of the latter, there is a blockage of the follicle with a consequent scarcity of oxygen, in which heads some anaerobic species of the microbiota (including Staphylococcus epidermidis, Propionibacterium acnes) tend to proliferate favoring inflammatory processes with consequent formation of acneic manifestations.
