POSITIVE ENERGY OF
THE SUN

ISHI has been a leading player in the field of professional aesthetics and wellness since 1980. It was one of the first in the world to create biocosmeceuticals: incredibly natural formulations, but much more effective and offering far better results than conventional products.

Beauty is all about respect.

ISHI is a sustainable and responsible company. Its high-end cosmetics are made using active ingredients obtained by recovering natural raw materials: pomace, must, seeds, tree bark, and fruit stones that would otherwise go to waste. ISHI reuses and re-ennobles them in its organic cosmeceutical lines. Working with Nature, not exploiting it. The beauty of the future is primarily about respect.

The product is all about the message. ISHI products reflect the people who work for the company and share the same philosophy as the APG Group, which it is part of. Men and women with a fresh take on high-end cosmetics. More natural. More simple. More genuine. To pass on to customers the values they carry in their hearts.

Quality is all about research. High-end cosmetics entails Research. Into raw materials. Into formulations, which are increasingly simple and respectful of human biology. Into the industrial process, which increasingly focuses on sustainability. The high quality of ISHI’s products is born out of the expertise and research conducted by APG Group, backed by its longstanding knowledge and experience in the field of green chemistry.

SUNTHERAPY

WHAT IS IT

ISHI, always up to date and innovative, has formulated its eco-friendly and respectful sun line , which protects the skin from sun damage while at the same time respecting the sea and the planet we live in.

The issues surrounding the use of sunscreen products, which are proven to be very dangerous for the marine environment and its inhabitants, are becoming more and more relevant as they impact remarkably on coral reefs that lose the brilliance of their colors and on fish and molluscs. which could manifest possible alterations of the endocrine system.

ISHI, thanks to the synergy of active molecules together with a pool of organic filters, selected for their photostability and eco-compatibility , offers a complete and effective line for skin and hair protection, during the different tanning phases : skin preparation, active protection during the exposure, and post-exposure skin care.

SUNTHERAPY

PROBLEM

The sun is the earth’s main source of energy , in fact, it provides almost all the energy that nature then uses for physical and chemical processes that also occur in the atmosphere. There would be no form of life without the sun, just as clouds, rain, wind and obviously the cycle of water and life including the process of plant photosynthesis would not exist.

The sun, in addition to being our main source of life, is essential for the metabolism of vitamin D and to regulate the sleep-wake rhythm, it helps us to support our mood, by counteracting anxiety and depression, as well as being a valid ally of our microbiota.

The sun, however, is not only responsible for good actions and excessive and unprotected exposure can lead to problems, some minor, others very serious. These can include slight visible lines or deep wrinkles skin spots, erythema, atony of the tissues, burns, in more serious cases skin cancers, elastosis and collagenosis .

SUNTHERAPY

ISHI’S SOLUTION

ISHI SUNTHERAPY responds with a quadrivalent formulation solution:

SEA

FRIENDLY

The issue of pollution caused by sunscreens is global : it is a well known fact that our waters are also at risk, both for corals and for some particularly delicate species, such as seahorses and sea urchins, the latter very important as they are part of the marine ecosystem food chain, promoting biodiversity.

Sunscreens impact in many harmful ways : putting microalgae and micro organisms that make up phytoplankton at risk, directly damaging corals. Sunscreens are also considered to be potential endocrine disruptors for many marine organisms, including fish, causing hormone imbalances.

Moreover, sunscreens can have an impact on the marine environment but also many other chemicals including perfumes .

What makes the Suntherapy fragrance so wonderful? Its biogradibility . The chosen fragrance is in fact perfectly in line with marine eco-sustainability thanks to its composition.

6

Biodegradable is any polluting chemical compound that when dispersed into the environment decomposes into less polluting compounds

For this reason, it is now essential to pay particular attention to this very important aspect, paving the way to different formulations, or lotions and sun creams that are sea and coral reef friendly .

The perfume selected by ISHI is 100% biodegradable , of which 94.8% defined as Readily biodegradable and 5.2% Inhe rently biodegradable. Biodegradable, as defined by the ECHA criteria, is any compound showing layer to be: readily biodegradable (degrade in wa ter at least 60% in 28 days) inherently biodegradable (degrade in water at least 20% in 28 days)

POOL OF ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY ORGANIC FILTERS

The organic filters were selected for their photostability and eco-compatibility characteristics.

PHENYLBENZIMIDAZOLE SULFONIC ACID

Excellent UVB filter that provides only minimal UVA protection. The UVB range is from 290 to 340 nanometers while the UVA range is from 320 to 400 nanometers. Filter particularly suitable for enhancing the effectiveness of the other fat-soluble filters.

ETHYLHEXYL TRIAZONE

Organic compound used in sunscreens to absorb UVB rays with good water resistance properties.

ETHYLHEXYL SALICYLATE

Organic sunscreen soluble in oil that absorbs UVB rays, filter particularly suitable for water resistance.

8 ISHI’S SOLUTION

DIETHYLAMINO HYDROXYBENZOYL HEXYL BENZOATE (DHHB)

UVA filter, selected for its excellent photostability and for its useful action to counteract the formation of free radicals, thus slowing down the damage induced by photoaging: it has a maximum absorption at 354 nm.

BIS-ETHYLHEXYLOXYPHENOL METHOXYPHENYL

TRIAZINE

It absorbs broad spectrum UV rays, UVA and UVB rays with absorption peaks at 310 and 340 nm.

ISHI’S SOLUTION SYNERGY OF ACTIVE MOLECULES: from the sea to the sea

The functional molecules selected for this line are borrowed from the sea and are destined to return to the sea . During their passage on the mainland, and in particular in ISHI solar products, they can be considered valuable teachers.

The lesson is how to protect yourself, respect yourself and respect the environment in which we are all immersed .

What better than an organism whose perennial habitat are beaches and the sea can teach us to be one with this wonderful environment?

The active molecules extracted from 5 different algae in addition to the Mediterranean sea salt extract , are ingredients selected for their specific activity, thus enriching the formula thanks to their antioxidant, protective and moisturising properties .

10

TISOCHRYSIS LUTEA (PLANKTON EXTRACT)

Rich in pigments (xanthophylls) responsible for the colour of the algae due to the selective absorption of visible electromagnetic radiation. Fucoxanthin has an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-ageing and skin protective effect.

CODIUM TOMENTOSUM

Alga rich in vitamin A (which fights free radicals in the skin and beyond, also stimulates the immune system) with a moisturising action, stimulates the production of melanin and has a protective function against UVB rays.

ECKLONIA CAVA

Seaweed rich in polyphenols with protective activity against UVB rays, regulating skin pores, moisturising, antioxidant, anti-aging, anti-inflammatory.

GELIDIUM CARTILAGINEUM

Seaweed containing polysaccharides, amino acids, trace elements. It works by stimulating the drainage of liquids and increasing the hydration and elasticity of the skin.

HIZIKIA FUSIFORME

Seaweed containing fucoidans, carotenoids, with UVB protective action, skin pores regulation, moisturising, antioxidant, anti-ageing.

EXTRACT OF SALT FROM THE MEDITERRANEAN SEA

Emollient ingredient thanks to its action as a promoter of the skin barrier functions and moisturising the stratum corneum.

ISHI’S SOLUTION BOOSTER TAN

SESAMUM INDICUM SEED OIL, TYROSINE, CALOPHYLLUM INOPHYLLUM SEED OIL, GLYCERYL STEARATE (TAN OLÉOBOOSTER®)

It is an oil-based extract obtained through a patented green process; increases the production of melanin and helps accelerate tanning without prolonged exposure to the sun. TAN Oléobooster ® is a stabilised form of tyrosine of 100% natural and vegetable origin. The oily part also guarantees an emollient action.

HYDROLYZED CITRUS AURANTIUM DULCIS FRUIT EXTRACT (BIOTANNING®)

Active ingredient rich in citroflavonoids of sweet orange (hesperidin), BIOTANNING ® accelerates skin pigmentation by stimulating the activity of tyrosinase and the synthesis of melanin, and ensures the photoprotection of skin cells.

BIFURCARIA BIFURCATA EXTRACT, ACETYL-TYROSINE (BRONZALG®)

It combines an aqueous extract of the brown alga Bifurcaria bifurcata with acetyl-tyrosine which favours the penetration of the algae extract into the skin. Guarantees effective skin protection against free radicals and UVA and UVB radiation which help maintain a harmonious tan and improve the skin’s natural UV protection.

ZEA MAYS GERM OIL, DAUCUS CAROTA SATIVA ROOT EXTRACT

Carrot oil, rich in vitamin A and beta-carotene, moisturising and soothing, prepares the skin for sun exposure.

SUNTHERAPY

HOW IT WORKS

BUT WHAT IS THE BASIC THEORY?

All people are exposed daily to a certain dose of ultraviolet (UV) radiation, largely deriving from the sun, but also from artificial sources in industry, commerce or in their free time.

UV radiation covers that portion of the electromagnetic spectrum with one wavelength between 100 and 400 nanometers (nm) and are divided into three main categories :

• UVA (315-400 nm)

• UVB (280-315 nm)

• UVC (100-280 nm)

14
ISHI SUNTHERAPY solutions are approved and tested...

UVB UVA

In general, the penetration capacity and therefore the “dangerousness” for humans of UV rays increases as the wavelength decreases and, consequently, as the frequency increases. The UV radiation that filters through the atmosphere reaching the earth is about 9%, this is the maximum value measured at the equator at noon in the summer. Most of the UV rays that reach the earth’s surface are UVA and, to a small extent, UVB, while UVCs are totally absorbed by the atmosphere.

SUNTHERAPY

THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR YOU

What should we consider before choosing the most suitable sun product for us?

• PHOTOTYPE

• TYPE OF SKIN to be treated

• AGE of the person

• PHYSIOLOGICAL conditions and PATHOLOGICAL situations

• Intake of PHOTOSENSIZING SUBSTANCES

• LATITUDE and ALTITUDE

And how do we see the influence of UV radiation on our skin?

Through the tan!

Tanning is caused by all UV radiations, even if UVBs are endowed with greater pigmentogenic activity and consequently photoprotective.

The immediate pigmentation is transient, regressing after 2-3 hours if one is no longer exposed to the sun. It is caused by visible radiation and UVA , leading to an increase in mature melanosomes.

Delayed pigmentation is the true tan, appearing 3-5 days after photo-exposure and reaching its maximum after 2-3 weeks. It is caused by UVB, following the production of new melanin (consequent is the growth of functioning melanocytes and the produced melanosomes which are transferred to the keratinocytes).

16

L’ SPF indicates a cream’s ability to stop the erythema .

We must remember that the erythema time, in addition to being strictly dependent on one’s phototype, varies according to the climate, the time of exposure and the location , so many variables must be taken into account when choosing the protection factor. Regardless of the phototype, in case of sun exposure in the tropics or in the high mountains it is advisable to use a higher protection factor.

So the SPF only calculates UVB protection? Yes exactly! ...and UVA?

Thanks to UVAPF (the sun protection factor against UVA) we know that the guaranteed UVA protection is equal to or greater than 1/3 of the protection provided against UVB rays.
