WHAT IS THE COLOUR OF THE SKY?

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

This book would not have been possible without the guidance of Mr Sanjeev CM, he was very helpful throughout the long process. Most importantly would like to thank all the photographers who contributed and willingly accepted to be a part of this self initiated project. And last but not the least I would like to thank my parents and friends who adviced me for better and helped me in completing this project.

INTRODUCTION

The objective of this self initiated project is to put forward an everyday observation; which is the chaning colours of the sky, everyday, every hour and every minute. To communicate the observation in terms of colours, further finding out the values of the dominating colours. Taking the observation forward to create an own version of the sky. Which can be used for creating printed materials, like - business cards, price tags, gift cards etc.

02

If somebody asked you to tell them what colour the sky is, you’d probably say blue. That is what most people generally do. But is the sky really blue? If the sky was blue, it should stay blue all the time, but the sky turns different colours at sunrise and sunset. So my question is:

WHAT IS THE COLOUR OF THE SKY YOU SEE?

The sunrise was the colour of bad blood. It leaked out of the east and stained the dark sky red, marked the scraps of the cloud with stolen gold. With a bound, the sun of a molten fiery red cam above the horizon, and immediately came glad murmurs forth from the earth; the low whispering wind left its hiding-place.

A warm sensation splashing everywhere from the fading rays of the sun. Sun painting the sky with pinks and peaches. Cool to warm, how that one little cloud floats like a pink feather from a flamingo. Making us feel small with our petty ambitions and strivings in the presence of the great elemental forces of Nature.

As the sun, sunk lower and lower in the sky until it touched down the end brilliant flow of amber and tangerine, leaving the colours to get absorbed in the sky, painting the it in magnificent hues of fiery red and crimson. The colors faded from maroon to neon pink and majestic purple.

The fiery, golden orb rose up from the horizon spreading its magnificent rays of light everywhere. The darkness of the night lost once again and parted away like a defeated king giving up his throne. Nature’s most impressive lightshow it is indeed.

Even the sun in dawn chorus sings, a celestial melody to the earth below. Like a cloudy sky in essence clear and pure, but overcast by clouds of delusions. Just as the thickest clouds can disperse, so, even the heaviest delusions can be removed and made into the clearest sky. Clouds on clouds is volumes driven, curtain round the vault of heaven.

The light slowly sinking beneath the horizon, and threads of light lingering in the sky, mingling with the rolling clouds, dyeing the heavens first yellow, then orange, then blue, until all that will be left of the sunset will be a chalky mauve, and then that will melt away turning the sky into navy blue.

Seems like soon the colours of sky will be hidden within the black despair of night, retelling the cycle of suffering that tomorrow is going bring. But still the colours of the night sky never fails to delight. The stillness, the breeze has secrets to tell. The aura sending cool calming and mind soothing vibes, making us forget the stress.

Only a few bright streaks remained to signal heaven’s passing. The warmly lit by the sun trying to prise the last of it’s amber limbs over the water. A haze casted over the water, reflecting off every wave. Half of a glowing, radiant light loomed on the water’s horizon. The sun pushes itself over the cloud-bank.

Each colour showing you the good tomorrow could bring. Scarlet, then amethyst, emblazoned the enormous sky, then it darkened to obsidian. As night would deepen the beautiful waves will become dark and the sky will turn dark, making way for the stars to shine at their full.

Colours change; in the morning light, red shines out bright and clear and the blues merge into their surroundings, melting into the greens; but by evening the reds loose their piquancy, embracing a quieter tone and shifting toward the blues in the rainbow. The sun plays peek a boo.

Each day is born with a sunrise, and ends in a sunset, the same way we open our eyes to see the light, and close them to hear the dark.We have no control over how your story begins or ends. But by now, we know that all things have an ending. Every spark returns to darkness. Every sound returns to silence.

Absorbing everyone’s sorrow the night sky is so dark, that it seems like the end. Nothing will be better again, but even in that darkness the sky gives us hope, by letting all the stars shine bright. The colour of the sky is not just blue, but so many more colours, The beauty lies in the eyes of the observer, even though it doesn’t become less beautiful because you don’t see it.
