In September, the Ladies Ashram said goodbye to Gopicandra devi dasi who returned back to her home in Hungary. She was part of the ladies ashram mentee group which is overseen by Bhava Bhakti devi dasi.

During September and October’s mentorship meetings the group read from specific sections of the Srimad-Bhagavatam together and discussed their realisations. Bhava Bhakti devi dasi organised a Krishna conscious Pictionary, which was won by Rebeca and a fun online quiz, based on the week’s reading, to test how attentive the ladies had been!

INITIATIONS

In October, Jhulan Lila devi dasi give her very first Srimad-Bhagavatam morning class. It was very inspiring to see her do this and the group were all very proud of her.

Bhaktin Hanel received first initiation by BB Govinda Swami on 30th November 2020 via Zoom. Her new name is Maharani Radhika devi dasi. She is in Bhava Bhakti devi dasi’s mentee group.

Bhaktin Sandhya has been approved for first initiation by Sivarama Swami. She is in Chandravali devi dasi’s mentee group.

Jai Nitai dasa and Bhava Bhakti devi dasi’s grihasta mentee group took part in the ‘Be a Sage, Page By Page’ reading challenge and read the whole of the ‘Nectar of Devotion’ in three months by reading four pages a day. Mentees who took part were Krishna Kanta devi dasi, Nimai Candra dasa, Prana Sakhi devi dasi, and Ashika, along with Jai Nitai dasa and Bhava Bhakti devi dasi too.

Bhava Bhakti devi dasi’s ladies mentee group also undertook another reading challenge for one month to read ‘Easy Journey to Other Planets’. They did this by reading four pages of the book daily and sharing their realisations on a separate WhatsApp group. The mentees who took part were: Devaki devi dasi, Amanda, Ashmita, Sophie, Varsha, and Vrishnee.

“The goal is not to become mechanical in the reading or treat it like a race and so daily the devotees have to share what stood out in their reading or a realisation they had from the reading. In this way the hope is that devotees will ignite a lifelong interest in being disciplined towards regular reading of Srila Prabhupada’s amazing books.” Bhava Bhakti devi dasi, Mentor

In December, members of Jai Nitai dasa and Bhava Bhakti devi dasi’s grihasta mentee group read four pages daily from the Science of Self Realisation and shared their realisations. The devotees who took part were Krishna Kanta devi dasi, Nimai Candra dasa, Prana Sakhi devi dasi, Vrinda Sundari devi dasi, Ashika, and Nimish. The group have now moved onto Teachings of Lord Caitanya.
