AADAAB E GASHT / JOLAH My dear respected brothers and elders it is the blessing of Allah ‫ ﷻ‬who gave us the tawfeeq to pray Asr salah with Jamaah and then on top through His fazl He has allowed us to gather together to do some fikr of the Deen. This amal that we have gathered for is called Gasht in Urdu and Jolah in Arabic which is to meet our Muslims brothers with the worry and concern of deen. Gasht or Jolah is like the backbone in the work of dawah. If this Amal is done correctly it will be accepted then Dawah is accepted in the court of Allah ‫ﷻ‬, when dawah is accepted then Dua is accepted, when Dua is accepted then Hidayat will descend. If Gasht is not accepted then Dawah is not accepted, if dawah is not accepted then Dua will not be accepted, if Dua is not accepted then Hidayat will not descend from the heavens. That is why we need to keep the purpose in front of us while doing this amal. Purpose Allah ‫ ﷻ‬has kept the solution of our problems and the problems of the whole humanity “By fulfilling our duties according to the ways of Hazrat Muhammad ‫“ ﷺ‬. To bring this in our lives an effort is required, and to persuade all the Muslims in the locality to join hands in this High effort we need to gather them in the Masjid and establish their connection with the masjid. So, the purpose of this effort is that every Muslim in the locality change their Belief by calling towards the Kalimah while doing the effort of the Kalimah. Fazail This effort is the Sunnah of all the prophets of Allah ‫ﷻ‬. It is the effort of the Sahabah ‫رض هللا عنهم‬ ‫ ي‬and Awliya of Allah. 1. Whoever spends his morning or evening in the path of Allah ‫ﷻ‬, his reward will be much better than the world, and whatever is in it. (Bukhari) 2. A Few moment's concern for Deen is equivalent to prayer in front of Hajr-e-Aswad of Kabah on Lailatul Qadr. (Ibne Hibban) Hajr-e-Aswad (reward 100,000 times), Lailatul Qadr (reward better than 1000 months) 3. When the dust of the path of Allah ‫ ﷻ‬enters the body of a Muslim, Allah ‫ ﷻ‬prohibits Hell-fire on him. (Ahmad, Tabarani) 4. The fire of hell will not reach anyone whose feet become dusty whilst he is on the path of Allah ‫ﷻ‬. (Ahmad) 5. He who suffers a headache in the path of Allah ‫ﷻ‬, and hopes for a reward, all his past sins are forgiven. (Tabarani) 6. Whoever guides others to do good, his reward is like the one who does it. (Abu Dawud) Principles & Ettiquettes There are some principles and etiquettes for every work that we must follow for it to be effective and the work of Dawah, the work of Ambya ‫ عليه السالم‬is most deserving of it -

First and foremost is to obey the Ameer Ameer will make jamaats to go out which may contain 3 to 10 brothers Ameer will appoint a person to engage in dhikr and dua in the masjid for the success of the jamaats going out, this person is considered the powerhouse for the jamaats Ameer will also appoint a person to give a middle-talk in the masjid so that the brothers left in the masjid and anybody who the jamaat brothers bring to the masjid are engaged in dhikr Ameer shall also appoint a person to meet and greet people coming in the masjid while the middle-talk is going on. Each Jamaat will have an Ameer, Rahbar (Guide) and Mutakallim (Spokesperson) Rahbar will guide the Jamaat to take them through the locality and meet local brothers, he will inform Mutakallim of the brother’s name and occupation. Mutakallim will speak to the people and Ameer keeps the Jamaat together The Jamaat will gather outside the mosque and make Dua. Once the Dua has taken place, the Jamaat then follow the Rahbar

We walk on the right side of the path if possible We walk in pairs where the Rahbar walks in front and Ameer behind the Jamaat We engage ourselves in Dhikr of Allah ‫ ﷻ‬and read Third Kalimah While doing Gasht we try to bring into our hearts that the solution to all our problems in directly linked to Allah ‫ﷻ‬. Things scattered in the markets are not the solution to any of our problems, If our hearts are drawn towards worldly things, then how the hearts of those whom we are going to meet will turn away from Dunya towards Allah ‫ﷻ‬ Try not to look at the things so that the thoughts are not drawn towards them, If we still end up thinking about them then think of them as soil and dust, that everything has been made of soil and will return to soil and at the same time ponder over death, entering the grave and life of barzakh We should protect our gaze at all times On reaching a Muslim brother’s house we should stand on the side of the door looking away from the door and do not look inside the house when the door is answered The Rahbar should then knock on the door and wait for a response. If there is no response, the Rahbar should knock again but not more than three times. If after three knocks there is no answer, then the Jamaat should move forward and walk to the next house. If a woman (non-mahram) answers the door, the Rahbar, while keeping his gaze lowered should ask to speak to the menfolk of the house. If there are no men in the house, the Rahbar should leave a message stating that there will be a Bayan about Iman and Yaqeen at the mosque after next salah and the men are requested to attend the gathering and pray salah with jamaat if possible However, if a man answers the door, the Rahbar should introduce himself, the Mutakallim and the rest of the Jamaat. The Mutakallim being the spokesman should then address the individual. His talk should be centred around our success of both worlds in obeying Allah ‫ ﷻ‬and following sunnah of Rasulullah ‫ﷺ‬, our short stay in this world, the everlasting life in the hereafter and the preparations for it. His speech should not be so long that it sounds like a bayan and not so short that it turns into an elaan The whole jamaat should also listen to the Mutakallim wholeheartedly and make dua in their hearts for the brother and the locality Never look down upon any brother even if apparently he seems to be engaged in a sin Mutkallim should invite the brother to come to the masjid or join the amal of Gasht, if the person cannot, then thank him for his time and request him to pray next Salah with jamaat and attend the bayan after it If the brother is ready to come to the masjid then send a brother to accompany him to masjid Once Gasht has finished, the Jamaat should then start walking back towards the masjid reciting Istighfar and asking forgiveness for any sins committed during Gasht If they reach masjid earlier and there is still some time left in the salah then they should also sit in the middletalk gathering
