Siquijor cops told to remain loyal amidst negative news Siquijor Police Provincial Office (SPPO) Director Erson U. Digal during the first Donning of Ranks and Oath Taking Ceremony of 51 newlypromoted Police Non-Commission Officers (PNCOs). Digal is the first police director in the province that gives honor and recognition to his men through the Donning and series of awarding ceremonies.
SIQUIJOR (PIA) -- Siquijor Police Provincial Office Director Erson U. Digal reminded all uniformed and non-uniformed police in the province to remain loyal in their service amidst news involving police officers engaged in illegal activities. This he said during the first Donning of Ranks and Oath Taking Ceremony of some 51 newly-promoted Police Non-Commissiones Officers (PNCOs) in the province.

BFP-Siquijor lauds public support in ensuring fire safety SIQUIJOR, March 22 (PIA) – The Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) here lauded the public support in ensuring fire safety in the province. Senior Fire and Information Office Zylbeth Cortes, during the information sharing of the Siquijor Association of Information Disseminators (SAID), said that the public’s cooperation is manifested on the reduced fire incidence in the whole province. Cortes said most of the fire cases they responded to are grass fires that are common during the summer months.
She said there are only 52 BFP personnel provincewide: nine in Larena, Lazi and San Juan, 14 in Siquijor and Siquijor sub-station located at the Capitol, seven at the newly-opened Maria fire station, and four at Enrique Villanueva fire station. Although BFP has few personnel, she assured that it has augmented its human resource through barangay fire brigades and fire volunteers. They trained and taught volunteers at

SSC recognized as sole college in Siquijor accredited for SEI scholarship
SIQUIJOR (PIA) -- The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) here recognized the Siquijor State College (SSC) as the only tertiary institution in the province accredited to accept students under its (DOSTSEI) undergraduate scholarship program. This was revealed during the second monthly info sharing and gathering of the Siquijor Association of Information Disseminations (SAID) at the Siquijor State College (SSC) Cafeteria, Larena, Siquijor. DOST Information Officer Engr. Reinhold Jek Abing encouraged SSC to add courses leading to the science and technology field. Among these courses are Bachelor of Science (BS) in Math, BS in Physics, and BS in Chemistry. S S C I n f o r m a t i o n O ff i c e r C y d Sarmiento, in response, said SSC has already conducted several public hearings and is now preparing to offer more courses in 2019. Sarmiento said the college is now preparing for the major development to include ongoing rehabilitation, construction, and improvement of its various facilities and different infrastructure. BFP is doing its best to procure modern fire equipment and fire trucks and construction of modern fire stations as well, she added. In addition, BFP-Siquijor has continued its conduct of earthquake and fire drills for households, schools, and establishments provincewide. Cortes also revealed that BFPSiquijor personnel have undergone special trainings on Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) and Mountain Search and Rescue
(MOSAR). Six of them are highly specialized in these trainings, she said. At present, the province has one modern fire truck in Larena Fire Station and constructed modern fire station in San Juan situated along the Philippine National Police (PNP) building. Cortes said all the initiatives are in line with BFP’s mission and commitment to prevent and suppress destructive fires, investigate its causes, enforce fire codes, and other related laws on natural and man-made disasters and other emergencies.
