From the President’s Desk… way we want, and I know at times it can be frustrating. But I want you to know how much I’ve appreciated your patience and understanding as we continued to work toward the betterment of our community. And you can be certain the board will continue to work hard in your best interests. Finally, I challenge each of you to get involved with our committees. It’s easy to see the things that need to be done. But the best way to impact the quality of life here in Del Tura is to work with us. H. Jackson Brown Jr. once said “Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more”. Del Tura is a wonderful place. Despite the challenges, I hope we never lose sight of how fortunate we are to live here. Accordingly, I will close this final written comment as I always do by wishing you well and hoping you all have another wonderful day in paradise.
With Gratitude, Dave Adams, HOA President

This will be the last message I will write as your President. As I thought about what I would say to you all, I couldn’t help but think about all the incredible things that happened these past twenty four months. As President, the first big challenge arrived in the form of an epic flood followed several weeks later by a merciless hurricane that thankfully moved just enough to the side, to spare us the worst of her wrath. I often think back to the joy I felt when my neighbor called to tell us our home had been spared. I watched as our Hometown staff cleared debris and the more than 1,300 trees that came down. I marveled at how lucky we were that our management had been pro active prior to the storm to make sure they had the pieces in place to help us return to normal. And it was truly heartwarming to watch neighbors helping neighbors. I am particularly proud of the dedication of our various HOA committees. The work of our Entertainment Committee as well as our
many special events has been nothing short of spectacular. Tuesday Coffee Socials come off without a hitch. And the folks who run events that benefit various charities are truly the unsung heroes of our community. I couldn’t be prouder to work with such a dedicated group of residents. There are so many wonderful things that happen here, it would take a small novel to note them all and thank everyone. I would be remiss if I didn’t thank the members of your HOA Board for their hard work and dedication. In a community of 1300+ homes, there is a lot happening continually, and they always had my back and they work hard to make Del Tura a special place. When I took office I said that my favorite phrase was “Be part of the solution, not part of the problem”. My fellow board members are indeed problem solvers. They continue to look for ways to make things better for all of us and I am ever so grateful. Finally, I want to thank you folks….the residents of our community….for your support. I know things don’t always go the

Thanksgiving And Christmas Baskets By Charlene/Ron Ruotolo, Betty Scheetz & Ruth Anten This year (2018) the Basket Charity Program continued to exceed our expectations. Del Tura continues to grow and it seems that all the new residents are every bit as giving as the existing ones. The Del Tura Basket Program is now 38 Years Old and still going strong, thanks to the donations (food, money & gifts) by the RESIDENTS OF DEL TURA. In addition to all the donations there is also an overwhelming volunteer effort that makes programs like this possible.
Special thanks also to the Craft Fair Bake Sale for their generous financial contribution. We provided food and gifts to 70 less fortunate families for the 7th year in a row, and as you can see from the financials (shown below) the Basket Program is positioned to help 70 families again next year. We will also be donating money to a needy charity in the early portion of 2018. For those of you that do not know what the Basket Program is all about, we provide complete Thanksgiving and Christmas
Again our heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated to the holiday collection and to all the volunteers that collected, wrapped and packed the baskets. We would like to mention all of you by name but the list is just TOO long.

Good Timers’ Singles Club News With all that Del Tura has to offer in the entertainment arena we at the Good Timers’ have to rearrange some of “our” entertainment just to fit it in! We didn’t make it to Manatee State Park last month so we’ll need to fit that in the future. We did have 2 full tables of Good Timers’ at the Shell Factory on Saturday night, January 12th. First we enjoyed a delicious meal at Fishbones Restaurant then it was on to the Dolphin Room to do a little dancing and enjoy the smooth music of the Del Prado’s. Our first monthly meeting was held at 4:30 on Tuesday, January 8th and it went well. We learned a little more on what we’d like to
do as a group. We even gained a new member. We held our January birthday celebration at The Farmers Market Restaurant on the 18th. Everyone enjoyed a delicious meal and great conversation. Now we are looking towards the upcoming months to go to a few plays. First on the agenda will be in March to see “Ripcord” playing at the Cape Coral Cultural Park Theater then we’ll be off to the Broadway Palm Dinner Theater to enjoy lunch and see the play “Second Chance” in April. We began our “game
The time to be happy is NOW; the place to be happy is HERE!
day” last month! It was held on Wednesdays from 1 to 4 in the Art Room....many games to choose from....and everyone’s mind was activated to learn something new. For the month of February it will be held on Sunday’s from 1:00 to 4:00 in Card Room 1. You don’t need to be single to enjoy playing games with us so please feel free to join in...the more, the merrier! We are aiming at a different day each month to allow everyone to fit it into their schedules. Once again all single Del Turian’s are encouraged to join us at one of our monthly meetings. Our next meeting is on February 5th at 4:00 in the Jacaranda room. Hope to see you there. For more info contact President Liz Poniatowski at ciociliz@ gmail.com or 239-800-2935.
By Dianne J. Roderick Come and sit with me and lend me an ear...I don’t know if I want to laugh, or shed a tear. You see my best friend left me and has broken my heart and I really, honestly don’t know where to start. If you just listen and hold my hand, it would really convince me that somehow someone is trying to understand. I promise I won’t keep you very long, just to know that you care will help me to be strong. You see my heart has been broken and I need an ear….. Come and sit by me and give me a hug…you see I’m lonely and in need of some warmth. I realize that you are not without problems and it may possibly help if we spoke to each other instead of ourselves. What’s that you’re saying? You certainly will! Thank you my friend, you’re one in a mill….
You see my heart has been broken and I need a hug….. Come sit beside me and look in my eyes…can you see the sadness where sunshine should lie? I tell you dear friend darkness wasn’t always there. In fact, you could only see brightness-never despair! Please share the light
I see in your eyes it’s giving me hope much more than you realize. You see my heart is broken and I need the sign of hope from your eyes…

Heart to Heart Come sit beside me and listen to my story… it won’t take long and will not bore you. It may tug at your heartstrings, make you shed a tear… or even cause a slight smile to appear. The importance of it all will eventually be clear… to you and to me, it’s the reason that we’re here! You see my heart is broken and I need you to listen… Come and sit beside me and let me say thank you, dear friend. These hearts to hearts will definitely be without end. You have given me the precious gift of time, a listening ear, and warm hugs. My heart feels lighter and my eyes are brighter. You see my heart was broken and you listened… May you all be blessed with a special someone that shares the true meaning of friendship. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Fruit Tree Project – OCT. 2017 – SEPT. 2018 This year we picked avocados, lemons, mangos, oranges, star fruit and tangerines from trees at the homes of Del Tura residents. We picked at six homes two to four times. From two of the mango trees, we picked 1,222 pounds of fruit. Our grand total this year was 3,947 pounds of fruit, which
was delivered to the Community Cooperative. This fruit assisted over 20,000 plus Lee County neighbors in need during the year. The fruit we donate is distributed to the people at the Community Café/soup kitchen or added to the meals they are served at the café. We are proud to have been part of this great effort. Thank You Del Tura residents for donating your fruit to this wonderful cause. There were twelve volunteers that picked fruit this year. That time
includes getting boxes and making them up, sending out emails or calls to volunteers, picking the fruit, weighing it up and of course delivering it to the soap kitchen. Our thanks to these volunteers: Rick Rudzik, Barry Plisch, Sherry Plisch, David Lane, Betty Scheetz, Denise Rose, Maria Soper, Diana Camp, Joe Pollock, Lois McDonnell, Gail Hodge and Larry Hodge. These volunteers put in roughly 100 volunteer hours.

At the Hydrant DEL TURA’S DOG OF THE MONTH COMMANDER
My name is COMMANDER. I was born on February 1, 2010 in Thunder Bay, in North Western Ontario, Canada where there is a ton of snow and the temperature can drop to -30 or -40 celsius (-22 to-40 Farenheit). At the Dog Park, I am also known as CORPORAL; CAPTAIN; CHAMPION and GENERAL. Because of my size and my swagger, some Humans have compared me to a BEAR! I am also known at the dog park as “The Collector”. That is because my job at the dog park is to collect as many toys as I can and put them in a pile and then I have the tough job of guarding them so they don’t get chewed apart by some of my puppy friends. That is a tough job and I am usually exhausted by the time my Mom takes me home. I do like to play a game with my BHF (Best Human Friend), John. He sometimes helps me collect the toys and then, right after that, he tries to grab one of the balls right out from underneath me. Then, if I have a ball in my mouth, he tries to confuse me by tapping my nose with another ball to get me to drop the one in my mouth. But, ha, ha, sometimes I do drop the ball in my mouth on purpose. Then I challenge him to dare try and pick it up. He usually makes a lunge for it but this is the one time I move faster than the speed of sound and I beat him to it. I am a Golden Retriever and I do have a very gentle mouth EXCEPT when I’m playing this game. I have a
reputation in the park and everyone there knows not to challenge me if they value their fingers. I don’t mean to hurt anyone but sometimes they foolishly put their fingers where they shouldn’t. We have some amazing puppies, like Zen, Rico, Mayzie and Buddy that can run like the wind and leapt into the air to catch balls that the Humans throw. I do not understand why they exert themselves so much when all they have to do, like I do, is stay out in the field, stay alert and eventually the ball will come within a foot
of me and I get it. Sometimes, if they get the ball, I will stalk them until they drop it, then again, I use my lightening speed to lunge and snatch the ball from them. We all love going to the dog park, it is our Dog Family. All the Humans have realized that we Pups can all tell time. Every day at 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. we remind our Moms and/or Dads that it is time to go back to the park. I never make the 8:00 a.m. call as it is way too early for me! When I go back to my summer home in Canada, I sure do miss my puppy and Human friends at the Dog Park. I can hardly wait to come back here and have another fun winter with them all. My only wish is that I could bring some snow with me. We are all very fortunate to have this wonderful Dog Park here in Del Tura. If you are not part of our Park already, please convince your Mom/Dad to bring you for some fun and play. Love ya’ll COMMANDER

Our Christmas Luncheon was very festive. Kudos to the Ron and staff for the great food and preparation. And special thanks to the league’s social committee for organizing the function. They are a hard working group and it shows. During the General Meeting, Maureen Monroy, Rules Committee Chair, showed an excellent video about the 2019 new golfing rules. If you have a short memory span, like me, and belong to the USGA you can order a “Players Guide to the New Rules” for free. They charge for shipping
and handling only. The maximum you can order is 2 books. Also, the expert that produced the video has a “Golf Rules, Quick Reference Book” for sale from Amazon and other sellers. Cost is less than $18.00 (Amazon). Make sure you order the 2019 edition! A few other highlights from the General Meeting: The league will be canceled if the temperature feels like 45 degrees or below. Jan Hoffa is the new statistics, birdies and chip-ins, person. Diana Camp is the new sunshine person; please let her know if anyone is ill. Donations of $250.00 (each) were made to The Lifeline Family
Center and The Abuse, Counseling, and Treatment Inc (ACT). And, donations were collected in the name of Irma Young and given to the American Cancer Association in the amount of $361.00. Just a note on proper repair of divots according to the USGA. If there is soil on the divot and it’s not shredded; replace the divot and tap it down with your foot. Otherwise, fill the divot with sand or the golf course’s mix, tap it down and leave it slightly below the grass surface. As always, hit them long and straight!
18 Hole Women’s Association by Carol Marra What a wonderful January we had! While the rest of the country was cold and snowy we refused to participate, enjoying lovely weather to begin 2019. January 2nd and 3rd the Jack and Jill tournament took place with more than 80 participants in two flights. Day 1 winners in the Better Ball format were: Flight 1-Donna and Bruce Johnson. Flight 2-Greg and Donna Roberts. Day 2 was a Scramble and the winners were: Flight 1-Paula and Steve Lefreniere. Flight 2- Cindy and Jack Howard. Another highlight of this tournament was a hole-in-one (her first!) by Germaine Duffy on 8 South. A great time for everyone. Out next tournament was held at the end of January. The President’s Cup started on the
23rd. This is Match play so if you won, you continued but, if you lost you were done. It continued the 24th, 30th and 31st. In February we have two tournaments; Valentine’s on the 14th and our Member-Guest the 28th. The theme of this year’s Member-Guest is “Girls just want to have fun”! Co-chairs are Sandy Vassallo and Margie Blackwell. The format is best ball. Check for new information on the Bulletin Board and how you can help our co-chairs. During the next few weeks Ryan will be holding clinics Wednesdays and Fridays. Space is limited. Please sign up in the Pro Shop. Ryan will have a different topic for each clinic. Private lessons are also available. Anyone new to Del Tura: We are always looking for new
members. Our membershipchairperson is Kay Rolader Contact Kay at 239-292-4964 if you are interested in joining. Lots of new rules kicked in on January 1. Speed of play seems to be the theme with many of the changes. For example, if you hit an unattended flagstick on the green it is no longer a penalty. There are many others. Paul has sent out an e-mail listing the new rules. We will also be reviewing many of these changes as we play. New dazzling flags now adorn the greens. Front are orange and blue, Middle are pinkand white and Black, yellow and black. As usual. January through March is very busy: regular golf, tournaments and Pro Shop sponsored events. Make your choices and have fun!

SPORTS please use the equipment like it was intended for & please do not walk on the courts. When you are done, please erase the chalkboards & return the equipment back to where you found it. So far we have only found three pushers that we needed to repair so that is good to report. We are able to do that because Del-Tura management is good enough to buy the parts we need to repair the broken ones we find. Again, the courts & equipment are there for everyone to play & enjoy. There are even lights on the courts that can be used if you want to play when it gets dark. Shuffleboard is an easy game to learn & fun to play so enjoy your time on the courts.
Tennis at Del Tura 3 FREE TENNIS LESSON IN FEBRUARY The Del Tura Tennis Association hosts a number of activities throughout the winter season at our tennis courts situated by the North Pool. There is Open Tennis on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays for anyone wanting to play from 8:00 to 10:00 am on Courts 1 & 2. You don’t need to find a partner. Just show up during these times and you will automatically be included in the group. A new executive board has been elected at the Annual General Meeting. They are Rob Stephens, President, Woody Cook, Vice-President, Lu Ann Brownell, Secretary, Stan Loson, Treasurer, Linda Laird, director and Jacqueline St-Jean, League Chair Person. Three (3) FREE lessons for beginners or people who need to refresh their skills will be
held Tuesday, February 5, 12, 19 from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Our Fun Day and Pot Luck dinner at the end of December as well as our January 12 & 13 Friendship Tournament were well attended and lots of fun. Reserve February 23 at 3:30 pm for our Demo Day. Wrigley Tennis will be on hand with special guests. They will demonstrate how some of the very best players in Florida can play this amazing game and give a miniclinic for players to participate in. Happy New Year to all our Del-Tura residents. Janet & I both hope your Christmas & New Year’s holidays were good to all of you . Hard to believe that another year has passed in my life & we are now in 2019. We hope & pray that the New Year brings you all more happiness, more fun, more joy & always good or better health. Saying that, as I am writing this on January 6th, I will update you on the standings of both flights as of today’s date. In the “A” Flight the current leaders are Bob & Donna Crawford with an 18/3 record. They are followed by Ben Hargraves/Janet Blevons in 2nd place at 17/4 & in 3rd place are Chris
Brylski/Buster Jager at 16/5. The rest of the “A” Flight teams are following very close behind the top 3-teams & there is a lot of season left to be played. The “B” Flight leaders are led by Ray David/Cam Smith in 1st place at 11/10. They are followed by Mary Pimental/ Kathy Boesel in 2nd place at 10/11 & in 3rd place are Jean Wiley/ Cindy Grilli at 9/12. We play into March so lots of games left to be played. So far we have been blessed with good weather on our Fridays, no games that have been cancelled because of rain so we continue to hope that continues. Now that there are seasonal renters here as well as holiday guests that use the courts & equipment I would just like to mention again,

Hopefully as you read this in either late January or the first week in February, we have a lot more residents back here in beautiful DelTura who enjoy coming to play HOA-sponsored Thursday night Bingo. Hopefully those that have come back from being gone over the holidays & also the new renters that have come south to enjoy not only the warm weather of SW Florida but also the beauty & fun, spending some time living in our beautiful community.
If you are new, just a reminder that Janet & I have made all our games simpler & more fun to play, so that more people will come, because the more people we have, the larger the payouts are & I know we all like to win those larger pots when we are lucky enough to win. Doors open at 6:00 for sales & then close at 6:45 for sales so we can tabulate what we have to determine the payouts for the games. Rules state you have to be 18 years old to play. The minimum cost to play is only $6 for the packet of 9-games. Then
you can buy extra packets that sell for $3 for a half packet & also Specials that sell for $2 each. The specials are played separately from the rest of the games. There are 2-games on each special & those payouts are determined by how many are sold so they always pay out between $50 & a $100 a game. There are 2-specials with 2-games on each one so just on those there are 4-chances of winning some pretty big pots. There is also Share the Wealth & Hot-Ball that are sold & those chances are only a $1 each. And we even
give each player a free ticket for a chance to be either King or Queen for the night, which also is awarded with some cash to take back home. Also, because it was requested by some, we do have soda & water for sale while we play. So, come on down & have some fun. Bring your friends so we get some big crowds which make for larger payouts. We start play promptly at 7:00 & are usually done around 9:00 or 9:15. Come on down & have some fun & go home with more than you came with.

It can be bent ot flattened to get into narrow openings. • Measuring Cups: Before you pour sticky substance into a measuring cup, fill with hot water. Dump out the water but don’t dry the cup. add your ingredient (like peanut butter) and watch how easily it comes right out. • Foggy Windshield: Buy a chalk eraser and keep it in the glove compartment of your car. When the windows fog, rub with the eraser...works better than a cloth! • Reopening Envelope: If you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include something inside, just place the envelope in the freezer for an hour or two... it will unseal easily. • Goodbye Fruit Flies: Take a small glass and fill it with 1/2 with Apple cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dish washing liquid, mix well. Flies are drawn to the cup then gone.

THANK YOU FISH & DEL TURA I just wanted to write & say “thank-you” to FISH & also to Ruth Anton for the nice cards & also the delicious Pumpkin-bread that she personally baked & brought over & gave me after I had back surgery at Lee Memorial Hospital last week. Totally unexpected but also so
appreciated. It is so nice to know that Del Tura has people that really care & show their caring in this way. We here in this community are blessed to have this “FISH” organization & all the volunteers that make this function operate. Sincerely, Jack Blevons
