Red, White and Beautiful! LABOR DAY PARTY 2018
The Tara Woods Clubhouse was filled with smiling faces ready to meet old and new friends and enjoy celebrating Labor Day 2018. Labor Day is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers - something we all can relate to. It serves as a tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strengths, prosperity, and well-being of our country. We enjoyed a short video that helped put the holiday into perspective. An excellent meal followed, featuring shrimp, New England clam chowder, BJ’s Chicken, sides and a choice of cakes for dessert. After the meal the mood turned serious - sort of – as the women and men started a game of bean bag baseball. Tensions were high as the score changed hands a number of times before the men (this year) won! A great thank you to all the members of the New York/New Jersey Club whose planning and hard work made for an enjoyable afternoon. ~ Lou Dunning

MANAGER’S CORNER This time I would like to send out a few reminders on a few things that have been brought to my attention. The gate attendants must be called if you are having visitors who are not on your list or vendors coming in to work on your home. Even if you order a pizza, you have to call the gate to let them know. Please refrain from cursing at the attendants; they are here
for your safety. If you have someone who does your trimming, please explain to them they need to put the trimmings in front of your home. There is no dumping allowed in the back; we pay to have it removed from your yard. We only had the pile in the back for the storm. Please do not dump horticulture in the
back; we will be starting some work back there and need to keep it cleaned up. If you go in and out of the gate in the storage area, please lock up behind you. We had the dog park and storage gates separated so that only those who rent a space in the back could get in. Except during business hours and while you are there, the gates should be locked.
Just a reminder that the speed limit in the community is 20 miles per hour. Make sure you are stopping at the stop signs and that you watch for walkers, bicycles, and pets. Walkers, if you are walking at night, make sure to wear light colored clothing. If you pay your rent by check, please use your lot number as your account num-
ber. We do offer electronic fund transfers. If you use this you will get a $10.00 credit the first month of use. Darlene Bradley Community Manager “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.” Charles R. Swindell
FMO NEWS TARA WOODS HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION NEWS I hope everyone had a safe, happy and healthy summer. Welcome home to our snowbirds. The FMO meeting season starts up on the second Friday in November. More information will be in the November Columns and the back bulletin board. If you are not an FMO member, please pick up an application, fill it out, and mail it in the envelope pro-
vided. If you are a registered Florida voter, I would strongly suggest you call 239-LEE-VOTE to obtain a mail-in ballot. Last August I had the “pleasure” of being a pole worker. Depending on party affiliation there were approximately four to eight different choices that had to be made. It was amazing how many voters brought cheat
sheets into the polling booth. In other instances, it was obvious by the time voters were in the voting booth that they had no idea who was running. Why am I telling you all this? On the November ballot, besides the candidates running for office, there are approximately 12 amendments that will be on the ballot. Your FMO SUPPORTS
AMENDMENT 2 AND ENCOURAGES YOU TO VOTE YES. Amendment 2 has to do with keeping the cap on commercial real estate at 10%. As a home owner in Tara Woods your lot rent includes a real estate tax. Amendment 2 must pass with 60% of the voters to pass. If 60% of the voters vote YES,
our real estate taxes will stay fairly constant. If it doesn’t pass, I hope you have deep pockets. The exact wording of Amendment 2 can be found on the back bulletin board under FMO. Questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. Stuart Berman

The Board met on August 8, 2018 and selected Sue Cook to fill the vacancy created with the resignation of Lynn Makia. We welcome Sue to the Board and look forward to working with her. Thank you to Lynn Makia for her service on the Board. We have rescheduled the “official” roll-out of our new Tara Woods Homeowners Association website to our Homeowners Association meeting on Monday, November 12th, 2018 at 7:00 PM. You don’t want to miss this. In the meantime, if you have a computer and are inside enjoying the air conditioning, log in at www. twhoa.net, register, and check it out. With your help, the Board’s goal is to continue to improve communication and provide useful, accurate, timely information. If you are a current Tara Woods Homeowners Association member we thank you and look forward to your renewal. If you are not yet a member, we encourage you and welcome you to join us. By renewing or by joining you are actively demonstrating your
support for your Homeowners Association and for our special lifestyle here in Tara Woods. Why join the Tara Woods Homeowners Association? Because you are a Tara Woods Homeowner, it just makes sense. How much does it cost? It is $15.00 per year per household or about $.04 per day. Unlike some things that increase yearly, the volunteer Board works very hard to keep the price down and affordable for all residents. TWHA is a Florida chartered non-profit Corporation. We represent you, the homeowners, in rent negotiations, possible park purchase, along with advocacy for homeowners on items to improve conditions and enhancements to our community. The Board also synchronizes with our Activities Coordinator a myriad of activities through an army of dedicated volunteers to make our lives in Tara Woods happy and even more enjoyable. HEADS UP – If you are a Florida resident, it is in your best interest to vote YES on Amendment 2 that will appear on the
November ballot. A YES vote retains the 10% cap on commercial real estate property. We live on commercial real estate. More information is available at our Saturday Morning Coffee meetings. Questions can be directed to me or our FMO (Federation of Manufactured Home Owners) Community Representative Stuart Berman, at 239-220-2369. DID YOU KNOW THAT – we have not one but two kilns here in Tara Woods used in making ceramics. Bonnie Abend 239217-0707 and Arlene Greene 850-207-1084 are in the ceramic/ craft building located at the tennis courts on Mondays at 12:00 noon. You can use your creative side to make a one-of-a-kind piece or perhaps a “Christmas Gift”. Interested? Stop in or give them a call. A strong, vibrant, growing membership ensures a strong vibrant Community reflecting “the Magic of Tara Woods”. Lou Dunning,Vice President loudunning2@gmail.com 230-240-5847
THE TARA WOODS CLUBHOUSE CANCER CHRISTMAS TREE It’s that time of year again and we will be selling cancer ornaments for our cancer Christmas tree. The price is the same as previous years, $3.00 per ornament. This is the time you may want to remember someone who is suffering, a survivor, or someone in your life who has passed from this disease. All donations collected will benefit the Susan G. Komen breast cancer fund. Ornaments will go on sale at Bingo and at Saturday morning coffee beginning in November. Questions: Judy Brda, 731-1797, or Jane Crawford, 731-0103.

(WHO WE ARE - We put on a show in March!) So Ladies and Gentlemen…..we have quite a few newer faces living in our little slice of Paradise and you might not know what and who we are. Since April of 1992, 26 years ago, residents of Tara Woods have been putting on a stage production. During these past 26 years the shows were sometimes two times a year and in different months of the year. There were even plays that were written by our residents. Throughout these years our audiences have applauded our actors. We have all become a family, with the people on stage and the audience. This is the purpose of live theater. Theater is a living thing and it can only exist when there are passionate people on both sides, in the audience and on stage. I have been honored these past few years to be part of this tradition. I encourage each and every one of you reading this article to consider the fact that we need you. We need you to be part of The Entertainers. Whether it is as a member of the audience or someone on stage, back stage, props, assisting as sound, light, ushers, make-up or whatever, it takes a village to create a production. You will be seeing the current members of our production beginning to rehearse in October on Mondays and Thursdays at 8:15 AM in the Clubhouse. If you are interested or curious, stop in, we love to show you what we do to entertain our community. Please contact me if interested, Pat 239-599-4490. •A reminder to the cast of “RED VELVET CAKE WAR” Janet has already contacted you about the rehearsal. One of the safest places to be in the world is the stage. Frank Langella Pat Dunning Stage Manager pdunning46@gmail.com Entertainers P.S. REMINDER Entertainers meeting on Saturday, October 20th, in the Clubhouse after Saturday Morning Coffee. Interested in finding out more about us, stop in; we don’t bite.....much!

“I’m singing in the rain.” “I’m singing in the rain.” The New Image Chorus is not singing in
the rain. They are practicing the songs they will perform in their annual show for Tara Woods in early April. Whether you can sing (or not), you are cordially invited to join our chorus. There are no tryouts. If you are looking to spend a pleasant afternoon with your neighbors and friends (and possibly make some new friends), you are always welcome to join us.
Who knows, you may get to pick one of the songs that the chorus will sing. In fact, you probably know most of the songs that the chorus will be singing in their show. So grab your bottle of water and head on down to the Clubhouse on Mondays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. Y’all come now, hear? Stuart Berman, Past President

24 Hour Emergency Service
Lee County Arts Center, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization and your contribution is tax – deductible to the extent allowed by law. We are sponsoring the Art Walk for North Fort Myers. This event will take place on Saturday, October 13th from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. at Hancock Bridge Plaza, 13500 N Cleveland Avenue, North Fort Myers. In July we had our inaugural art walk in North Fort Myers and it was a success. There is a sidewalk under the
building overhang at this location so there is no reason for a tent unless you want to have a tent in the parking area. At the last event we had four people who had their tent in the parking area but the other twenty-nine vendors were on the sidewalk under the building overhang. We are bringing awareness to North Fort Myers and businesses located on this side of the River. New energy surrounds North Fort Myers, the community is matur-
ing, drawing upbeat and innovative people, businesses to accommodate the population, as well as financial support from Lee County that will aid the community’s 21st century transformation. If you are not a member and would like to join or just volunteer to help with these TWO big events, please come to the meeting. Gentlemen, we will need some help on Friday morning at 8:30 AM to set up tables for the Fashion Show and again on Friday afternoon at 3:30 PM to set up for the Craft Fair and again Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM to put the Clubhouse back in order. Without volunteers these events are not possible. If you are new to Tara Woods, ask around, both these events are always fun and you don’t want to miss them. The Fashion Show on Friday November 2nd, is a FREE event. You need only to sign up to bring either a salad or a dessert to attend, favors for the ladies, raffles or prizes. A sign-up sheet will be in the Clubhouse on October 2nd
For the Fashion Show luncheon, we set up the buffet tables along both sides of the Clubhouse. This makes it easier and faster for everyone to serve themselves, so whatever you decide to bring - either a salad or a dessert - please use TWO serving dishes. Please be mindful of how many people are signing up for salads or desserts; we would like to have more salads than desserts. It is very important to note what kind of wine you prefer to drink, so that the correct wines can be purchased, or if you would like lemonade or iced tea. The Garden Club members will be bringing the cheese platters and the wine. This year, the clothing our beautiful models will be wearing is from Razzle Dazzle, a wonderful boutique at 1335 Cape Coral Parkway East. Makeup will be by our friendly Mary Kay representative, Cindy, 239-887-7727. The Craft Fair on Saturday, November 3rd, is open to the public, and thanks to Carol Shields, we have a full house of Talented Vendors selling

This year the: Bake Sale is hosted by the New England Club Luncheon is hosted by the Mid-Atlantic Club and The Basket of Cheer by the New York/New Jersey Club Free drawings for door prizes throughout the Fair Questions: Rachelle DellaRocca, 239-322-6386 Rachelle DellaRocca What to plant Bedding Plants: Even though temperatures are still warm, begin planting for the cooler months ahead. Impatiens, alyssum, and dianthus are good plants for the fall/winter garden. Bulbs: Plant agapanthus, rain lily, and Clivia lily now for blooms next spring or summer. Add organic matter to the planting bed for best results. Herbs: A wide range of herbs can be planted from seed or transplants this month. Some to try are dill, fen-
nel, parsley, and cilantro. Vegetables: Plant crops now that will grow and produce through the winter months. This includes beet, English pea, carrot, garlic, and onion. What to do Lawn weeds: Control winter weeds in lawns before they appear. Pre-emergent herbicides should be applied when nighttime temps drop to 55-60°F for several consecutive nights. Fertilize ornamental trees and shrubs: This is the last month of the year to fertilize shrubs and trees. Controlled-release fertilizer provides nutrients over a longer period of time. Fertilize lawns: For bahiagrass and centipedegrass lawns use a fertilizer (not a weed & feed) that contains controlled-release nitrogen for longer lasting results. Choose one with little
or no phosphorus unless a soil test indicates a need. This is the last lawn fertilization for the year. Strawberries: Prepare beds and set strawberry plants this month. Strawberries also make a colorful and tasty container planting. Water daily until plants are established. Fertilize Palms: Fertilize palms this month with 8-2-12+4Mg. Oleanders: The oleander caterpillar is a year round resident in South Florida. To control without harming beneficial insects, prune off infested leaves or spray with BT (Bacillus thuringiensis). Twig girdlers: Small branches falling from oak and hickory trees may be the work of twig girdlers. To control, clean up and destroy fallen branches, which may harbor young twig girdlers.

Tara Woods Celebrates National Hot Dog Day What better way to enjoy a “warm” July Sunday than coming together to celebrate National Hot Dog Day on the Verandah of the Clubhouse overlooking two sparkling pools. The Tara Woods Homeowners Association’s activity fund sponsored (what else) free hot dogs with all the fixin’s for all residents. In addition, there was freshly made popcorn, potato chips, rice crispy treats, homemade cookies, fruit punch and lemonade. Hats off to Bill Black and the hardworking volunteers who helped make for an enjoyable day. Meeting new friends and catching up with old friends reminds us just how special it is here in Tara Woods.

Did you Know? Ask yourself, if you were in a crash or other emergency situation, couldn’t talk and your cell phone was locked, how would your family and friends be notified? If you register your emergency contact information (ECI) into the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles system, law enforcement can contact your loved ones for you, and quickly, even across state lines. ECI is a secure system that only law enforcement nationwide can access in order to contact your designated family or friends in response to an emergency situation. If you have a Florida Driver License you can go to the website flhsmv.gov and in the search box type “emergency contact information”. You can register three names for the police to contact should you have an accident or medical emergency.

POKER, ANYONE ?!
LADIES! DO YOU PLAY POKER? How long has it been since you’ve played with friends? Did you know there’s a game every Monday night at the Clubhouse just for the ladies? Well, we really don’t have a “No Boys Allowed!!!” Rule, but men usually don’t like to play with wild cards and we do. But they’re welcome to play as long as they are willing to “play like girls”. It is most likely the least stressful and least expensive poker you can play around here! It’s a good night to socialize with the ladies and make new friends with the girls who like to play poker. The stakes are very low. Call Polly Brown, 731-1614, if you’d like to join us – she’ll fill you in on the details or answer any questions you may have.

MAGIC SOFTBALL UPDATE
PICKLEBALL The Pickleball Team is GROWING and doing awesome!!!! We are not at National Level but we love the game and where we are. Our mid-September headcount of players (including snowbirds and those in Beginners Training) is 40+. We received a phone call from the Marketing Company for Hometown America in July asking about our Pickleball Team and our ‘End of Summer Bash’ sponsored by the Amazin’ Aces (aka PBall Team). We explained how we started with four people (two couples) in May 2017 and that we have expanded our team weekly by inviting and training new people. We play five days a week, have different levels of play, and always welcome new players. We will train and coach all who want to join us. SOOOO come and see what we are all about. Two Bashes a year (Spring and Summer) are sponsored by our Amazin’ Aces Team and the entire community is invited to attend. If you have any questions about joining the Team contact Lynn Makia or Donna Erhardt
Your Tara Woods Magic Softball team will soon be meeting, organizing, and practicing for the upcoming season, which begins in early January 2019 through March. During November and December we will practice once or twice a week to wear off the rust and hone those skills. There will be an organizing meeting in early November at the Clubhouse. Be sure to check the November Columns for details of that meeting. As always, we are looking for new ball players. We have lots of fun, fellowship, and camaraderie. Please feel free to contact one of our coaches for details or to answer your questions. Bill Hubbs Bob Uccello Larry Baldwin Rod Browder

Welcome back to our Winter residents! On November 1st, the Computer Club will begin a new season of free computer classes for the owners, renters, and guests of Tara Woods. These are held at 10:30 AM every Thursday in the Card Room at the Clubhouse. They are open to everyone, and there is no membership fee. Our normal schedule of classes resumes on December 6. The first and third Thurs-
day of each month is devoted to Computer Basics. This is a complete course on how to use your computer. The second and fourth Thursdays are reserved for General subjects and cover a single specific topic of interest. If there is a fifth Thursday in a month, it is an open question and answer session where you can ask me almost anything you want. It’s never too late to join our group, even if you’re a total novice. This is a great time to learn the Basics; we are starting again at the very beginning and assume that you know nothing about computers. The General topics cover all sorts of subjects, programs, and hardware, including Windows, working with photos, multimedia, tablets, cell phones and e-book readers. We spend as much time as we need to on each topic, and the next topic to be covered is always posted
on the bulletin board in the Clubhouse. Feel free to attend only those classes that appeal to you. Bring something to take notes with, and your laptop computer if you want to follow along on it. I will answer any question you care to ask me. I also give private lessons and set up or repair computers in your home. I’ve been designing, programming, repairing, teaching, and working with computers since 1968, and can help you with all of your computer needs. Please call me with any questions or comments at 652-0488. I’m looking forward to seeing you. Dave St. Laurent, The Computer Tutor

Can You Count on a Bountiful Investment “Harvest”? We’re officially in autumn – the season when we bring in what we planted in the spring. But the concept of planting and gathering isn’t confined to agriculture. In fact, it can be used in many walks of life, including investing. So what can you do to help work toward a successful investment “harvest”? Here is (not quite) a bushel of ideas:
Plant the right “seeds.” When farmers plant specific crops, they know about what to expect – how long it will take for them to grow, how much yield
they’ll produce, and so on. When you invest, you too need to plant “seeds” by choosing investments that are designed to help meet your goals. For example, to accumulate enough money for a comfortable retirement, you will probably need to own a reasonable percentage of growth-oriented vehicles, such as stocks – you generally can’t expect the type of growth you need by investing solely in fixed-income investments, such as bonds and certificates of deposit.
Nurture your “crops.” Agricultural workers are diligent about cultivating their crops through proper irrigation, fertilization and weed control. And if you want to keep your investment portfolio healthy, you also must find ways to nurture it. First of all, you will need to keep adding new dollars regularly, because the larger your overall investment base, the more you can expand its growth potential. But you might also need to do some “weeding” of your own, because over the years, you may have purchased some investments that, for one reason or another, are now no longer suitable for your needs. If that’s the case, you might be better off by selling these investments and using the proceeds for new ones that could fill gaps in your portfolio.
Diversify. Farmers may plant a mix of crops: corn, soybeans, flax, legumes, fruits, and so on. Consequently, if one crop fails, it won’t sink the farmer’s
entire business. As an investor, you, too, need to diversify, because if you only own one type of asset class, and a financial downturn hits that asset, your portfolio can take a big hit. But spreading your dollars among stocks, bonds, cash and other investments can help reduce the impact of market volatility on your holdings. (However, diversification can’t guarantee profits or protect against all losses.) Thus far, we’ve looked at ideas on how you can create a healthy investment crop. But once it’s time to actually start harvesting your portfolio – that is, once you begin liquidating parts of it to support yourself during your retirement years – you also need to act carefully. Specifically, you need to establish a withdrawal rate that’s appropriate for your situation, based on your age, lifestyle, income sources and other factors. You could be retired for two or three decades, so it’s essential you don’t withdraw so much during your early years of retirement that you risk outliving your money. A financial professional can help you determine the rate that’s right for you. The agricultural harvest season only lasts a few weeks. But doing a good job of growing and managing your investment crop can help you reap the rewards far into the future.

HURRICANE COMMITTEE ! IMPORTANT !
In the event of a pending hurricane, the Hurricane Preparation Committee uses Calling Post (a telephone calling service) to update residents of the current situation. The call is prefaced by a recorded introduction. For the Hurricane Committee, it will say, “You have a Calling Post message from Frank Millette of the Hurricane Committee” and then proceed with the recorded message from Frank. It has been brought to my attention that many people do not answer calls when an unfamiliar calling number appears on their phone. The following number is the number that will appear from Calling Post: 405-3084474. Please add this number to your

contact list to allow these important calls to go through. If the phone is not answered, Calling Post will leave the message. It is not unusual that people say they did not get the call, when the call was answered by their answering machine. I know this information is coming a little late in the season, but hurricane season runs through November 30th. I also hope we won’t be needing it at all this year. If you have any questions, please give me a call. George Daly Hurricane Preparation Committee Communications, 239-567-2285, georgedaly@yahoo.com

INSPIRATION HOUR
“The heart is the happiest when it beats for others.” Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13
We don’t have a lot of tennis news for this October issue of The Columns, but we wanted to give you at least some information to get you thinking about our upcoming tennis season. TENNIS ASSOCIATION Fall is in the air once again and soon Tara Woods will be buzzing with activity. I hope everyone in the tennis community had a great summer, whether staying in Tara Woods or spending their summer up north or traveling. It’s time to start thinking about the upcoming tennis season. I hope everyone is looking forward to participating on the tennis courts this year. The first meeting of the Tennis Association is Sunday, November 25th, when the new officers will be installed, as per Association by-laws. Our monthly Round Robin is also scheduled for that day. I am looking forward to serving the members and their interests. We, as the Tennis Association, would like to extend an invitation to new residents of the community – whether full-time or snowbirds, experienced tennis play-
ers or novices with no prior playing experience, and everyone in between – to consider joining our group. This is a sociable, fun group. You will find friendly people who will welcome you to the courts for a fun time or, if it suits you, some friendly competition. We play social tennis every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday mornings at 9:00 AM. Just show up at the courts and give it a try; you’ll be welcomed to play. Or, if you just want to watch and see what it’s all about, we would be glad to see you there. There is no reservation needed – just show up at the courts. If you would like more information, you can get in touch with me at 218760-2855, by text or voice, or e-mail me at rkraff@paulbunyan.net. – Roger Rafferty Court Maintenance We were anticipating the courts to be refinished this summer. However, the managers (Darlene and Doug) have decided not to resurface them,
saying that it has been only three years since they were last done. We believe it was four years and the deterioration of the courts show the cracks and paint bleaching to indicate that it was longer. [Editor’s Note: The Tennis News article in the January 2016 issue of The Columns indicates that the tennis courts were resurfaced in the summer of 2015.] The ball machine was repaired by John Goers and Fred Puhlfuerst with the replacement of two springs to control the lateral movement. There has been no movement on the construction of the pickleball courts; presently the pickleball players share the tennis courts with the tennis players. They have a good group of players and are out regularly practicing their skills. – Fred Puhlfuerst TENNIS LEAGUES The tennis leagues at Tara Woods – both the Women’s and Men’s Teams – usually start their league play the first week in November. We hope you are eagerly anticipating our team matches – either as a member of a team or as a spectator showing your support for your Tara Woods friends. Women’s League Women’s Team – Angels There will be just one Women’s Team at Tara Woods this season. The Angels (with Janice Johnston as Captain) have practice on Tuesdays at 9:00 AM. League matches are played
on Thursday mornings, with the home games starting at 10:00 AM. Away games start at various times, depending on the location. The league schedule will be posted on the Tennis Bulletin Board as soon as it is finalized. Men’s League White Team – Stallions It is difficult to share the experience of the White Team as the team members are scattered over the country. We will have to wait until November to check on all the bodies and see if all the parts are working. The team was ten in number when we ended last season and selected the new season’s teams. Since then a new player has moved into Tara Woods (Ralph Rikon who moved here from Maryland). When all team members are present we will discuss our situation at that time; then we can report on how we plan to move ahead. At present there are seven teams in the White League. That is subject to change until the season starts in November. – Fred Puhlfuerst Blue Team – Tigers The Tara Woods Tigers want to welcome the newest Blue League team, the Tara Woods Mustangs. We wish them the best and look forward to playing them in the upcoming season. Sadly, we will be missing one of our own team members due to a family health issue. We all wish his family
member a speedy and complete recovery and we look forward to his return. The Tara Woods Tigers are pumped for the new season. Many of us will be arriving soon from the North and we are anxious to begin practicing. We’re all hoping for a fun, safe, and competitive season. – Al Dion / Mike O’Hearn Blue Team – Mustangs No report as of now. Looking forward to getting back and seeing everyone. – Ed Malatesta ROUND ROBINS Sunday, November 25th, marks the start of our first Round Robin of the season. Let’s start out the tennis season with a good turnout, so be sure to sign up to play that day. I’m sure you will want to attend the dinner, which will be hosted by Kathy Rafferty and Gail Bergin. Jean Moriarty and Gene Dickie volunteered to handle the courtside refreshments. There is no Round Robin in December. The remaining Round Robins are January 27th, February 24th, and March 31st. We need volunteers to host the dinners and we also need volunteers to handle the courtside snacks on those dates. If you haven’t volunteered in a while, maybe you would consider helping out. You don’t have to do it alone; getting someone to help you with the dinner or the refreshments will make the job easier. - Linda Engel Submitted by Linda Engel

BAILEY SPEAKS
Tech Problems
Wow! Did this summer come and go. Here we are again with our snowbirds just slowly but surely coming back for another eventful-whirlwind season. Even though I hate to mention it, we still have more months of hurricane season which ends November 30th. Oh well, you just can’t fool with Mother Nature as we well know - those of us who survived last year’s “Hurricane Irma” (September 10th). Sure, we lost many of our old friends, through moves or natural causes, hopefully to new homes that are constructed to withstand hurricanes or older homes with new facelifts. Also, seeing the new faces coming to our Tara Woods community they bring with them their stories from their states. We look forward to them sharing and contributing new possibilities to our up and growing community. Welcome, Welcome, Welcome! I have been on the mend with a series of ups and downs, but my spirit is high along with my master’s. Once again, I stress “Thank You all for your concern”. Going to these medical appointments, I have grown to really hate that each and every time the medical personnel come up with another diagnosis or a medical term that makes me want to chase my tail around, growl, or to make a tail spin. So, on the lighter side to laugh your funny bone (not the one I want to bury in the back yard, he! he!), I give you this segment of Bailey Speaks. (See Below) Medical terms for The Lay Person - Thanks to Pat Sparany for the terms. A warm welcome to Frankie and Johnny, my new furry cat friends, they are new additions to the home of John and Irene D’Amico. “Dogs laugh not with their voice, but they laugh with their tail.” Well, my time is up for this month. Just a reminder to pick up after us, and that the speed limit is 20mph. ‘Till then, Happy Tails, Bailey
