On March 12, 13 and 14 the Clubhouse was alive with lights on stage and an audience eager to be entertained. The cast felt the thrill of the applause and laughter. Thank you to the Tara Woods residents who came to the Clubhouse and supported our community theater group. They all enjoyed spending time together while keeping physical distancing, watching and listening to the live performance of the 1940’s radio shows.

FROM THE BOARD ROOM by Lou Your TWHA (Tara Woods Homeowners Association) has been very busy this last month working on issues affecting all Tara Woods residents. The Directors continue to meet with and touch base with committee heads to provide and develop a liaison relationship. Our many volunteers are the backbone of our community and our lifestyle. We thank each of you! If you would like to join this group of doers, reach out to any Director, or me, for more information. We met with the Community Manager to convey your thoughts and ideas to improve our community. While we are starting to see glimmers of improvement, much, much more needs to be accomplished. You can check out the meeting minutes on your Homeowners Association’s website – www. twhoa.net. January 27 – The Board sent a letter to Florida Governor DeSantis, copying all our elected representatives, volunteering to host a COVID-19 vaccination right here in Tara Woods to provide the much needed vaccine to our residents plus, qualified residents from surrounding communities. To date we have not received an answer. February 25 – The Board sent via email, a copy of the letter to Governor DeSantis, to The NewsPress, outlining our proposal and questioning the
assignment of vaccination sites in Florida centered on the super-rich areas and suggesting the newspaper investigate as to why regular people are seemingly unable to get on-site clinics. February 28 – The Board sent an email to the Community Manager requesting that she “free the furniture” and arrange more furniture around the pool. March 1 – Your Homeowners Association received an unreasonable reply to our reasonable request to “free the furniture”. March 6 – Your Board sent a request to the Florida Dept. of Health in Lee County to host a vaccine clinic in Tara Woods. Their response said that they have focused all efforts toward the large public site near RSW using public transportation and ample parking. March 8 – We sent a letter to Hometown America’s CEO explaining that Hometown is over-reaching and that we would like to be treated as the rest of Florida is treated. We have had almost daily conversations with the Community Manager concerning the long delay in getting the lap pool fully operational. March 10 – Pool Furniture is released from Clubhouse Prison and located around the pools.
March 11 – Your Board sent a letter to Lee County Commissioner Hamman stating that our community of seniors, many of whom are unable to leave their homes, are also unable to find their way to RSW sites to get their vaccine shot. These seniors do not drive, families do not live close by, and worse, the relied-on public transportation does not come as far north as Tara Woods. Therefore, the plan by Florida Dept. of Health in Lee County ignores our dilemma. March 12 – Your Board started collecting letters from residents to send to Commissioner Hamman requesting his help to get the vaccine here in Tara Woods. HEADS UP – We have recruited a Tai Chi instructor to give Tai Chi classes right here in the Clubhouse on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Thursday, April 1st, at 11:00 AM. Barbara Werner-Lubich is spearheading this new initiative. Go check it out. DID YOU KNOW THAT – we are planning to have our first Homeowners meeting in over a year on Monday, April 12th, at 6:00 PM outside in the north parking lot. We are still working out all the details. Please join us. Lou Dunning, President loudunning2@gmail.com239-240-5847
Resilience Is Key to Meeting Financial Goals
In just about any endeavor, you’ll benefit by showing resilience – and that’s certainly true when it comes to achieving your financial goals. You can demonstrate this resilience by answering these questions: What is your specific goal? What obstacle do you face in achieving this goal? How can you overcome this obstacle? Here are some examples of how this resiliency process works: Goal: Building sufficient retirement funds. To build sufficient retirement income, you need to invest in the financial markets through your 401(k), IRA and other accounts. But how should you respond when these markets go through periods of volatility? Your best defense is to remain invested. If you were to jump out of the market every time it dropped, you’d probably miss out on the rebounds that followed. Also, over a period of decades, the effects of short-term market fluctuations tend to diminish, so while the results of any particular day or week may not look good on your investment statement, the importance of these results may diminish in 10 or 20 years. Goal: Maintaining steady cash flow. Keeping a steady cash flow is essential to meeting your daily and monthly expenses. So, it’s obviously important that you maintain sufficient earned income. But what happens if you encounter a serious illness or injury that keeps you from work for an extended period? Depending on the length of time you’re not working, you could feel a real financial pinch, so you may want to consider some type of disability insurance. Your employer may offer a short-term policy as an employee benefit, but it might not be sufficient, so you may need to look at private coverage. Goal: Keeping retirement accounts intact. Ideally, you’d like to leave your IRA, 401(k) and other accounts intact until you need to start tapping into them when you retire. But what if you face an unexpectedly large medical bill or you need to replace your furnace or get a new car? If you don’t have the money readily available, you might be forced to dip into your IRA and 401(k), incurring taxes and potential penalties and leaving yourself fewer resources for retirement. You can help avoid this setback by creating an emergency fund containing three to six months’ worth of living expenses, with the money kept in a liquid, low-risk account. Goal: Having confidence in your strategy. To achieve your important financial goals, you need a strategy – and you need to believe in it strongly enough to keep following it during all types of stress on the financial markets. It’s not always easy to maintain this conviction – less than half of Americans are confident in their abilities to recover quickly from difficult financial situations, according to a new survey from Edward Jones. One way to help gain this confidence is by working with a financial advisor. In fact, 36 percent of those surveyed began working with a financial advisor in 2020 for help navigating the past year. The importance of receiving good advice became apparent during the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought about a variety of financial worries, such as job loss, retirement considerations, caregiving for elderly parents or providing financial support to adult children. You will face some challenges on your journey toward achieving your financial objectives. But by being resilient, you can stay on the right road.

GARDEN CLUB
It’s unbelievable that it has been a year since the pandemic changed our lives. Hopefully with the vaccine we will soon be able to see what is our “New Normal”. I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Easter. As this season ends, I wish everyone who is leaving a safe trip home. Next season has to be better. Summer is usually a quiet time and “normally our activities begin again in November, with the Fashion Show and Craft Fair. We will continue to review all the protocols for the virus and will keep everyone informed. Did you know:
Linda Hoos
If you look closely in the Butterfly Garden, you can see the larva on the various leaves of the special plants chosen for this reason and even get a glimpse of the pupa. All of the plants in the Butterfly Garden are chosen specifically for the butterflies needs in the different stages of its life. Even the muddy fountain, since butterflies (mostly male butterflies) get nutrients from the mud which they pass to the female thru mating. These nutrients help increase the chance of passing their genes to another generation. As Linda Hoos likes to say life is constantly going on in the Butterfly Garden, it’s a wonderful thought and we are lucky if we get to see it. Contact Rachelle DellaRocca at 239-322-6386 or ramdrmc@aol.com
What to plant Annuals: Plant heat-tolerant annuals, such as coleus, vinca, and portulaca. Bulbs: Cannas thrive in the heat of summer. New varieties have colorful leaves as well as flowers. Herbs: Add nasturtiums to your herb garden. The leaves and flowers add a peppery zest to salads. Vegetables: Continue planting warm-season vegetables such as eggplant, southern pea, bush bean, sweet potato, and summer squash. Watch irrigation if the weather is dry.
What to do
Pests: When monitoring insect activity, know which bugs damage plants and which do not. Identify and conserve beneficial insects: Some insects should be encouraged in your yard! Flowering Plants: Damaged flowers on gardenias and roses may indicate thrips are present. Tomatoes: Watch for pests, disease, and nutritional disorders on developing tomato plants. Palms: Identify and treat environmental and nutritional disorders in palm trees. Oleanders: Chewed or ragged leaves indicate oleander caterpillars at work.
Fruits: Propagate fruit crops by air layering and grafting. Divide perennials and bulbs: Divide clumps of bulbs, ornamental grasses, and herbaceous perennials to expand garden beds or to pass along to friends. Shrubs: Choose from a wide variety of shrubs to add to the landscape now. Excerpts from the UF gardening calendar South Florida edition, for complete information see website.

Hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful weather that we have been having. Hard to believe that plans are being made for Memorial Day!! (yes May). This year, it is the intention to place a flag for every veteran who lives or who has lived here at Tara Woods in front of the clubhouse to thank them for their service. Also flags are going to be placed from the guard
gate down the islands up to the clubhouse. Flags need to be purchased and we are reaching out for donations so that they can be ordered. If you would like to honor your veteran, past or present, and would like to help out with a donation, please call or see Marie Ivens at Saturday morning coffee. Thank you in advance for your help with this great project.

FERAL CATS IN TARA WOODS! What is a Feral Cat? Feral cats usually avoid people. Actually, you might never see them. They usually travel and hunt at dusk and dawn. They can belong to a colony or be alone. They crouch close to the ground and avoid eye contact. You will never hear them meow or purr, but they will hiss if cornered. Some cats might not be totally feral. They might have been dumped or left behind. These cats are scared and unfriendly and are in an unusual position to defend and feed themselves. Stray, abandoned, or free roaming cats might seek out human companionship after trust is established. Feral cats will not. Unneutered cats will breed at an alarming rate. Feral female cats can have three to four litters per year. They can get pregnant while nursing their present litter and nine weeks later have another litter. The average litter is four kittens and if any of them are female, they can start breeding as early as six months old. Thousands of these cats can make Tara Woods their home in less than a year. All of these cats attract predators like coyotes and bobcats. They are an easy meal for coyotes who hunt in packs and bobcats that can go anywhere they can, like climbing trees – not to mention the small kittens that can’t run. This also makes it dangerous for early morning and late evening walkers or dog walkers. Some of these predators can carry rabies, especially ones you might see in the daytime. What is TNR? TNR means Trap-NeuterReturn. Yes, RETURN to live out their lives here where they are familiar with their surroundings. This is why we should be diligent to keep the number of feral cats at Tara Woods to a
minimum. I have been a part of a wonderful group of people in Massachusetts that ran Feral Spay Sundays. Once a month traps were set out, and these cats were brought to the clinic. Fifty to one hundred cats were done in one day. The condition of these cats is alarming! Some of these cats cannot hear because their ears are full of mites, some have mats of fur that was so tight they needed to be shaved, and some needed tooth extractions to protect them against infections. I once found a bullet just under the skin. A lot of these cats are pregnant, especially during the spring and summer clinics. In Florida it can be year round! Unfortunately, these kittens are aborted. I have attended the Gulf Coast Humane Society training seminar, and this entitles me to three FREE spay/neuters, a two week antibiotic injection and rabies vaccines. These cats are also ear tipped, so we don’t trap already spayed/neutered cats. Additional vaccines are an additional cost. We are aware of one cat in the Kara Circle/ Darwin Street area. We believe she already had her kittens, but she has hidden them. She had a litter last fall. Only one kitten was found and brought to an expert on feeding kittens under four weeks old. Unfortunately, this little girl, we named Kara, didn’t make it. It could have been failure to thrive, or she sustained an internal traumatic injury. Her mother was just a kitten herself so any number of things could have happened. So, please keep your eyes open! Report any sightings to Nina Lynes, 2813 Orlenes Street, Lot #347, (413) 548-5880, 418nina@gmail.com. PLEASE DO NOT APPROACH THESE CATS! They will move to another location.

ENTERTAINING NEWS So, Ladies and Gentlemen…April flowers are blooming all over Tara Woods. This is a lovely time of year. I hope that if you were one of the few who took the opportunity to see our play in March that you enjoyed the work that our cast and crew put forth to entertain our community. There really is no news from the Entertainers corner, but I want to take this opportunity to tell everyone how much I enjoy working with the seasoned and new cast members and crew. Without much going on in Tara Woods we need to create our own entertainment. If anyone thinks of an outdoor activity that we could help create, please contact me and we will make every effort to help and assist anyway we can. Several years ago, we put on a show “Tara’s Got Talent #1”. It was very well received by our community. I would like to explore this
idea for some time next season for a “Tara’s Got Talent #2”. Anyone interested in sharing their talents on stage, contact me, and I will share our ideas with you. The talent from last time was singing, accordion playing, guitar and singing, reciting a monologue, and everyone will remember the telling of the “12 days of Christmas” which, if you were there, you know that it is probably still going on. We also had a comedian who also is still telling jokes somewhere – it was an entertaining evening. So, like I said, if you have a talent to share with the community, give me a call and we’ll talk. “You come from dust and you will return to dust. That’s why I don’t dust. It could be someone I know” Pat Dunning, President of the Entertainers 239-240-5848 pdunning46@gmail.com

Tai Chi has been shown to improve one’s flexibility, coordination, relaxation, balance, stamina, and blood oxygenation. It has also been shown to help relieve stress and reduce blood pressure and heart rate. All are particularly important as we age. With the mind and body united in movement, seniors find they feel good and can bring this feeling into their everyday lives, making them more resilient physically and emotionally. What are classes like? Tony teaches the Taoist forms of Master Moy Lin Shin. First 20 minutes: Foundation exercises, slowly and gently working all muscle groups and joints with an emphasis on deep breathing and relaxation.
Second 20 minutes: From the beginning, step by step learning the forms of Master Moy Lin Shin. Demonstrating and practicing each movement in order, emphasizing stance, direction, hand and foot position, all in order to achieve the most physical benefit. Last 20 minutes: Connecting the learned movements into the relaxed, continuous, flowing form of Tai Chi. What should I bring to class? Tony recommends comfortable clothes and flat shoes that allow the foot to glide and pivot. One of the best shoes for Tai Chi is FitKicks available on Amazon for $20-$23. Ballet style slippers like those sold by Isotoner (any brand will do) are also acceptable. Just want to try out Tai Chi before buying shoes? You can wear socks for the short term. Not allowed: bare feet or sneakers. Not sure if shoes you already have are acceptable? Bring them to class to show Tony along with socks just in case. Bring a water bottle. It’s important to stay well hydrated and we will take a brief water break part way through class.
EXERCISE FOR SENIORS CURTIS IS BACK & HE IS LOOKING FOR YOU!! Now is the time to get up and get going again. This is a total body workout that can be done standing or sitting down. It includes stretching, balance, cardio and light weights. Give it a try - nothing to lose and may even gain some muscle. Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays in the clubhouse at 8:00 AM. Any questions, please contact Barb Simonson at 541-840-4430.

A sign-up sheet for next season’s Women’s Tennis Team has also been posted on the Tennis Bulletin Board. Of course, at this time we are unsure of what will be taking place next fall – whether there will be a tennis league consisting of teams from our neighboring parks, whether Hometown America and Tara Woods will allow outsiders to play on our courts, etc. At the present time, we would like to get an idea of who might be interested in playing on the Tara Woods Angels women’s tennis team next season – so, if you’re interested in being on the team, we’re suggesting that you sign up now. Please note that the women still get together to play tennis on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 – 10:30 AM. If you are new to Tara Woods

TWIT
(Tara Woods Inter-Community Tennis) TWIT is played every Thursday morning at 10:30 AM; all four courts are used for the matches. Because we presently have five groups involved in TWIT, one group begins their match at 8:30 AM. The group that starts at 8:30 AM is set up on a rotating basis, so each week a different group has that early time slot. TWIT is designed for intermediate tennis players and is organized and run by Dick Heffron and Mike Renzulli. – Linda Engel
ROUND ROBINS
We are about to end the 2020-2021 tennis season. Our last Round Robin scheduled for February 28th was cancelled due to a lack of interest. Therefore, the March 28th Round Robin was also cancelled. I feel that the Tennis Association, next year, should look into the event continuing. We have not had a lot of participation all season. Whether we change days or have a different type of event could be discussed. We will look forward to the next season and hope we will be over the COVID problem. We would then be able to enter a new season next fall with better opportunity to play our scheduled events. – Dale Holat, Round Robin Coordinator Submitted by Linda Engel

ACTIVITIES, ACTIVITIES Happy Easter! It looks like we’ll be celebrating the same way we did last year. Thank you to Sue & Ron Proulx for arranging the Easter display at the Clubhouse to help us remember the meaning of this important day for all Christians. Maybe it’s faith that has helped you through this past year. Whatever has sustained you through this very difficult time, let’s hope that it won’t be long until we will return to some sort of normalcy. In the meantime, let’s wear our masks, maintain social distancing, get vaccinated and do our part to eradicate this virus as quickly as possible. Don’t forget the Ice Cream Social on Sunday, April 4th, at 6:30 PM sponsored by Hometown America. This free event is hosted by Bill Black & Friends. Drive-thru at the Clubhouse after your Easter dinner for an ice cream sundae dessert.
Thanks, Bill & Friends, for hosting this event. Monday, May 31st, is Memorial Day. A dinner will be hosted by Bill and the Dog Park Club at the Clubhouse. Check out all the information in this issue of The Columns. Bill will also be decorating Tara Blvd., and the front of the Clubhouse lawn with flags honoring our military veterans. Hundreds of flags are needed to support this effort. You can donate to purchase a flag at Saturday Morning Coffee, before Tuesday Bingo, or contact Marie Ivens. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have questions regarding the events at this time or in the future. Janet Daly, Activities Coordinator janetdaly@yahoo.com 239-567-2285
NEW ENGLAND CLUB Hello, New Englanders. Unfortunately, we never got to get together at all for the 2020-21 season. As many of you leave for the summer, please stay safe, stay healthy, get your Vaccines, and brush up on your New England trivia!! Hopefully, we’ll be able to resume our great club in October!! ~ Judy Machnicz

SHILOH SPEAKS
www.TWHOA.net
Neighborhood Watch
Ah April, our fourth month of our twelvemonth calendar year – which we may experience April showers. But remember last April, we were experiencing the reality of the onset of COVID-19, in which I stress to one and all to be SAFE, STRONG and SMART, and from that day to this day, I STILL STRESS this saying. So, in this segment of “Shiloh Speaks”, I’m addressing: “A LESSON IN HUMILITY” • If you can start the day without caffeine. • If you can get going without pep pills, • If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains. • If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles. • If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it. • If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time. • If you can overlook it when those you love take it out on you, when through no fault of yours, something goes wrong. • If you can ignore a friend’s limited education and never correct them. • If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend. • If you can face the world without lies and deceit. • If you can conquer tension without medical help. • If you can relax without liquor. • If you can say honestly that deep in your heart you have no prejudice against creed, color, or politics. Then my friend, you are almost as good as your DOG (or maybe a CAT). I know if you live in the past, you will die in the present (and don’t think of this as an “April Fools’ Joke”. Well, my time is up for “Shiloh Speaks” for this month, just a few notable events in the month of April. April 1st – April Fools’ Day April 2nd – National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day April 3rd – World Party Day April 4th – Easter (Happy Easter All) April 5th – Deep Dish Pizza Day April 6th – Sorry Charlie Day April 7th – No Housework Day April 8th – All is Ours Day April 9th – Name Yourself Day April 10th – Golfer’s Day (Fore!) April 11th – National Pet Day (Hug us) April 12 – Walk on Your Wild Side (But don’t forget to have your fourfooted furry friends to join you.)
April 13th – Scrabble Day April 14th – Reach as High as You Can Day April 15th – INCOME TAX DUE (Yikes) that includes THAT SUCKS DAY April 16th – National Stress Awareness Day April 17th – Blah Blah Day April 18th – Pet owners Independence Day April 19th – National Hanging Out Day April 20th – Volunteer Recognition Day April 21st – Administrative Professional Day April 22nd – Earth Day April 23rd – Lover’s Day – along with Take a Chance Day April 24th – Pigs in the Blanket Day April 25th – East Meets West Day April 26th – National Pretzel Day (Put mustard on mine) April 27th – Morse Code Day April 28th – Kiss Your Mate Day (I’ll give you one great big wet lick, if that’s okay?) April 29th – National Zipper Day (I think buttons are better) April 30th – Arbor Day
WELL! My time is REALLY, REALLY UP! Just a reminder to “KEEP TARA WOODS CLEAN” by picking up after us. See you next month. Now I’m on the hunt for that “EASTER BUNNY” to get my Carmel Cadbury Easter Eggs – maybe he or she won’t notice me ‘cause I’ll have a mask on. Happy Tails. SHILOH P.S. Happy Birthday, Triska.

THE MAIN MOTIVATOR What is the main reason, the main motivator, that moves us to do what is best for us, to take this prescription: to laugh a lot and accentuate the positive... to practice good nutrition and regular exercise... to make and keep loving relationships with family, friends, neighbors, with brothers and sisters everywhere… and to nourish a healthy, hearty spirit which is the key to taking this prescription today, tomorrow and all our tomorrows to come! Let me tell you a story. A long time ago a physician, some call him the great physician, was making his rounds in a crowded clinic around a pool in old jerusalem... the belief was that twice a day an angel
stirred the water in the pool and whoever would be first into the pool after the angel stirred the water would be healed. Like any competent, compassionate physician, he took a careful history with each patient before offering his diagnosis and prescription. He came to an elderly patient, an obvious cripple, and this how their visit went: Dr: How long have you been lying by this pool? Patient: 38 years. Dr: And what happens when the angel stirs the water? Patient: Somebody always beats me into the pool.
Dr: You mean to tell me you’ve been lying here for nearly 4 decades and never have figured out how to be first into the pool? And then this great physician asks him, and you, and I this key question: do you want to be well? (john 8) Next time we’ll consider what, or rather who, moves us to answer “yes” to this question. Thanks for listening and god bless you with wellness. Barry Maberry
MY SURPRISING JOURNEY Life has been all about learning lessons. First, don’t fall in love at age 13, but if you do, don’t have four children by age 23, but if you do, don’t marry a man who isn’t around to help, but if you do, make sure he doesn’t work two jobs, but if he does, try not to be too
lonely, but if you are, do not move to rural New York and run a resort/restaurant with four teenagers, but if you do, don’t move back to the city and get a lesson in humility as a secretary, but if you do, make sure your knees don’t wear out or you will have to retire
to Florida like I did with the guy I fell in love with 59 years ago, and if you do, well, it wasn’t such a bad life after all. Barbara Nollman, in the Reader’s Digest Book Best Life Stories.
JOKES • I changed my car horn to gunshot sounds. People get out of the way much faster now. • I didn’t make it to the gym today. That makes five years in a row • I decided to stop calling the bathroom the “John” and renamed it the “Jim”. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning. • Old age is coming at a really bad time. • When I was a child I thought “Nap Time” was a punishment. Now, as a grown up, it feels like a small vacation. • The biggest lie I tell myself is ”I don’t need to write that down, I’ll remember it.” • I don’t have gray hair; I have “wisdom highlights”! I’m just very wise. • If God wanted me to touch my toes, He would’ve put them on my knees. • Last year I joined a support group for procrastinators. We haven’t met yet.
• Why do I have to press one for English when you’re just going to transfer me to someone I can’t understand anyway? • Of course I talk to myself. Sometimes I need expert advice. • At my age “Getting lucky” means walking into a room and remembering what I came in there for. • Actually I’m not complaining because I am a Senager (Senior teenager). I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only sixty years later. I don’t have to go to school or work. I get an allowance every month. I have my own pad. I don’t have a curfew. I have a driver’s license and my own car. The people I hang around with are not scared of getting pregnant. And I don’t have acne. Life is great. • I have more friends I should send this to, but right now I can’t remember their names. • Now, I’m wondering: did I send this to you, or did you send it to me?
LAWYER JOKE One afternoon a lawyer was riding in his limousine when he saw two men along the roadside eating grass. Disturbed, he ordered his driver to stop and he got out to investigate. He asked one man, “Why are you eating grass ?” “We don’t have any money for food,” the poor man replied. “We have to eat grass.” “Well, then, you can come with me to my house and I’ll feed you,” the lawyer said.
“But sir, I have a wife and two children with me. They are over there eating grass under that tree.” “Bring them along,” the lawyer replied. Turning to the second poor man he stated, “You may come with us, also.” The other man, in a pitiful voice, then said, “But sir, I also have a wife and six children with me!” “Bring them all as well,” the lawyer answered. They all entered the car, which was no easy task,
even for a car as large as the limousine. Once under way, one of the poor fellows turned to the lawyer and said, “Sir, you are too kind. Thank you for taking all of us with you.” The lawyer replied, “Glad to do it. You’ll really love my place. The grass is almost a foot high.” Come on!!! Did you really think there was such a thing as a heart-warming lawyer story? Look at Congress -- over 400 lawyers!!!

YOUR TARA WOODS HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION AT WORK
We are often asked as board members “what does the Homeowners Association do?” That is not a simple question to answer. Basically, your Homeowners Association serves as a liaison (your voice) between you (the Homeowners Association) and Hometown America (the property owners). You may have seen recent emails between our Board president, Lou Dunning, and Hometown America. The board basically communicates any problems or issues to the park manager, Karen Lawson. Karen takes appropriate action on those issues. I do have to say, even though issues and requests are submitted, they are not always acted on favorably or in a timely fashion, however. So, we ask for patience if something that you deem important does not get resolved immediately. Please know that we as a Board are working behind the scenes. There are many ways the Homeowners Association affects your daily lives. You may not know, but each of the eight Board members of your Tara Woods Homeowners Association are volunteers and are assigned specific committees for which they are responsible. They serve as a liaison between the committees and the Board of Directors. Let me list a few of the committees/activities
so that you get an idea of the scope of the Board of Directors involvement in your (our) community: • Publish The Columns newsletter • Maintain the website • Maintain the Library • Maintain an active activities schedule • Sunshine Committee • Kitchen Committee • Memorial Committee • Neighborhood Watch and Safety Committee • Certified Emergency Response Team (CERT) • Silver Alert • Welcome Committee (New Resident Orientation) • Rent Negotiation Committee • Neighbors Helping Neighbors • Community Improvement Committee • FMO Committee (Federation of Manufactured Homeowners) These are just a few of the “things” we do to help maintain a happy, safe, friendly environment here at TaraWoods. If you are interested in helping with any of the above committees, please contact Peter Krilivsky at 603-493-8891 or any Tara Woods Homeowners Association Board Member.

CRIBBAGE
There’s a “new” game at Tara Woods. If you hear someone say, “fifteen two fifteen four” and you don’t think they’ve lost a screw or two, come and join us in the Card Room every Wednesday at 2:00 PM for a few games of Cribbage. The arrangement is fairly flexible since Cribbage can be played by 2 or 3 or 4 players. Just be there by 2 PM. Cards, cribbage boards and fun will be provided. Contact John D’Amico at 239-731-7928 or danyyankees1@comcast.net.
POKER, ANYONE? LADIES! DO YOU PLAY POKER? How long has it been since you’ve played with friends? Did you know there’s a game every Monday night at the Clubhouse just for the ladies? Well, we really don’t have a “No Boys Allowed!!!” Rule, but men usually don’t like to play with wild cards and we do. But they’re welcome to play as long as they are willing to “play like girls”. It is most likely the least stressful and least expensive poker you can play around here! It’s a good night to socialize with the ladies and make new friends with the girls who like to play poker. The stakes are very low. Call Polly Brown, 731-1614, if you’d like to join us – she’ll fill you in on the details or answer any questions you may have.
For more information and for firing of the kiln please contact Bonnie Abend, 217-0707, or Janelle Wissler, 770-2686. We hope you will come and participate in making ceramics with us. Come join the fun. Bonnie Abend
