LEAP INTO MARCH EVENT If you missed the LEAP INTO MARCH EVENT sponsored by the Pickleball Team on Saturday, February 29th, (it was Leap Day), you missed a fun and wonderful time that was had by all. There were games, a scavenger hunt, door prizes, pass the hot frog circle, a Giant Jenga (we made

it to twenty-eight levels) and MEDALS/ PRIZES TO BE WON!!!!! The competition got fierce at many of the games as folks tried to jump frogs, toss frogs, pass frogs and dance like frogs. Many new friendships were made while roaming the Clubhouse looking up, down and all

around for the hidden little critters! I just hope we found them all!!!!! It was so nice to see sooooo many folks just have fun, relax, meet new people and catch up on each other’s lives in the busy season. If you missed the fun - see you in four Years!!!!! Lynn Makia

TREASURES OF TARA Enthusiasm, energy and empathy categorize Pat and Ed Sparany, who many people at Tara Woods know. Both Patty and Eddie were raised in Newark, New Jersey but both moved to Brick Township, a beautiful shore community near the Atlantic Ocean, in their young adult lives. Their young lives had many challenges, and when Patty arrived in Brick she was a young widow, raising three active boys and working many jobs. Her husband had died suddenly at the age of 43 of a heart attack. Ed, too, had sorrows in his early life. Later, he married and adopted his first wife’s two daughters, Barbara and Rose, and they had a son, Justin. After eighteen years as a single parent, Pat met Ed at their place of employment, the Brick Township School System. Pat was the lunch lady and cook and Ed was the maintenance engineer. Their lives and luck changed on that St. Patrick’s Day in 1998 when they met. They purchased a home on the Metedconk River in Brick. As only Patty would, on their wedding day she arrived by boat, wearing her wedding dress, riding in the back of a speed boat, driven and surrounded by her

three sons, Skip, Kevin and Shawn. Ed met her on their dock, where they held the wedding ceremony, twenty-one years ago. They all became one family, joined by Ed’s son Justin. During this time, Pat was involved in local politics, as recording secretary to raise funds for a new hospital in Brick. Ocean Medical Center is now one of the finest hospitals in the state! As we know, she is very outspoken, so she was an excellent union rep for the cafeteria workers, and for ten years was involved in the Booster Club and was also a cheerleading chaperone. Brick Township knew and loved Patty Sparany!! They honeymooned in North Fort Myers, so they were familiar with the area and purchased their home in Tara Woods in 2003, renting it out for three winters. In 2006 they retired and moved permanently to Tara. We have not been the same since!!! They are/were active in the NY/ NJ Club, involved in the St. Patrick’s Day Party, Activities Committee, Appreciation Day Parade and their church. Patty was our photographer, chairperson for the Library for six years, active in Entertainers for eight years (director for one year) and is

presently coordinator of Red Hats and Chairwoman of the Memorial Committee. Ed loves his Friday horseshoes and works hard keeping our homes as beautiful as his, with his weed-whacking, power washing and doing odds and ends in Tara Woods. They are both grieving and recovering from the tragic death of their young Justin and are so appreciative of all the love, prayers, and cards from

Tara Woods. They are overjoyed with their twelve grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. For all the birthdays, they send them three dollars, symbolic of: 1) Faith, Hope and Charity; 2) Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and 3) I love you more today, than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow! We say the same to you, Patty and Eddie, but without the three dollars! Mary Nothnagel

on April 1st, at least they didn’t have April Fools’ Day on April 15th. (Income Tax Day.) As for other days, if you want to make note in April are: April 2nd, National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day, 3rd World Party Day, 4th World Rat Day, 5th National Dandelion Day, 7th National Beer Day (maybe that’s why it goes along with No Housework Day), 8th Passover begins at sundown, 9th Name Yourself Day, 10th Golfer’s Day along with Good Friday, 11th National Submarine Day, 12th Easter, 13th Scrabble Day, 14th National Pecan Day, 15th (Income Tax Day), 16th Eggs Benedict Day, 17th Pet Owners Independence Day, 18th Juggler’s Day (those who are multi-taskers), 19th National Garlic Day, 20th Volunteer Recognition Day, 21st Kindergartner Day, 22nd Earth Dayand Jelly Bean Day, 23rd Take A Chance Today, 24th Arbor Day, 25th World Penguin Day, 26th National Pretzel Day, 27th Prime Rib Day, 28th Kiss Your Mate Day , 29th National Zipper Day, and finally

the 30th National Mahjong Day. I know we may not do all or remember these special events, but every day has a special meaning to one and all. So, my time is up for Shilho Speaks ‘til next month – don’t get fooled and always pick up after us. HAPPY TAILS! SHILHO HAPPY EASTER!!! P.S. Keep an eye out for the Leprechaun.

SHILOH SPEAKS Happy Saint Paddy’s Day! So, I am out on the hunt forGuess who’s bark – I mean back? It’s me, Shilho, and that’s no April Fools. As you well know, I was on the hunt for that little green munchkin – old St. Patrick’s lephrechaun last month, with many tribulations. But there is an upbeat on this scenario – my master tried her best and with great success located my leprechaun. If it wasn’t for Publix, where they say shopping is a pleasure, my master substituted a box of Lucky Charms cereal with Lucky the leprechaun in front of the cereal box. Better yet, my cereal was on BOGO, and they’re still magically delicious! Wow, to think that only a few months ago, I was telling you to turn your clocks back, and then, on March 8th, to set our clocks forward an hour. Now here we are in April, which brings April Fools’ Day, Easter and those delicious Cadbury Eggs; even though I can’t have them, I still enjoy seeing the commercials on this product. And you would think I am on the hunt for the

Easter Bunny, but surprisingly, I’m not. I see enough of our cottontails in the neighborhood. So, this segment of Shilho Speaks is on April Fools’ foolish origins: Some historians believe that it began in France and was connected to Pope Gregory XII’s adoption of the Gregorian calendar, which moved New Year’s Day from April 1st to January 1st. April Fools’ may have originated because those who celebrated on January 1st made fun of the foolish folks who continued to celebrate it on other dates. It may also be tied to the ancient Roman Festival of Hilaria, also known as Roman Laughing Day – when citizens would celebrate the vernal equinox and honor the Antatolian Earth Goddess with a day of jokes. Mark Twain said this of April Fools’ Day in his novel “Pudd’nhead Wilson”published in 1894: “This is the day upon which we are reminded of what we are on the other three-hundred-and sixty-four.” So, don’t be surprised if you get fooled

FROM THE BOARD ROOM by Lou There is one thing certain in life. Every now and then life will throw you a curveball. You all know what I mean. All the plans have been made, all the preparations have been done, and you are set and ready. Then the curveball. In this case the curveball is the Coronavirus. This changes everything and forces us to make quick adjustments. Starting in earnest on Thursday, March 12th, your Homeowners Association Board has been working diligently with Hometown America with the goal of keeping all our residents safe. As a result, your Homeowners Association, in conjunction with Hometown America, have cancelled all large gatherings of residents in the Clubhouse. By now you have heard of this decision and are aware of the many events that had to be cancelled. I thank your Board of Directors for their active involvement in working to decide how best to keep our residents safe. At this point this pandemic is a moving target and things are continuing to change. We will continue to stay on top of evolving developments and will take prudent action to protect our residents and Community. It is disappointing that so many wonderful events have been cancelled. I have talked with

many of the people and groups involved. While they are rightly upset, they understand that we are making necessary decisions based on the best information available. We thank all these individuals and groups for their understanding. One person told me, I know this is right but I don’t like it – hence the curveball. Because things are changing quickly, I encourage you to register on your Tara Woods Homeowners website (www.twhoa.net). As you know, this website is free and sponsored by all TWHA members. We will be using this valuable resource to share all changing information. As a source of information, your Board of Directors is using the Clubhouse bulletin board, where the posters of events were, to post any new information that comes to us. Please do not post your own information. Bring any information to myself or Sue Cook and it will be reviewed to see whether or not it needs to be revised to include the whole community or not. Thank you all for your patience as we work through this together. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Lou Dunning. Lou Dunning, President loudunning2@gmail.com 239-240-5847

FMO NEWS: TARA WOODS HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION NEWS Thanks to you, our homeowners’ associations and FMO members from around the state, that the FMHA was willing to find some common ground with the FMO. Following are some of the changes to SB818 and HB1339. Original bill removes the right for a home buyer to assume a lease and receive the initial prospectus that goes with the lot. Changed as follows: A home buyer may continue to assume the remainder of an assumable lease. Keeps current law. A home buyer will have the option to receive the seller’s prospectus or a new prospectus. Permits amending the current prospectus without disclosure to

homeowners about expanding the size of the park. Changed to require amending prospectus when expanding the park to include new lots. Requires a home buyer to make changes prior to occupying the home. Resales may become impossible. Deleted from the bill which takes the pressure off the resale. Homeowners must continue to maintain the community standard as established in the prospectus. Imagine how much more can be done if we didn’t leave it up to our neighbor to make the telephone calls or send the emails. Today, more

I am working hard to make Tara Woods the best property in the Hometown America portfolio. I do my best to accommodate all requests, however, it is not always possible. Sometimes there are regulations that we are expected to follow and be self-governing. As of Wednesday, April 15th, smoking/ vaping at the pool, pool deck, Clubhouse entrance doors or unapproved areas of the Verandah, will not be permitted. This has been a long-time policy with Hometown America, but for some reason was not put into effect at Tara

Woods. I appreciate that this new regulation might be frustrating for some, however, it is a policy backed by Hometown America and our regional manager. Again, I hope you understand my position and, I hope that you, as adults, will follow the new policy. Please feel free to contact me at the office with any questions. RESIDENT APPRECIATION DAY Gone – but not forgotten. I want to THANK the Resident Appreciation Day Committee, who worked so hard behind the scenes to make this day so special. To all the Team Leaders and their support staff. To the Office Staff who were there when asked. And to Hometown America’s financial support. Thank you!! I purposely did not name names for fear of leaving someone out. As you can see, it takes an army of residents to ensure that everything goes as planned. There is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes for your enjoyment. As with any event, the committee would

appreciate your feedback. What you liked, what could be improved, etc.? We are seeking constructive input. This is your day and we are seeking your input. Please send your suggestions, recommendations, changes to Stuart Berman at stuartberman34@yahoo.com or drop them off at Lot #670. Please provide contact information so we can properly respond to you. Most of all, congratulations to Fred and Jan Puhlfuerst, our 2020 Honorees. Stuart Berman

Support for Community is a Top Priority In today’s challenging times, Edward Jones financial advisors are thinking about the health of their clients, their families and their colleagues, what’s happening in their communities and the effect of Covid-19 on the markets. “Most importantly, we want everyone to know we’re taking steps to protect the health and well-being of our clients, associates, families and communities,” Adam Hromiak says. “We’re right here in the community with you, going through this together as neighbors and friends. And we will get through this together.” To help reduce the impact of the coronavirus, financial advisors are taking several steps, including suspending face-to-face residential visits with clients, holding “virtual” meetings and training sessions and ensuring office spaces are sanitized and disinfected. “Like everyone, we really have to do our part to help mitigate this crisis,” Hromiak says. “But since our entire reason for being in business is to help our clients enjoy more rewarding lives, we feel that our efforts now are just an extension of that.” Of course, people’s financial situations also weigh on their minds. “The current market selloff is certainly concerning, but it seems to be driven more by fear and panic than by economic or financial reality,” Hromiak says. Monetary and fiscal policy are necessary, but at the end of the day, it will be the medical progress that will dictate the timeline for reducing market volatility and the ultimate rebound in stocks. Hromiak said Edward Jones expects daily volatility to persist until new virus cases begin to slow, but added that investors should find optimism in these facts: unemployment is near a 50-year low, with solid wage growth; there’s been an uptick in the housing market, which may accelerate due to declining mortgage rates; and the Federal Reserve has cut short-term interest rates back near 0%. Furthermore, the drop in investment prices may indicate that the financial markets have already “priced in” the likelihood of a short-term recession. “This could mean that we’ve already endured much of the stock market pain, ,” Hromiak says. “And even a short recession is of concern to all of us, since it’s likely to bring a least a temporary disruption to an otherwise strong labor market.” For investors wondering what to do now, Hromiak offers these suggestions: First, remember why you’re investing. “With the market decline, people will be tempted to change their investment strategies,” Hromiak says. “But they need to keep in mind that most of their financial goals, such as a comfortable retirement, are long-term in nature – a lot longer-term than the shelf life of the coronavirus. If investors have established a long-term strategy that’s appropriate for their needs, they should stick with it, no matter what today’s headlines are.” However, Hromiak does suggest that individuals who are particularly concerned over the current results of their investment statements might want to evaluate their risk tolerance. “If you are truly losing sleep over what’s going on in the markets, it’s possible your portfolio is positioned too aggressively for the amount of risk with which you’re comfortable,” Hromiak says. “In that case, you should work with your financial advisor to see if you need to adjust your investment mix to include more fixed-income securities, which can provide some downside protection, but you’ll be making a trade-off, because you’ll also be affecting your longterm growth potential.” Finally, Hromiak says, now might actually be a good time for investors to consider actually adding to their portfolios. “Right now, many stocks are at their best values in more than a decade,” Hromiak says. “If you need to rebalance your portfolio, this could be a time to do so.” Ultimately, Hromiak says, investors need to realize that, while we are in somewhat uncharted times, the temptation to panic should be fought. “All our emotions are running high right now,” Hromiak says. “And while everyone’s top priority should be to protect themselves, their families and their communities, it’s still important not to lose sight of their financial well-being. And for that, the best thing all of us can do is look past short-term downturns and maintain the discipline to keep investing in all types of markets.” Edward Jones, a Fortune 500 company headquartered in St. Louis, provides financial services in the U.S. and, through its affiliate, in Canada. Every aspect of the firm’s business, from the investments its financial advisors offer to the location of its branch offices, caters to individual investors. The firm’s 18,000-plus financial advisors serve more than 7 million clients and care for $1.3 trillion in assets under management. TENNIS NEWS I would like to introduce myself, Ed Sandre, the new President of the Tennis Association. I would like to thank Roger Rafferty, the past President, for his years of dedication to the Tennis Association. I would also like to introduce Greg Girard, the new Vice President, and to also thank Fred Puhlfuerst for his dedication to the Tennis Association. Both gentlemen have agreed to help us transition into our new positions, which is greatly appreciated. This season is quickly coming to a close, but Greg and I would like to invite anyone interested in tennis to come out to open tennis on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM. All levels of players are welcome to participate; come out and try it and meet new people. For those who are not sure or who don’t have equipment, there are some tennis racquets in the storage container in the Craft Building just behind the courts. If you are a beginner and would like some lessons, just let us know and we can arrange it. Enjoy the balance of the season and have fun. See you on the courts! – Ed Sandre.

TENNIS LEAGUES WOMEN’S LEAGUE Women’s Team – Angels The last four matches that were played in February and March (consisting of 24 sets) resulted in 23 wins and only 1 loss for the Tara Woods Angels. Our last match of the season is an away game on March 12; I will report

on that result in the next issue of The Columns. With that last match yet to be played, I can already report that the Tara Woods Angels finished the season in first place with an impressive 14 sets advantage over the second place team. – Linda Engel. SWIFT League With one match to go, the Tara Woods women’s tennis team has clinched first place in the SWIFT league. We struggled as a team, united as a team, battled as a team, lost as a team, and won as a team. I cannot tell you how proud I am of every player. It has been a privilege being the captain, but the team deserves all of the credit. Our playing team includes: My co-captain Mary Sandre, Julie Wehrung, Janell Wissler, Jean Moriarty, Linda Engel, Priscilla Taylor, Sharon Boehlke, and Gail Stewig. Our active subs are Carole Neveu and Liz Wilson. Our non-playing members are Janet Daly, Dawn Benjamin, and Gale Pinelli. When you run into any of these ladies in the community, be sure to congratulate them. Thank you also for all of the support that we received from the community during the season. We would love to welcome anyone interested in playing tennis to stop by the courts. A few of us on the team learned to play after moving to Tara Woods, so the possibilities are here for anyone who would like to start playing again or to learn the game. Have a great summer, and we look forward to another successful season next year. – Pam Ahlers.

MEN’S LEAGUE White Team – Stallions The Tara Woods White Team, the Stallions, are having a good time competing with the tennis players from our fellow parks. We have six teams in our division, and at this point in time we are in second place. There are a couple of teams right behind us in points with three weeks to go. Lets go Stallions. – Glen Fisher. Blue Team – Tigers The Tara Woods Tigers 12th game was a home game against the Six Lakes Patriots, with the results being the Tigers 4 and Patriots 2. The 4 Tigers wins were split, with 2 wins on Court 1 and 2 wins on Court 2. Our 13th game was an away game played at Pine Lakes against the first place Pitbulls. It was a breezy day with the Tigers winning 1 and the Pitbulls winning 5. Our 14th game was a home game against the Herons Glen Smashers. The Tigers put on a great performance with 5 wins. The performance on Court 2 was enhanced by a newly strung racket! The Tigers have two games left – a home game against the Admiralty Admirals, followed by a match with our other Tara Woods team, the Mustangs. – Al Dion / Mike O’Hearn. Blue Team – Mustangs On February 10th, the Mustangs played a makeup game against the Herons Glen team at home. The original date had to be postponed due to high winds and a loss of the windscreens. The Mustangs won the match 4-2.

On February 27th, the Mustangs played against a very good Six Lakes team. After a slow start, the team was able to split the match 3-3. As of this writing we have four games remaining and we are looking forward to a rematch with our other Tara Woods team, the Tigers, to be played on March 19th On March 5th, the Mustangs played our neighbor over at Lake Fairways and we split the match 3-3. For the remainder of the season, we are using substitutes because of team injuries. – Mike Renzulli.

ROUND ROBIN On February 23rd we had the third Round Robin of the season. Fourteen players signed up and they played four sets on three of our courts. It appears the competition was vibrant and enjoyed by everyone. It is a good chance to enjoy the company of other Tennis Association members who are mostly playing with their team members in county and city leagues. There was a forth Round Robin scheduled for March 22nd before this article was written. We will look forward to more of these events after our usual summer break. There will be four Round Robin events scheduled for the 2020-2021 season. The dates are November 22nd, January 24th, February 28th, and March 28th. – Dale Holat Submitted by Linda Engel.

KARA CIRCLE ANNUAL BLOCK PARTY Neighbors and their guests gathered at the Clubhouse for good food, good times and laughs and games, on March 5th. Evie & Paul Loud officiated over the bean bag softball match, with men versus the women. Fran & Mike Curtis’ grandson Calvin and his friend volunteered to return the bags – at times dodging wild throws! Oohs and ahhs rang out after close throws, and the men came from behind to pull off a win. Pat Sparany suggested that with all the new faces in the crowd that we pass around the microphone during dessert. Neighbors introduced themselves saying how short or long they’ve lived in Tara Woods. When Mariam Norris mentioned she’d been at Tara Woods thirty-two years (!), she was honored by drawing the 50/50 ticket. In light of recent current events and cancellations, never miss the opportunity to get to know and laugh with your neighbors. Have a safe summer. Bill Beaulieu

GARDEN CLUB

The Trash and Treasure was a Huge success. A big THANK YOU to Everyone who donated items. A special THANK YOU to ALL the great volunteers; without these people the Trash and Treasure would not be possible. The Garden Club will again be able to hold the Fashion Show in November as a free event. We will also be able to make donations to CROW and ECHO and have monies to keep up our beautiful Butterfly Garden. As a heads up, this year’s Fashion Show is Friday, November 20th. There are lots of new people in the park; ladies have you ever thought about being a model? We need models for the November fashion show. It’s lots of fun and you get to wear the newest fashions. Interested, either join the Garden Club or contact me. A special thanks to Linda Janis for jazzing up our resident garden gnomes! A very special thanks to Sue Van Sickle whose help in the garden is never ending. In my spring clean-up of the butterfly garden I have been joined by our garden alligator who I am officially naming Milkweed and designating our mascot. He either loves gardening or is very hungry for a gardener! Please take time to visit the Butterfly Garden. Linda and John Hoos continue to do such a great job. Did you know: If you look closely in the Butterfly Garden, you can see the larva on the

various leaves of the special plants chosen for this reason and even get a glimpse of the pupa. All of the plants in the Butterfly Garden are chosen specifically for the butterflies’ needs in the different stages of its life. Even the muddy fountain, since butterflies (mostly male butterflies) get nutrients from the mud which they pass to the female thru mating. These nutrients help increase the chance of passing their genes to another generation. As Linda likes to say, life is constantly going on in the garden; it’s a wonderful thought and we are lucky if we get to see it. Rachelle DellaRocca 239-322-6386 or Linda Hoos ramdrmc@aol.com

What to plant Annuals: Plant heat-tolerant annuals, such as coleus, vinca, and portulaca. Bulbs: Cannas thrive in the heat of summer. New varieties have colorful leaves as well as flowers. Herbs: Add nasturtiums to your herb garden. The leaves and flowers add a peppery zest to salads. Vegetables: Continue planting warm-season vegetables such as eggplant, southern pea, bush bean, sweet potato, and summer squash. Watch irrigation if the weather is dry.

What to do Pests: When monitoring insect activity, know which bugs damage plants and which do not. Identify and conserve beneficial insects: Some insects should be encouraged in your yard! Flowering Plants: Damaged flowers on gardenias and roses may indicate thrips are present. Tomatoes: Watch for pests, disease, and nutritional disorders on developing tomato plants. Palms: Identify environmental and disorders in palm trees.

and treat nutritional

Oleanders: Chewed or ragged leaves indicate oleander caterpillars at work. Fruits: Propagate fruit crops by air layering and grafting. Divide perennials and bulbs: Divide clumps of bulbs, ornamental grasses, and herbaceous perennials to expand garden beds or to pass along to friends. Shrubs: Choose from a wide variety of shrubs to add to the landscape now. Excerpts from the UF gardening calendar South Florida edition, for complete information see website.

Bye-bye birdies! And my bingo friends will definitely be saying bye-bye to me! Another win tonight! As you all read this, some of you will have made the trek home and others will be packing up and leaving soon. The last month goes so quickly. We have enjoyed the beautiful weather – the cooler days were welcome. We all met new friends, new homeowners. Thank all of you who organized our monthly dinners. At the March dinner, Elaine and Peter provided us with a delicious flank steak dinner. Think about next season and let us know which month you would like to host. Hope you took advantage of the many activities available, i.e., games at Resident Appreciation Day, golfing at the first annual Golf Tournament at Del Tura, exercise classes in the pool and inside the Clubhouse, line dancing, cards and shuffleboard. Plan for the next season and join in or, if there is an activity, feel free to organize an event. Safe travels home. Brenda Redgers

The April event is being held at the Magnolia Landing restaurant. Sunday, April 26th, is the date and 11:00 AM is the time. (This will be the only scheduled meeting date for the month of April.) A selection of four items will be our menu for that day: Landings Trio (chicken salad, tuna salad and egg salad on a bed of greens), Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Long Pond Grouper Sandwich, and Magnolia Burger. Each person will order as we arrive and pay the bill individually with cash or credit card. Cost is $16.00 and includes entrée, dessert, nonalcoholic drink, tax, and tip. Any questions, please call Belle Berman who is chairing the event. Barb Pollitt, Secretary

MIDWEST CLUB NEWS The colors of green, purple and gold filled the Clubhouse as Midwest Club members wore their best beads and beautiful feathered masks to celebrate Mardi Gras at the February 21st meeting. The jambalaya was scrumptious and was served along with some tasty salads and desserts prepared by our wonderful Midwest Club Chefs. After a fun game of Mardi Gras bead hot potato, Claire Schwinn was crowned Queen and Kent Hetzer the King of Mardi Gras.

MID-ATLANTIC SOCIAL CLUB NEWS The spring season is well on its way. The clocks have sprung ahead to give us more sunlight. In Florida we always have sun for part of the day (Yea!) The brunch on Sunday, March 8th, at the Isles Yacht Club in Punta Gorda was well attended. A lot of smiles from everyone as we exited showed how much we enjoyed the food and fellowship at the March event. Thanks to Sylvia Stump for organizing this event.

On March 6th, the Midwest Club celebrated National Pie/Pi Month at their meeting. The imaginations and the culinary skills of the Midwest Club cooks were evident as Onion Pie, Crab Quiche, Vegetable Pie, Chicken Pot Pie, Coconut Cream Pie, Chocolate Éclair Pie, and Apple Pie, to name of few, were prepared for the Club to sample. Scrumptious vegetable, cheese, Hawaiian, meat lovers, sausage, and pepperoni pizza pies from Morrone’s were provided for the meal by the Midwest Club. Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, our last meeting of the year was cancelled. We will have to wait until next year to see if Vicky Hoard’s team will remain the Trivia champs. Stay tuned! It has been a great year with laughter and good friends. Whether you are headed north or staying in Florida, be cautious and stay healthy. See you next season. Debbie Polenska, Co-secretary

TARA WOODS COMPUTER CLUB Welcome back to our Winter residents! The Computer Club has begun a new season of free computer classes for the owners, renters, and guests of Tara Woods. These are held at 10:30 AM every Thursday in the Card Room at the Clubhouse. They are open to everyone, and there is no membership fee. The first and third Thursday of each month are devoted to Computer Basics. This is a complete course on how to use your computer. The second and fourth Thursday are reserved for General subjects and cover a single specific topic of interest. If there is a fifth Thursday in a month, it is an open question and answer session where you can ask me almost anything you want. It’s never too late to join our group, even if you’re a total novice. This is a great time to learn the Basics; we start at the very beginning and assume that you know nothing about

computers. The General topics cover all sorts of subjects, programs, and hardware, such as Windows, working with photos, multi-media, tablets, cell phones and e-book readers. We spend as much time as we need to on each topic, and the next topic to be covered is always posted on the bulletin board in the Clubhouse. Feel free to attend only those classes that appeal to you. Bring something to take notes with, and your laptop computer if you want to follow along on it. I will answer any question you care to ask me.

I also give private lessons and set up or repair computers in your home. I’ve been designing, programming, repairing, teaching, and working with computers since 1968, and can help you with all of your computer needs. Please call me with any questions or comments at 652-0488. I’m looking forward to seeing you. Dave St. Laurent, The Computer Tutor
