THE MANUAL OF THE AMIGO
Foreigners, a big community • Currently, approximately 60% of the student enrollment belongs to the foreign community • Foreigners are a vulnerable student segment due to various factors • A solution to attend the necessities of the new students was the Amigo CAF program created by the CAF department in 2015
What is the Amigo CAF Program? • It’s personal approach with new students through a year-long accompaniment by students of advanced semesters • Amigos CAF are mostly students who are doing their social or scholarship service, and in a smaller part, volunteers
Amigo CAF process • Grantees are assigned > the Coordinator sends an informative email with a measurement instrument > the Amigos CAF must create their groups and continuously share information > at the end of the semester they have to report evidence • The Coordinator affirms that numbers have surpassed the capacity of the program, so contact has to be done impersonally
What do the Amigos CAF think about this?
1. We did a discussion group with 4 Amigos CAF 2. As a group, they confirm that Amigo CAF is important to help the new students adapt to the University, however, the program has some flaws: 1. Lists provided by APREU are not always up to date 2. Disinterest of students 3. Amigos CAF without the right profile 4. Untruthful measurement instrument 5. Lack of information to answer student doubts
Analysis
• Contrasting the information with the Situational Leadership theory we detected that Coordinator’s delegating leadership should be change to a couching leadership • Also, the Amigo CAF program has potential to create transformational leaders
The Manual of the Amigo CAF A digital guide for the Amigos CAF with of tips to improve their performance and relationship with foreigners It functions as an informative supplement ribution will start on August 2019 Status: Achievable

Conclu sions
Recommendations • To hold a meeting in which the Coordinator motives the Amigos CAF • To develop a better measurement instrument like a satisfaction survey or a discussion group • To work together with ADEFA
