The Crook and Flail • The Crook is used for shepherds to catch their sheep. • The flail is used in threshing, to separate the grains from the outer husks. The Crook and Flail was important for Egyptians because training sheep was for food and the flail was for separating grains. The two objects were often placed in the coffins of the Pharaohs. Even on Tutankhamen’s death mask there was a Crook and flail.

First there was only NUN. NUN is water of chaos. One day a hill rose up named Ben-Ben, and on the hill the first god, Amun stood up. And Amun coughed and spat out 2 gods, Shu god of the air and Tefnut, goddess of moisture. Shu and Tefnut married and got Geb god of the earth and Nut, goddess of the sky. Shu lifted Nut up so Nut became a canopy over Geb. Nut and Geb married and gave birth to Osiris, Seth, Isis, and Nepthys. Osiris was the King of the earth, and Isis was the queen. But one day Seth was angry that Osiris got to be the king of the earth and killed Osiris. Osiris went down to the underworld and became king of the underworld. Seth became King of the earth. After that, Horus Osiris`s son battled against Seth and won. So Horus became God of the Earth.
