Mystery Trip Thursday 3rd June
The last mystery for Issue 15 and we have made space for a good one. Travelling out into the sticks for morning tea will be a discovery, in fact, the discovery could be the theme of the day really. A couple of new venues to No.8 will be exciting to experience. Hidden secrets a reflection of the gems to all to be unveiled outside city limits. Come and joy the last mystery soiree before the onset of winter.

Raurimu Spiral, the Chateau Tongariro & Huka Falls Cruise
Departure Thursday 17th June
DAY ONE
Be driven by bus to Otorohanga and board the Overlander travelling to National Park Station via the Raurimu Spiral. Hopefully enjoying snow clad views of Tongariro & Ruapehu, from the very wellappointed train station café. Here we will collect you and drive the magnificent Mount Ruapehu road to the ‘Bruce’ car park and then weather permitting, take a ride on the new Sky Waka Gondola taking in the views. Our accommodation for the night is the Grand Tongariro Chateau located at the base of Mt Ruapehu, a lovely nostalgic destination offering great views of Tongariro and Ruapehu. We will enjoy a three-course meal in the warm atmospheric restaurant and relax in the Chateau lounge with the crackling fire and piano playing in the background.
DAY TWO
After a hearty cooked breakfast at the Chateau and a presentation of the new No.8 Tour schedule, we shall depart making our way through wonderful mountain scenery back to Taupo. Once we arrive, we will board the Huka Boat River Cruise for an hour and a half tour to the head of these powerful falls. A real New Zealand experience with crystal clear water, birdlife and native bush lined riverbanks. See natural hot streams and the earth's energy that drives Wairakei Geothermal Power Station. Enjoy complimentary tea and coffee while cruising on water that is always calm. We will stop for lunch at Lava Glass and check out the ever-evolving sculpture park. Then make our way back home to Tauranga.

Midwinter Xmas Lunch at Farty Flowers Fawlty Towers!

Recently relocated from England, Basil, Sybil and Manuel will host us for lunch in their new Boutique Hotel, Fawlty Towers. This lunch show is performed in true Fawlty Towers and Monty Python fashion and is as good as it gets so much so we can confidently state without a doubt that this is the most outrageous, hilarious Fawlty Towers Lunch Theatre show ever to be performed in NZ for that matter the world! The show follows a storyline with a beginning, middle and very satisfying suspenseful ending. Your hosts today, the “manic, misanthrope” Basil Fawlty and his “languid little nest of vipers” Sybil (his wife), along with their “lovable, confused and tormented” Spanish waiter Manuel will go above and beyond the call of duty. They guarantee their guests are treated to a whirlwind of classic Fawlty Towers comedy, with played out scenarios full of entertaining confusion and chaotic hilarity.
