NOWADAYS BATHROOMS HAVE EVOLVED INTO SPACES WHERE WE CAN RELAX, FIND REFUGE AND YET EXPRESS OUR TASTE AND CREATIVITY. THE DESIRE TO CREATE OUR HOME OASIS AS A RESPONSE TO OUR FAST-PACED LIVES IS IMPACTING BOTH BATHROOM FURNITURE AND INTERIOR DESIGN, BLENDING FUNCTIONALITY WITH RELAXATION, TECHNOLOGY WITH SUSTAINABILITY AND NATURE WITH ART. EITHER AT HOME, IN PUBLIC SPACES OR IN THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY, BATHROOMS HAVE EVOLVED MORE THAN ANY OTHER ROOMS. CHANGES AND INNOVATION INCLUDE FINISHES, FURNISHINGS AND TECHNOLOGY BUT ABOVE ALL THE WAY HOW WE NOW PERCEIVE THIS SPACE. FROM AN INTERIOR THAT PRIORITIZES HYGIENE, STIMULATES SELF-CARE AND MINDFULNESS AS WELL AS THE NEED FOR MORE SUSTAINABLE AND ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE PRODUCTS, BATHROOMS ARE NOW CENTRAL TO HOME DESIGN. SANCTUARY BATHROO KEY FEATURES 01 / Biophilic design can connect us with nature and improve our wellbeing. Greenery, tropical motifs, stone, terracotta, are some of the main biophilic elements in bathroom décor. Earth and neutral colours, muted whites, as well as natural light, are also favoured. Glass walls and ceilings are now used to connect bathrooms with gardens and the sky. / Bold and darker greens are becoming more recurrent as these shades recall natural surroundings. While soft tones of green evoke calm and harmony, bold and darker verdant hues evoke depth and make powerful statements. / Stone age aesthetic is on the rise for bathroom décor due to a demand for pieces that celebrate the crude essence of rocks and stones. Rough surfaces and organic shapes are used to stimulate our senses and balance out our fast speed and high-tech lives. Irregular and unfinished stone, marble, onyx, concrete and wooden details are becoming an integral part and powerful focal point in contemporary bathrooms.

Smart showers that start and warm the water to the desired temperature; smart mirrors that provide weather forecast and news; and voice-activated lighting are now a reality. When it comes to toilet seats, we see touchless solutions for raising or lower the lid and flush as well as self-cleaning, self-deodorizing, and antimicrobial seats. PURIFYING COATINGS for bathrooms have been on the researchers' radar to tackle indoor pollution and hygiene. Manufacturers are working in ground-breaking technology to offer ceramic surfaces that can reduce pollution and improving air quality. WATER-SAVING SOLUTIONS are impacting both household wallets and the environment. Digital faucets, for example, turn the water on and off when they sense hand motion, some offer programmable features, such as setting times for teeth brushing. Smart water heaters with Wi-Fi connectivity send alerts for spills and leaks while smart water monitors provide insights to water usage. Smart showers now allow for pause and set a specific amount of time for washes, and high-efficiency toilets use less water. SPA-LIKE LUXURIES are becoming more accessible to home bathrooms. New technologies are delivering showerhead that features massaging rollers or produces an overhead rainfall effect while heating drawers allow to warm up towels or robes. We also see the incorporation of aromatherapy rituals into bathrooms with new products such as Moen’s Aromatherapy hand shower, which has pods that infuse the stream with essential oils.
