ith sweeping panoramas spanning over twenty-five miles of the Atlantic Ocean, Golden Beach, and the cityscape, the Regalia Penthouse residence exudes a serenity of charm in 10,755 square feet of oceanfront living. From the consummate hands of the designer, Charles Allem, the interiors boast a brio of iconic statements and finishes throughout the three-tier coastal residence of six bedrooms, six full bathrooms, two half-baths and pool bath that fuse art with functional décor. Gracing the entrance and expansive central living area is a cantilevered stone staircase, a 1,000-bottle wine cellar of millwork, metal, and glass, and a backlit smoky quartz bar with all the amenities that provide an intimate setting to entertain the exclusive of gatherings. The room’s centerpiece is a one-off antique-bronze metal chandelier with layers of more than 225 floating tubular glass pendants by Ilanel designed to emulate rain during the day and star constellations at night. Complementing the sprawling, open layout is an adjacent formal dining room featuring a chandelier of rock crystal baguettes and a custom nine-foot, 12-person table made of two single stone slabs. Custom-finished sandy-taupe natural oak floors from Oscar Ono Paris balance the textural elements of the space and hand appliqué linens and drapery by Loro Piana on the high walls draw the eye to the subtleties of detail. Dual-master bedrooms designed with midnight bars engulf views of blue skies and exude the illusion of floating above the ocean water. A 2,000-squarefoot master wing encompasses a his-and-her bathroom and full private spa, both entirely clad in Calacatta Gold natural stone with a steam room, sauna, massage beds, and couples Jacuzzi tub with hydrotherapy and air treatment jets.
Italian elegance surrounds the hearth of the home with Italkraft kitchens. To ensure utmost privacy, the Penthouse also has a separate living and kitchen area for guests and designated staff quarters. The ultimate entertainment center engages the moviegoer with a home theater and an adjacent 1,100-square-foot game room that proffers a lounge setting, bar and designer billiard table with a vintage light fixture. Each level of the unit can be privately accessed by a newly-designed pneumatic vacuum glass elevator that peaks at the homes pinnacle of opulence – a 360-degree rooftop sun terrace. An outdoor summer barbeque kitchen comes equipped with a retractable roof, stone-covered sky bar with lounge seating, and a pool bathroom and outdoor rain shower. The rooftop’s trophy piece is its expansive waterfall that cascades directly into a private pool amid a backdrop of unobstructed views of Miami, from Coconut Grove to Fort Lauderdale. The residence will bestow a gift as regal and memorable as Regalia’s name. A three-carat pink diamond, valued at $500,000, will be hidden in the property upon purchase, to ensure its discerning buyer the most exquisite experience. The new homeowner will discover the location of this rare gemstone by searching for the treasure through secret clues presented in a sealed box at signing. Chad Carroll expresses, “The Penthouse is as much the credo of luxury living, as is the rarity of the precious stone that is concealed within.” REGALIA PENTHOUSE - The kingship of Sunny Isles Feel the breadth of inner peace and abound yourself in 17,000 square feet of white glove treatment. A CANDID SOUTH FLORIDA LUXURY REAL ESTATE REVIEW WITH CHAD CARROLL PHOTOGRAPHY BY JEFF REMAS ELEVATE: Who is the Carroll Group client? CHAD CARROLL: The Carroll Group represents a plutocrat of global clientele whose interests move among the worlds of commerce, art, and culture. The prowess of our team is in understanding the heritage of the South Florida marketplace and how that encompasses our unique buyer's desires and dreams, with a spectrum of investment to residential properties from Miami to Palm Beach. We don't sell homes; we curate a lifestyle. ELEVATE: What differentiates the Carroll Group team from others in the luxury residential South Florida and New York marketplace? CHAD CARROLL: Our peerless, marketing platform allows us to share properties worldwide and gain maximum exposure for our clientage. The Carroll Group commitment is that you're part of our life and family. ELEVATE: What is the social and economic appeal for a buyer in the real estate market in South Florida today? Is there a divergence between Miami/Fort Lauderdale versus Palm Beach? CHAD CARROLL: South Florida is a melting pot, with people coming from all over the world. You can say it has become a little New York. Among its cosmopolitan culture of beautiful beaches, restaurants, and nightlife, the tropical climate makes it advantageous for people to live here year round. We're seeing a resurgence of industry jobs which is not only adding to its enticing appeal but demand in the luxury real estate boom. In recent years, the trend of contemporary builds is moving steadily into northern areas with prowess developments emerging from Fort Lauderdale into Jupiter. ELEVATE: What liberates you about personalizing a client's experience? CHAD CARROLL: We provide a full service to probi. We go above and beyond our standard duties to ensure every detail handles with delicacy and efficiency. Our aim is in providing an enjoyable and seamless experience.
ELEVATE: In your terms can you describe the design elements of the Regalia Miami in Sunny Isles and what made Italkraft a most valuable design partner. CHAD CARROLL: The Regalia is the crown jewel of South Florida. Its sleek design completed with sophisticated dĂŠcor is what creates the allure to the ultra-affluent consumer. The Penthouse and Beach House, along with the common areas of the building were designed by the distinguished visionary of interiors, Charles Allem with whom ELEVATED life into the Regalia and converted our exclusive residences into altruistic art forms. The proffer of exquisite materials of limestone and rare marble, along with state-of-the-art technology enchants the design enthusiast. Our beautifully appointed kitchens and closets orchestrated by Italkraft are where functionality and opulence fuse in simplistic elegance. ELEVATE: Are there any arousing developments you would like to share with our audience? CHAD CARROLL: We are very excited about our recent listing at 609 S. Beach Road in Jupiter Island's Cielo-y-Mar. It sits on nearly twoacres between direct views of pristine oceanfront and the Intracoastal Waterway. Designed by Silicon Valley architect Scott Hughes, this newly constructed home is inspired by the natural habitat of the island. ELEVATED more than 20 ft on a complex system of cement pillars into the bedrock, the magisterial caress of the poured concrete adds to the architectural charm of the property. The lovely landscape of the exterior abounds by native flora and an Eric Grate sculpture imported from Sweden, and it comes fully equipped with a comfortable fit dock for a 100-foot yacht. Other amenities include interior floors in Jerusalem stone that were sourced and hand-selected by the home's builder directly from the quarry, self-tinting windows, and a 10k gallon cistern capturing rainwater to irrigate the extensive gardens. The estate is a boater's paradise. thechadcarrollgroup.com

phenomenology of proportion, the One Thousand Museum is a musical repertoire of mesmerizing beauty that’s the primacy of the Miami skyline. Hadid’s mastery of design is a dichotomy between engineering and mysticism that echoes her spirit within the walls. Oliver Bray, Lead Architect at Zaha Hadid Architects shares,” To understand the building, is to understand the psyche of it. Architects tend to look at limitations within boundaries. When you take away the boundaries, you’re able to move freely and manipulate work under original constraints. The essence of Zaha was to “drive the quality,” and to challenge perceptions. The One Thousand Museum is the vertebrae of her soul.” In addition to serving as the Architect of Record for One Thousand Museum, ODP Architecture and Design fostered a close-knit relationship with Zaha Hadid Architects. Excited by the collaboration, they are executing the design of 57,000 square feet of the public space inside the residential tower, to include: the Valet lounge; lobby, conference center, Business lounge, front/back office, suburban vault, spa, wellness center, Sky lounge, and helipad. Richard Brewer, Associate and Project Manager for One Thousand Museum at ODP, utters, “The 1000 museum is a cohesive piece of different moving parts. Its defined by its efficiency of mathematics and materials. Comparative to a composer, the delicacy of construction and the tempo of its structured choreography are the fundamental elements that bring the grandiose score together. It was an honor to “translate her spatial concepts” into actuality. “ “Emotions influence design,” comments Lachmee Chin, Director of Interiors at ODP. A design concept transliterated into reality, Chin’s notion is an interior metamorphosis, indelible to the butterfly life cycle that links to a color scheme in the context of individual levels of the tower. Relating to nature, vibrant greens and plush textures nourish the palette of the lobby on level 1. Chin describes this stage as adding layers of softness to emphasize the ‘’feel-good” effect of uncompromised rare beauty. Luscious neutrals and exhilarating earthy browns have their influence on the stage of rejuvenation in the state-of-the-art wellness center and pool deck on level 8, and spa area on level 9. The sky lounge on the upper level of 60 embraces the intricacies of change in deep azure and sky blues that present a state of calmness and give us a new perspective. Amethyst is known for its allure and stunning beauty. “Because the utilization of the space is for entertaining and private dining, I wanted the colors to move with the ever-changing atmosphere,” says Chin. The aquatic center with indoor pool and helipad lounge on level 61 is where you to see the transition happen. It’s a natural progression of how light enters the space, from day to dusk, and nightfall. Chin exaggerates, “The butterfly leaves its chrysalis, taking to flight, and soaring the light. The interiors of this space will magnify the breathtaking views that overlook Biscayne Bay, the Atlantic Ocean, and over the horizon.”

“The decidedly innovative essence of this project, born from a perfect union between the two different worlds of yachting and civil architecture; the major difficulty was to make an already excellent product even better. If the shipyard’s identity is recognized universally as a sophisticated luxury product, then the Se77antasette ELEVATES yachting to a higher dimension than we have ever seen before, drawing on Romero’s skill and Benetti’s know-how”. — Vincenzo Poerio, Benetti CEO

4/2/18 1:30 PM
As the first concept yacht designed for Benetti by award-winning international designer, Fernando Romero, the Se77antasette embodies Benetti’s creative spirit. Fernando confers with ELEVATE to share the milieu of intellectual craftsmanship and forward-thinking technology behind the yachts’ bold design. ELEVATE: What was the inspiration behind the name of the yacht? FERNANDO ROMERO: The name se77antasette comes from the Italian word for 77, settantasette. Due to the fact, that the superyacht is exactly 77 meters long, the name felt fitting. Not only that but by incorporating the length of the yacht into the name, it not only distinctly differentiated it from naming conventions, but it also helped to define the boat as one that breaks from design conventions, to further stand out as a state-of-the-art superyacht of the future. ELEVATE: Describe the curve of the boat, and how you designed the flowing lines and what effect they have on how the yacht propels through the water? FERNANDO ROMERO: We began the project by researching the history and evolution of the Benetti brand and how they have approached projects over the last century. It gave us the opportunity to encompass their process of yacht custom-build design. Each of the Benetti’s vessels has similar iconic features that connect the superstructure decks on the side elevation. We took this motif and translated it into a contemporary element that continuously moves between all the tiers, structure, and interior arrangements. The shape resulted in a hexagon, known to be found in marine habitats as highly efficient patterns. As non-naval architects, our inquest led us into discovering technologies from the military, vehicle and aerospace industries, such as the flat panel antennas integrated into the ship dome. Collaborating closely with the engineering team of Benetti instituted us to rethink many dogmas in yacht design. Most masts of boats typically hold the radars, antennas, and lights. Benetti’s operators worked with leading aerospace and marine suppliers to devise an entirely new way to hide the navigation system, without the compromise of control. With regards to propulsion, the final configuration is made with five variable speed Caterpillar generators that allow the use of the full power available from the diesel engine as the speed is not limited to any rpm, and hence the required space is reduced. With this configuration, it was possible to keep the entire engine room on only one level, the under lower deck, allowing the
lower deck to dedicate to accommodation entirely. Another advantage of the variable speed generators is the efficiency in sharing loads through the various operational modes (cruise, anchor). This power flexibility allows for getting lower exhaust emissions. We wanted the ship to keep a congruous appearance. In the undertaking of this pioneered intent, we crafted a proprietary telescopic mast that is homologous in the glass dome, to allow a visually dynamic union that seamlessly carves into the structure, offering spatial proportions that enhance the close relationship between nature and sea. ELEVATE: How do different spaces allow for more modern views on living? FERNANDO ROMERO: Se77antasette stands out for the extreme adaptability of its spaces according to the needs of life on board. The stern entry deck, with three complete openings, can transform into a massive terrace that overlooks the surrounding sea, becoming an exclusive spa area dedicated entirely to relaxation. The ability to open up and embrace the sea or remain a closed, intimate space makes this one of the most exclusive areas on board. As such, we wanted to create adaptable spaces that not only accommodate the passengers but respond to how they want to experience life on the open seas. ELEVATE: What would be the new dining and kitchen trends that come from concept to manufacture? FERNANDO ROMERO: While the galley is still below the deck, because of shifts in lifestyles, we wanted to emphasize that food and entertainment are vital components of the yachting encounter. Comparable to dining at a restaurant with an open kitchen, we marinated the concept by placing a chef’s station into the dining area. Gastronomy is a visual art that enhances our mood; and therefore, the beauty and precision of seeing a meal constructed influences the overall guest experience. Providing the flexibility for the client to have different ways of entertaining and dining on their boat is the ultimate luxury. ELEVATE: Can you talk about the contemporary aspects of the interior design? FERNANDO ROMERO: As with everything we do, we strive to contextualize and translate the scenario for the project into the project. As such, our goal was to integrate as much nature into the yachting experience as possible. The observatory, on the upper deck, is the hidden crown of the yacht that emphasizes mesmerizing panoramas of the open sea underneath the stars. To
integrate as many views as possible, we utilized high-performance glass slabs. The uprights contain air conditioning ducts to keep the temperature at humidity under control, while at night the dome can be used as an augmented reality screen, controlled by voice commands and movement sensors to inform on the position of the hull. Passengers can enjoy the serene view, away from the city’s light pollution. ELEVATE: While the yacht is undeniably futuristic, I notice elements of wood which are prevalent throughout Se77antasette’s design. FERNANDO ROMERO: As I mentioned, Context and translating that context into a design is the basis of our practice. By learning all the contributing factors, constraints, and potential opportunities of a given project through the iterative process allows us to discover what the design should be by translating historical, social, economic and environmental contexts into an iconic contemporary design. As such, referencing as many natural elements as possible led us to integrate a lot of wood into the project — referencing Benetti’s rich nautical tradition while simultaneously creating a connection to physical features on land, marine habitat, and the surrounding environment. ELEVATE: How does lighting alter the mood of the yachting experience? FERNANDO ROMERO: Clients use their boats to relax, entertain, do business and travel and they expect to have the same living experience as they do with their houses on the land. Hybrid electric propulsion and stabilizers help reduce the noise and rolling of the ship that environs a tranquil setting. We thought a lot about conscious living during the design. We knew we wanted a hybrid propulsion engine for its low impact on the environment. The organic lighting structures, not only reduce electricity use but also create a more seamless experience between the passengers and the surrounding nature. With the recent innovations of LED lighting, not only are we able to reduce the energy consumption, but LED’s can be seamlessly integrated into the architecture to ELEVATE the ambiance. “This extraordinary collaboration has seen FREE and Benetti successfully merge our collective expertise to realize a state-of-the-art superyacht, a new craft for the 21st century.” — Fernando Romero, Founder of FR-EE For more detailed information on Se77antasette and Bennetti, plese visit: benettiyachts.it. fr-ee.org

“Partnering with Italkraft for the millwork and cabinetry in our suites was a great experience. Alex and his team of engineers took a seemingly difficult design and reinvented the approach, making it a manageable modular system that aided in a more proficient install. The original integrity of the design achieved, installation schedules met, all done without affecting our budget. We are thrilled with the finished product. Their professionalism in all aspects of this challenging project surpassed expectation.” — Nathan Stock

“As it’s been said, “ the house is a machine for living, “ and the kitchen is the most functional elements of that machine. Italkraft brings a great depth of experience when it comes to creating environments that serenade the composition of space and serve the posture of their function. As a part of our extended design team, the cathexis of their art form is transcendent”. — Borges + Associates
“Our work is a continuation of many modern architectural masters that have come before us, a derivative of culture and context, “ divulges Reinaldo Borges from the internationally acclaimed practice of Borges + Associates. Elevate sits down with partners Reinaldo Borges and Alice Dahbura-Borges to discuss the avidity of responsive building and the thoughtfulness of design that embodies their vision. ELEVATE: The humanness and very ethic of design are in creating solutions that have impactful measures. What are some of the environmental challenges we are facing in the South Florida marketplace and how are you a part of that? B + A: As architectural activists and as Chairman of the A1A Miami Sea Level Rise Task Force, our primary concern is that South Florida could become ‘’water world”. Water is both a blessing and a serious deterrent to the liveability of our communities. With the rise of our Sea Level, we not only have to adapt to these climatic related stresses, but we also have to learn how to embrace them by modifying codes as a new standard. We bring a value-added approach with proactive strategies to our projects in an adaptable flexible format that’s built into the resiliency of the initial groundwork. We are also innovating concepts of what we call ‘’platform cities” which starts to envision a new way of coastal living. South Florida has the opportunity to be innovative in the way we see a future not entirely imagined. ELEVATE: How do you harness the directives of design to reflect, contribute and connect with the essential elements that enhance our overall well being? B + A: In constructing the modern home throughout coastal regions, the purposeful stride of transterior design is to create functional environments that embrace the views of sea and landscape. Lighting plays a crucial role
in harnessing the nuances of detail. We enjoy a minimalistic approach to introducing warmth into a space through the minutiae of blending textures that add a subtlety of gesture in the lightness of combined materials. Simplistic elegance is all about creating different perspectival layers of visibility to maximize the opportunities of outdoor living at various dimensions. The tiered patios that embody the surrounding property enhance the beauty of the infrastructure. ELEVATE: Recognizing that human beings are part of nature, three fundamental energies that govern our inner and outer environments are movement, transformation, and structure. How does one begin to dialogue them into the architectural balance? B + A: We enjoy the horizontality of our residences. The overhangs and cantilevers’ create a spatial experience that creates a corporeal sensation and at the same time reduce direct solar penetration. In studying the effects of natural light, we map out a tactical interior layout that cohesively works with the illumination of a space. ELEVATE: The Art of design in development is more than its physical surroundings. How do you tune in to each individualized client’s mind-body-spirit connection to an environment to emote the experience? B + A: Often at times, we design for the end user and or the home buyer, and get to study their lifestyle, personal living habits and see what their influences are. However; the mass majority of our clientele is the spec developer. Whether it be single family homes; Retail and Entertainment centers, Health and Educational Complexes, civil architecture, mixed-use high-rise developments, and luxury hotels we take into consideration the objectives of their lifestyle and the heritage of the city. We are hired to bring a layer of personality that complements the billboard of the exterior into the interior space. borgesarchitects.com

evolutionizing an industry that was once altogether utilitarian, Italkraft’s ennobled for changing the “standard” of operations and manufacturing in the field of kitchens, bathrooms, closets, wall interiors and cabinetry design. With the prestigious reputation that precedes them throughout the Florida and Latin American marketplace, the demand for delivering an exceptional product, services, and the immaculate “industry experience” they’re known for is ever expanding throughout the global arena, with the succession of their highly anticipated New York showroom in Flatiron. Tal Grunberg, Senior VP of Business Development at Italkraft disambiguates, “Its only befitting of us to have a physical presence here. We’re a progressive company with out-of-the-box thinking that’s involved in all realms of the design, install, and manufacturing process, bringing a new level of project involvement that delineates “a headache” of compartmentalized steps. We view this showroom as a co-op workspace for architects, developers, and interior designers that instigates a dialogue to explore the creative freedoms with their clientele, with the result being a true collaboration in a catered and relaxed environment amidst the tools to excel.” Monetizing the urban landscape of the Northeast region, Italkraft is strategic in understanding each markets economy and modeling them with a different price structure and a differentiated luxury product. Tal accentuates, “Each city has a deviating build momentum, some with the focus of condos, and others with high living rentals. For years, the distinguished client in New York was faced with many “No’s,” limited in their selections of purchasing a kitchen in one place, and then had to coordinate with a millwork shop to create the finishes; albeit production limitations.
Sharpening the larger compass beyond furniture creation, we help to curate the living space that is uniquely your own.” In continuing to break boundaries in the custom-build environment, Italkraft provides the resources to innovative choices of raw material selections of kitchen cabinetry, wall panels, interior doors, bathroom vanities, and closets that are manufactured in Italy with the same desired finishes, imported and installed with their trained professionals. Tal adds, “Not do we only challenge limitations, but this is a periphery in the world of luxury cabinetry. This also means that we afford the developer design liberty that no other manufacturer allows, with our control over manageability and affordability in production.” In responding to the buyer and maximizing luxury, the kitchen is the center design of “open-space” living. Italkraft has extended that motif by advising clients on congruous lines in furniture, lighting accents, flooring, window treatments, and functional art pieces that enhance the beauty of a home. “Being involved in the high-end kitchen design market both in retail and wholesale for over 15 years, there is no other company in our field that is trained with the technological proficiency and standard capacity we have to “volumize” and cornerstone the market. We herald New York with the same vision as our Miami influence, both in the exclusive single home residential and coverage of the cosmopolitan terrain. Our approach to each project is to nurture the care it deserves, from the presentation of our showrooms to the context of design and collaboration,” pronounces Grunberg. With a keen eye on for the contemporary - the summit of kitchen design and craftsmanship arrives at its New York location. See the magic of Italkraft and magnify your dreams.

“Lighting Design is an Art form blending Layers of Light with Color Temperatures and Automated Controls to enhance our natural Circadian Rhythms. When it is done properly your senses are excited and positive emotions are ELEVATED.” — Glenn Merlin Johnson

Circadian Rhythms are the natural lighting effects based on the 24-hour clocks illumination from the sun at various times of the day and the moon and stars at night. For optimal wellness, proper interior lighting is essential in matching the times of day as to not throw the system off-kilter. Daylight sensors and automation can adjust the various layers for those effects.

Architects plan a home’s directional placement based on maximizing views from inside-out, as well as evaluating the positioning of the rising and setting of the sun. As the day progresses, the natural light emitted by the sun changes in color, angle, and intensity. A circadian lighting system can be designed to mimic that progression and help to optimize focus, creativity, and productivity.
Lighting Design professionals evaluate these items as well in addition to planning all of the interior lighting effects. Adaptive Design Group Inc. has trademarked the 8 Layers of Lighting coupled with dimming and automation to maximize the overall living experiences. The ADAPTIVE MethodÂŽ is an acronym for 8 layers of light.
Exterior and Landscape elements are an extension of the interior of a home. Planned artistic lighting not only covers the aesthetics and safety in accentuating planting, pathways, and staircases but also draws the eye through the windows at night and increases security by not allowing dark hiding spots for trespassers. Motion controls, time clocks, and dimming are all critical design elements for the exterior. adaptivedg.com ELEVATE SPRING / SUMMER 2018 | ELEVATEIK.COM 79

Beyond Italy’s reputation for beautiful marble, it is also known for its impeccable craftsmanship and quality of its materials. We believe that our partnership with Italkraft and their immaculate cabinetry coupled with our first quality natural stone accentuates and balances each other beautifully, ensuring the very best in quality and design is achieved. — Vinny Tavares, Founder/Owner Aria Stone Gallery
BELLEZZA LAPIDATA SENSES OF STONE
Traceable to the early Renaissance period, marble has been engrained in Italian heritage for its prominence and stature. Not only is Italy known for being the Mecca of design, it’s also the provenance to some of the most beautiful and oldest quarries around the world. For centuries, marble has been a part of the most monumental structures and art pieces to date; to include the tomb of Pope Julius II and Michelangelo’s statue of the biblical David. Primarily sourced from the Apuan Alps in northern Tuscany, Italian Marble is a timeless component to design that embodies luxury and exquisite taste. “One prominent trend that we don’t see any signs of cooling is color. Designers are shying away from neutrals as they become more of the norm and are incorporating more vibrant colors. Specifically, a few popular natural stones that are picking up speed are a Calacatta Viola marble which has a white-hued foundation with deep burgundy tones. An Audacia, which is a quartzite out of Brazil with swathes of navy blue veins on a grey backdrop, and Tiffany White from Brazil which embodies emerald pops of colors on a white canvas. A shift away from safe white spaces and a bit more of the eccentric colors of British glamour, yet still very classy applications. These fit well in the Florida market as it brings some of the rich cultural colors into the indoors for nice harmonious transitions that are also more commonly seen in living spaces extending beyond foundations”, indicates April Graves, Vice President of Aria Stone Gallery.
As a pioneer in the industry, Aria Stone Gallery continues to push the boundaries when it comes to sourcing stone, educating, and aiding clients in defining and actualizing their design intentions. Their hand-selection process is rivaled by the uniqueness of the client experience, which holds true with their offering of the “Stone is Art”, “WorldClass Hand-Selection Program”. Founder and owner, Vinny Tavares expresses, “Our goal is to share the beauty in unearthing these divine treasures at Borghini, allowing our consumers to join us on the hunt for the next perfect piece of marble and witness Italy’s marveled creations.” Borghini is home to one of the most prestigious, and exclusive marble quarries in the world. Vinny heightens, “Everyone from celebrities to the Saudi Princess seeks out the Calacatta stone from this particular quarry as a result of producing the crème de la crème of marble. In addition to sourcing special marbles for their project, they will be immersed in the richness of history, culture, and cuisine of the region with all first-class amenities, customized to each client’s desires and wishes. From the mountain it was carved from to their home destination, the memories of this gustatory excursion are impressed upon the royalty “Aria quality” treatment we provide every time they gaze upon their completed project. There’s a story in every Aria Stone Gallery venture and we revel in sharing these moments.” To learn more; visit ariastonegallery.com/experiences/

PALLETTES OF PANACHE THE INCENDIARY OF INTERIORS BY STEVEN G.

Steven G.indd 1

“Human Luxury is enhancing the relationship between yourself and your space. To feel comfort is to be one with your environment. “ — Steven G.
ELEVATE: Do you define yourself as an artist or designer? STEVEN G.: I would say both. To design for the client, you have to have a creative mind, an artistic, professional talent that fuses their individuality with savoir-faire. ELEVATE: How did you get your start in the design world? STEVEN G.: From my early childhood, I always had a passion for art and design. I still get excited after all these years. I worked for a designer whose creativity was contagious and knowledgeable in his craft, and my zeal grew from there. ELEVATE: What part of designing is authentic to you and how do you define beauty? STEVEN G.: The old expression, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This holds true to the undertaking of each project. My team and I pride ourselves on the ability to incorporate the clients’ aspirations and style diversity.
Photos Courtesy of Steven G.
ELEVATE: What is the lifestyle of the Interiors by Steven G. consumer? STEVEN G.: There isn’t a typical lifestyle. We could have a CEO of a Fortune 500 company walk in with shorts and flip-flops, or we could have someone fly in on a private jet in designer apparel from head to toe. The one thing we do know is our client is an educated, world-savvy, and cultured individual who has an eye for distinct taste. ELEVATE: ART has become the new commodity in the exploration of architectural interior design. What is the relevance of functional design? STEVEN G.: Form and function are essential to a project, or it doesn’t work. Art to my team and I is a huge part of a concept, yet it’s such a personal part. ELEVATE: Today, architects and interior designers are becoming the new faces of fashion and lifestyle branding. Is this an inevitable movement? STEVEN G.: I feel it always has been. You dress in luxury why wouldn’t you want your home, your personal sanctuary to have the same. Now if you mean all labels, well that is the preference of the client. Not all luxury items have to be “designer.”
ELEVATE: What liberates you about design? STEVEN G.: When a developer or client says give me options or a developer says just “hit it out of the park,” I feel like a kid in a candy store. ELEVATE: Color sends a message of energy. It is what attracts and detracts. What is the one color that is a staple throughout your design process? STEVEN G.: We don’t have a staple color as we design for the client. I can say, the majority are neutrals, natural, organic hues, and monochromatic tones. ELEVATE: Do you work with art curators? STEVEN G.: We work with many artists. My team and I have designed sculptures for lobby areas with amazing artists. ELEVATE: Interiors by Steven G. prides itself on projects that convey a story and emote an experience. What is the biggest challenge between the creative processes of design versus the competitive marketing edge of design? STEVEN G.: If a project is appropriately designed to its region, the more marketable it becomes. Specific demographic areas call for a particular design that will complement the surroundings and increase the value. We have designed and furnished hundreds of unsold property that once the turn-key design was completed, the agent sold the unit. ELEVATE: Where do you see contemporary trends going in South Florida under the Mid-century modern umbrella? STEVEN G.: As it relates to mid-century modernism, the market calls for accent pieces in the contemporary setting. ELEVATE: What makes Italkraft a valued design partner and what collaborative projects have you done? STEVEN G.: Italkraft is an invaluable resource for us. Between their impeccable customer service and meeting deadlines, we collaborate on more projects together than I could list. interiorsbysteveng.com

“From the moment a client steps foot in one of our four showrooms, we listen to what their needs and desires are, guiding them through their selections. Often at times, we have clients that know what they want and others that heavily rely on us as experts to help educate them so they, in turn, can make an informed decision. We look at it this way - our client makes a long-lasting investment when they choose to renovate or build their space, so we too are investing in them.” — ERIC SCHIGIEL / PRESIDENT OPUSTONE
The application of marble enhances our everyday lives through its design versatility of lighting elements, furnishings, and accessories. In conjunction with other organic materials; such as woods and hand-wrought steel, stone harmonizes our surroundings and uplifts our spirit. President of Opustone, and Florida’s exclusive importer and distributor, Eric Schigiel shares his knowledge of rising stone trends and a mélange of rousing offerings that reflect the prestige of their brand and the precision of craftsmanship. ELEVATE: The art of buying stone is comparable to purchasing a rare diamond. Do you see a fluctuation in what a particular buyer compulsions and wishes are? ERIC SCHIGIEL: We have seen a migration from granite to quartz due to its popularity amongst first home-buyers due to its durability, while marble, precious, and gemstones are in demand for the upper-echelon market for their luxuriant qualities. These stones are primarily used for accent walls, backlit countertops, and custom-built accent pieces. ELEVATE: What is considered contemporary in the marketplace today? Eccentric colors and hues are gaining popularity. Do you see this as a new movement in the industry?
the world that instantly capture your attention, as well as your imagination. Since most of these stones occur naturally in small formats, Antolini processes them into large slabs using special resins to marinate the individual components seamlessly. The finishes are usually polished, but the complexity of our quality standards in refinishing these materials to the clients liking is what sets us apart in the industry. ELEVATE: Define the bookmatching process? ERIC SCHIGIEL: It’s great that you made mention of this methodology, considering that we see this a design relevance for the discerning buyer. Bookmatching is a term used to describe two mirror-image slabs set side-by-side, whether on the floor, wall, or countertop. The latest symmetrical mania is the use of bookmatched quartz or even 5’x10’ porcelain slabs which provide a similar look and feel at a fraction of the cost. It adds a significant statement to any room. ELEVATE: Why does Opustone enjoy collaborating on projects with Italkraft?
ERIC SCHIGIEL: At the moment, the admiration of colored slabs are increasing, especially with our exclusive Mutina line. Our Shadow Pearl and Statuary natural stone to our engineered Calacatta Majestic and Metropolis is a mainstay of timeless luxury. It’s too soon to gauge what the expectations of this new trend are.
ERIC SCHIGIEL: It’s always a refreshing experience to collaborate with a partner who’s on the cutting-edge of design and consistently pushes the envelope. Italkraft has been a partner of Opustone for the past six years. In this time frame, we have done projects from 1 Hotel to the new Italkraft showroom. We are in the midst of other joint ventures that emphasize mixed materials that interplay with our offerings in sumptuous equivalence.
ELEVATE: What are the most eloquent of stones that you proffer and their differentiation in cuts and grain that interior designers are enthusiastic about working with?
Visit one of their four showrooms Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, and their newest location, West Palm Beach.
ERIC SCHIGIEL: Taste and eloquence are subjective. However; a stone that is at the forefront of many designers is the Antolini Precioustone line. It comprises rare and exotic stones from all over

SICIS - Born from the intuition of its founder Maurizio Leo Placuzzi, Sicis has revolutionized the industry of mosaic over the years through continuous research on materials and technology. Mosaic is a language that challenges limits and forces to overcome them. Monikered, “The Art Mosaic Factory,” Sicis is one of the unique companies in the world for the flexibility of its technique and the transformation of its uses. “ Designing with elements from nature provide a well-documented feel-good experience. The color Green symbolizes the color of existentialism, nature, and energy. Water suggests purity and the source of life itself. The pattern Anacanda represents rebirth, transformation, immortality, and healing. The symbol of eternity and continual revitalization.” - Amy Tanenbaum, President of Sicis North America sicis.com

Orfeo Quagliata - Blending design with artisanship, Orfeo breathes new life into the disciplines of glass by introducing several groundbreaking techniques and pushing the limits of what this material can do. “Initially after starting out in architecture, I studied industrial and furniture design. In applying these procedures to the gesture of materials in manufacturing have helped to define my career. The organic nature of my processes in glass “fit” the vibe and style of the South Florida luxury marketplace. Working with distinguished clients and architects challenges me to build the impossible without constraints. I always see the connection with my client as a collaborative. I ask them what they like best. I’m fond of saying, sure I’m “the artist,” but it’s your house and you have to live with the piece.” orfeoq.com

“Creation for a New Beginning”
Fiona Tan - Fiona uses light and energy as a medium to reflect experiences which help to induce shifts in the viewer and the environment. In a multitude of forms, her art is a tool to inspire transformation and a state of well-being, exposing the ephemeral nature of human existence. All the artworks resemble a virtual reality achieved by combining photography, digital art, drawing, and visualization, translating the emotional experiences of the mind-body-soul connection. “Nature is a wonder for many reasons; to include its maze of sacred number associations. In everything truly beautiful, unique, and abundant you can find the principles of sacred geometry and Fibonacci numbers. I love playing with numbers, shapes, and biophilia. They all reflect one another in perfect construction and symbolize mystery and harmony in my eyes.” fionarts.com
Jennifer Scott McLaughlin - When in the presence of Jennifer Scott McLaughlin’s work, whether paintings or functional sculpture, it is quite obvious that she is in love with the complexions of the natural world. While her abstract works often contain forms inspired by terrestrial and aquatic vegetation, her functional sculptures can quite literally be a construct of the history of her surroundings. These works are often a combination of native, wild shells; naturally weathered mangrove, cypress, and buttonwood; or fossils and relics from the swamps and coastal regions of Florida, telling a tale of a journey into a seemingly unforgiving and secretive land. ldvc.co
Open-Vessel is an experiential product that merges mindfulness, sound therapy, ergonomic product design, and technology. A built-in-tablet lets you choose your experience, while you bathe in therapeutic sound frequencies, ambient grooves, and guided meditations created by a community of sound healers, meditation teachers, and musicians. Concealed speakers in nearby proximity give an omnidirectional sound that you hear and feel pulsating through your body, giving you a gustatory experience. Synchronized lighting aligns with the chakras designed to ELEVATE human performance, consciousness, and optimal health. Designed for luxury residential, hotels, and spas. “Our design is inspired by the seeds of life among other elements of nature and the universe. Creating a personal sacred space for people to meditate encouraged us to implement aspects of geometry, like the Torus, which have design logic and spiritual meanings as well. Ultimately, it all came down to creating a space that induces calm and stillness.” - Jonathan Marcoschamer, Co-Founder of Open-Vessel open-vessel.

INSIGHTFUL TASTES
EXPLORING THE DUALITY BETWEEN AFFLICTION AND COMPASSION Mark Aeling’s work is a mixture between the whimsical and the savage, channeling the psyche of the human condition and nature. At heart, Aeling is an object maker with a focus on the process, rather than the representation. After spending many years of studying the subtle nuances of form and texture, Mark discovered that his understanding of technique and materiality have a significant impact on the interpretation of a finished product. MOUTHPIECES OF SCULPTURE “A Cutting Remark” A companion to “Butterfly Kiss,” this sculpture functions as a “yang” to the Kiss’s “yin,” constructed with 1500 pairs of surgical scissors. For every positive, there’s a negative. Lips can bring many things, the soft caress of a kiss or a sharp cutting remark. “Butterfly Kiss” Inspired by a play on words, the stainless steel sculpture fulcrums 600 individual butterflies that are uniquely contoured to a specific portion of the anatomy on a 6’ full pair of lips. The narrative eludes to the collective unconscious literal to the phrase, in which the kaleidoscope of butterflies is positioned in unison to communicate the warmth of representation. Mark comments, “As a child, I was given a butterfly kiss as the blink of an eyelash touched my cheek. “ mgasculpture.com

“When we started the process of selecting furniture and other elements to make the apartment inside the 1000 museum special, I was glad to know Italkraft had developed the kitchen to work flawlessly with the Zaha Hadid design. The minimal concept of closets was tailor-made for the unit. I believe the main character is how it flows within the composition of the overall environment- casual, yet sophisticated, functional, yet discrete, beautiful and well-built.” — EDUARDO TREVISAN, Interior Design Consultant at ARTEFACTO
Sculpture by Alejandro Estrada @Piegatto
An affluential producer of enduring home furnishings, Artefacto’s design vision inside the 1000 museum residential model reflects a keen eye for the contemporary, with ingrained disciplines that pantomime the organic systems of nature and the seamless gestures of the building. Eduardo Trevisan, Project Coordinator of 1000 museum at Artefacto shares, “ 1000 museum is the benchmark of construction and design.” To execute the vision of the residential space, CEO of Artefacto, Paulo Bacchi brought in one of the most influential architects, João Armentano to accentuate the symmetrical arrangements of the building in a glissando that promenades the exterior into the interior space. “My work was meant to be “transparent,” be neutral. I was looking for something very simple; very calm. Working on this form, we would like to valorize the wonderful work of the “BIG MAESTRO “ Zaha Hadid,” shares João. The classical and Miesian aesthetics personifies a feeling of comfort, overlooking arched patio views. The softness in colours and clean lines in furniture define the mood of lighting, as to not pronounce the heights that embody the whole of the space. At the heart of Artefacto’s design approach, the fusion of art intertwines with the sensuality of textures and the simplicity of raw materials that makes a hallmark statement of uncompromised beauty. Take off into another world away with the feel of nature. “EXCELLENCE IN DESIGN IS NOT MERELY WISHFUL THINKING.” To learn more about Artefacto’s products or for interior consultations, contact eduardo@artefacto.com artefacto.com

Whether remodeling an entire room or looking to add a single upgrade, it’s important to select the best products that will last for years to come. One of the best investments you can make is in your appliances. With a vast array of choices on the market today, it is important to consider your options and select appliances that provide the features and style you want. Today’s kitchens are high-tech, colorful and all about convenience. Consider the following appliances for your next upgrade. Professional grade quality for the home: Whether you’re a budding chef or culinary maestro, now more than ever before you can enjoy the benefits of commercial grade kitchen fixtures and appliances - without them necessarily having to look that way. Approachable pro-style products are elegant and understated to integrate seamlessly with a variety of design choices, while maintaining high-powered performance and hard-working functionality. Induction cooking: Induction cooking relies on magnetic technology to heat the cookware and uses far less electricity than standard cooktops and ranges. The heating response isn’t just fast – it is instant! You can boil a pot of water in three minutes. And because induction cooking only heats the pot and the area directly under it, the surrounding area is safe to the touch even when in use. Color in unexpected places: Many homeowners keep their kitchen looking fresh and vibrant by adding a pop of color to an accent wall or by selecting colorfully coordinated dishes, pots and pans and small appliances. Building on this trend, a pop of color in a non-traditional space such as the exterior door of a range or the interior of a refrigerator is a fun and unexpected design detail. From cooking up culinary creations to storing fresh ingredients, appliance purchases are an investment in productivity. Don’t simply replace an appliance, select an option that is larger, faster and stylish enough to meet your needs for years to come. To learn more about how to incorporate these top appliance trends into your kitchen, visit your local Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery or fergusonshowrooms.com to request an appointment with a knowledgeable appliance expert.

Inspired by fashion, Bookmatching with fabrics.
Bodice Rocker Born out of a love for curvy silhouettes and illusion, the Bodice Rocker is a unique object that offers a number of fresh perspectives. Poised vertically it takes on an anthropomorphic sculptural form among its perception of curvature. It can be sized to fit ergonomically within a space, especially within a women’s closet. splinterworks.co.uk
