PARK GROVE | CORAL GABLES, FL Most clients in Miami ask for a white kitchen with flat doors, but it doesn’t always work with the style of their home. I love the design of this kitchen because by simply adding the wood framing you take an ultra-modern cabinet style and turn it into a transitional style. The textured wood accents are an elegant contrast to the high gloss lacquer. Not only is manufacturing a texture like this difficult, but integrating it next to a smooth panel door takes expertise. You can especially appreciate the craftsmanship when looking at the detail of the island panels mitered at 45 degrees.

n a den between a bantam lagoon of mangroves that stretches out over Oleta River State Park and meets Biscayne Bay, the amalgamation of Oppenheim's architectural preeminence and master developer Shlomy Alexander's nature-provoked ideology in the newly designed residence of 252 Bal Bay Drive is the rare treasure that ramifies itself off from other developments in the prized Miami Beach neighborhood. The bountifulness of lush vegetation serenades the property, just as Chad's fecund interpretation indelibly captures the essence of the retreat's serenity; thus linking over 17,000 sq. ft. of the estate's cultural landscape to the symbiosis of its natural habitat. Oren Alexander expresses, "We wanted to build a home that had a sense of belonging to the community. Imbued by Philip Johnson's, "The Glass House", outdoor sculptural gardens serve as the rudiment to the architectural composition of openness within the space and neutral woods and stone create an understated sophistication that complements the color scheme of the internationally acclaimed village. The key attributes of human luxury in architecture and design are the proportions to space and the quality of raw materials; succinctly differentiating it from a house that is lived-in to a home that moves with the way you live." At the gateway of nature’s wonder, Italkraft's nascent of musicality cascades a verdant sea of accoutrement with unfinished travertine romano flooring from the entrance way to the bottom of the 75 ft. glass-walled infinity swimming pool and intoxicating Yugoslavian oak for the ceilings, doors, kitchen cabinetry and floating staircases. The textural

ballad of luxurious millwork whispers to light's touch through retractile glass doors that diminish into Japanese courtyards surrounded by Koi ponds. "Walking barefoot in the house gives a feeling like you're walking on earth and touching heaven. Italkraft was our partner on this project. Their ability in sourcing materials, producing and installing was effortless. Just as water features in a home convey a feeling of peace, its important materiality gesture the same dimension. Italkraft delivered and everyone is blown away", shares Oren. Deeply embedded into Oppenheim's creative complexion, volumization and intimization play an integral role throughout the entirety of the property, emphasizing your front row seat to a picture window view to ambrosial atriums off the kitchen to your mirror to the ocean. Motorized doors and windows can be opened to enlarge the space or tied off for privacy in their smaller framed vignettes, each telling their own narrative that interludes between the interior and exterior. Feelings find form with the warmth of sunlight and adagio breezes in the master suite that breathes in tranquility with her and his views of the bay. Other amenities include wide closets that are open to natural light and a beautiful art gallery made for the avid collector. Oren articulates, " A home is meant to express sensations, not architecture. To borrow from the past and remake the present. 252 is one of the best designed homes I have ever seen." Romantic minimalism unfolds in every corridor, entrancing you into the magic of 252 Bal Bay Drive. RACHEL BURNS Yoo Studio Team Member Inspiration: Merve Özaslan WHY?: I love Merve’s merging collage designs as they create a sense of surprise in photography. The punch of colour and naturalism mixed with a vintage photo encourages the user to imagine a dream like story. "Natural act is composed by several collages based on the questions of the relation between nature and humanity. It is basically a critical presentation referring to the fact that each of us is part of the nature. It seeks the answer whether greed, urbanization, mechanization and detaching from the nature is favorable or coherent for human or not. In that sense natural act appears with all its colors when our emotions are paralyzed in the vital points of the cliche and dull city life." - Merve Özaslan Apply: Contrast between nature and the manufactured FUN 26 ELEVATE SPRING 2017 | ELEVATEIK.COM

He takes existing imagery and abstracts by colouring in and highlighting certain areas, giving it a different context and personal spin. "Brutalist architecture is something I have been drawn to within my work, the social and historical background to these types of buildings is intriguing. Plus, visually the bold concrete and rough textures really complement my colourful marks. In general, I feel these buildings work better in warmer climates, contrasting with large foliage. With my pastels, I wanted to give warmth back to the bold concrete." - Joe Cruz Apply: Having intersecting blocks

n international lifestyle brand and one of the most consummate design and development companies, London's Yoo Studio prevails behind the most extraordinary residential, hotel, and leisure developments to date, with a presence that spans its experience in 26 countries around the world. CoFounded in 1999 by international property entrepreneur John Hitchcox, and renowned designer, Philippe Stark, Yoo Studio's ultimate mission is to elevate and touch people's lives through conscious design. Directed by Head of Design, Mark Davison, the Yoo experience is enhanced by the proficiency of its artisans range of architects, interior and product designers that proffers a divergence of style and sophistication to suit the lifestyles of today's affluent buyer. A new partnership between the brand's, allows the expansion of offerings from Yoo to benefit from Italkraft's seamless manufacturing and sourcing of materials that brings forth a new culture of design that sharpens their footprints in various regions across the globe. "For years, we worked with many kitchen manufacturers all around the world, but we would often have to work hard to achieve a sympathetic design collaboration with most, wanting less "design", without all the latest funky gadgets. People today are less interested in the owning and display of a trophy kitchen and with the wish for it to be kept polished like a new car than for something that really works for them in the way they live their lives, something that will mature and grow with them. We not only share a strong belief in exquisite craftsmanship, we found a partner who can supply quality kitchens across our global reach and have exceptional experience in working around the world. Our collaboration will allow us to not have to keep reinventing the wheel and focus the energy on the bigger picture of the design of a project,” enunciates Mark Davison. Their first project initiates in one of the most historical and oldest cities in the Caribbean, with the launch of Yoo's and Venezuelan construction powerhouse, Grupo Zagalo's
first 121-unit boutique residences and hotel projects in the capital of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo. Ideally located at the intersection of Calle Gustavo Mejia Ricart and Calle Freddy Prestol Castillo, just moments away from the prestigious Blue Mall area, the elite can enjoy the finest shopping and culinary experiences among the likes of Cartier, Louis Vuitton and Café SBG. Antonio Segundo Imbert, co-founder of Simples Arquitectura, is the lead architect responsible for design of the tower; a stylized 14-story building with commercial spaces, that will be home to Santo Domingo’s only private landscaped rooftop. "ITALKRAFT is glad to be working with YOO Studio. We are always up for new challenges, and with YOO Studio always being at the fore of innovative design, we know they will push us to great limits to achieve a unique product fitting each one of their concepts. I think that this will be the beginning of a new era for us," contributes Raul Gutierrez. "This unified vision of our collaboration is the first on a number of projects with Italkraft, in which will benefit our aesthetics and meets the needs of the client budget. We will step carefully into realizing the greater advancements of the partnership, as with all of our projects the goal begins with a great foundation and continually improves to evolve from there. Just as Italkraft, we try whenever possible to look at any opportunity, to be more careful in what we take and what we give back through sustainable practices, philanthropic endeavors and a number of outreach programs around the world. I would not say we are angels, but we do have more weight than many designers to influence clients and local authorities to encourage them to think along these lines too, even if it might be more interesting to them as a marketing point, every little bit can help if it's done with conviction. Our strange company name {Yoo} is meant to remind us that what we do is not all about "us", " shares Mark Davison. yoo.com/designers/yoo-studio/

hadetec -the premier source for shades, shutters, and draperies, grew from a partnership between Casa & Resort and the industry's leader in kitchens, bathrooms, closets, custom cabinetry, renewable manufacturing, materiality and installation, Italkraft. With their extensive knowledge, exceptional customer care and dependability you can rely on, Shadetec, specializes in customized window designs that achieve the congruity to your interiors with signature touches that complete the look and feel of your home. For your convenience, they have three showrooms located throughout South Florida in Coral Gables, Doral, and Aventura. Their friendly staff will walk you through a gallery of selections and options that cater to your needs. Raul Gutierrez expresses, "We believe that beauty is created without compromise. Discerning the need for opulent finishes is what sets us apart." The components to dressing up windows are to provide privacy, control glare, keeping your house cool and away from harmful rays that create a true inside-outside living space. There are window treatments that work best for specific types of windows. Interior and lighting designer, Shannon Scott from RS3 Designs shares the latest trends with Elevate. "Due to the mass urbanism and the latest condo developments in South Florida, the trends in the market have been determined by form following function with contemporary build outs, higher ceilings, and larger windows. Motorized and automated systems have become user-friendly and equipped with operating features coordinated with wire free switches and sensors in the latest gadgets for remote control, radio frequency, and solar power. Sheer shades always make a room come to life and give a light feel to accentuate the space. They are great for bay windows. Sometimes the simplest of design makes all the difference. Sheer shades have the capability to block out the sunlight while letting a glimpse peek through. Roller shades provide an easy simplicity in unique fabrics and textures, giving you options on opacity levels, meaning the amount of light transparency you let in. For sleeping and watching a movie, black out shades are essential in regulating blinding light. With new homes, it's about being in tune with your views and the environment, catering to your lifestyle. Exterior shades give an unhindered view, adding privacy and comfort. They also muffle out noise, provide insect and dust control and help protect your millwork and furnishings from the brutal sunlight in South Florida." No matter your window pleasures, Shadetec products range from motorized and manual roller shades and custom drapes, plantation shutters, specialty shades, exterior shades and more -catering to a client's personal needs from volume hospitality projects to luxury single family homes. shadetecmiami.com 32 ELEVATE SPRING 2017 | ELEVATEIK.COM

"We believe lighting is the single most important element in a home. Entire environments and moods can be achieved with lighting alone. It’s important to use artificial light in a way that benefits from the home’s natural light to create a perfect symphony for the desired mood at the appropriate time." - Luis Blanco
ELEVATE: Lighting is one of the most strategic components in enhancing a space, what are the differences in illumination in decorative lighting? (accent, general and task) PL: Illumination can convey different moods and settings, which is the reason it’s such an important part of any design. As we all know, the world of lighting has changed significantly in the past few years. With the creation of the LED, light appearance and functionality is now more important than ever. Selecting adequate light for any room is essential, from the color temperature to the emission of the light and the amount of light that fixture delivers in color rendition. (CRI) We can drastically make changes to a room with different options of light, without making changes to existing furniture, wallpaper or decorative accessories.- i.e., Task lighting in a kitchen or working space should be whiter on the Kelvin color temperature scale 4000k. The white light allows the eyes to maintain focus on a task without getting our vision tired, and keeps us more alert.
Photos Courtesy of RS3 Designs
RS3 DESIGNS: They're several differences in illumination regarding decorative lighting. Accent, general, and task lighting all have its own purposes and character. Accent, would be the most decorative. Its main purpose is to enhance a space with either the physicality of the light fixture, or the soft, "accentual" light/glow the fixture distributes. General lighting, AKA, 'architectural lighting' many of times are some of our favorite. Despite, its mundane "general" name, recent architectural lighting can be absolutely beautiful even though they are just intended for general lighting throughout a residential or commercial space. i.e. From the recessed lights in kitchens to bathrooms, foyer to lobbies, restaurants and offices. Task lighting is a given for commercial kitchens, offices and healthcare facilities. Luckily for us designers, task lighting is now also a lot more aesthetically pleasing to the eye than it was a few years ago.
ELEVATE: What defines a lighting specialist? PL: A lighting specialist (which sometimes is the wrong terminology), is more like a lighting designer - someone who understands the needs of the client and understands the use of the space, and helps the designer, client or consumer achieve a complete use of the space. RS3 DESIGNS: In my opinion a lighting specialist is someone who has the ability and knowledge to combine the perfect balance between functional lighting and aesthetically pleasing fixture selections that omit to the overall design intent of the project. For example, there is nothing more beautifying than the perfect combination of mood lighting in an intimate restaurant/ lounge with just the right amount of light for one to still enjoy their food, drinks and company. ELEVATE: How did a partnership initiate between Planet Lighting and RS3 designs? PL: Since I first met partners, Shannon Scott and Raymond Jimenez, I was impressed by their understanding of the important role that lighting plays in design, and how they incorporate lighting as an integral part of their designs to create that “WOW” effect into their projects. Together, we have done some amazing residential and commercial projects where lighting has taken the entire design to the next level. RS3 DESIGNS: We've have had the pleasure of working with Planet lighting before RS3 was founded in 2010 when Raymond and I worked together in a previous high-end residential design firm located in Miami, Florida. Customer service and on-line support combined with their vast comprehension of product knowledge and product technicalities, with a keen awareness on innovation in the marketplace places them in a distinctive class all by themselves. Once RS3 Designs was launched, we worked with them immediately.
"Natural light is a luxury, we don't normally have. We tend to depend heavily on artificial lighting. In a pre-construction build out for residential, an architect would normally tend to position the building/ residence in a direction that would best benefit the home's best natural day light possible. Many design professionals refer to this light as 'North Light' which is the best natural day light for a studio, kitchen, pool deck, etc. Unfortunately, not very many hotels have this luxury since they are usually located in metropolises and urban communities where natural daylight is scarce from all angles." - Shannon Scott rs3designs.com planetlighting.net

RENEWED VITALITY Placing health and wellness at the center of design

“I have always looked at the environment as an extension of people rather than as a separate entity. Wellness real estate recognizes this connection and removes the division between humans and the environment and between nature and nurture.” –Deepak Chopra
ELEVATE gets a personal introspection on biological living spaces and the unparalleled wellness experience for homebuyers at Muse Residences with the pioneer of Wellness Real Estate™, Delos and well-renowned integrative health advocate and author, Dr. Deepak Chopra "People are increasingly prioritizing their health and wellness within every aspect of their lives. As a growing body of research continues to demonstrate the profound impact indoor spaces can have on our health and wellness, it is becoming increasingly important to focus on designing residences that support occupant health in the built environment as a tool to promote biological sustainability. From the quality of the air in a space to the amount of daylight entering, there are many designs, construction, and operation decisions that can contribute to a person’s health and wellness", asseverates CEO of Delos, Paul Scialla. ELEVATE: Define what "human luxury" means throughout a biological living space. PAUL SCIALLA: Our greatest luxury in life is health. A healthy residence is one that supports all areas of its residents’ wellbeing through features that are designed to improve the dimensions of wellness from mood and productivity to fitness and nutrition. To help increase health and wellness in a household, we’ve focused on four core wellness principles specifically relating to this project – air, water, light, and sleep –through features like air purification and circadian lighting. ELEVATE: How are each of these elements integrated into the environment? PAUL SCIALLA: By incorporating advanced indoor lighting techniques, i.e., the residences will promote alignment with the
56 ELEVATE SPRING 2017 | ELEVATEIK.COM
body's natural circadian rhythm, helping to improve energy, mood, productivity, and sleep quality by providing cues to keep our sleep - wake cycle aligned each day. Additionally, advanced air filtration methodologies will be used to reduce allergens, toxins, pathogens, pollen and other pollutants from the air, while water filtration will be incorporated to achieve nationally-recognized water quality standards. ELEVATE: Can you share the color selections that were used and why? PAUL SCIALLA: For this project, Deepak Chopra will be choosing wall colours and furniture fixtures and finishes utilizing natural colours, as Deepak is a firm believer that residences that are in harmony with nature can help to create harmony within our bodies and minds. ELEVATE: With the leading brand for kitchens, bathrooms and cabinetry; in which custom designs, sources materials (acoustic elements) three years before their readily available in the industry and has a pulse on renewable manufacturing, what was the synergy in working with Italkraft to design the kitchens and bathrooms inside the Muse development project with developer, PMG? PAUL SCIALLA: Italkraft believes that human interaction throughout the International design community helps to enrich the lives of others. This vision goes hand-in-hand with what Delos, PMG and myself are creating at Muse Residences. Collaborating with a brand that encompasses such a creative style was the perfect fit for this project. Together, we are creating innovative, beautifully-designed homes to help residents live healthier, happier and more balanced lives. LIVE THE LIFE YOU DESIRE museresidences.com delos.com
EOS water ionizers work by utilizing an alkaline water filter system to produce ionized water, a POWERFUL antioxidant that can reduce what scientists call oxidative stress – the measurement of free radicals in our bodies that can spread around and damage our cells. High levels of oxidation stress are connected to virtually every illness and disease we face as humans. Our water filtration systems can turn dangerous, acidic water into alkaline ionized water, which is the healthiest drinking water you can put into your body! These are some benefits of drinking alkaline water: 1) It provides your body with plenty of oxygen, which converts into energy. 2) It neutralizes acidic waste in your body which can be damaging to your cells and tissues 3) It is a natural detoxifier 4) It hydrates your body three times more effectively than tap or bottled water

Capitalizing on an enterprise of style and sophistication, the leading Italian furnishings manufacturer envisaged their destiny when establishing itself in the Italian Lombardy region of Brianza in 1970. With tacit market demands broadening the horizons of the company and the efficacious desires of their clients, Poliform inaugurated their oeuvre of sofas and armchairs in '2006. Priding itself on the execution of tailored detail, from the alignment of wood's grain to clean lines in upholstery is what uniquely defines Poliform as a quintessential trailblazer. Rei Kawakubo / Comme des Garçons ART of the In - Between
T
he Spring '2017 exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art celebrates the work of Rei Kawakubo, Founder of the brand Comme des Garcons. Rei's work is noted for the exploration of monochromatic styles and Deconstructivism. Inspired by the "simplicity and spaciousness" of Le Corbusier, the retrospective will examine her fascination with interstitiality - the spaces between objectivity and subjectivity and the unconventional notions of beauty. This is the first time since the Yves St. Laurent exposition in 1983, that The Costume Institute pays tribute to a living designer's legacy of this magnitude. Director and CEO of the Met, Thomas P. Campbell shares, "In blurring the art/fashion divide, Kawakubo asks us to think differently about clothing. Curator Andrew Bolton will explore work that often looks like sculpture in an exhibition that will challenge our ideas about fashion's role in contemporary culture. " “Rei Kawakubo is one of the most important and influential designers of the past 40 years,” said Andrew Bolton, Curator in Charge of The Costume Institute. “By inviting us to rethink fashion as a site of constant creation, recreation, and hybridity, she has defined the aesthetics of our time.” Rei Kawakubo notes, “I have always pursued a new way of thinking about design...by denying established values, conventions, and what is generally accepted as the norm. And the modes of expression that have always been most important to me are fusion...imbalance... unfinished... elimination...and absence of intent.”

The exhibition will feature approximately 120 examples of Kawakubo’s womenswear designs for Comme des Garçons, dating from her first Paris runway show in 1981 to her most recent collection, organized thematically rather than chronologically. By situating her designs within and between dualities such as East/West, male/female, and past/present, Kawakubo not only challenges the rigidity and artificiality of such binaries, but also resolves and dissolves them. To reflect this, mannequins will be arranged at eye level with no physical barriers, thereby dissolving the usual distance between objects on display and museum visitors.
Presented in the Museum’s Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Exhibition Hall on the second floor on view from May 4 through September 4, 2017 metmuseum.org/ ReiKawakubo #MetKawakubo #CostumeInstitute #MetGala In celebration of the opening, The Met's Costume Institute Benefit, also known as The Met Gala, will take place on Monday, May 1, 2017. The evening’s co-chairs will be Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour. Rei Kawakubo will serve as Honorary Chair. The event is The Costume Institute’s main source of annual funding for exhibitions, publications, acquisitions, and capital improvements. A publication, authored by Andrew Bolton and designed by Fabien Baron, will accompany the exhibition. It will be published by The Metropolitan Museum of Art and distributed by Yale University Press.

A
s we try to ferret out the subjectivity of domesticated scraps placed in angular anatomical precision, the lightheartedness of rich pinks, blues and purples gesticulate mementos of joy, while the abstract components and wear of these materials demonstrate the struggles and tribulations of home existence forever encapsulated in time. From spray paint on found objects to hand-dyed fabrics, glass, metals, discarded bunk beds and a truck cap, Sarah depicts the unrest of growing up from a child bird's eye view of the social and environmental climate of the world to young adulthood decisions and the notions of family. Upstate New York and Massachusetts -based, Braman's artistry uses the juxtaposition of ordinary things in the architectural symmetry of colors and shadows that have the viewer scoping her creations through cavernous eyes. Hosted by Mitchell-Innes & Nash, YOU ARE EVERYTHING is Sarah's first solo exhibition in New York City in five years. "Art cares little for language or boundary, for class or privilege, for erudition; she speaks to all who care to listen. At times, her soul is laid bare by her master; at others, she pleads for a garment of mystery. Still, Art is a mistress fearless of time: Lovers covet her more with age and pledge their oaths to ensure she outlives them. So beloved, Art's sole care is to honor her birth: to never stray from her creator's vision of Truth. No other form of human expression challenges Art in her power to provoke our senses." - anonymous miandn.com

ELEVATE: Why would someone want to purchase their own plane rather than belong to a membership program that other aviation companies proffer? BRANDON ABBEY: There are two conclusions that lead a perspective owner to purchase. The obvious reason is purely economical. If a client is already paying for nearly 100 or more hours a year a charter, the math justifies the means with serious peruse to ownership. Others opt to buy due to the lure of privacy and the accomplishment one feels to entertain their life's goal. Ancillary benefits are not available through chartering, being tax depreciation, knowing your own crew members, personalizing your aircraft, the freedom of flying when the client wants to and pride in ownership makes the choice to buy more appealing to many.
Brandon M. Abbey | Michael McCaluey
ELEVATE: Is it essential to understand the mission of the aircrafts use, the range of the distance, and the technology of the aircraft, in which define the needs of the buyer? BRANDON ABBEY: The first conversation commences with the client's anticipation of usage, where he/she envisions traveling to and from, the amount of seating and luggage space they require and if non-stop arrival is a necessary requirement. Once these parameters are clearly defined, we can then identify if a Light, Mid or Heavy size and more specifically, what model private aircraft is best suited to their needs. ELEVATE: How does one go about obtaining a budget for purchase? BRANDON ABBEY: Once model options have been discussed and decided upon, we provide our clients with a customized annual pro forma budget based upon their anticipated usage. Our personalized assessment includes forecasts that consider fuel, crew, maintenance, insurance, required subscriptions and hangaring the aircraft. ELEVATE: What are the major differences in electing to operate the aircraft in a Part 91{Non-commercial}or Part 135{Commercial} to offset the fixed cost of ownership? BRANDON ABBEY: Aircrafts are operated either purely private or a mix of private and commercial usage. An aircraft that is utilized solely for the owner's business or personal usage is managed and operated in compliance with FAA Part 91. Corporate aircrafts are also capable of producing a revenue stream to offset the cost of ownership through
chartering. In these circumstances, an aircraft managed and operated under a more restrictive section of the FAA is known as Part 135. This option allows owners who may not need the plane to be on standby, lighter usage of the plane and prefer to offset some of the fixed costs associated with ownership. ELEVATE: What are some of the tax advantages that a buyer can obtain? (depreciation?) BRANDON ABBEY: There are considerable tax advantages to owning an aircraft; our expert's present options for each customer on an individual basis. The cornerstone is if the aircraft is not used to generate revenue, its depreciable over five years, while if the aircraft is used for mixed personal and to generate revenue, its depreciable over seven years. If owned by your business, you're entitled to Modified Accelerated Cost Recovery system (MACRS) depreciation. ELEVATE: How does one determine the resale value of an aircraft? BRANDON ABBEY: It's necessary to look past their beauty and complexity when it's distilled down, the truth is, aircrafts are a commodity. We are able to identify an aircrafts specific value based on a blend of the model, age, time on the aircraft, options, condition and recent trades. ELEVATE: What are some of the services a potential owner can obtain at Blackbird Aero? BRANDON ABBEY: We offer consultation and procurement services to ensure acquisition of correct make and model to fit your needs, and then assist throughout the entire transaction to ownership. We advise on structuring your ownership, ensuring your position is as advantageous as possible considering taxation and liability. After the sale, we are a personalized full-service aircraft management company that provides and manages pilots with their training, organizes maintenance, procures insurance and keeps your aircraft and it's recorded compliance with FAA and manufacturer's requirements. Palm and Avocado Salad The Heart of Palm and Avocado Salad, a staple menu item at River Yacht Club, is a refreshing and flavor-filled dish composed of fresh and locally sourced ingredients and drizzled with a lemon chili oil for added zest. RYC’s signature cocktail “The Noble Gesture” is nothing short of that. This sweet and savory drink made with Casa Noble Reposado, combined with strawberries, basil and lime surely lives up to its name.

River Yacht Club’s modern design, which pays homage to land and sea, is seamlessly integrated into the restored Mediterranean amphitheater-inspired courtyard that surrounds it. Simple, unexpected and sophisticated maritime touches throughout the venue preserve the boating culture that defines its DNA. The restaurant's subtle design referenced features include color palette, materials, ornamental details and other visual nods to the immediate environment. With a venue that’s large in size, the focus was to create multiple alcoves that emanate coziness and intimacy without sacrificing the expansiveness of the open space. General Manager Amin Noorzai conveys, “River Yacht Club has become a dining destination known for bringing innovative and fresh concepts to the Miami culinary scene that attracts guests of all ages, particularly millennials. The latest restaurant concept, Dashi, combined with our inhouse boutique and weekly energizing programming such as Jazz on the River and the Table have provided young professionals, food connoisseurs, boating enthusiasts and tastemakers alike, a unique environment to get their fix of seafood-centric fare.” "Marrying the elements of land and sea, we’ve created this unique environment by juxtaposing earthy tones and vegetation with nautical materials like copper and brass. In highlighting the venue’s historic nuances, we’ve repurposed most of the elements we found here like pavers, raw iron gates, and décor motifs." - Jackie Rodriguez, Dupoux Partners' studio director The landscape design is the work of internationally renowned landscape architect, Raymond Jungles, whose outdoor creations have restored nature’s balance to such landmarks as New World Symphony and Lincoln Road Mall. “Our intent with this project was to create a natural habitat for the locals,” said Jungles. “We see birds and humans interacting and enjoying nature. Through RYC we are advancing the landscape we have developed for the river.” Located on the rooftop terrace is the YachtLife lounge in which boasts exquisite mixology and unwinding options set against the backdrop of Miami’s most inspiring views. YachtLife members are granted preferred reservations and docking privileges plus access to club events and a beautiful gallery featuring a wide range of visual arts curated by Alvaro Perez Miranda and sculptural art from Jean Pierre Botella (JPB) Art Gallery from Saint Tropez. To elevate an innovative and creative approach to the restaurant’s epicurean profile, River Yacht Club’s culinary ideology revolves around its seasonally driven menus executed by a stellar roster of rotating, in-residence chefs. To commence the revolving chef concept, River Yacht Club commissioned Chef Jeff Pfeiffer to design the Spring Menu as a light, fresh fare to complement the season. "Spring is one of my favorite seasons to cook because of the bounty of its fruits and vegetables that begin to culminate," said Chef Pfeiffer. "My inspiration as with most of my menus, is health and vibrant flavor. Cooking simply and cleanly, keeping flavors bright and fresh keeps the body feeling good going into the seasons when the sun starts coming back with force." GALE SOUTH BEACH & REGENT COCKTAIL CLUB For over seven decades, Gale South Beach has stood as an emblem of timeless style and sophistication since it was originally erected in 1941 by L. Murray Dixon. Moniker, "Mr. Miami", Dixon was one of the most prolific architects of his time for the attribution of Art Deco and Miami Modernism. Separated by two sister properties, it wasn't until 1964 that the modernizations of Dixon permanently linked the Gale Hotel and the Regent Hotel by bridge and has earned the estate recognition in the National Register of Historic Places. In recently past decades, luxury resorts and beach clubs began to inundate Miami Beach's cultural scene and the once burgeoning realty was soon becoming evanescent. Menin Hospitality joined forces with development team Crescent Heights and architects ADD, inc. to revive the glamour of the treasured 40s landmark that lines with the heritage of the Gale's appeal on the South Beach strip that's adorned by locals and worldly patrons alike. Eponymous of the era's vogue, LDV Hospitality's Regent Cocktail Club nestled away inside the Gale South Beach is one of the most stately lounges, nightly drawing in the cocktail enthusiast, cigar aficionado and the elite for its simplicity and elegance. Seating at the prestigious literary salon proffers cocktail culture at its best, while the opulence of rich mahogany couches and chairs lend to more quiet conversation in the nostalgic dimmed-lit space. Choose your select cocktail of choice from their extensive ten-page menu or the bulletin display of daily specials. An eclectic mix of New Orleans style jazz sets the mood for an enchanting evening.
