Claire is currently completing the fifth and final year of her Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of International Studies. She works as a legal assistant and also enjoys reading and roller derby. Claire's daily coffee intake is zero, none, nothing (and no, she is not okay!). As the President, Claire's role is to be the external face of the DLSS to third parties. She corresponds with the Deakin Law Faculty, the Victorian Law Students' Society, the Law Institute of Victoria and others to advocate for the interests of Deakin law students. Claire works to support and further each of the DLSS portfolios' visions for 2022, helping to enhance the student experience at Deakin law school. Claire initially joined the DLSS with the aim of improving her own University life and was elated to find that it did give her the opportunities she had hoped for; to meet like-minded people and to be involved in the creation of initiatives benefiting the law cohort. Claire hopes to build on the hard work already begun by this year's DLSS team, to strengthen its efforts to support students transitioning back onto campus and provide transparency about this process. Claire is also excited to work collaboratively with the VicLSS to establish statewide policies regarding sexual harassment and ethical sponsorship. . CONTACT president@deakinlss.org

VICE PRESIDENT - SURINA Surina is currently completing her fourth year of a Bachelor of Laws. She is a Bunnings checkoutchick with a passion for bottomless brunches, books and the beach. Surina also consumes two to three oat milk lattes a day. Surina's role is to handle the internal affairs of the committee as a whole which involves keeping regular contact with all the portfolios, as well as organising events to support positive relations between committee members. Surina first joined the DLSS in her second year of University as she was eager to build connections with a wider variety of the law cohort. After meeting the committee on her First Year Law Camp, she was excited to get involved and make incredible friends that will continue long after she finishes her degree. Her focus for this year is to create a safe space where officers and directors are able to enjoy and be proud of the work and events they create. She hopes to ensure the foundations of a positive working environment are strongly established and reinforced throughout the year. Surina has also set a goal to refine and revise DLSS' current policies and procedures, as well as to formally establish and welcome the DLSS' first policy on Sexual Harassment.

JORDAN is in the second year of his Juris Doctor. He works full-time as a bakery-café manager, personal trainer and tutor. Jordan also enjoys horse riding, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and "much, much more!" He also admits that approximately 80% of his blood content is coffee. Jordan's role involves reporting to the Vice President and working with other portfolios on consulting around the needs of the JD cohort. He communicates to and from the DLSS on behalf of fellow JD students and collaborates with other portfolios on aspects relevant to postgraduate law studies.
Jordan initially joined the DLSS to help JD students feel more connect with the DLSS and the law student body in general. He believes that JD and LBB students have so much to offer each other, with a lot more opportunities in common than each realises. Jordan hopes to eventually see more JD students involved in other DLSS officer and director positions in the future. He aims to motivate JD students in 2022 to be more engaged with the DLSS and get the most out of their studies.
