HEAVEN arvinder and I met in March 2013 through mutual friends, and we instantly clicked. I knew Dav was the one, as soon as I started to speaking to him such a cliche! Our first date was on the 30th March 2013 in the courthouse hotel in London which was then followed by drinks at the Jewel bar. We finished off with a lovely meal at the Cinnamon club in Westminster, it was truly romantic!

When did you realise it was love and when did it dawn on you that you wanted to get married?? Well the love emerged a few months into our relationship but I knew he was the one before I had even met Dav! I knew it from our connection on the phone - gosh sounds so cheesy! I’ve always known he was the one right from the beginning. It’s amazing to have a best friend and husband in one.

I had many friends and family which travelled from Canada, India, Hong Kong and Amsterdam and it was amazing to see them all and celebrate my wedding with them. On the actual wedding day itself I would say our spectacular entrance with our 10 piece Band Baja was my favourite memory.

y bridesmaids were my old friends Charlotte Hancock, Radhika Nathwani, Rohima Begum and nieces Inderjit Tak, and Gurvinder Liddher. They each had two outfit changes. We opted for traditional churidaar suits in the morning which were a bright turquoise - my favourite colour -and for the afternoon we selected metallic grey and baby pink plain sarees but we accessorised to the max! The bridesmaids wore beautiful long pearl necklaces with matching earrings. They looked stunning! Radhika, Rohima and Charlotte have been my best pals for years now and I even lived with Radhika at university so I knew they had to be the bridesmaids. I am extremely close to my nieces and I knew they had to be bridesmaids as well.

How did the proposal happen and what was your reaction?
“It was the most dreamiest proposal ever! Dav took me away to New York in January 2014. We had the most perfect day being driven round snowy central park on a horse carriage. We then headed back to our hotel and Dav tricked me by saying that we should take a look at the roof top as it’s meant to be amazing. He then led me onto the rooftop which was empty - he had arranged it with the hotel and it was so snowy and beautiful! There was a bottle of champagne propped up on a table as well as a personal photographer - it was such a romantic setting! He then popped the question and of course I said yes!”
Describe one of your shared romantic moments...
“Ahhh there are so many! My New York proposal was probably the most romantic and it was topped off with a beautiful meal at the most romantic restaurant in New York called If one by land, two by sea. That he is very caring, completely committed to our marriage and extremely hard working. What more could a girl ask for?”

efore my wedding I had two pre wed events and a religious event. My first pre wed event on the Friday before my wedding was the “Maiyan” this is where close family and friends gather and get the bride ready for her wedding and apply traditional turmeric powder mix to “beautify” her before the wedding! We also had a sangeet two nights before the wedding where the ladies such as family and friends get together and sing and dance to traditional Punjabi songs. The night before the wedding we also had a pre party which again was just for my side of the family and we danced and celebrated my last night of freedom! We love exploring! Whether that is travelling or just experiencing new adventures, we both have very curious minds. We are both very business minded, so a lot of our topics of conversations can be focused around our next investment strategy!

e had a lavish Indian affair to say the very least! We had a gourmet menu; which consisted of seven starters, seven main courses, two desserts, New York themed cupcakes and cookies as well as Indian Chai. We had three speeches which were beautifully executed by my cousin Sandeep, my husband’s cousin Randeep and of course my husband Dav. The most memorable moment was when my cousin shared so personal insights into my life such as being the rock of my family from a young age and a strong woman because I was the only Khaira girl in my generation. Also saying that I love a good old party no matter what the occasion may be!
What was your first dance song and entertainment? It was Tujhe Dekha from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. We had so many different types of entertainment. We had a Bollywood string quartet for our drinks reception and starters. We also had stilt walkers which welcomed guests into the venue and this really gave that wow factor! We had a 10 piece traditional baja band for our entrance. We also had Ritzy DJ but the star of the show was the famous Punjabi Bhangra singer Jazzy B! Wow, what a performance! He made sure the dance floor was packed until late into the evening and he had so much energy. It truly was a spectacular performance.”
Tell us about your honeymoon “We went to Thailand first and stayed in the beautiful and luxurious Sarojin. This was a boutique beach resort and it was set against a backdrop of lush greenland and a private beach. We had our own private pool and butler service. The attention to detail at the Sarojin was second to none and the surroundings were very lavish. We stayed here for seven nights and then our next adventure was Hong Kong! Hong Kong was truly amazing and we enjoyed so much sightseeing. We stayed in the Harbour Grand hotel and it was steps away from the Victoria Harbour, showcasing Hong Kong’s magnificent cityscape as a backdrop.”

his couple certainly don’t do things by halves. From three dresses and three ceremonies to the entertainment booked for their wedding day(s!) extravaganza. “My friends surprised us with a video about us - which was amazing and Bhav’s family also surprised us with a hilarious song and dance performance of “Bhav and Prina style” in the tune of Gangnam Style! We also had Shiv Gopal in attendance who is a wedding DJ, specialising in playing background music whilst the ceremony is conducted. Shiv was personally one of my favourite aspects of the wedding, his music was phenomenal and perfectly timed. We didn’t have a wedding band as that’s not really our style but we found fabulous DJs, and we also had a special dhol (Indian drums) performance which lasted around 15 minutes. The DJs were great, and made sure they played all of our favourite songs, so we couldn’t have been happier with the entertainment! We had quite few speeches - the best men, my friends, my Dad and of course, the groom. They were all a combination of funny, emotionfilled and thoughtful - and I definitely shed a tear on more than one occasion. I couldn’t have wished for a better celebration.”
