In the Soviet Union,
countrysides were presented according to a family’s workplace, so a name Microbiology may not even be the oddest name for a cottage village. Spending summers in the countryside, I started creating different art-objects and crafts. Further, i would like to present two of them: Window cabin (1) and Pine installation (2).

All my childhood summers I spent in the countryside, with my brother and grandmother. That time is very important for me and, even though at some point the house remained empty, a few years ago I felt pulled back there.

The site sinks in the greenery, therefore it very calm and peaceful in there, sometimes even lonely. At some point, I have decided to transform the space a bit, soI gave a second life to a withered apple tree, by painting it red. This act led to another and thus the countryside became a kind of an art polygon for me while remaining a place of coziness and quiet.

Đ? great variety of old wooden windows and frames, that were hopelessly lying on the ground on my countryside urged me to create a pavilion, a small house, the entire core of which would be constructed of unique old windows. It took a while, but approximately 30m2 of the windows surface were collected, then thoroughly listed, analyzed by its toughness, and finally, a project was digitally modelled.

Cleaning up the countryside I have collected a lot of pinecones. A pinecone is a wonderful example of a tectonic natural structure, and it was simply impossible to dispose of a box full of those, so together with my friend Viktoriya we completed a tiny workshop by designing the structure and hanging these cones. At first was created a 3d model and then, using listed parameters, we created a small pavilion using a host metal grid, fishing line and pinecones itself.

Kemeri is a national park in Latvia, close to Riga. One of Kemeri’s
centers of attraction is its bog, a beautiful and unique environ with its own flora and fauna. A lot of people visit Kemeri annually, so two renovation concerned competitions were launched this year: a new entrance area with a visitor center (1) and an observation tower (2). The charm of the place motivated me to complete both competitions’ projects.

On the invisible border between the road to Kemeri and the park itself stands the visitor center. Before crossing the border it is a plain simple house, inspired by the Latvian vernacular buildings (1), but after crossing the border, the house melts (2), morphs its form and function, starts letting in the skylight - all under the influence of nature.

One of the most important priorities for the observation tower is its accessibility, so all stairs must be converted to ramps (1), proportionally long to the height of the observation tower. This and the idea of accumulation curiosity to observe Kemeri from the height, led to the creation of a long, dark, ascetic even path to the top (2), slowly opening the skyline above, and then granting a visitor with a wonderful view of the Kemeri bog.

Irkutsk cultural quarter
N
Irkutsk, Russia
In the very center of Irkutsk, adjacent to the main historical city square, there
is an industrial site, which houses old and currently unused heating station with a gigantic smokestack. In 2017, an architectural redevelopment competition was hosted. The programme consisted of a very dense amount of residential houses, a music hall and a trading center. After analyzing the territory and visiting the site, I decided to interpret it slightly different and create a city cultural quarter.
23.
concept scheme + photos
Since the 17th century the site had been a center of Irkutsk: the main marketplace was located here and the whole area was crowded with merchants, buyers, poor people and even trained bears. There was an enormous Kazan cathedral on the square, and a few other churches. Since the 20th century, the site has been getting to an anabiosis state it is now in: the cathedral was blown up by soviet government, a huge heating station was erected, and a brutal town hall took the cathedral’s place and the site stopped being a center of attention.
1
This industrial site (1) is located along the Angara river and it splits the embankment in two. The urbanistic idea of the project is to bring it together and create a new city center, reflective to the present one which is located down by the river and is not a cultural, but rather a commercial one (2).

inside
By this provoking project, I want an observer to learn to think critically, I want their thought to fly further than a visual impression. Giant, brutal and rusted form will at first make an observer nervous, and probably will make him reject it, but then, the what wonderful, that hides inside this immense ship stuck in ices, the vital and exalted music, the violin’s creaks and besotted pianos, will become a complete contradiction to what has been seen outside. A view will become other. Some will enlighten, some will remain unpleased. No one will remain indifferent.

Sketches Nature and architecture
Thinking with doodles on a piece of paper was my
daily routine since childhood, and was not the last reason for choosing the profession of architect. I am very grateful to the professors of the Moscow Architectural Institute for their diligence and zeal, with which they taught us the skill and the importance of a sketch.

Photos Places and things
Importance of the photography, in my opinion, is not only in the ability
to save the moment but also in the ability to see the beauty in the habitual things that surround us. Even though architecture is my true passion, i prefer to take photos of nature.

Letter of intent
Education at the Moscow Architectural Institute is my first and most important step into the world of architecture, and even though tributes to traditions and realism of the educational design tasks are very valuable and necessary qualities that my alma-mater holds, I would like to pass the second part of my education in the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. I believe that this university, especially Kazuo Sejima Studio, will bring me the new experience and teach me a different, more conceptual and untrivial perception of the design process and architecture itself. As far as I am concerned, I will try to bring something new and useful from my side. Japanese Internship experience also taught me that in an unfamiliar country in a new society I tend to become more efficient, mature and responsible. After my first attempt to apply to the studio this spring, I consulted with studio’s assistants and received very useful and topical comments. Hopefully, my new work will seem fit and professional enough for my acceptance to the studio.
