C
ancun, resting on the northeast corner of the Yucatan Peninsula in the state of Quintana Roo, was a part of the ancient Mayan civilization and is still considered
as a gateway to the Mayan World. Due to its near perfect weather, natural beauty, and easy accessibility, Cancun emerged as the best touristic resource. What was once a remote and tiny fishing village of just 12 families has turned into the ideal Mexican vacation spot. If you are a sports enthusiast, Cancun will not disappoint. It boasts great golf
courses, incredible coral reefs for snorkeling and scuba diving, sport-fishing, and jungle tours. And if you want to soak up some sun, you can sprawl out on the white-sand beaches surrounded by the clear blue Caribbean water. During 2016, Cancun has been one of the favorite places for meeting tourism, competing with places like Singapore, Las Vegas, and London. Becoming Mexico’s tourist capital and one of the world's top destinations with leading hotels and resorts, great infrastructure, and the amenities to support millions of annual visitors. Cancun is one of Mexico’s top leaders in international meetings with over 34,000 hotel rooms, 1,647,800
square feet of event space, and 30 hotels that specialize in accommodating groups and events. Cancun Center is Cancun’s largest venue with 151,940 square feet of event space located in the center of the hotel zone. Besides its more than 154,000 m² of event space in hotels, wide air connectivity, and top level for tourist services, Cancun is one of the destinations with the most modern technical support in the country for events of any magnitude, from a small wedding, an international congress, or even concerts of more than 15,000 attendees. Due to this and much more it’s no wonder why Cancun has been awarded again as the most important place for congress and convention events in Latin America, during the World Meetings Forum 2015.
T
he Riviera Maya extends along the Caribbean coast of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula from Puerto Morelos to the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve. Once home to small
fishing villages, the Riviera Maya coastline has since been developed into a modern tourist corridor offering the very best of high-end luxury resorts, fine dining, nightlife, spa retreats, shopping, golf, and gorgeous beaches.

One more masterpiece of the Australian golf legend, Greg Norman, is El Camaleon Golf Club at the Mayakoba resort. The 7,039-yard course bends through three distinct landscapes - tropical jungle, dense mangroves, and oceanfront stretches of sand with holes bisected by massive limestone canals. The course even incorporates a cenote - an underground cavern common to the area - into the heart of the opening fairway. Norman balanced the course to make it enjoyable for golfers of all abilities; each hole is sprinkled with a minimum of five tee blocks, so there is a distance for every player. While the course is a standout, the surrounding golf amenities are equally as stunning. The handsome clubhouse rises above the 18th green and the adjoining practice facility and driving range complete a superb golf experience. In 2007, El Camaleon made history by becoming the first golf course to host an official PGA TOUR event in MĂŠxico and the first official PGA TOUR event ever contended outside of the United States or Canada. PGA TOUR professionals rave about the course every year.

The typical colorful dishes of the Mayan world are varied and include a rich mix of different flavors. In the foreground is the indigenous cuisine, with ingredients that have not changed for thousands of years (corn, beans, peppers). Chili is a staple of authentic Mayan cuisine, where it appears in all its different varieties, as an integral element of any dish.
Chicken and pork, both brought to the region by Spanish colonizers in the sixteenth century, are very popular ingredients in the Mayan World. The hunt was part of the basic diet of the Maya; and deer, rabbit, and armadillo are still in some menus of the Yucatan. Isla Mujeres Isla Mujeres was discovered by the Spaniards during an expedition led by Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba in 1517. In pre-Hispanic times the island was a worship center of Ixchel, the Mayan goddess of moon, love, and fertility. Upon arriving, the Spanish conquerors found figurines of women and thus named the island Isla Mujeres (Island of women). This island is 8 kilometers long and a half of a kilometer wide. Travel Tip: Use the Headphones On many flights, most airlines provide inflight audio entertainment. Make use of this entertainment. You can tune in classical music while you read. Classical music provides great background music to cut down on the jet noise, loud conversations, and noisy children. Depending on your tastes, airlines usually provide various types of music, spoken-word segments if you want to learn something new, and some of the world’s greatest comedians. And if you choose the latter, because laughter help relax muscles, you are not only passing the time, you are also getting some natural stress relief.
Travel Tip: Play Dr. Joyce Brothers says: “Many of us have to do business work on a trip, but don’t forget to leave time for a little dessert or something you want to do very badly.” Remember, laptop computers are great for getting work done, but they can also be used for playing a vast variety of games. And don’t forget fellow passengers - choose a game without a blaring beep. (Taken from pages 158-160) James Feldman, (a.k.a.
