The tradition is to gather together a crowd that camps in a very special and public place of the city; they share their provisions in an environment that promotes equality and friendship among the participants. The spot that hosts the picnic is totally secret until the guests arrive at the chosen place. Each participant brings his chair, tablecloth, crockery, glass bowls, cutlery, napkins, decoration for the table, candles, and drinks (wine, champagne or even water). As an important detail, everything has to be white and the participants will all be dressed in white. They should also bring along trash bags to clean up once the feast is over. Le Diner en Blanc is celebrated in more than 30 countries; about 80 cities have hosted this giant picnic.
