The tour goes deep inside an underground cave, where visitors experience true silence among some of the most dramatic mineral formations in the world. A truly uni que and natural expedition, it brings you deep into the heart of the Riviera Maya jungle to ex plore the natural beauty of ancient caves and immerse yourself in a magical underworld. Rio Secreto Plus offers a visit to the Salon de la Paz (Room of Peace) where visitors enjoy an inte ractive experience that will take them back in time. This tour includes access to the natural reserve, groups of 10 people (max.) per guide, a specialized guide, lockers, a neoprene suit (wetsuit), and life jacket, a safety helmet with lamp, towels, and a regional buffet with fresh flavored waters.

This sacred city and the birthplace of the Maya ca lendar was once one of the major centers for studying geographical, agricultural, and astro nomical phenomena. Home to great scholars, as well as the ancient elites, Chichen Itza was a religious, cultural, and administrative center with a great responsibility to the Maya people. Visitors can step into the cornerstone of Maya civilization and walk the paths of some of the greatest minds in world history. Chichen Itza (whose very name means “at the mouth of the well of the Water Wizards”) is home to one of the most beautiful ecosystems on Earth. With over 1500 species of plants and 300 spe cies of animals in the surrounding area, you can see the presence of precious woods such as mahogany and cedar. As well as friendly igua nas among others. Chichen Itza was built as a beacon for Maya civilization and its remaining structures still capture the beauty and ingenui ty of the Maya people. Visitors can walk the streets of this ancient city and observe these stone giants for themselves, like Las Monjas. Translated to, “the nuns,” Las Monjas is a se ries of overlapping structures that the first Spa niards thought resembled convents. Yet these buildings may have had more admi nistrative purposes as centers for Maya gover nment rather than religion. Still, despite their original intended use, they are just as beautiful. Chichen Itza, perhaps one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world, is at the center of the Mayan civilization. Once populated by close to 100,000 people, the ruins of the great city are admired by all and explored by many. Its functions were many from religious cere mony to administrative purposes, but its most important role was in creating the calendar that would help its agricultural community flouri sh. Scholars of Chichen Itza studied the winds, rains, and sunlight patterns so that they could accurately plant and harvest their crops. This role was vital to the city’s survival as so many occupants, especially its elite members, resided there. Visitors will also experience the fresh water of the “open cenote” with the water level about 26 meters (85 ft) below ground le vel. There is a carved stairway down to a swim ming platform. The cenote is about 60 meters (200 ft) in diameter and about 50 meters (164 ft) Theredeep.are vines which reach from the opening all the way down to the water along with small waterfalls. There are black catfish which swim in the cenote. The cenote is part of a larger com plex of a restaurant, store, changing rooms, and cottages for rent. There is also a Mayan ruin on the site. Red Bull Diving Competition Ik Kil was a stop on the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series in 2010, 2011 and 2014. With us aboard a luxury coach bus on an incredible full-day tour. Our coach will pick you up from your ho tel and you’ll enjoy a continental breakfast on the way to Chichen Itza.
