Welcome to Flying Along with the I-Bee Squad! The section of CommuniQuest where we talk about what we’ve been doing during the month. It’s our monthly journal, where you can get to know our team a little bit better. Let’s jump right into it! There’s been a lot going on in this last month, but let's start with GMITE 2021, an event that was held at the Arizona Grand Resort & Spa in Phoenix. Our Corporate Business Director, Mariana LEON shared photos of the Welcome Reception, where she had a great time with Kay JOHNSON-FRUTIGER, Joellen MESSERLI, and Laura ROBLES. Page 4

We are thrilled to reunite with the MICE industry for a few days of one on one meetings and networking opportunities. Mariana also met up with Michael Dominguez, as well as many other industry allies at the networking breakfast, during this very special event.

Flying along with the I-Bee Squad

Later in the month, we made an incredible visit to The House of Aïa, in Playa del Carmen! We appreciate their hospitality and aid in connecting us with nature. But that wasn’t the only hotel visit we made, our IVI Team also attended the reopening of Paradisus La Perla, Adults Only Hotel at Playa del Carmen last week! It was an amazing evening reconnecting with our friends and partners. Great job as usual Paradisus!

We can’t wait to start working together and to make YOU look GREAT! Page 5

We also had the pleasure to welcome Craig Dooley, President of SDI Meetings & Incentives, and his lovely family to our Mexican Caribbean. We are thrilled to hear that he enjoyed his stay at the amazing Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach Cancun All-Inclusive Spa Resort and we are looking forward to seeing him again very soon! Page 6

At the end of the month, we visited our very good friends, the Mayan community of “Muuch Kaab” (which translates to “united bees” in Mayan). They’re a group of hard-working women who live in the Ejido Juárez, Quintana Roo. Day by day, they take care of “Melipona Bees” (a very special type of bee from the Mayan region), and they also make products from its honey, such as soap, shampoo, body lotion, among many other products. To acquire some of these products, go check out our website of Dquest.shop.

Page 7

That's everything for this edition! We hope you enjoyed it, and we’ll talk to you very soon in the next edition of Flying Along with the I-Bee Squad!

Whale Watching Whale watching season in Cabo ranges from early December to mid-April, with the season peaking from late December to late January. Along with the humpback, you can spot a variety of whales during the winter months in the Sea of Cortez, including blue whales, gray whales, and Orca whales. Whales travel about 3,000 miles during a 10- to 12-month gestation period. Above the ocean, their breathtaking performance is a way of communicating with other whales, and below the surface, they produce a wide range of fascinating singing sounds. Humpback whales can reach sizes of over 50 feet in length and weigh as much as 80,000 pounds. They are perhaps the most famous whale species for breaching, which is on full display near Cabo.

Page 11

Hear the whale song through our stateof-the-art hydrophones while our Marine Mammal Specialist explains everything about these fascinating creatures. Watch as whales breach just near your boat, and take photos to last a lifetime. When it comes to Cabo San Lucas whale watching, this is the tour to top them all.

Cabo Pulmo Snorkeling Journey through the desert to the Sea of Cortez to meet up with a local boat captain who will take you to the best snorkel locations in the area. Splash into the crystal clear waters of Pulmo Bay to discover an amazing treasure—a living reef estimated to be 20,000 years old!

Be inspired as you gaze on one of the three living coral reefs of North America. Discover unique encounters and unforgettable experiences in the land of astounding beauty and remarkable charm.

Page 12

Sea of Cortez Snorkeling Adventure The trip to Isla Espiritu Santo is half the fun as you cruise the exquisite beaches and crystal blue coves teeming with marine life. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to witness the exotic marine life that freely frolics in the waters that surround you. Just as you arrive at the destination, the snorkeling adventure in the Sea of Cortez will begin. Swim and snorkel in this natural sanctuary amongst sea lions and an impressive array of brilliantly colored tropical fish, starfish, corals, and the occasional playful sea lion pups.

Page 13

Wildlife Adventure in Puerto Vallarta & Riviera Nayarit This experience—which takes place in the Bay of Banderas—is unmatched, as it is an opportunity to interact with these impressive animals in their natural state. This increases the awareness of children and adults regarding respect for flora and fauna and their preservation.

Some tours are carried out in boats that go into the bay towards the islands, where it is possible to see groups or families of dolphins jumping happily very close to the boats. You will also be able to see other species such as manta rays and majestic sea turtles, which increases the spectacular nature of the event, and will undoubtedly be one of the most fascinating and unforgettable experiences of your life. Page 14

Sea Turtles

Turtles are fascinating ancient animals that have been around for approximately 250 million years. These species have witnessed the evolution and are the brave survivors of the constant changes of the planet, are persistent memories of the times of dinosaurs that have even been called "living fossils". Every year between July and November, thousands of Parrot Turtles arrive on the shores of Puerto Vallarta looking for the ideal place to lay their eggs. During this period, the females make transcontinental trips to return to the beaches where they were born and spawn on them, while the males never return to the sand.

Page 15

Whale Watching

These gentle giants visit the Mexican coasts of Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, and the Bay of Banderas during the winter as they find here the ideal conditions for their reproduction. Males of these species sing songs that are heard underwater and in a large area outside it. The song of the whales is one of the most beautiful sounds in nature and the loudest produced by any animal. The purpose of this serenade is to attract females. Once the female approaches, the male begins to swim alongside her, brushing her body, trying to convince her that he is the one. Sometimes, this contact causes them to make jumps that lead the whales to come out almost completely out of the water, with their 40 tons of weight and almost 75 meters in length, in a truly extraordinary display of force.

Bird Watching Puerto Vallarta is a beautiful place that, in addition to hosting an immensity of species within its waters, and in its thick jungle, is also home to beautiful birds that cross its skies and can be observed at any time of the year. So if you travel to this beautiful port, do not miss the opportunity to get to know some of the more than 350 different bird species found in its various regions and ecosystems. Page 16

Mexican Caribbean

During summer, groups of the biggest sharks congregate in Caribbean waters near Cancun, and swimming next to these giants is truly an out-of-this-world thrilling adventure you will never forget.

Page 17

Page 18

Fortunately, they are harmless and peaceful as they only eat plankton and small fish. During your vacation in Cancun, you'll be able to experience the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get up close to one of these amazing creatures. When you are swimming with whale sharks there is nothing to fear. Additionally, on this adventure tour, certified staff will provide the necessary safety measures and interesting facts about these magnificent animals. These whale sharks come to Cancun between June and September and because of their size they never swim by the beach but rather in open waters. A tour guide will lead the boat to the exact location point where you will be able to get off and start this amazing experience close to whale sharks.

Page 23

Dominican Republic Approximately 6,000 species of flora and 7,000 species of fauna thrive in the DR. Among the ones to look for on this island are: • The Palmchat (Cigua Palmera), the DR’s national bird, endemic to Hispaniola Island. • The exotic Pereskia quisqueyana or Rosa de Bayahibe, the country’s national flower. It’s a rare cactus that grows leaves, and the flower itself is a delicate pink color, 100% native to the Bayahibe area.

Page 24

• The endangered American crocodile species lives and mate in Lago Enriquillo, an intriguing saltwater lake located in the southwest of the DR. • The rhinoceros iguana and the Ricord’s iguana are abundant inside the protected Lago Enriquillo park area, and in the Jaragua National Park. • The stars of our wildlife species are the nearly 3,000 humpback whales faithfully flocking to the Bay of Samaná every year to mate and give birth in our warm waters.

Page 25

The best way to experience the DR’s natural abundance is by visiting one of its national parks.

Cotubanamá National Park Also known as "Parque Nacional del Este", this is one of the most cave riddled and adventure-packed national parks in the DR—understandably one of its most visited—counting more than 500 flora species, 300 types of birds, and including long stretches of diamond white beaches on Saona and Catalina islands, along with their underwater marine life.

Page 26

Visitors can hike the land portion, accessible from Bayahíbe village, to explore a handful of the park’s caves and freshwater springs along marked trails of varying difficulty, or go birdwatching. On the coastline, snorkeling and diving sites are numerous along colorful coral reefs, and steep walls teeming with sea life. Onshore, the park’s sparkling beaches, particularly on Saona Island, is the most important turtle-nesting site in the Dominican Republic.

Page 27

Laguna Gri-Gri Located in the fishing village of Río San Juan, approximately 100 kilometers (62 miles) east of Puerto Plata, Laguna Gri-Gri is one of the country’s major bird sanctuaries, set along a peaceful lagoon flanked by thick mangroves.

Boat rides take you along this mystical lagoon at any time of day, though sunset is the best time to see egrets, and vultures soaring and chirping loudly above the mangroves as you pass through the narrow channels, eventually leading up to the sea. Daily guided boat tours of the lagoon includes a stop at "Cueva de Las Golondrinas" (Cave of the Swallows), facing a turquoise, shallow cove where you can take a swim, and end at the magical "Playa Caletón" to enjoy one of "Rio San Juan’s" blissful beaches.

Page 28

One of the most beautiful bays in the Dominican Republic, this spectacular body of water–fed by the Yuna River, the second largest in the DR–hugs the town of Santa Bárbara de Samaná on its southern end, and is the primary jump-off point for daily boat excursions into Los Haitises National Park, Cayo Levantado, and Samaná’s renowned whale watching expeditions that run from mid-January through March every year.

Samaná Bay Indeed, at least 1,500 humpback whales return to Samaná Bay to court, mate, birth, and flipper in its warm waters. Serving as a marine sanctuary, with a well-protected location and deep waters, the bay includes small mangrove cays, seagrass beds, and corals, all of which provide nutrients to the visiting humpback whales, turtles, and manatees. It’s no wonder many fought to take over this area, including the British, French, and Spanish. Aside from boat excursions, a great vantage point to admire the bay, is the walk along the waterfront Avenida Marina in Samaná, or a hike across the Bridges to Nowhere, connecting several of its mangrove cays. Page 29

Los Haitises National Park Covering an area stretching 1,600 km² (618 square miles), Los Haitises National Park is one of the crown jewels of the Dominican Republic’s national park system. Los Haitises–which translates into “hilly land” in the Taino language–attracts numerous visitors who come here by boat to see its magnificent series of 30-meter (98foot) high rock formations jutting out of the water. The park also boasts extensive mangroves along its bay, which is dotted with cays that are home to multiple bird colonies, as well as a series of caves known for having one of the highest numbers of petroglyphs and pictographs in the country. You’ll easily spot the endangered Ridgway’s Hawk, the Hispaniolan Piculet, the Hispaniolan Woodpecker, the Hispaniolan Emerald, as well as pelicans, frigate birds, herons, and many more majestic birds in flight over the park’s extensive landscape. Los Haitises also nurtures one of the DR’s few remaining rainforests, once used as a filming location for the feature film Jurassic Park. Explore the park by boat from Samaná, hike its rainforest to view flora up close, or kayak along its lush mangrove system.

One touch of nature makes the whole world kin

CUBA

Cuban fauna is abundant and varied in species. In Cuba, there are no animals or plants dangerous to human life. Here you can find the smallest bird in the world: the Zunzuncito, the largest land mammal is the Jutía Conga. There is also the Ranita de Monte Iberia, the smallest in the northern hemisphere, the Almiquí, a giant of insectivorous mammals, and the Manjuarí are living fossils. The largest amount of endemisms is located in the eastern region, specifically in Moa-Toa, which can be considered as the one with the greatest plant diversity in the Antilles. The Pico Turquino and the Costa de Maisí-Guantánamo also stand out in the region. Page 31

BIRDS OF CUBA Birds in Cuba add up to 369 wild and free-living species, which belong to 208 genera, 63 families, and 21 orders. 217 terrestrial species are registered, 69 linked to freshwaters and 83 marines. Among the endemic birds of Cuba, the Zunzuncito (Mellisuga helenae)

stands out for being the smallest bird in the world at only 6.4 cm long. For its beauty, the Tocororo (Priotelus tenuous) is the national bird of Cuba, among others.

Page 32

MAMMALS Of the terrestrial mammals that existed in Cuba at the arrival of the Spanish colonizers, the Archipelago today has 38 species: 27 bats (Chiroptera), 10 jutías (Rodentia), and the almiquí (Insectivara). The Almiquí is, without doubt, the fauna jewel of Cuba; it is considered a "living fossil". The jutías are the most characteristic mammals of Cuba. The Jutía Conga is the most terrestrial, the Antillean Manatee (Trichechus manatus manatus) has been in sharp decline due to its habit of living in shallow waters.

Reptiles Cuba has 136 species of reptiles, of which around 80% are endemic. The snakes and the majáes form another important group of reptiles with a total of 26 species, the most abundant is the Maja de Santamaría. The Cuban Crocodile, exclusive to the island, currently lives in the Zapata Cienaga. The Cuban Iguana is an endemic iguana to Cuba and is found throughout the archipelago among other reptiles in nature. Page 33

Amphibians Cuba is one of the Antillean islands with the greatest diversity of amphibians. The tiny Monte Iberia Frog stands out, it is the smallest amphibian in the northern hemisphere. The Banana Frog is the largest of the tree frogs in North America and the Caribbean. The Pygmy Frog is a small endemic frog of Cuba, considered the fourth smallest in the world.

Fish The Cuban fauna includes 57 species of freshwater fish, 22 of them endemic. El Manjuarí is a true treasure of Cuba, it is considered one of the most primitive skeletal fish, the first vertebrates on the planet. The Cuban Killi is distinguished by its colors and the charm of its movements. Among the largest fish, the Biajaca endemic species of Cuba stands out the most.

Page 34

Costa Rica

Wildlife Adventure Costa Rica is a country that houses in its small territory, about 5% of the planet's biodiversity. This natural treasure is protected by the National System of Conservation Areas, which covers 25% of the national geography. Visitors don't have to travel long distances to enjoy the majesty of the volcanoes, the Pacific and Caribbean beaches, the dry, humid, and rainy tropical forests, and the most exuberant landscapes of the jungles.

For diving enthusiasts, Costa Rica represents the ideal destination since the extensive coastline that it has on its Pacific and Caribbean coasts, together with the tropical climate, allows diving lovers to find extraordinary beauties in its depths. Once you dare to discover how fascinating our marine world is, you will understand why Costa Rica is one of the main ecotourism destinations to enjoy the exciting adventure of diving. Proof of this is the 2004 Readers' Choice award, awarded by Rodale's Scuba Diving Magazine to the Costa Rican Pacific Coast as one of the 5 best destinations in the world for advanced diving. Page 35

Bird Watching Costa Rica is among the most recognized bird hosting countries, but the interest of the people has increased dramatically in recent years, due to the great diversity of birds that the country has. With almost 850 species of birds - more than in all of North America - concentrated in an area of just 50 thousand square kilometers, it is easy to understand the enthusiasm for these creatures that one can find in Costa Rica.

Tortuguero Tortuguero is a town in the Limón province, on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. It is part of the Tortuguero National Park and sits on a jungle-covered sandbar. On these beaches, green turtles find an ideal place to dig their nests. The Sea Turtle Conservancy has a research and tourism center here, displaying material related to turtles. The park's freshwater canals, swamps, and forests are home to animals such as jaguars, tapirs, and manatees. Page 36

Whale Watching

The park is named after the humpback whales that migrate to the region between August and November (north from Antarctica) and December through April (south from Alaska), each year. With the migration of whales almost all year round it is a great place for whale watching. The area was declared a national park in 1989 to protect the creatures that migrated here for breeding and feeding animals. Even the area is shaped like a whale's tail if you look at it from above! The Marino Ballena National Park extends over 110 hectares of land and 5,375 hectares of sea. There are approximately 85 endemic species in the waters of this area.
