Ivoclar Vivadent Introduces Astrobrush ® Innovative System Achieves Lustrous Results Without Paste Amherst, NY (January 5, 2009) – Ivoclar Vivadent is pleased to introduce Astrobrush®, an innovative polishing system that achieves high gloss, lustrous polishing without the use of polishing paste. Indicated for high gloss polishing of restorations fabricated from composites, compomers, and glass ionomer restorations, Astrobrush ideally complements the user-friendly and proven Astropol® finishing and polishing system.

The Astrobrush system incorporates three shapes of ingenious brushes (eg, small cup, large cup, and point) that contain the polishing medium silicon carbide integrated directly into their special bristle fibers. As the bristles are worn during the polishing action, fresh abrasive polishing medium is exposed on the surface. As a result, Astrobrush demonstrates consistently high polishing performance.

What’s more, the desired polishing results are achieved more efficiently using Astrobrush than with conventional polishing systems. The Astrobrush® polishing system is delivered in an assortment package that includes 5 each of the large cups, small cups, and points. Refill packages containing 6 instruments in one shape also are available.
