Outreach Programs March 31, 2021 Since 2012, Ivymount Outreach has hosted an annual in person resource fair to connect parents, families, and professionals with valuable services in the community. Given the unprecedented events of the past year, we are all adapting to a new way of doing things and even improving on the ways we used to operate. With this resource guide, we hope to continue to meet our mission to serve the community by providing resources and information to families and we are thrilled to be able to share an even greater number and wider range of organizations than in our past events. Ivymount has been a leader in the field of special education for more than 60 years by providing nationally recognized programs for children and young adults in need of specialized programs to meet their unique needs. Ivymount Outreach extends Ivymount’s exceptional services with the greater community. We offer services by highly trained Ivymount School and Maddux School staff to individuals, families and professionals. Our services include recreational, educational, and therapeutic programs, as well as, trainings and consultation across a variety of topics in the field of special education. We’ve also published several curricula and online tools to support professionals and parents. Thank you for taking the time to peruse our guide. Best Buddies in Virginia & DC impacts over 4,700 participants in 85 school Friendship chapters (elementary-college) and in our adult friendship program, Citizens. We provide integrated employment support to over 40 individuals through Best Buddies Jobs and provide selfadvocacy training to 100 young adults annually in our Leadership Development ProgramAmbassadors. Camp Inclusion

www.campinclusion.org Camp Inclusion is a summer day camp for any student with or without a cognitive, social, or physical disability. At Camp Inclusion, campers participate in many group games and sports such as soccer, kickball, and handball. Campers also participate in art s & crafts activities such as tie-dye and painting, as well as developmentally appropriate board games. Games are age appropriate and adapted for all needs. Camp Inclusion is run primarily by high school and college age students with a desire to study special education. This creates an unmatched social environment that allows students to be themselves and create bonds between other campers and counselors while in a safe, structured environment.

Center For Communication and Learning, LLC www.ccl-md.com CCL is an established speech - language private practice located in Rockville, Md. We offer a wide range of services that will enable your child to reach his/her full potential and become successful communicators at home, in school and in the community. Our Be Social Kids programs focus on helping children understand the why behind social skills. In addition to our school year groups, we offer a summer program in conjunction with Fitness For Health. CCL offers PEERS, an evidenced-based social skills intervention for adolescents with social challenges. CCL is currently providing in-person and virtual services. Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating www.crabsailing.org

Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating has been providing the thrill, freedom, and therapeutic value of learning to sail on Chesapeake Bay for the past 30 years. Thousands of guests with disabilities have received expert instruction from trained CRAB volunteer Skippers and Crew on its fleet of Beneteau First 22A's (Adaptive). New COVID-19 operating procedures for guests and volunteers have been implemented to ensure a safe and enjoyable sailing experience. CRAB provides exclusive Group Sails for nonprofits serving the disabled community and Family Sails for any family with a disabled member.


Circle of Hope Therapeutic Riding www.chtr.org

Our mission is to provide equine assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) for individuals with physical, mental, emotional and developmental disabilities to enhance their quality of life. Our EAAT program continues to support and meet the high standards set by PATH International, the national organization for equine therapy programs. Our program has served the Montgomery County community, Frederick County community, and the greater Washington, DC area for over 22 years and continues to have a beneficial impact on the lives of more than 200 people annually. The people who come to Circle of Hope represent all ages & backgrounds. The majority of our participants are between the ages of 3 and 21, some are in their 70’s. Most participants have varying degrees of cognitive, physical, behavioral, psychological or sensory disabilities.

College Living Experience (CLE) www.experiencecle.com

College Living Experience provides individualized wrap-around supports and services to college-aged students with a variety of disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, NVLD, ADHD/Executive Function challenges, learning disabilities, and other exceptionalities, in the areas of academics, social skills, independent living skills, and career development. Students live in apartments with support from CLE staff and can take college classes at a variety of educational options near each center or pursue a career. CLE has 7 locations nationwide, including: Washington, DC; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Austin, TX; Denver, CO; Monterey, CA; Costa Mesa, CA; and our newest center in Nashville, TN.

Disability Rights Maryland www.disabilityrightsmd.org We provide free legal services to Marylanders of any age with all types of disabilities who live in facilities, in the community or who are homeless. DRM’s current areas of focus include access to housing, special education, health and mental health care, transportation, juvenile justice, employment, voting, and community-based services; preventing, abuse, neglect, discrimination and other rights violations; outreach and education to empower individuals and communities, increase awareness, and support self-advocacy; and other strategies to remove barriers to equal opportunity and promote full inclusion of people with disabilities into the everyday life of our communities.

Easterseals Camp Fairlee www.CampFairlee.com Easterseals Camp Fairlee is a traditional, residential summer camp for children and adults with all types of disABILITIES providing accessible recreation and family respite to Maryland families since 1954. Sessions in 2021 vary in length from 6 to 12 days. Health Center and nurses on site. Activities include canoeing, kayaking, rock wall, zip line, horseback riding, nature trails, swimming, arts / crafts and more! Totally rebuilt in 2015 with modern climate controlled facilities. Accredited by the American Camp Association.

Improving levels of self-confidence and self-esteem by combining state-of-the-art equipment with innovative, evidence-based approaches to exercise and therapy, Fitness for Health is the premier facility for occupational therapy, physical therapy, and therapeutic exercise in the DC area. We provide an exciting and safe environment where children can develop the motivation and confidence to learn new skills and take on new challenges that will serve them for the rest of their lives. Integrated Living Opportunities www.ilonow.org

Integrated Living Opportunities (ILO) is a non-profit organization that creates communities to support adults with developmental delays and/or special needs (whom we call self-advocates). ILO’s long-term goal is to help self-advocates become more self-sufficient and to be able to live independently as members of the wider community. ILO helps develop networks of family and friends, as well as social and professional supports, that create the rich environment in which self-advocates can thrive. The communities assist and support self-advocates as they become ready to move out of their homes and make the transition to their own residences. ILO helps self-advocates acquire new skills, maintain the ones they have, and make connections in their neighborhoods so they are part of the community, not just passing through it. ILO is the only nonprofit organization in the greater Washington, DC region dedicated to helping families and adults with developmental delays and/or special needs prepare for and maintain independent living that is tailored to the needs of the self-advocate. Currently ILO serves 38 families with self-advocates, and 25 of those self-advocates already live independently. ILO facilitated their transitions into the wider community and continues to provide programs that support them.

Ivymount Endeavors ABA Services www.ivymountoutreach.org

Our programming for pre-school aged children through young adults provides supports for individuals and their families in home and community settings using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. Services include assessment and treatment of challenging behaviors and comprehensive or focused in-home programs focusing on a wide variety of functional skills. We also offer an Early Childhood Clinic for children ages 2 to 5 years old. Using evidence-based programming, we work collaboratively with families to increase communication, preschool readiness, self-care and play skills. We provide individualized, 1:1 ABA programming, as well as, structured peer play groups, integrated speech and language and OT services.

Ivymount supports diploma-bound and certificate track students through nationally-recognized, innovative and evidence-based programs that integrate academic, social and pragmatic skills curricula in classrooms with low student/teacher ratios. Participants in the MOST Program focus on developing, improving, and/or maintaining skills in the areas of self-sufficiency, community engagement, and employment planning. MyPad Leasing Program is an opportunity for people with developmental disabilities to lease their own home. JFGH is offering below-market rent to eligible applicants to help make this a reality. Personalized supports are available as part of the program including but not limited to: independent living, communication, organization skills; and socialization opportunities.

Jill's House

www.jillshouse.org Jill's House is a Christian nonprofit organization that provides families raising kids with intellectual disabilities, ages 6-22, with short-term overnight respite care. While visiting our fully accessible facility in Vienna, VA for 24-48 hour stays or our traditional camp settings through our Weekend Adventures Program, kids enjoy fun activities tailored to their interests and abilities with the support of our exceptional staff and nurses. Meanwhile, their parents get a chance to rest and recharge. We offer care for the whole family through regularly scheduled typical sibling nights, parent support groups, and family retreats. KEEN Greater DC-Baltimore provides sports and recreational activities to children, teens, and young adults with significant developmental and physical disabilities at no cost to the participant or their family. Our mission to empower youth with disabilities by providing free, non-competitive one-to-one programs of exercise, fitness and fun, led by volunteer coaches.

We work with children with motor development challenges, both physical and cognitively; and also children who need to improve their athletic skills, physical fitness, and strength training. Levine Music

www.levinemusic.org The Music Therapy program at Levine Music offers assessments, individual music therapy sessions, group classes, and adapted music lessons for individuals with unique learning needs. We welcome individuals of all ages and abilities to any of our 5 campuses and virtual learning. Our services promote growth and development as well as creative expression through individualized music interventions. We offer year round programming, including summer programming.

Little Leaves www.littleleaves.org

Little Leaves, a division of FullBloom, is a center-based ABA program for young children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder run in a preschool-like setting. It is designed for children up to age 6 who have been recommended for intensive ABA services. Each client works one-on-one with a trained behavior technician on individualized goals with a focus on social communication, social interactions, and school readiness skills. The company operates centers in Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and Florida. Little Leaves is accredited by the Behavioral Health Center of Excellence.

Main Street

www.mainstreetconnect.org Main Street’s mission is to create dynamic opportunities through affordable, inclusive housing and community engagement so people of all abilities can live their best lives. Located at 50 Monroe Place in Rockville, MD, Main Street’s apartment complex has 70 units; 75% of the units are affordable and 25% are designated for adults with special needs. The 10,000-square-foot community center on the ground floor offers social, educational, cultural and wellness opportunities for residents and for non-residents who join as members. We offer membership options for everyone and a rich array of virtual programming open to members across the U.S. Join us!


Maryland ABLE

MANSEF

www.mansef.org MANSEF represents a range of 70 state-approved special education schools offering individualized educational interventions and supports to students with special needs. These schools, located across Maryland, provide high-quality services customized to meet each student’s unique academic essentials for learning. When students are referred by the Local School Systems based upon an IEP, it results in no cost for parents. Maryland Relay www.mdrelay.org

Telecommunications Access of Maryland (TAM) is a division of Maryland Department of Disabilities and operates the Maryland Relay and Maryland Accessible Telecommunications programs. Maryland Relay is a free, public service for individuals who are Deaf, hard of hearing, DeafBlind, or speech-disabled that enables them to communicate using the telephone. The Maryland Accessible Telecommunications (MAT) program offers a wide variety of solutions and tools from amplified phones to Braille TTYs to tablets needed to independently make or receive phone calls. Melwood/Camp Accomplish www.melwood.org/recreation-programs

A key component to Melwood’s mission’s fulfillment is the support we provide to children, youth, and adults of all abilities through enriching recreational activities. The Melwood Recreation Center is a beautiful 108-acre facility located on the Nanjemoy Peninsula in rural Charles County, Maryland. With a diverse offering of lodge-style cabins, challenge courses, almost 10 miles of hiking trails, aquatic and equestrian facilities, and a variety of meeting spaces all set in a serene natural environment. It is a versatile location that can accommodate a wide range of events. The Melwood Recreation Center is located approximately one hour south of Washington, DC, and is a short, 12-mile drive west of La Plata, Maryland.
