EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Following a record year for the charter market, the 2022 charter season is proving to be even more active. After two years, where international travel was affected by covid related regulations, the appetite for vacationing abroad increased with clients looking to venture on yacht charters around the world. The 2022 winter charter season recorded robust activity and the summer season is expected to be even stronger than 2021. The purpose of this report is to provide a synopsis of the prevailing state of the charter market in 2022 and an outlook for the upcoming charter season. IYC is closely following the charter market and client trends, which are shaping the industry as a result of global events. Irini Saranti Global Marketing Director

WINTER SEASON 2022 CHARTER BOOKINGS NUMBER OF WEEKS BOOKED BY REGION
BY LOCATION Despite some remaining travel regulations the 2022 winter charter season (November 2021 to April 2022) all in all was active, with 88% of bookings taking place in the Caribbean and the Bahamas. Like every year, the majority of charters were completed by US residents. Looking ahead into the upcoming winter charter season, with appetite for travel remaining high the market is already recording bookings locations. Looking at the Global Charter Market (yachts 20m+), in terms of number of weeks booked: •
BAHAMAS: Recorded a +11% increase in charter bookings versus 2021, which was already a very strong year for the region. The area was particularly busy during the holiday months with a +26% increase in December charters. Bookings for the 2023 winter charter season are already under way. Nevertheless, following the Bahamas’ recent introduction of a 10% VAT (on top of its 4% tax), we anticipate that certain charter clients may favor the Caribbean, where in most locations there is no tax.

SOUTH PACIFIC: The area recorded a slightly stronger season, with a +9% increase in bookings. Each year bookings in the area are stable, so we expect the 2023 charter season to perform in line with previous years.

SUMMER SEASON CHARTER BOOKINGS BY LOCATION JANUARY - JUNE 2022 NUMBER OF WEEKS BOOKED BY REGION YACHTS 20M+ (SUMMER SEASON 2019 - 2020 - 2021 - 2022)
The 2022 summer charter season (May - October 2022) is expected to be stronger than 2021. Despite what may be called a turbulent macroeconomic environment, bookings in the Mediterranean (90% of total summer charters) have already surpassed 2021 levels and are expected to continue their positive trend.

EAST MEDITERRANEAN: The region with the highest demand to date, accounting for 49% of total bookings. Greece retains its position as the top charter destination globally, while Turkey also recorded increased activity this year. -
Greece: Continues its positive growth trend, with 2022 charters to date having surpassed 2021 levels by 20% and reservations for the 2023 summer season already in the books. Low rates in duty-free fuel and VAT are favoring yachting activity.
-

-
Turkey: Recorded a +36% increase in charters versus 2021, driven by the Lyra devaluation as well as activity by Russian clients.

2022 GLOBAL CHARTER FLEET OUTLOOK The global charter fleet has been growing year on year at a +6% rate. 2022 started with 1860 superyachts available to charter. The fleet has already grown to 1920 boats, recording a +3% increase. We expect this growth trend to continue during the next 12 months driven by high charter demand on both sides of the Atlantic and an active sales market. Successful charter yachts will make for attractive purchase options among buyers looking to offset yacht ownership costs due to inflation and the increase in fuel prices.
