STATE OF THE MARKET: JANUARY-DECEMBER 2024
A normalized sales market: Following a period of heightened activity, global yacht sales experienced a natural correction in 2024, with transaction volume down 19% from 2023. Demand for new and pre-owned yachts weakened, though the brokerage market remained relatively stable. Q2 showed resilience, surpassing 2019 levels, but overall sales hit a multi-year low. Despite this, the market is gradually returning to pre-pandemic norms.
Increased sales volume in the 131’-164’ (40-50m) segment: Despite weaker overall demand, this segment saw the strongest growth in market share and transactions. Yachts in this size range made up 17% of all sales, up from 11% in 2023, driven by new yacht activity. Deal volume also rose 25% year-over-year.
Decreased demand for new-build yachts: Global yacht sales have steadily declined, with new-build sales hit hardest in 2024, down 32%. Buyer hesitation and higher prices pushed some toward brokerage alternatives, where sales fell just 11%. Despite these drops, total market volume remained signifcant.
At A Glance
Selling prices remain strong: Global yacht sales totaled $6.9 billion in 2024, down 10% from $7.7 billion in 2023. The decline stemmed from lower brokerage prices due to weaker demand and more price adjustments. However, the average last asking price fell just 3% to $12.7 million, supported by sales of larger, newer yachts.
Fewer yachts entering the market: With sales declining, new yacht listings also fell, reducing supply by 11% from 2023 to 2024. Supply outpaced demand, widening the gap between listings and sales. Some owners held of listing, awaiting better conditions, while buyers found more price adjustments and potential deals in the brokerage market.
Higher value of price updates: To boost sales in a tough market, many sellers lowered prices in 2024. However, increased price adjustments had little efect on new listings or total transactions. The average reduction rose 8% to $465,000, while overall discounts remained steady at 7%.

The 131’-164’ (40-50m) size segment gained the highest market share, driven by dynamic sales with the total number of deals increasing by 1/4 in one year.

REST OF YEAR OUTLOOK
In 2024, global yacht sales hit a multi-year low, with pre-owned yachts outselling new builds. The market normalized after previous rapid growth, while prices held frm, driven by demand for 131’-164’ (40-50m) yachts. Q1 2025 is expected to match Q1 2024, with full-year sales likely exceeding 2018-2019 but staying below 2023 levels.
Despite an overall market decline, brokerage sales remained strong in 2024, supported by stable prices and growing demand for 131’-164’ (40-50m) yachts. The number of yachts for sale surpassed 2,000, with more new listings than in previous years. This trend is expected to continue in 2025, fueled by a more optimistic economic outlook, leading to increased listings and fewer price adjustments.
Over 250 new-build yachts are currently for sale, with 57% set for delivery in 2025. However, new-build listings dropped 21% from 2023 to 2024 as demand softened. Shipyards are adjusting strategies while maintaining high inventory levels, making this a prime moment for buyers to negotiate, as asking prices remain at record highs.
Following the U.S. elections in late 2024, yacht sales are expected to gain momentum. The U.S. accounted for one-third of all brokerage deals in 2024, and potential economic measures could further boost demand. While traditionally favoring smaller yachts, U.S. buyers may shift toward larger, higher-value transactions in 2025.

IN 2024, GREECE HAD THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF CHARTER WEEKS BOOKED FOLLOWED BY FRANCE
CHARTER MARKET TRENDS: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Healthy but slower activity in 2024: After a stable yet strong charter market in 2023, 2024 saw steady booking activity but at a slower pace. While the number of yachts booked remained similar, fewer weeks were reserved, reaching 91% of 2023’s total bookings. Demand declined in both winter and summer, returning to typical levels after the 2022 peak. Winter 2024 was the weakest in recent years, with a 46% drop in bookings from 2023, while summer bookings aligned with 2021 and nearly matched summer 2023.
Strong activity in the East Mediterranean continues: The East Mediterranean remained the top region, holding 45% of all bookings and 51% of summer bookings, unchanged from 2023. Greece led the market with 30% of summer bookings, seeing an 8% rise in yachts booked, reaching 500. The Western Mediterranean accounted for 46% of summer bookings, maintaining its market share from the previous peak season.
Strong start for 2025: The 2025 winter charter season is seeing a 21% rise in bookings over last year. The Carib-
bean and The Bahamas make up 82% of secured weeks, though The Bahamas has declined. Meanwhile, the South Pacifc and Southeast Asia are growing, while the Indian Ocean lags behind last season. Summer bookings are also building steadily.
Ongoing global charter fleet growth: With strong demand for charters and growing interest in remote destinations, the global feet continues to expand. Reftted and newly delivered yachts are adding fresh options with the latest innovations. Over 2,000 yachts above 66’ (20m) are now available, a 4% increase from last year. This trend aligns with IYC’s feet, the world’s largest, with 160 yachts from 66’ to 246’ (20m–75m), achieving 22% growth since January 2024.
Yachts as destinations: As competition in the charter market increases, charterers are becoming more discerning, expecting exceptional onboard experiences. Yachts must be seen as "a destination in themselves," ofering more than just luxury—they must provide an all-encompassing retreat.

The 2024 winter charter season (Nov 2023–Apr 2024) saw the lowest bookings in years. Currently, 82% of bookings are in the Caribbean and The Bahamas, though The Bahamas' share has declined while Southeast Asia’s has grown.
THE BAHAMAS: slow pace in bookings with current booking market share at 23% (vs. 34% in Winter 2024).
CARIBBEAN: remains the top winter yachting destination, making up 59% of bookings so far, up from last year.
SOUTHEAST ASIA: increased its market share compared to the 2024 winter season, nearly doubling the number of confrmed bookings from last year.
INDIAN OCEAN: very slow booking activity and reduced market share.

Entering
the cyclades cup
Join the competition, culture, and camaraderie on the Greek island of Antiparos this 12-15 June.
its second edition this June, the Cyclades Cup has quickly established itself within the Mediterranean superyacht racing circuit. The exclusive event combines competitive sailing with authentic Greek hospitality, setting it apart from traditional race events.
After a hugely successful inaugural edition last year that attracted 13 prestigious superyachts to the island of Antiparos - and with IYC returning as a Gold Sponsor - the 2025 event promises to bring even more excitement, bringing Greek heritage and industry expertise together.
What makes the Cyclades Cup unique is its philosophy, "created by owners for owners." As regatta founder and seasoned superyacht owner of 164'1" (50m) ALMYRA II, Mrs. Ilia Riga explains: "This isn't about commercial interests - it's about making people feel at home here within our islands, bringing people with similar interests together to have great fun." The owner-centric approach is refected in the race format, racing the ofcial Corinthian Class
category while encouraging owners to take the helm rather than relying on professional race crews.
Organized in collaboration with the Yacht Club of Greece, the regatta was born out of a vision to bring modern superyacht racing to Greek waters. "The combination of the Yacht Club's expertise in racing and our passion for organizing regattas made for a highly successful collaboration," adds Mrs. Riga. Last year, yachts came from around the world, from Australia and Germany to Italy and France. "Everyone came together and enjoyed some great racing full of spirit and energy," adds Mrs. Riga.
The race maintains an intimate atmosphere, remaining invitation-only for sailing yachts above 30 meters. New for this year, invites have been extended to the J class yachts. Paying homage to the competition's Greek traditions, racing categories are inspired by the names of Greek mythological fgures - Meltemi, Scythian, and Apollo - adding elements of ancient tradition to a modern competition.
As a race location, Antiparos offers steady winds and a protected bay with a stable anchorage - crucial for the superyacht community. "Even during the Meltemi winds, yachts are comfortable on anchor here," notes Mrs. Riga, highlighting the location's natural advantages. The island also serves as an ideal hub for exploring the rest of the Cyclades, with sever al of the islands accessible within a 10-mile radius.

More than just the competition, the Cyclades Cup is an event with a carefully curated social calendar of sundowners, gourmet dinners, and cultural excur sions. The 2025 edition will continue to expand these oferings, particularly cultural aspects while attracting the next generation of sailors to maintain the regatta's future legacy.
The June timing of the Cyclades Cup is strategic, providing those who attend perfect conditions before the peak Greek yachting summer season. "June ofers long days, steady winds, and fresh energy before summer begins; the atmosphere is calm, and the waters are perfect for racing," concludes Mrs. Riga.
Victory at the Cyclades Cup is cele brated with a distinctive prize and yet another feature marking the event's spirit. Winners are presented with a replica Cycladic head, crafted in white marble and inspired by the Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens.

How one Greek family's mission to restore a classic yacht while preserving their island's heritage has introduced the reimagined XIPHIAS to the charter scene… XIPHIAS is available for charter. Find out more on page 135.

Classicyachts from the 1970s often require more than just a touch-up but a complete restoration after decades of changing hands and wear. But for the Kourtesis family, the transformation project of XIPHIAS wasn't just about aesthetics but preservation, passion, legacy, and a mission to safeguard a piece of their Cycladic island's heritage.
"The boat was built by an old shipowner from Andros," the owner, a former maritime Captain, Makis Kourtesis, recalls. "My son saw her for sale, and he said, 'We cannot allow this yacht from our community to be destroyed or even to leave.'" This isn't just another story of a refreshed and revitalized charter yacht but a testament to Andros Island's history and generations of seafarers, including Mr. Kour-
tesis, among those who shaped it.
Beginning life on the drawing boards of Jon Bannenberg, XIPHIAS emerged from the French Esterel shipyard in 1974. When Mr. and Mrs. Kourtesis purchased the 108' 11" (33.2m) classic yacht at the end of 2022, they appointed the renowned Greek architect Apostolos Molindris to take on the restoration project. "We wanted to make sure we didn't change the pedigree of her design, so all changes were made on the interior," says Mr. Kourtesis. Under the guidance of Molindris -famous for reviving the legendary CHRISTINA O- each aspect was reimagined while retaining XIPHIAS' historical identity. "Keeping her original spirit and making guests feel extremely comfortable and at home were our main goals," adds Mr. Kourtesis.

It was all hands on deck to achieve such a project, with further help from Mistral Limited, the Greek and Italian workshop based in Athens. The reft project transformed numerous elements of the interior and aesthetics, including a new cabin reconfguration that now accommodates up to eight guests comfortably. These updates not only restored her identity but also improved her charter appeal. At the same time, the technical spaces, including cables and piping, were updated, and an overhaul of systems was carried out. "We rebuilt everything except the hull," notes Mr. Kourtesis. As well as an extension of the upper deck by 3' (1m), other features of her previous time were brought to light, including adding a more suitable exterior staircase for easier access in place of the former ladder.
A process that wasn't as easy as frst assumed, the reft of XIPHIAS revealed various complexities of working with such a classic design from the 1970s. "She is not square at all, but rounded in every direction, from bow to stern and top to bottom, so all of the new parts were custom-designed to ft her unique shape," Mr. Kourtesis explains.

What really sets XIPHIAS apart isn't just the restored space but the personal touches that connect her back to Andros Island. Reminiscing on the island's heritage, where once the majority of residents were seafarers, Mr. Kourtesis notes: "All my previous generations were seafarers, and many, like us, owned small plots of land for winemaking. When my father could no longer handle our vineyard, I wanted to continue his passion." After recognizing Andros lacked a local wine, Mr. Kourtesis worked to change this with the help of oenologists, improving the wine quality to bring it to market. Fast forward to today, the Kourtesis family vineyard now produces excellent wines within their 100% certifed organic winemaking and production facilities, which are served and enjoyed by guests onboard XIPHIAS.
Also found onboard the yacht are the handmade natural soaps, a product of Mrs. Kourtesis's passion. "I learned how to make handmade soaps from natural Andros ingredients, and now the proceeds of these go to our island community projects to preserve the environment and pathways here," explains Mrs. Kourtesis. The soaps serve as both a meaningful keepsake and a touch of Andros for guests to take home. "We put our heart into the reft project, so we also wanted to share other parts of our passions and our heritage with our guests onboard," adds Mr. Kourtesis.
The family's meticulous attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the yacht, from the Baccarat glassware complimented by Versace crockery to Italian linens and Yacht Club

De Monaco soft furnishings. The elegant aesthetic is further elevated by the neutral palette and teak accents used throughout, another showcase of the owner's commitment to choosing the most luxurious of details to create a timeless atmosphere.
While preserving XIPHIAS's heritage was paramount, the family ensured the yacht combined all the luxuries and extras ft for a modern charter yacht. "We wanted all areas of the boat to be much more user-friendly to clients at all times of a charter day," Mr. Kourtesis adds. Both inside and alfresco dining spaces have been redesigned, enabling various social and entertaining spaces for guests. From leisurely breakfasts on the aft deck to intimate dinners on the upper deck, each moment is catered for. Further fner details include the sophisticated new Crestron system, which integrates entertainment and comfort controls for guests to adjust from the touch of a button.
"We have almost every amenity and toy available," says Mr. Kourtesis. For a yacht of her size, XIPHIAS certainly has an exceptional array of watersports and toys on ofer, including an infatable sailboat, Jet Ski, Seabobs, infatables, and stand-up paddleboards. In addition to XIPHIAS, the family also ofers their elegant 28’ (8.5m) Chris-Craft chase boat as an option for those wanting further versatility in watersports and tender adventures.

Mr. Kourtesis's professional captaincy background additionally infuenced the breadth of technical and safety upgrades of XIPHIAS. "She complies with the most stringent and modern safety features within the industry; we updated all her safety equipment, integrated remotely monitored alarms and sensors in the machinery and electronics, brand new navigational equipment, as well as new zero speed stabilizers, a bow thruster, and new generators," notes Mr. Kourtesis. These enhancements not only ensure safety but also elevate the comfort and overall experience for charter guests.
The passionate full-time crew of six onboard further enhances this guest experience. Under the leadership of dynamic Captain Nikolaos Katsipodis, the crew combines professionalism with willingness and dedication to ensure each trip is unforgettable, supported by endless accolades and years of experience.
A vacation onboard XIPHIAS is more than a typical yacht charter where luxury can feel standardized. The Kourtesis family invites those who appreciate classic yachts and meaningful experiences to enjoy XIPHIAS in Greek waters and become part of her story, combining heritage, family values, and modern luxury.
IYC’s presence in the reft project and specialized Greek charter expertise ensures each guest has a personalized experience steeped in Greek culture - from local excursions and tours to cuisine. Coupled with IYC’s charter management, guests aboard XIPHIAS beneft from a journey into yachting and the Greek island way of life.
Chartering this timeless yacht is an opportunity to share a legacy, thanks to owners who understand that treasures like this are meant to be shared, one charter at a time. With ties to her original delivery Captain from 1974 and a dedication to preserving the heritage of Andros Island, the Kourtesis family continues to enjoy not just XIPHIAS herself but the stories and history she represents.

This new breed of crew ofering such experiences is a growing trend that is evident throughout IYC's feet, featuring crew with diverse talents, giving an additional dimension to charter oferings.
While traditional crewing roles remain integral, there has been a signifcant shift in recent years toward hiring crew members who bring this additional expertise and can deliver ultra-personalized experiences. From health and wellness experts to dedicated watersport instructors and content creators, specialized crew roles are now a crucial part of the landscape, setting new standards for yacht charters.
As the way charter yachts are used changes, various trends stand out. One in particular is the growing emphasis on health and wellness.
Various yachts in the IYC feet now have the capabilities to deliver these experiences, such as onboard the 142'9" (43.5m) THIS IS IT (for charter, page 109); the expansive spa area is complemented by an onboard masseuse and spa therapist offering a range of treatments to guests. As the charter client demographic

You have to invest in specialized crew members. As new trends continue and the onboard experience becomes more dynamic, we have to adapt and create this new era in yachting. More clients are now requesting personal trainers, yoga instructors, and wellness coaches. Having these onboard enables that fully tailored experience that refects the guest's lifestyle with personalized touches.
- VICKY MASOUROU , IYC CHARTER CONSULTANT

evolves, with younger clients showing increased interest in health and wellness, yachts are adapting their crew profles.
Beyond traditional o ferings, crews now include professionals such as nutritionists, beauty experts, and specialized therapists, creating a comprehensive wellness package. Ticking these boxes is the 240' (73.15m) LAUREL (for sale & for charter, page 184), which has not only spa therapists and masseuses but also beauty experts and hairdressers. "It is the norm to now go on a yacht and have a massage, but anything yachts can ofer that goes beyond this is a plus," adds Nikola Sferle, IYC charter consultant.
From relaxation to fun and games, today, having a vast toy inventory onboard is an undeniable must, but what about the crew onboard to maximize the experience? "Deck crew have always been proactive in watersports, even helping guests that haven't snorkeled before, but now this adapting more with new toys on the market such as fite-boards, e-foils, etc., the crew must be f exible and have the skills, when a new toy comes out, you have to have it!," explains IYC consultant June Montagne.
The 182' 9" (55.7m) GALILEO (for charter, page 66) crew takes watersports to the next level, offering specialized remote diving and surf expeditions to explore uncharted territories. IYC Charter Manager Monisha Benzy Issac notes: "Almost every crew member onboard GALILEO is a qualifed diver, ofering guided dive adventures in destinations like the Maldives and Timor-Leste. The yacht also specializes in surf charters, with an avid surf crew guiding the guests to the best waves for an unforgettable experience."

With this team of passionate outdoor enthusiasts, the crew ofers expert guidance and curates the most exciting on-the-water adventures. Many other deck crews also bring professional-level sporting credentials to the charter experience, as Samantha Rigoli, IYC's crew placement consultant, explains: "I recently placed an e-foil champion on a yacht; despite being relatively new to crewing, his expertise in e-foiling was exactly what the owners were looking for." When hiring for dual deck and watersport roles, she adds: "I prioritize candidates with lifeguarding experience, various instructional backgrounds, etc., or even those who are champions and competitive athletes in the watersport feld. Guests love to be taught by champions; it adds something extra special to their experience." This element of instruction is showcased onboard GALILEO, where the crew scouts out the best dive and surf spots catering to all capabilities and can arrange PADI certifcations for beginners.
To document this on and under-the-water fun, many crew out there can now professionally capture every element of the trip so guests can remember the unforgettable moments long after they have stepped of the passerelle. In today's digital era, this content creation has become essential not only for guest fulfllment but also for providing valuable visual assets to showcase the yacht itself, amplifying its charter appeal.
Sferle observes: "We now see clients gravitating toward yachts with programs with photographers and content creators onboard so they can have cool material to upload of their vacation." Onboard the 149' 11" (45.7m) NORMA JEAN (for charter, page 97) are talented drone pilots who capture the charter experience for guests to take away videos and photos. The yacht is also fully connected with Starlink and a portable Starlink for tender expeditions, which enables guests to stream and upload their vacation live, even from the beach.

Alongside these content-focused technologies, having onboard AV/IT experts has also become advantageous. These specialists onboard eliminate the potential need for external contractors, resulting in seamless connectivity and entertainment, avoiding delays that could impact the charter experience.
Another prominent trend in the charter world is multigenerational trips, which have seen a notable uptick in recent years. This has consequently increased the demand for specialized childcare and educational experts onboard charter yachts. "Having additional crew who can entertain and educate the children is a huge beneft," Masourou says. This rise in multigenerational charter groups has also sparked additional skills, particularly when it comes to more of-the-beaten-track destinations. As Rigoli explains: "For larger yachts and those exploring remote destinations, having qualifed medical experts onboard like paramedics and nurses is invaluable. With the endless water sports and activities available, having immediate medical expertise provides peace of mind, especially for families with young children or elderly guests."
Aside from the enhanced safety aspects, when cruising away from yachting hubs, sourcing entertainment can prove challenging, so having a crew onboard that can add to the experience takes it up a notch or two. "Crew bring a distinct edge to a charter, often making or breaking the experience, whether it's a masseuse, yoga and ftness instructors catering to wellness-focused charters, or event specialists and entertainers creating extra special celebrations," adds Benzy Issac.
No matter where the yacht is, professional DJs, musicians, mixologists, and expert chefs all work to provide endless entertainment for onboard events. After a day flled with watersports, relaxation, and culinary excellence, guests can be pampered and prepped for the night ahead, ready for

the onboard party. Adding the cherry on top, content creators document the entire experience. "It's these types of things that elevate the whole experience, from pre-party prep to the actual entertainment and documenting it after," adds Sferle.
The evolution in crew capabilities refects the changing nature of the charter landscape. The competitive advantage is clear: "If a client is looking to choose between two boats with an awesome toy list and similar amenities, the specialized crew gives that competitive edge. I have seen clients pick yachts according to crew profles," comments Sferle. This sentiment is also echoed by Benzy Issac, who adds: "In such a competitive market, a skilled and passionate crew elevates a yacht from excellent to exceptional."
As the yacht charter market continues to evolve, specialized crew members have become more than just a trend; they are setting new standards in luxury experiences. From morning yoga sessions to afternoon water sports, evening spa treatments while the children are entertained, and nighttime entertainment provided, these multi-talented professionals create incredibly personalized experiences that elevate each moment of a charter.
Beyond enhancing the guest experience, specialized crew members can also ofer operational advantages. These multiskilled individuals contribute to crew longevity and operational efciency, fnding fulfllment in both the primary duties and specialized roles. "Specialized crew typically stay on board longer as they are also nurturing their own interests and hobbies," adds Rigoli. Such stability not only reduces turnover costs but also leads to a more cohesive team dynamic. Having crew members who can step into multiple roles, whether a deckhand as a diving instructor or a stew as a yoga teacher, provides fexibility and ultimately delivers a more integrated and cost-efective operation.
These specialized crew members ofer tailored, personalized, and immersive yacht charters, elevating the experience and ensuring the yacht stands out. In today's charter market, it's not just about the yacht but who is there to transform your vacation into an unforgettable one.

There are endless opportunities with helicopter fights during a yacht charter in the US. Whether you are whisked away for a round of golf at a course in Maine, enjoying a scenic fight over Cape Cod eyeing the iconic lighthouses below, or bypassing New York City's ground-level congestion for an afternoon of shopping, you can then swiftly return to our feet cruising the region, such as the 164' 1" (50m) AS YOU WISH (for charter, page 81) experiencing the secluded anchorages of New England.
After a day of watersport fun onboard the 164' 1" (50m) OCEAN CLUB (for charter, page 78) in Nantucket, a helicopter fight can be arranged to take you to a dinner reservation in the Hamptons. Or even using the helicopter to land for an ultra-luxe experience, such as a champagne picnic on the rolling hills of Martha's Vineyard. For me, the true gem of the coastline is Mandelieu-la-Napoule, especially at sunrise when the sea is perfectly still, and the frst light bathes the red rocks in a warm glow . If you can line all of those elements up you have something pretty special.
With new regulations limiting anchorage for 40m yachts, options have become more restricted. While mooring at Cap Taillat is still possible, it’s no longer as close to the crystalclear waters as before. That said, it remains a fantastic spot to visit by tender, ofering excellent wind protection, proximity to St. Tropez’s best beaches and beach clubs, and ideal zones for unique beach setups.

I recommend a seamless arrival in Nice, followed by cocktails on board as you sail to Pampelonne Bay for lunch at La Bagatelle. Mornings start with a café crème at Sénéquier, a cocktail at the DIOR Café, and a visit to the local market in Place des Lices before cruising to hidden gems like La Bastide Blanche for a private beach setup. Afternoons bring water sports, sunset cocktails at Le Sub, and starlit dining at L’Opéra. En route to Cannes, a late lunch at La Guérite on the Lérins Islands is a must, where the beach club vibe turns into a party. Don't miss the historic Rothschild mansion, the charming streets of Eze Village, and a Champagne toast at the American Bar in Monaco. The Riviera ofers endless possibilities, with every itinerary tailored for an unforgettable experience.

In my opinion, Greece’s true hidden gems are its lesser-known islands that have preserved their authenticity and traditions. While there are many, the Sporades, Anaf, and Astypalaia stand out as prime examples. With 167 inhabited islands—of which around 60 are well known—there remains a wealth of undiscovered destinations ofering unspoiled beauty and a genuine connection to Greek heritage.
The Sporades—Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonissos, and Skyros—are a stunning island cluster in the Aegean. These islands ofer everything from scuba diving in caves to scenic hikes through pine forests, leading to ancient ruins and historic monasteries. The ecosystem is also home to the endangered Mediterranean monk seal. And for flm lovers, this is where the location of the iconic Mamma Mia! movie!

Greece ofers a variety of diverse destinations, from cosmopolitan hotspots to secluded islands, perfect for every type of yacht charter. The country is known for its outstanding cuisine, warm hospitality, and breathtaking natural beauty, including crystal-clear waters and exclusive anchorages. While The Bahamas are often seen as a winter escape, this tropical paradise is as much of a gem in the summer. With fewer crowds, calmer seas, and warm, consistent breezes, summer unveils a quieter, more intimate side of the islands. Cruise through the Exumas’ crystal-clear waters, where secluded sandbars and untouched beaches become your private oasis. Dive into vibrant coral reefs teeming with marine life, or anchor of Eleuthera and Harbour Island to explore their charming pastel-hued towns. Summer in The Bahamas means sun-drenched days, balmy evenings, and the freedom to explore this island chain’s hidden treasures without the bustle.
The Exumas
The Abacos Harbour Island Nassau

The Bahamas is an incredible summer destination, boasting an archipelago of over 700 islands. With calmer weather in the summer, you can explore untouched paradises alongside iconic spots like the Abacos, home to world-class fshing tournaments and sailing regattas. It’s also the perfect season to experience spearfshing, conching, and a host of thrilling water adventures.
The Bahamas hold a special place in my heart, especially in summer when warm waters and light winds make for exceptional cruising. The Exumas’ crystal-clear waters and white sandy beaches are always a favorite, but I love venturing to Musha Cay for hidden sandbars or fshing at the Tongue of the Ocean. Many of my clients cruise to the “out islands” like Rum and Cat Island, enjoying calm seas. The Bahamas always provide the perfect setting for intimate charters with family and friends.

The Bahamas is a dream charter destination with its crystal-clear waters, secluded sandbars, and vibrant marine life. What many don’t realize is that summer is equally a great time to visit. With fewer crowds, warm breezes, and some of the best fshing (think catching larger fsh) and diving conditions of the year, it’s the perfect escape for those looking to explore paradise at a more relaxed pace.

A Lasting Legacy
IYC proudly represents the Dutch shipyard Moonen Yachts exclusively, on a global scale, realizing its vision for premium quality and future growth.
It truly is quality over quantity with the Dutch shipyard Moonen Yachts. Australian couple Matthew and Louise Baxter took over the boutique yard in August 2019, and since, it has been going from strength to strength, reviving the brand, scaling up production, and utilizing a speculative model, resulting in shorter delivery times. Rather than churning out boat after boat, Moonen upholds its Dutch pedigree by delivering just two meticulously crafted yachts annually within the 111’ to 131’ (34-40m) segment. As the shipyard continues to develop and focuses on further broadening its market, it has strategically partnered with IYC to represent its brand exclusively on a global scale.
Left to right: IYC Head of Sales UK, Richard Gray; Moonen Yachts Technical Director, Nicky Van Zon; IYC Managing Partner California, Matthew Stone at the shipyard

Shared Vision
Nicky van Zon, Technical Director at Moonen Yachts, explains the motivation resulting in the partnership: "We wanted to expand our global reach and showcase our yachts to a broader audience, but our sales and marketing capabilities were limited." Enter IYC, with its expertise and expansive network of consultants and clients, an ally capable of matching Moonen's excellence while providing comprehensive support services. The seed of the partnership was planted as the yard sought a central agency for the Moonen 110 Mustique in the American market.

Combined Expertise

One of the partnership's core principles is aligning methodologies for top-tier client service. Matthew Stone, Managing Partner at IYC California, emphasizes IYC's unique position: "Having a range of services under one roof creates accountability, and for Moonen, it means one point of contact rather than navigating a maze of diferent companies."
This streamlined approach mirrors Moonen's, whereby each owner becomes part of an exclusive 'Moonen family,' guided by a dedicated project manager who becomes a 'one-stop shop' for their needs, orchestrating the entire yacht production process.
The portfolio of services IYC ofers enables the shipyard not to be "everything to everybody," as Stone emphasizes the focus of such a niche market segment. With IYC's help, Moonen now focuses on what it does best, which, as van Zon adds: "Our specialism is in building the best yachts in our market."

Identifable Yachts
When the Baxters took over the reins, they embraced a philosophy that has become the cornerstone of the shipyard's progress: preserve the unmistakable Moonen DNA while pushing the boundaries of innovation. "Our signature DNA should fow through each yacht we build," says Louise Baxter. "Our clients love the distinctive Dutch pedigree build and we have carefully crafted our vision to maintain this identity, paired with a commitment to quality that we won't compromise in any way," she adds.
This dedication to excellence manifests in every choice the yard makes, from its carefully curated roster of designers to the materials that stand the test of time. René van der Velden's distinctive, elegant lines have become a symbol for Moonen. Meanwhile, the yard has forged partnerships with Vripack, Studio Indigo, and Hollander Yacht Design for the interior spaces, creating customizable designs to suit each owner.
Van Zon explains the meticulous level of detail that goes into the build process to ensure the most luxurious, comfortable, and quiet journey onboard: "Our obsession with details begins with the hull design and fows through every aspect of the build process. From the strategic installation of engine components to the precise routing of pipes and quality insulation used, we understand a yacht is essentially a foating box in motion. That's why our interiors are engineered independently from the hull, eliminating any vibration. If we detect the slightest vibration during sea trials, we will dismantle it until it meets our high standards."

Diana Yacht Design serves as the yard's trusted Naval Architect partner. This collaboration ensures that a Moonen yacht’s aesthetic doesn't just turn heads but delivers proven, reliable performance beneath the elegant exteriors. Meanwhile, Moonen's in-house capabilities, from expert carpentry to comprehensive layout design, allow for a high level of customization, meaning owners can shape their yacht's character throughout the build process, making each yacht unique while maintaining the standard. This element of fexibility is crucial, ensuring that the models are also easily convertible to charter, meeting certifcation requirements, enhancing resale value, and ensuring each owner can enjoy their yacht in the way that suits them.

A Moonen Client
The forged partnership with IYC has enhanced the buying experience for prospective and current Moonen owners. Richard Gray, Head of UK Sales for IYC, comments: "Our strong connections within the brokerage community allow us to cut through certain noise that perhaps a shipyard wouldn't." Gray explains that while direct clients are valuable, brokers are essential to sales, enhancing Moonen's status.
With the yachting world evolving, trends pushing boundaries, and yachting experiences being redefned, both IYC and Moonen recognize clients' changing needs and wants.
One of these changes is the desire to explore further. Moonen builds yachts with the size, range, and capability to simultaneously access marinas and cross oceans. Stone highlights this appeal of the unrestricted registry status: "They are true ocean-going yachts ofering more than the typical Bahamas milk run. We are seeing yachts venture to destinations like Costa Rica and Mexico. Having a 37-meter yacht capable of such journeys is rare in this segment."
Van Zon observes that historically, Moonen's clients were successful business owners, often older and looking to enjoy yachting post-retirement. He says: "Today we see a younger demographic still in their productive career years who want a Moonen. They focus on areas like the swim platform and sundeck, refecting

active lifestyles." This younger clientele is changing how yachts are used, opening up further opportunities for Moonen.
"A Moonen client understands the intrinsic value of heritage craftsmanship. It's a pedigree brand that people aspire to buy," observes Gray. The yard's most powerful advocates echo this sentiment - the current owners who acclaim their Moonen as the fnest yacht they've owned. For a prospective client, having the ability to step aboard a sister ship and hear frsthand from a Moonen owner is, according to van Zon, "a powerful aspect of our sales process are our loyal owners, which speaks volumes about what we deliver."
One key beneft for prospective owners considering a Moonen yacht is the shipyard's impressive availability compared to competitors at this level of quality. While many shipyards have extended build times, Moonen ofers a more immediate solution for those eager to begin their Moonen journey.
The combination of Moonen's world-class and efcient processes, streamlined production, and IYC's ability to facilitate quick transactions means that clients can secure a Moonen yacht without the long waiting periods typically associated with other pedigree brands.

Global Reach
The partnership between Moonen Yachts and IYC has already begun to yield impressive results, particularly in strengthening the shipyard's presence in key markets. IYC's marketing eforts were signifcantly bolstered by activities during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) 2024, where notable media exposure for the 110' model was gained, including exclusive tours with prestigious outlets such as Forbes, Robb Report, and Fox Sports. The 110's nomination for 'Best in Show' at FLIBS further underscores its appeal, reinforcing the yard’s focus on expanding its footprint in the US market.
We were looking for a partner that could ofer more than just sales; we needed support with mooring, crew, insurance, transport, etc.; we were looking for services to better serve our clients.

Louise explains: "We think broadly and globally, but at this particular time, the American market is stronger." With the American market showing particular robustness, opportunities like the Moonen Martinique YN205, available for spring 2025 delivery, represent an exciting proposition for buyers seeking a pedigree yacht that still allows for a level of customization.
"IYC is the standout firm to represent Moonen," comments Matthew Baxter. "Their global reach, coupled with the quality of the people, ethics, and selling approach, aligns perfectly with our vision of delivering beautiful boats to clients," he concludes.
The future is promising for Moonen with IYC by its side as the shipyard develops newer, and larger models with impressive availability. With IYC's global expertise and Moonen's commitment to craftsmanship, exciting things lie ahead.

Integrating art beyond an aesthetic appeal to refect passion, creativity, and vision aboard your superyacht…

Superyachts are often regarded as masterpieces in their own right, and while for centuries they have inspired artists, today, many of them showcase some of the fnest works of art in the world. Beyond facilitating luxury vacations, yachts are increasingly becoming foating galleries. Such spaces can refect an owner's artistic vision, not just aligning with the yacht's aesthetic but enhancing it.
While it remains highly subjective, art onboard is far from a decorative afterthought but has the potential to be a fundamental element of the design, carefully selected for the yacht's unique interior. "You want to consider the integration of artwork into the space from the beginning of the design process and value its importance as much or even more than other fnishings," explains Brooke Leboeuf, Owner of US-based Dome Art Advisory. Whether a new build or an existing yacht, and a painting, sculpture, or photography, all art must be placed so it truly belongs onboard.
The process is intricate and deeply personal. Each art piece must not only balance artistic vision but also withstand the unique challenges of life onboard while simultaneously elevating and diferentiating the interior from others. It's a delicate combination of taste, practicality, and artistic expression.
Yachting and the art world seamlessly intertwine through prestigious contemporary art events like Art Basel Miami and the Venice Biennale, which have become popular venues for yacht art collections. On the role of art in yacht sales, IYC Global Managing Partner Michel Chryssicopoulos notes: “Though artwork rarely transfers with yacht ownership, a curated collection can signifcantly elevate a potential buyer's experience during viewings, creating a better frst impression.”

Photographs on SEAGULL MRD | for SALE | p. 197
Century-old golden threadwork on board TIMBUKTU | for CHARTER | p. 112
While art will always remain inherently subjective, Lebouef notes that post-war and contemporary art is especially popular. Natalie Cliford, Director and Founder of New York and St. Barths based Space Gallery, signals a growing trend toward textual works and a tendency toward anything with textiles, depth, fabrics, and materials.
"Art defnitely creates a unique identity for a yacht," Chryssicopoulos adds. "I am witnessing more yachts increasingly incorporating murals and sculptural pieces, with each installation helping to enhance the yacht's distinct character."
Whether following trends or not, when choosing the art, each piece should enrich the specifc place in some way, adding luxury and comfort or creating a particular mood or ambiance while complementing the furniture, aesthetic, and
soft furnishings in its surroundings. "Installing masterworks and contemporary pieces in your superyacht truly is the only way to set your space above the rest," emphasizes Leboeuf. The installation of pieces onboard is crucial, and various practicalities and logistics must be considered. Many yachts have niche spaces and curved walls. "We work with builders to curate pieces that ft seamlessly into interiors and are custom-created to ft each opportunity and space," explains Cliford.
Art onboard is more than a decoration; it is a statement and narrative from the owner in color, form, and texture. Modern art collections onboard are far from static; such examples can be found throughout the original artwork and collection onboard the 137'10" (42m) TIMBUKTU.

OCULUS | for CHARTER | p. 127
The yacht’s art collection tells the story of her owners' global adventures, crowned by the centerpiece of the main saloon - an exquisite Indian princess gown. Dating back over a century, this golden threadwork masterpiece refects both the craftsmanship and the owners' journeys throughout India. While the art pieces may speak a thousand words, they must be displayed in the perfect spot and highlighted by statement lighting. Various museum lighting solutions can dramatically alter the perception of the works onboard. Onboard the 163' 9" (49.9m) SEAGULL MRD, contemporary pop art elements complement the bold interior scheme and are highlighted through expert statement lighting.
The yachting environment presents various challenges for art preservation. Saltwater, consistent movement and vibration, humidity, and UV exposure can wreak havoc to varying degrees on pieces. "A huge amount of detail goes into art onboard; it must be secured, safe, and enjoyed without risk," adds Cliford.
Various sophisticated solutions are available to further protect and preserve artworks onboard. These include climate-controlled environments, specialized framing, advanced mounting, bolting, and fastening techniques with specialized equipment and experienced installers, ensuring every piece - whether a sculpture or framethrives onboard.
Ultimately, art onboard is more than an aesthetic; it is a powerful way to express creativity, passion, and vision, transforming a yacht's space through careful curation and installation.

Superyachts are increasingly becoming lasting legacies for future generations, redefning what it means to own a yacht…

Yachtownership is undergoing profound changes. No longer confned to simply being a traditional symbol of wealth and prestige, superyachts have evolved into platforms for family connection, exploration, and legacy building.
As 2025 marks the frst time in history that seven generations will travel simultaneously, the concept of luxury travel and yacht ownership is shifting. Far from being simple assets, today, yachts are used for forging relationships, nurturing passions, and experiencing meaningful adventures spanning generations.
For many, a love for the yachting lifestyle and the ocean is more than a personal passion; it is a legacy often inherited and passed down through family trees. Many IYC feet owners have long been tied to the ocean, whether as former captains, lifelong sailors, or those raised by the coast, all naturally drawn to time on the water. Such passion has taken on new meanings in today's ultra-connected and ever-busy world, where time together has become more valuable than ever before.
Yachts have become retreats for high-quality, uninterrupted family time, ofering a unique escape from daily distractions and allowing groups to unwind and connect. Take the Kourtesis' family yacht, the 108' 11" (33.2m) XIPHIAS (for charter, page 135), "It is a family boat," says the owner, whose son discovered the yacht and recognized its potential. "We

are using it with family and friends with a plan for everyone to use the boat as much as possible together." For the family, whose roots run deep in Andros Island's seafaring tradition, XIPHIAS represents more than a purchase but a continuation of their maritime legacy.
This sentiment is increasingly refected across the industry, where a generation of owners are approaching ownership with a fresh perspective. Richard Gray, IYC's Head of Sales UK, observes: "Over the years, we have noticed a shift toward a younger generation of buyers - well-informed about the market and clear on their preferences." These owners are bringing diferent priorities to the table, particularly regarding family-friendly design and sustainability. "There is a noticeable movement toward eco-conscious ownership, with more consideration given to how sustainable a yacht can be," Gray adds.
Like XIPHIAS, the owner of the 126' 4" (38.5m) NAIA (for charter, page 119) has also embraced yachting to unite their family. Even the name refects this bond, representing the initials of all family members.
Beth Hamilton, owner of the 141' 1" (43m) SANCTUARY (for charter, page 111), shares similar thoughts. As part of a blended family, she sees the yacht as an ideal space where multiple generations can come together and share memories, regardless of age. More than just symbols of status and luxury, superyachts are now connected spaces designed to strengthen family ties across physical boundaries and generations.
This focus on family functionality is consequently reshaping yacht design. Today's yachts are increasingly tailored for varying uses and feature multigenerational amenities, from children's playrooms to wheelchair-friendly access. "In recent years, there has been a growing demand for onboard elevators, allowing guests to move efortlessly between decks," notes Gray. "Recessed exterior doors have become a key feature, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor transition - especially important for families with young children or older guests."
At just 30 years old, Antonio Ivanisevic showcases these generational bridges through his yachts at Croatia-based shipyard Tramontana Yachts.
As the fifth generation of a seafaring family, he designs superyachts that honor traditional maritime principles while catering to modern family demands. "It is not just about aesthetics and technology, but we are maritime-focussed, and below the water line, we will always use traditional build techniques," he explains.
With two young daughters himself, his approach to involving them in the business - having them wear crew t-shirts during visits - demonstrates how he aims to continue his yachting passion. Ivanisevic has built upon his family's yachting legacy with his four brothers and closest friends, continuing a people-focused strategy; he also involves Captains in the company's future. "The legacy of our yachts is not just for my family but for the people around us," he adds.
Recognizing the evolving ways families use their yachts, designers are prioritizing fexibility.
Many of the IYC f eet boast modular layouts and convertible cabins that transform seamlessly - play areas become evening entertaining lounges and cabins to accommodate nannies or mixed guests. Exemplifying this, and in addition to being wheelchair friendly, the 213' 3" (65m) ARTISAN (for charter, page 65) also has a dedicated children's playroom onboard.

Tramontana Yachts 158' (48m) CLASE AZUL | for SALE and for CHARTER | p. 90
Antonio Ivanisevic with his two young daughters on board

As Ivanisevic notes when referring to 170' 8" (52m) REPOSADO (for sale and for charter, page 195): "Parents can listen to Sinatra in the salon while kids have their own gaming party upstairs, and someone else can be resting down below - it's all about this connectivity." Such fexible usage, coupled with advanced technology, ensures that yachts simultaneously accommodate varying age groups and interests.
With a growing emphasis on legacy, sustainability has naturally become a crucial factor for younger buyers looking to preserve not only the yacht itself but also the marine environment for future generations to enjoy. "Our yachts are super low-consumption, under 90L per hour; younger clients really appreciate this," notes Ivanisevic.
Today's buyers are undoubtedly bringing fresh perspectives and priorities to the industry. Younger, more diverse owners are prioritizing experience over status. Yachts are no longer just simple assets but are evolving into these platforms for connection, designed to refect their owners' values and aspirations for future generations.
As the landscape continues to adapt to changing preferences, it is clear that the yachts of tomorrow will continue to be more than symbols of success; they will be ongoing legacies that nurture the yachting passion passed down for generations to come.
Our daughters were raised close to the water, and we have spent summers in Mykonos every year since they were young. Now 18 and 20, the children's busy schedules can make time together more challenging. I want to enjoy the yacht with my kids, so NAIA has become an amazing excuse to get us all together.
