t IYC we understand that creating an unforgettable charter is all about the details. After all, what is it that makes a superyacht charter so special? Simply put, it is the combination of hundreds of aspects –

from the yacht itself, to the choice of destination, and everything else in between – that add up to a totally custom experience. It is a stewardess appearing by your side with a perfectly made beverage just before you get thirsty. It is a special degustation birthday meal, perfectly themed to the occasion. It is the local knowledge that takes you to a secret beach, and the shell you bring home as a souvenir. If a yacht charter is a symphony, and all the details the musicians, then IYC’s charter team are the conductor that oversees and brings everything together in a beautiful performance.

1

BIGAIR BLOB BEST FOR THE FAMILY The ultimate superyacht accessory for children (and funseeking adults, of course), this huge inflatable cushion throws you high in the air when your partner jumps on the other side for an ‘exhilarating, hair-raising, flying through the air experience’. With safety in mind, the BigAir Blob is specifically designed for superyachts, featuring stabilisation outriggers and a fitted cradle stand off that keeps the blob from rolling or sitting too close to the hull. If you are worried about little ones catapulting too far, there is a mini version available too.

2

ZAPATA FLYRIDER BEST FOR THRILL SEEKERS The Flyrider by Zapata is described as a new class of hydroflyer, offering a jetski style flying experience. The Flyrider is self-balancing, making it easy to master, so before long you will be soaring above the water at speeds of up to 35km per hour. Unlike most hydro-flyers, the Flyrider can take up to two people, and it has the versatility of being able to land or take off from open water, the beach or an ocean level dock. It even features an automated barrel roll stunt maneuver for a real adrenaline kick.

3

PLATYPUS SUBMERSIBLE WATERCRAFT BEST FOR UNDER THE WAVES A unique trimaran with a submersible central pod that acts an underwater seat, the Platypus offers a truly unique perspective of the underwater world, and redefines the snorkeling experience. Dubbing itself ‘the missing link between a boat and diving’ it is perfect for exploring shallow waters. Two people can straddle the pod and explore snorkeling sites, breathing through full face masks attached to a topside air compressor. The Platypus can be steered through the water by a rear cockpit, with riders able to take in the marine life while remaining connected to the surface via a 360 degree digital periscope. 16

FUNAIR SEA POOL BEST WHEN AT ANCHOR Make the most of anchoring up in some of the world’s most spectacular waters by having your very own FunAir Sea Pool set up. Providing a safe and easy way to enjoy the warm waters, this will suit yacht guests of all ages (and also keep you away from any jellyfish or other sea creatures!). Relax on the poolside deck areas, before diving in, or play with your little ones in a specially designed splash pool. Easy to get in and out of, with thoughtful design features, the pool can also be set up in less than half an hour, meaning you don’t have to wait for your fix of the ocean.

5

FUNAIR CLIMBING WALL BEST INFLATABLES You can’t beat an inflatable when it comes to fun on the sea and this genius new climbing wall from FunAir makes getting in and out of the water even more enjoyable. Attached to the side of your superyacht, the climbing wall allows you to scale the side of the vessel via three different routes, color coded for difficulty. No need for safety harnesses as any slip on the way up will just be a fun jump back into the water. From the top you can simply leap back into the water to begin again, or pair it with an inflatable slide to turn your yacht into a

conveyor belt of fun.

TTR-SB SEAWOLF FPV BEST REMOTE CONTROLLED TOY Turn your GoPro into an underwater explorer with the latest TTR-SB Seawolf FPV. some of these beautiful yachts have moved to the other side of the camera, played starring roles themselves alongside Hollywood royalty and creating exciting plot lines in a number of films. Their appearance is not confined to one genre, with a number of impressive vessels featuring in action, mystery, musical, comedy and art house films.

One of the first yachts to feature on the silver screen was the classic schooner True Love, which played a central role in the lead actor's romance in the Hollywood Classic ‘High Society’. In the film Bing Crosby can be seen serenading Grace Kelly on board the True Love during the characters honeymoon. In a twist of fate, High Society was the last film Grace Kelly starred in before she married Prince Rainier of Monaco, with the couple also honeymooning on board the superyacht Deo Juvante II, which was gifted to them by Aristotle Onassis as a wedding present. Bringing things full circle, Grace Kelly’s life and marriage was brought to the big screen in the biopic ‘Grace of Monaco’, with the movie featuring the impressive 90-metre superyacht Nero.

When it comes to action, superyachts have long been synonymous with James Bond films, with Northern Cross in ‘Golden Eye’, Moonmaiden II in ‘The Living Daylights’, Kingdom 5KR (ex-Nabila) in ‘Never Say Never Again’ and Soufriere and the aptly named Casino Royale in ‘Casino Royale’. The latest yacht to play a starring role in the Bond franchise is the elegant sailing yacht Aria 1. This classically designed 56m schooner sailed Daniel Craig and his Bond girl to the villain’s private island in real James Bond style. For more action adventures, Matt Damon’s character Jason Bourne boards M/Y White Knight in first Bourne movie, ‘Bourne Identity’.

ITINERARY A Bahamas highlight, the Exuma Cays cover an almost unbroken chain from Beacon Cay in the north, to the islands of Great and Little Exuma in the south, stretching a distance of over 90 miles. This area is quite possibly the most exquisite cruising area in the Western Hemisphere. Legend has it that there are 365 cays in the Exuma group, with some of the most beautiful anchorages and beaches you will ever see. Here you can explore away from the crowds. Villages are few and most are small, picturesque, and primitive; the people are friendly and courteous. The cays themselves vary in size. Some are low and barren; others, like Highborne Cay, have rolling hills covered with dense vegetation and small trees. Almost all have beautiful beaches and small anchorages to enjoy all to yourself. The water is crystal-clear and the vivid colors, on a normal bright day with a moderate trade wind ruffling the surface, cannot be adequately described. This is an unforgettable part of the world, best enjoyed by yacht.

DAY 4: Warderick Wells Cruise to Warderick Wells in the heart of the Exumas Land and Sea Park. The waters in this protected parkland are pristine, so expect excellent snorkeling. Visit the park headquarters before feeding Wall-Eyed Jacks right off the back of your yacht. Check out the skeleton of a Sperm Whale on the main beach and enjoy the hike to the top of Boo Boo Hill for spectacular views; don’t forget the tradition of leaving a piece of driftwood painted with your yacht’s name.

DAY 5: Hawksbill Cay SHROUD CAY

DAY 1: Nassau Settle in and enjoy lunch on board, before departing by tender to the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island. Adventure awaits at the 141-acre water park filled with water slides, river rides, 11 amazing pools and miles of white sandy beaches. Spend hours exploring the world’s largest open-air marine habitat, which encompasses 15 lagoons and over 50,000 marine animals, then take on some scream-inducing waterslides such as the ‘Leap of Faith’: a 60-foot, almost vertical drop into a shark lagoon.

COMPASS CAY

Hawksbill, an uninhabited cay within the Exuma Park, has numerous soft sand beaches on both the western and eastern shores of the cay. A quick hike up the trail from Adler Beach will take you to some well-preserved Loyalist Ruins from the late 1700s when Americans loyal to the crown emigrated to the Bahamas and settled. At the start of the trail a mailbox can be found, where people from all over the world leave their mark, depositing notes of greetings.

DAY 6: Pipe Creek The winding passages through the tiny islands between Staniel and Compass Cays are filled with sandbars that grow with the ebbing tide, leaving nothing but powder white sand, sand dollars, starfish, the occasional stranded conch and beautiful Sunrise Tellin shells. This is one of the best spots in the world to try bone fishing, but for bucket list activities head to Compass Cay to swim with the local sharks Herman, Woody, Hook, Scar, Squirt, Ross, Mutt, Exzooma, Jack and Chunky.

DAY 7: Big Major’s Spot

DAY 2: Upper Exumas Set course for Allan’s Cay and Highbourne Cay, enjoying a ‘blue hole’ dive at the halfway point. At Highbourne Cay take a hike to the spring, a rare fresh water source on the island. Nearby Allen’s Cay is the home of many Bahamian Rock Iguanas. Almost tame, these playful lizards enjoy strawberries the most. Upon landing on the beautiful white sand beach, the iguanas appear out of the limestone brush, sometimes in the hundreds.

This is one of the best spots in the world to try bone fishing, but for an even more heart-pumping bucket list adventure head to hooved residents. Treat them to a pig-picnic prepared by your chef, pet them and even swim with them. Keep an eye out for the adorable piglets. Then cruise to Thunderball Cave, a place made famous by the James Bond movie Golden Eye. Here you can snorkel and leap from the top of the limestone cavern into the blue waters below - the perfect end to your charter.

DAY 3: Shroud Cay and Norman Cay On the way to Shroud Cay, make a quick snorkeling stop at Norman Cay to admire the marine life that shelters in a Curtiss 46 Commando Airplane that once belonged to the infamous drug smuggler Carlos Lehder. Cruise to Shroud Cay and explore by kayak or paddle board, travelling through unspoiled mangrove creeks before feasting on a sumptuous picnic lunch at the beautiful beach on the Atlantic side. Enjoy a calm anchorage under a sky of a million stars.

VIRGIN ISLANDS

With steady trade winds, tame currents and hundreds of protected, salt-rimmed bays, the Virgin Islands is a dream cruising destination. Made up of more than forty islands in the group, the BVI’s have a little bit of everything to offer all types of visitors. Never out of sight of land, you are rarely more than a few hours between anchorages – meaning more time for exploration. While the hurricanes of 2017 affected the US and British Virgin Islands, after almost two years of recovery the islands are greener than ever and proudly open for business. The beach bars are back, casual and atmospheric as ever, and resorts have reopened. Above water and below, the beauty of the Virgin Islands remains constant. This is a particularly special area for scuba diving and snorkeling with plenty to marvel at and an array of beautiful dive sites. White sand beaches, on water restaurants, a vibrant culture and crystal clear water make this a dream destination for those looking for their own slice of paradise.

The island is most famous for the ‘Baths’, a series of gigantic granite boulders that form caves filled with crystal clear water. Swim ashore to the beach before working your way through a labyrinth of house-sized rocks, with quiet grottos and secret paths, culminating at the stunning Devil’s Beach. After sunset, spot phosphorescent plankton and jellyfish in the water. ST. THOMAS

DAY 5: Anegada, BVI DAY 1: St Thomas, USVI St Thomas is perfect for those who love sea, white sand beaches, reefs and diving, shopping, history and photography. Board your yacht here and after enjoying the lively bustle of the capital, visit the peaceful Magen’s Bay on the north side of the island. Here, swim, snorkel and make the most of warm waters that are so clear you will be able to see the sandy ocean floor.

Anegada is the northernmost of the BVIs, and the only inhabited island of the archipelago formed from coral and limestone, lying flat and low in contrast to the other volcanic islands. The island is known for miles of white sand beaches, pink flamingos and the 18 mile-long Horseshoe Reef, the largest barrier coral reef in the Caribbean, and the fourth largest on earth. For foodies, it is most famous for its lobster served in atmospheric beach bars.

DAY 6: Sandy Spit, BVI Cruise from Anegada to Sandy Spit. This tiny bit of sand off Green Cay makes one feel what mutineers on deserted islands must have experienced, but with a cold drink in your hand. Enjoy a stunning beach, take a kayak out, or enjoy some magnificent snorkeling.

Next stop is Privateers Bay on Norman Island, made famous by R.L Stevenson’s ‘Treasure Island’, where young guests can participate in a real-life treasure hunt. Then head to the Bight, for sunset photos by Willy T’s beached ship.

Let the man himself regale you with tales of his life for a truly local experience, before continuing to the Bubbly Pool, named as such because of the bubbles that form as waves crash against the rocks. Cruise back to St Thomas before waving farewell to the BVIs.

DAY 3: Peter Island, BVI After a sumptuous breakfast, head to the stunning snorkelling and dive site known as the Indians. One of the most popular dive sites in the BVIs, it includes unique rock formation with depths from 10 to 50ft and a tunnel which divers and snorkelers can pass through, plus an array of marine life, including turtles. Next, arrive in Little Harbor on Peter island, a pristine nook that is perfect for creating a private ‘swimming pool’ off the back of your yacht.

BALEARICS

Sun-soaked and skirted by golden sands, the Balearic Islands are awash with leafy terraces, crumbling heritage sites, secluded coves and rolling hills, off the coast of Spain. The four islands of the archipelago each offer something different, and in combination they create the perfect cruising itinerary. Mallorca is the senior island, combining a little of everything, from spectacular mountain scenery and hiking through to the standard sea and sunshine. Ibiza is synonymous with clubbing, but aside from a world class music scene, it is a pretty island with a welcoming spirituality. Menorca is a haven of tranquility – splendid isolated beaches and coves, and prehistoric monuments standing as taciturn reminders of how small we are in the grand scheme of things. And tiny Formentera, a chill-out island, where some people lose themselves for the entire summer, needing little more to keep them happy than white beaches and sunset parties.

DAY 1: Palma de Mallorca

DAY 4: Talamanca Bay – Ibiza Town – Formentera

Start your charter in Mallorca’s cosmopolitan capital city, Palma. Take in the Moorish and European architecture in the fascinating “Old Town” where narrow streets, hidden behind the high walls of ancient buildings, lead to Renaissance palaces, hidden squares and tapas bars. Palma offers the best of both worlds: the vitality of a capital and the relaxed pace of an island town. Like a gracious smaller version of Barcelona, it is a relaxed, street-safe city with a cosmopolitan crowd, notable architecture and a busy nightlife.

After a breakfast in Ibiza, take the short cruise to the little sister island of Formentera. This, the smallest and least developed of the four main Balearic Islands, floats in a world of its own, boasting stunning white beaches and azure waters. It is ideal for long walks, has great cycling trails and mud baths, as well as secluded coves and sleepy fishing villages. Local fishermen will tell you the seafood caught around Formentera is second to none in quality.

DAY 5: Ibiza bays of Cala Jondal, Ses Salines and Porroig Returning to Ibiza, arrive to the most hip and happening bays the island has to offer, starting at Cala Jondal, where the fabulous selection of restaurants are popular with the rich and famous. The long beach with its crystal-clear, turquoise waters is the place to enjoy the Ibizan summer in an atmosphere of glamour, elegant people, relaxation and nature. Next stop is the long, wide crescent of sandy beach at Ses Salines before a night in Porroig Bay. PALMA DE MALLORCA

DAY 2: Palma de Mallorca - Puerto de Andratx From Palma stop in Portals Vells for lunch, swimming and water sports before an evening at anchor in Puerto de Andratx. Explore the picturesque fishing port with its great atmosphere and excellent restaurants. Walk up hill to enjoy beautiful views of the Old Town, which was built inland from the port as a defence against pirate attacks. Evidence of this is found in the town’s narrow cobbled streets and fortress-like church.

DAY 3: Puerto de Andratx - Ibiza, Talamanca Bay After a quiet breakfast, cruise to Talamanca Bay in Ibiza and anchor overnight. This is just a stone’s throw from the largest city on the island, Ibiza Town, renowned for its vibrant nightlife. With something to offer both by day or night, stroll through the old village of Ibiza town and experience a town teeming with culture and history, then stay on late into the night to enjoy its world famous club scene.

IBIZA TOWN

DAY 6: Ibiza - Ponent Nature Reserve – Mallorca Visit the uninhabited Ponent Nature Reserve lying on the south coast of Ibiza. Explore before heading to the bay of Cala d'Hort, which offers breathtaking views of the mysterious and spectacular rock island of Es Vedra, towering high above sea level next to her sister Es Vedranell. In the evening cruise back to beautiful Mallorca.

DAY 7: Mallorca

PORT D'ANDRATX

Enjoy the stunning secluded coves of Mallorca while you make your way towards the most prestigious nautical and leisure complex of the island, the harbor of Portals Nous. The ultimate spot for retail therapy, there you will find a variety of shops in a truly luxurious environment to round off your trip.

Departing Bonifacio early in the morning, enjoy some water sports in the incredible blue waters. Arrive at Rondinara Beach and Liscia di Vacca in Sardinia in time for late afternoon cocktails. This is an area of stunning natural beauty where you can anchor up and take in the spectacular scenery.

DAY 5: Liscia di Vacca – Porto Cervo Originally a small fishing village, today Porto Cervo is one of the most fashionable destinations in the Med. In its center, an old port and glitzy marina are the focus of activity, as are its Mediterranean-style shops and restaurants. Enjoy wandering by designer boutiques and galleries hidden in the side streets. Alternatively, the beach and cove-flecked coastline make perfect retreats. In the evening, the lights of elegant restaurants and trendy bars along the waterfront entice partygoers to enjoy the nightlife.

DAY 2: La Girolata – Bonifacio Wake up at the grandiose La Girolata Bay. A fortress on a headland hides a tiny hamlet situated right in the middle of a National Park. There are only two ways to access it – by donkey or by boat, the latter being far more agreeable! The beach restaurant sells excellent fresh lobster, which your chef can prepare on board. Appreciate an evening of exquisite isolation before waking up to a morning of water sports, following the yacht to Gargalu Island by jetski. Cruise overnight to Bonifacio.

DAY 3: Bonifacio Arrive early in the morning and anchor below the cliffs near Bonifacio. Explore the caves and inlets and enjoy some fun activities before heading to port in the evening. The arrival is spectacular; a narrow entrance hidden at the foot of the cliffs leading into the harbour. Bonifacio itself is perched impressively high on the cliffs overlooking the waters below. It is a vibrant place with many restaurants and bars, most of which play live music.

DAY 6: Porto Cervo – Tavolara Island Depart early in the morning for the island of Tavolara, an area prized by divers and fishermen for its clear waters and abundance of sea life. The cliffs on this island rise up 600 metres towards the sky, which gives it an impressive, imposing feel. DAY 7: Tavolara – Maddalena Islands Today explore the Maddalena Archipelago, which is made up of 62 islands and islets within 5.134 hectares of calm, clear waters. The principal island, La Maddalena, is the only inhabited island - known as 'Small Paris’ - and is considered one of the most beautiful towns of Sardinia. Budelli is best known for its pink beaches, including the famous ‘Spiaggia Rosa’, which gets its stunning color from tiny coral grains. Relax, explore and swim in this paradise. Cruise overnight to Monaco.

Filled with gleaming yachts and beautiful people, Porto Cervo comes alive with the hustle and bustle of the races, and glamorous parties that continue until dawn. Luxury boat rental is the best way to visit this world-class destination and make the most of the incredible beaches of the Maddalena Archipelago. Mingle with the rich and famous, dine at exquisite restaurants, and take your charter yacht to explore some of the most dazzlingly beautiful areas that Italy has to offer.

Best Time To Visit Throughout the summer there are a number of regattas, such as the Rolex Cup in September, or the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta in June, and you can marvel at the sight of groups of super sailing yachts on the water. If you prefer to avoid crowds, the waters are still warm into autumn.

Key Cruising Areas Porto Cervo is the gateway to the excellent cruising grounds of the Emerald Coast. Sail to the Maddalena to find peaceful turquoise lagoons and wild national parks. Anchor off one of the many islets then take a tender ashore for an afternoon spent relaxing on a deserted beach, perhaps with a chilled bottle of local rosé.

ITINERARY The impossibly clear waters of the Adriatic are some of the cleanest in the Mediterranean, making the coastline of Croatia a truly world-class sailing destination. Its rich and mixed cultural history, untouched islands, stunning national parks, fragrant olive groves and beautiful architecture are best explored by superyacht, making for an unforgettable charter experience. The Dalmatian islands are the country’s best known cruising grounds, but northern Croatia is another paradise and a special cruising destination that begs to be explored. A beautiful climate makes North Croatia an excellent choice to visit in the warmer months, with blue skies and sunshine. Less crowded and developed than other popular Mediterranean hubs, these cruising grounds offer a taste of the ‘Old Mediterranean.’ From exploring the idyllic old town of Primosten and bathing in the waterfalls of Krka National Park to kayaking the rocky islets around Rovinj and eating fresh seafood right on the water in the beautiful villages of Vis, you will be hard pressed to narrow down your favourite memory from a North Croatia charter.

SOLTA ISLAND, CROATIA 62

ISSUE 06

2020

DAY 1: Trogir/Split – Primosten Embark at Trogir then gently cruise to the tranquil town of Primosten, with a stop on the way for lunch and watersports. Primosten’s enchanting ‘old town’ is situated on a small island that was once connected to the mainland by bridge, but now can be reached by a manmade isthmus – this is Croatia’s answer to Mont Saint-Michel. Take in the sites then find a secluded spot in the 20km of surrounding beaches.

DAY 2: Sibinik/Krka Waterfalls After berthing in Sibinik take a private boat up river through the Krka National Park, and hike up to the park’s waterfalls. The park covers around 142sq km and encompasses two thirds of the Krka river, including the impressive Skradinski Bak waterfalls where you can have a refreshing dip whilst enjoying the view. On your way back down try and spot some of the park’s wildlife, which includes many species of reptile, amphibian and birds.

VIS ISLAND

DAY 5: Rovinj – Vis You will be spoilt for choice with activities around Rovinj. Mountain bike, hike, dive or visit the national park of Brioni (Brijuni), where you can enjoy a safari park, a roman villa, preserved dinosaur footprints, a byzantine church and settlement, and one of the oldest olive trees in the Mediterranean. There is also the opportunity to visit the Church of St. Germain that holds copies of medieval frescoes and Glagolitic writings from Istra, before cruising overnight to Vis.

DAY 6: Vis Island

SKRADINSKI BAK WATERFALLS

DAY 3: Kornati National Park Enjoy a morning of scuba diving before cruising towards the 89 islands, islets and reefs of Kornati National Park. Here there is an abundance of flora and fauna, with the site often referred to as a nautical paradise. Try and spot some ‘sakaturs’, ancient walls built from the sea inwards as a way to herd the sheep that used to graze these small islands. Watch the sun go down before heading to Rovinj overnight.

This island jewel sits in the middle of the Adriatic. Closed to tourists for many years, it has retained an unspoilt charm. You may recognize its enchanting landscape from the Mamma Mia sequel, which was filmed here. Enjoy fresh lobster as you watch the ‘falkusa’ fishing boats bob in crystal waters around the village of Kozima, or dine in a ruined palazzo in Vis. Explore monasteries and roman theatres or head to the nearby islands, not missing the enchanting blue caves of Biševo.

DAY 4: Rovinj Wake up to a view of the colorful houses Rovinj, one of Croatia’s most beautiful coastal towns. Explore the winding cobbled streets filled with cafes, restaurants, independent shops and art galleries. If you are feeling brave, climb to the top of the bell tower of the town’s church, St. Euphemia. The views are magnificent – try and spot the traditional batana boats in the harbor. Take a kayak for a sunset paddle to explore the coastline’s hidden islands and protected greenery.

DAY 7: Solta Island

PRIMOSTEN

The island of Solta is local Croatia at its best. Fill your day exploring local restaurants; sampling the local wine and olive oil, or see the island by mountain bike. Cruise to Trogir where you can finish up your charter by wandering through the town's historic streets.
