The final design uses Revit Architecture 2015 to analyse the daylight performance and carryout thermal improvement of the spaces in the gallery. The result were presented in three (3) stages: 

An improved daylight strategy of the space in accordance to CIBSE guide.

THE CONCEPT:

ROOF DETAIL - A

The design brief was to provide rapid response community facility in a residential setting.

FLOOR DETAIL - C

Approximately 100m2, the design will demonstrate adaptability and demountability. On a simple rectangular plan, COMMeHUB serves as a community Resource centre in

MATERIALITY AND DESIGN STRATEGY The building envelope consists of locally sourced materials (compressed STRAWTEC Panels and Paperboard) and can be adapted to suite various locations. Following a defined set of grids, the primary structural members are Glu-laminated timber

DESIGN4HEALTH: DEMENTIA DAY RESPITE CENTRE Dementia is a National health priority in the UK and Worldwide. There are currently 820,000 individuals with dementia in the UK and with increased trend in ageing; this figure is expected to rise by 2025. It poses a greater challenge for designers because dementia affects the way individual perceives space and relates the surrounding environment. In this project, a day respite centre for adults with Dementia was designed with the concept of PHENOMENOLOGY. The project begins with an integrated review of relevant literature on Dementia disease and Dementia friendly design and visit to prolific case-studies. PHENOMENOLOGY is the philosophy of experience as described by Edmund Husserl (1906). The design element of this project demonstrated that - materiality, light and Form can heighten the experiential and functional abilities of adults with dementia in a day-respite setting. Various Zones with varying heights and function flow into each other and this creates identity and orientates the users as they navigate the building.

an outdoor garden area with pergola arches and seating area for quiet contemplation and small group meetings. The Design uses sensory landmarks (various garden layouts) to safely orientate the users as they navigate through the space.
