St. Benedict Prep Alumni Newsletter

1950 -63 Years of Quality Catholic Secondary Education- 2013 In this new school year, our school board has designated the Annual Fund - Fund Our Future Campaign to highlight the progress of our academic program through the efforts of our wonderful staff. This issue begins with the contributions being made by two staff members who are alumni. The level of excellence achieved here is a direct result of our dedicated faculty.

Staff Spotlight: Jean (Bahr) Hybinette ‘72 Mrs. Hybinette is an alumna of St. Benedict High School

and continues to have the privilege of teaching at St. Benedict Prep High School. She received numerous awards for her teaching excellence and contributions to the school, including induction into St. Benedict Hall of Fame, Benedictine Award, and Teacher of the Year 2012. She feels there is no better work than the education and inspiration of our youth and giving back to the St. Benedict community. According to Mrs. Hybinette, “St. Benedict Preparatory School continues to serve students, impact society, Under Mrs. Hybinette’s direction, students work on editing honor our tradition, and be inspired by our cornerstones; today we rise on them.” video for a talk show to be live on our You Tube Channel at -----------------------------------------------------http:/www.youtube.com/stbenedictprep

WHAT IS MULTI-MEDIA CLASS? Argina Horn ‘15 writes, “Multimedia is a hands-on course that applies publishing and presentation concepts to the development of business documents and projects. Several publishing programs are taught and practical application assignments are given. Among these were the creation of magazine covers. Other projects involve the production of a talk show and a radio show using a variety of mediums. The basics of digital photography coupled with photo editing software such as Photoshop are introduced.”

Staff Spotlight: Jacqualyn (Stevenson) Stancin ‘02

After graduating Mrs. Stancin attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign majoring in art education (BFA). She later received a MA in art education. Of why she is glad to be back she writes, “I have so many memories from high school. I married my high school sweetheart Ed and we are expecting a baby boy later this October. During the past three years at St. Ben’s I have been working to develop a rigorous art program for the Elementary students that extends beyond arts and crafts. Each unit is a thematic unit that features connections to other academic areas, themes, and thought provoking pieces of famous art to enrich students’ artistic learning. My main goal is to allow students exploration of these ideas through a fine arts hands on experience. This year one of my goals is to incorporate technology throughout each student’s art experience because many contemporary artist now work with technology on a daily basis.
