Copula
Jack Galmitz
A lane of red trees as it should be
A cardboard box painted black a photographer's diorama for knick knacks
A flower made of multi-colored squares
In every cubicle plants
I rarely go out the earth is all asphalt
I've been walking for years but can't get out of here
A swath of yellow shades painted in January
Frying chòu dòufu a riot breaks out
The banging of pipes in the walls brings end of timers to these halls
I hear air talking to copper tubes
The human in me is turned off
My first cat is in an urn on the shelf
My dog lives in my head
Outside my window was a great nation
A man reciting his poem receives a rousing ovation from his cows
I invented a friend who has two legs
I'm building a house of stones and I'll live alone
Opening the blinds the light goes wild
A fiddler at night following his goat
The sparrows disperse as we approach
The mountain is far away if you look at it that way
The criss-cross of car tracks frozen as hard as rock
Before it snows the sky hides pearly light
Forgive me for killing roaches roaches roaches roaches
Nothing but snow as far as the eyes can seefour trees
At the far turn a horse breaks down we all break down
The snail carries its home around
Mounds of snow in the thermal pool tadpoles
A cicada the sound of sorrow
Wisteria even here
Snow monkeys and you're stuck to a computer
