In 2012, the City Commission adopted a public art ordinance to enhance the aesthetic and cultural value of the city by including works of art on public properties within the city. The City Commission next created the Public Art Committee to guide the implementation of this program. This Committee meets the third Thursday of every month at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center at 5 pm. The City is proud to announce the dedication of its newest public art piece We Go Together by renowned artists Gillie and Marc Schattner. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 12:30 pm at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center. The ceremony is free and open to the public. “We are thrilled that Gillie and Marc’s creative genius is on display in our City,” said Laura Atria, Public Art Program Manager for the City. “This Australian husband and wife team is regarded worldwide. It is honor to have their beloved characters, Rabbitwoman and Dogman, in Pompano Beach.” Gillie and Marc are best known for these beloved characters who tell the autobiographical tale of two opposites coming together to become best friends and soul mates. Unlikely animal kingdom companions, the Rabbit and the Dog stand for diversity and acceptance through love. To learn more about the program, please contact Laura Atria 954.545.7800, ext. 3813 and join our Artist Network to stay informed of current and future Calls for Artists and other exciting art opportunities taking place in Pompano Beach. pompanobeacharts.org | July 2019 |

Super Natural Humanoids explores the everyday lives of older adults in our postmodern society. The idea behind this installation is to have the audience interact with the marionettes and make them come alive, metaphorically alluding to seniors being woken up to be integral part of the society again.
